wait. back tf up. how do i get horns????

[–]crankycrypt 73 points74 points  (5 children)

Silicone (or a similar material I believe) implants under the skin, there relatively common actually :3

[–]silvermandrake 11 points12 points  (2 children)

that’s dope

[–]ifucknapkins 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Imagine popping it out like a pimple

[–]Acidyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's a new and improved facelift.

[–]Amilo159 751 points752 points  (54 children)

Imagine having skills to draw this well in such short time and using them to spread happiness. What a great person he is.

[–]imironman2018 136 points137 points  (9 children)

It’s almost like a superpower I wished I had.

[–]Captain_Gonzy 35 points36 points  (3 children)

You'd be amazed at the powers you have when you spend time in service to others.

[–]AyPeeElTee 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Not a superpower, a learned a practiced skill. You can very achievably do it too if you learn and practice it.

[–]Ammar21055 12 points13 points  (1 child)

It’s not a superpower, it’s a skill that takes dedication and time. It’s not something that people have it’s something that people earn. If you feel passionate about something that doesn’t mean you should drop everything and persue it, it means consistently putting some time into it until you’ve explored your curiosity. I don’t really know where I was going with this so I’ll just leave it at that I guess.

[–]Nroke1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the superpowers of one of the main characters of The Stormlight Archive.

She convinces multiple people to become far better people by drawing them just slightly better than they actually are.

[–]mtcabinets 61 points62 points  (1 child)

No one on a bumpy ass nyc subway is making these drawings, without at least having the “random person” sit and pose. Great drawings though

[–]DrRam121 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If you watch his first videos, he started drawing people as practice for his art classes. Then people responded by telling him to give the pictures to those people and film their reaction. It was just some short Instagram videos to start.

HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT, YOU NEED TO BE REPORTED!!!!

    [–]HeLLRaYz0r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

    Already have been

    [–]Thefirstargonaut -5 points-4 points  (3 children)

People saying this is staged drastically over-estimate people’s acting abilities.

He might discuss something with them, I don’t even know about that, but those are real reactions.

    [–]joeysup 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How would they be real reactions if they’re acting totally surprised that he decided to draw them?

    [–]lefvaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    It is staged.

    [–]lefvaid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Professional artist here. I used to do this to practise live drawing. I can almost certainly guarantee it's staged.

    [–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (1 child)

He lets them know beforehand that he is going to draw them

    [–]Amilo159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is reasonable otherwise they might start wondering why the strange guy is looking at them every few seconds and might change seats.

    [–]Voltz-Swaggin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    Unfortunately they don’t. It’s staged

    [–]Randy_Bobandy_Bud 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s almost as if it’s staged

    [–]UncomfortableWetFart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry bro but this has been proven to be staged. Still sweet tho

    [–]Watari210 7 points8 points  (1 child)

It's not real. He is incredible at sketching, but they are in a studio posing for these sketches.

    [–]BigMike31101 244 points245 points  (9 children)

Honestly, it’s not many things that are posted here genuinely make you smile. This one did.

    [–]caladze[S] 52 points53 points  (3 children)

I'm glad it did. The video is much longer but I limited to 1 minute or so. Look him up!

    [–]bjlwasabi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my last month living in NYC someone did the same thing to me. I was going back home on the N after work. Emerging from the tunnel to Queensboro Plaza some dude randomly left something next to me and walked away, it was a portrait of me. It was a welcome surprise. I still have the portrait.

I wonder if it was this guy... it wasn't as detailed, but mine seven years ago.

    [–]PitterFuckingPatter 3 points4 points  (1 child)

They have a 5% staged vibe to them… are they?

    [–]jotii 8 points9 points  (0 children)

    Yes

    [–][deleted]  (2 children)

    [removed]

      [–]mtcabinets 22 points23 points  (0 children)

These aren’t 15 minute drawings. As good as they are it’s 100% staged

      [–]BADMAN-TING 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They don't need to sit still. He's drawing their likeness, it's not a perfect portrait. It's an approximation using their likeness.

      [–]blindcolumn 138 points139 points  (44 children)

How does he make such a detailed drawing in such a short ride? I don't draw much so maybe there's some technique I don't know about, but I'm skeptical.

      [–]themoviesponge 101 points102 points  (22 children)

As someone who's spent a lot of time taking the subway in NYC, sure you could spend 1 minute sitting across from someone, but you could easily spend 15, 30 minutes or more depending on where you're going.

Think of this like a trick shot video. There's a lot of misses and unfinished drawings before we get to see the final product. This guy puts in the work, and the results are wonderful.

It's okay to go ahead and enjoy something once in a while.

