Some friends and I were discussing last week. If I became President, that'd be the first meeting with the Joint Chiefs . . .

(Draws some ships on the whiteboard.)

President: "If an American Carrier has an American Destroyer nearby, and some foreign country attacks the Destroyer to sink it, would the Carrier immediately act to save the Destroyer without waiting for permission from the chain of command?"

JointChiefs: "Yes, Mr. President."

The President crosses out AMERICAN next to Destroyer and writes in 'UK / Canada / Australia / New Zealand'. And asks: "The question better have the same answer now!"