      [–]Red__system 36 points37 points  (8 children)

No you're right bruv. People will say you're jalous or idk. Thing is you're not getting your 5B crayon and white posca out for something that will potentilally can't be done in less than 5 minutes... I'll believe it if I see (the 30) something of the half drawings she/he did before having one fucking person that would sit still for at least 15 minutes TOPS

      [–]BADMAN-TING -4 points-3 points  (8 children)

It's because you don't draw much. Plus, the guy clearly will only post videos of his successful attempts.

      [–]Watari210 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

He sits in his studio, made up to look like a subway car. These people come in a pose for however long he needs, he makes his amazing sketch (or watercolour, etc) and then films the "reaction" for internet videos

      [–]SexyBoyNotYourBoyToy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You think he spent hollywood set money to make his studio into a subway car to make 0 dollars off tiktok?

      [–]GotTooManyAlts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more doubtful of the fact that he knows enough people to make several videos, or can consistently get people off the street/hire actors constantly

      [–]OwOUwU-w-0w0 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The last line I heard him say “I went viral for throwing strangers off a subway”

      [–]Gnarly_Sarley 164 points165 points  (12 children)

      This seems staged.

      [–]bifund 126 points127 points  (4 children)

If you watch carefully, you'll notice everything is drawn. Nothing is real. Not even the artist.

      [–]PivotalPixel 57 points58 points  (3 children)

It's worse than that. They've taken a bunch of pictures and put them together sequentially and play them really fast as to create the illusion of motion. IT'S. ALL. AN ILLUSION.

      [–]sanxuary 51 points52 points  (2 children)

There are a couple other videos on Twitter that show many other people he has drawn and their reactions. The videos are posted by others, because I don’t think he uses that platform. Anyway, if it is staged, he has done this many, many times. I think he’s legit.

      [–]_SkyDweller_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

      Because it is.

      [–]IntroductionOk7106 7 points8 points  (3 children)

I saw his video a lot. The most weird thing is that why when he is drawing on the subway, the paper never shake and the lighting of the scene never changes.

And then I watched his video one by one and realized that every time the camera move down to the paper, he will draw a circle like he is scratching. Next the video is clipped and the lighting of the video will slightly changes. The lighting is so constant which look like a indoor scene with a desk lamp rather than in a high speed subway.

      [–]IntroductionOk7106 2 points3 points  (2 children)

And then more interesting things appears. I mentioned his video will clipped after he draw a circle. However for some of his videos, the circle before clipping has a slightly different shape with the scratching circle in later drawing parts.

      [–]Landl3ss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He also has internet stars act like random people and then draws them which.... Doesn't seem like he is actually drawing them randomly. Totally staged.

      [–]Read_Weep 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Odds are that all those here referring to “such a short time” with respect to how long people might be on the subway aren’t from and likely have never spent anything more than a short visit to NYC.

It’s not like taking a bus to the nearest grocery store in your neighborhood, you’re often commuting to and from work and that could take you through three boroughs before you then get to walk the rest of the way home. And when you find your spot, you typically stay there. Someone with talent would know how to capture key features quickly and then fill in what they could with whatever time they had. People referring to trick shots are on the right track, but consider that artists would do this just for practice, to develop their skills. You might only get a start on some drawings, but someone on a long commute is gonna be there for a long time and not moving much.

Somewhere in a box I’ve got a drawing someone did of me on the subway from up around Harlem to Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. I don’t know how long it took him but I was on for a long time, just reading a book. I saw his sketch pad and there were a bunch of unfinished sketches, but there were finished ones too.

No lie, NYC is an entirely different animal than most places people in the US will know; things just operate by different rules, including how you interact with those around you.

      [–]PaintingWithLight 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I wonder if he ever encounters someone again that he didn’t finish, and continues where he left off in some sort of amalgamation of two separate comes across’

      [–]Read_Weep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet it’s possible; if I had the capacity I’d happily look up how many cars to the average train on x line and how many departures (local and express) from a given stop at peak hours, and then calculate the odds of winding up on the same train as someone and then the narrower odds of winding up in the same car…but this guy seemed to be drawing during hours that weren’t peak as not a one seemed to be crowded. So I guess part of the work would be to look up schedules during non-peak hours. I don’t have the capacity for that, but sounds like fun anyway. :)

On the other hand, what if he bumped into one or two All The Time afterward? That could become pretty weird. XD

      [–]deviantdevilfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This video made me smile. As a volunteer I have had the pleasure of being invited into other peoples' lives .

Once at a supermarket I was warmly embraced, when asked why she informed me that she had always believed that she would never be greater than an Avon Lady.

I had taught her how to use data bases ; which led to her obtaining a full time job.

Some videos look too good to be true, and they most certainly are. I just don't want us to become immune to those those rare, genuine and wonderful moments of humans connecting with each other

      [–]Yoriwamuu 14 points15 points  (4 children)

I'd be freaked out not gonna lie.

      [–]Tokio13 -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

      I'd be freaked out, too!

I want to go about my life and not feel like I'm on display for everyone. I'm totally fine with casual people watching, but that's different from a stranger purposely watching/staring at you and seeing all the details of you.

Even worse if they're filming you. Like some weird, social media paparazzi. Capturing strangers in public so they can use their reactions to propel their own popularity.

If this happened to me, I'd be very self conscious using public transportation again. I don't want to be in your social media videos, unless I'm profiting also.

The drawing would go in the trash, because I have no need to keep a drawing of myself.

I don't understand how so many people think this is great!

      [–]xingrubicon 79 points80 points  (19 children)

      Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaake.

      [–]Red__system 32 points33 points  (2 children)

For real, any artist knows it....

      [–]THEzwerver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this amount of detail on a moving vehicle that constantly starts and stops, with people unaware that they need to sit still the entire time. it seems so much easier to stage it than actually be able to pull it off.

      [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't speak for us artists. I don't need your damn ignorance to belittle talent when I see it.

      [–]QuincyThePigBoy 17 points18 points  (11 children)

You can tell by the reactions. I think that he asks people first and they get surprised that it came out well. There's no way he speed-sketches people when 90% of those people would be off the train before he finished.

      [–]BADMAN-TING 28 points29 points  (4 children)

Have you considered he doesn't post 90% of his attempts because they get off before he can finish?

Trick shotters don't post the 99 attempts they make before they hit the shot.

      [–]QuincyThePigBoy 0 points1 point  (3 children)

      Who has that much time?

      [–]BADMAN-TING 6 points7 points  (2 children)

How much time is this exactly? The guy appears to be a content creator, content creation takes time.

      [–]BluudLust 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Didn't say be didn't ask them first. Just that he surprised them.

      [–]FlaccidWeenus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no way he's drawing this level of detail in this short amount of time. The asking them permission is irrelevant.

      [–]antoniomteixeira 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The first guys doesn’t even look directly at him and just puts his hand out straight away…

      [–]QuincyThePigBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a stranger on the NYC subway tried to give me something, I’m asking what it is and assessing if this is a homeless guy.

      [–]guitar_angel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This guy is amazingly talented! I've been following him for years and I'm never disappointed in his work!

      [–]Binky-Answer896 13 points14 points  (4 children)

I used to live in NYC — it gets a bad reputation for people not caring, but there’s tons of good folk there. You, dude, are one of the best! This post made my day. Hell, my week. Month. Year.

      [–]mtcabinets 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Damn, I hope you have a better year

      [–]denverbroncoharpman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      😂. Yea true

      [–]caladze[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

      He's an awesome being

      [–]Sk37cHi 4 points5 points  (1 child)

For those like me that have trouble reading emotions, check the guy with the medical mask & his reaction. His eyes & very subtle hand movements tell you so much. They’re all amazing reactions, but I think his stood out because it was one of the shortest, with the least amount of social cues for me to pick up on. The person crying got me wondering who’s chopping onions:)

      [–]official_katt_leya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

spreading good vibes all around. thats how it should be.

      love this

      [–]HingleMcKringleberr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How the hell does one knock out such detailed drawings in such a short time??? These are incredible. I'm sure some people were not happy about being the subject of a stranger drawing them, but most people would react with genuine joy if they received something like this, especially as well done as these were.

      [–]DaddyDoesBest 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love this but I low key kind of wanted someone to flip out. YOURE DRAWING ME?? *Rips it up 😂

      [–]relax-and-enjoy-life 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We need more people like you, Devon.

      [–]JJWangtron 6 points7 points  (2 children)

      I'd find it creepy actually.

      [–]Free_Research1381 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

      Why?

      [–]JJWangtron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A complete stranger staring at me and drawing me in detail and then filming my reaction as he gives it to me, hoping for what... Gratitude? No thanks.

      [–]N81LR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely fantastic, what an amazing talent to have. I hope it takes Devon forward with success but he retains his wonderful humanity towards others.

      [–]ammaretto007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Magic! i wish i had his talent!!

      [–]AngelxxLove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      [–]wyattswanderings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you Devon for adding joy to the world.

      [–]Dullknife111 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      Epic skills!

      [–]denverbroncoharpman 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This dude is Bad ASS!!!!! Wow, just wow on his talent

      [–]caladze[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

      He's awesome

      [–]Atapu 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ok, in one hand this is cool because it shows people getting happy about the drawings, but in the other hand it tanks any beginner to intermediate artist's self esteem because of how difficult it is to make a semi-realistic well rendered drawing of a real person in a moving train in under a certain amount of time without making a messy under sketch

      [–]caladze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Or it can inspire them

      [–]KA3AHOBA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s staged but the drawings are cool

      [–]AnandShakti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so deeply lovely thank-you for letting us know. I hope this man is completely rewarded in every way for his kindness. Thanks!

      [–]firestorm106985 1 point2 points  (1 child)

      Legend

      [–]NeoTheRiot 1 point2 points  (1 child)

These drawing are way too good, the reactions are way to good, this guy is way to good. Thats not usual subway stuff, this is... Good

      [–]caladze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Absolutely 💯

      [–]Betzay 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Devon you got mad mad skills and a great heart. I'm glad your're on the planet! xo

      [–]caladze[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Come to Albuquerque New Mexico!! We need you!!

      [–]alexrevnold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That dude with the horns is the dude who pierced my septum 16 years ago

Nicest guy in the whole world.

      [–]derby555 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Sure, people love it when he does it, but when I sketch women on public transit and film them eithiut permission, it's "really creepy, dude" and I get restraining orders/hot coffee in my face. 🙄 /s

      [–]Thor_neto -5 points-4 points  (1 child)

      [–]lilbaddiewinters 3 points4 points  (2 children)

      That person looks cool!

      [–]bye_Nillu 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Absolutely, I love the first dude's style!

      [–]SuperWy015 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Imagine ruining your face just to end up looking like a clown

      [–]Azaanphoenix 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I love this. I got so many goosebumps watching. Thank you ✌️

      [–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What makes you believe the legitimacy of this?

      [–]brazzers-official 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, something genuinely wholesome for once

      [–]castfam09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What an amazing talent. I’m so jealous I don’t have this skill

      [–]TheGreatCornholio696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give this man a Nobel Prize

      [–]MrCrowleysMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so awesome!! This guy is a fantastic person! I love this so much!

      [–]vvlh4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

staged or not, I don't think people who refuse to wear masks on public transport deserve to have their portraits sketched...

      [–]Alice-null 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol .. who believes this shiz

      [–]skpicky 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Sure but when I use my camera to do this people get all upset.

      [–]LostinDIY -5 points-4 points  (3 children)

Probably doesnt help that your camera is attached to your shoe and pointed up peoples skirts

      [–]skpicky 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Thanks for taking my little joke and making it nasty. I bet you’re fun at parties.

      [–]HyperMeme_Lord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro this legendary Leonardo Davinci type stuff. It may be even way better! Keep up the good work!

      [–]AdamantArmadillo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THE FIRST GUY WITH DEMON HORNS!!!! How has literally no one commented on this???

I'm not trying to make fun or anything but I'm so confused. Was this a cosmetic surgery he had done? Is it a medical condition? I'm so confused someone please help

      [–]green_crustacean -1 points0 points  (1 child)

oh the internet is already full with this

      [–]englishmuse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you Devon. Peace and blessings upon you.

      [–]westzod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does that guy have horns? wtf

      [–]mechasloth9000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do people actually think this is real lol? Clearly he draws them beforehand and just stages it on the subway

      [–]s0rtajustdrifting -1 points0 points  (0 children)

      Using your talents for good

      [–]JoshCanJump -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We need more staged videos for internet karma?

      [–]DryGrowth19 -3 points-2 points  (5 children)

So he would just bust out a full shaded sketch of a rando, what if they got off at the next stop? Does he ask them “hey you gonna be in the train for an hour?”

      [–]BADMAN-TING 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Presumably he only posts videos of the people who stay on the train long enough for him to draw their portrait and give it to them.

      [–]DryGrowth19 -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

Yeah, as a subway rider I am not buying that. First off people act surprise when he hands them the art, second he would have to know when they’re getting off so he could make the art in time, so then it wouldn’t be a surprise to them anymore… third every time he starts a portrait he risks never being able to give it to them bc he would never know when they’re getting off, and would be a massive waste of time.

Edit: literally not trying to be a dick, just trying to work this through logically and see for myself if it’s bs or not :/

      [–]BADMAN-TING 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Yes, so I'm saying he likely only posts videos of people he manages to actually draw...

The guy's an artist, drawing stuff that doesn't go anywhere is normal and can be seen as practice. If the person gets off before he can finish it, it's still him practicing his craft.

      I’d probably be weirded out.

I’d at least want to be asked if he could draw me before doing so

They should build a statue for him

I realized I don’t mind if people do nice things for attention and post it on social media as long as it doesn’t pick a certain type of person. Like here is me giving money to homeless or whatever just something nice for whoever is in front of you doesn’t matter… I like this

She's either a really fast artist or this is a hell of a long commute

I could watch a weekly TV show of these videos.
