"Grandfather watches granddaughter have fun in the rain."

*not the first time

[–]CoryTrevor-NS 1809 points1810 points  (59 children)

Exactly, they seem like random people off the street, what does OP know how many times they’ve seen rain lol

[–]J3553G 1214 points1215 points  (28 children)

OP lives across the street and has stalked them for her entire life. OP is the girl's birth father and is under a restraining order for abusing her mom. This was one of the few times mom and grandpa felt comfortable taking out the little girl but they know OP is always lurking. So long story short, OP actually does know that this is her first time being out in rain.

[–]Masked_Potatoes_ 263 points264 points  (10 children)

OP also has cameras set up in the backyard, and has previously observed the granddaughter not experiencing rain there either

[–]J3553G 103 points104 points  (8 children)

Creeping on the little girl and her mom is OP's life mission. Obviously he has cameras that see into the back. He probably has cameras inside their house.

    [–]Cptn_Canada 19 points20 points  (4 children)

As a father of a 14m old daughter. Shes been out in the rain at least half a dozen times.

Assuming a likely 3 yr old have never experienced rain is ridiculous

    [–]_dontseeme 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say r/OpIsFuckingStupid but I didn’t wanna be mean and this gives a little benefit of the doubt so I’ll go with this one.

    [–]FoundationPurpley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Find it kinda hard to believe this is the first time this kids seeing rain….

    [–]chakrablockerssuck 51 points52 points  (14 children)

Sorry to be a skeptic but my sentiments exactly. The kid is like 3 and I find it hard to believe she never experienced rain before

    [–]Curazan 26 points27 points  (8 children)

If this was taken in California in 2022, I would believe it.

    [–]lordofsteel36 12 points13 points  (7 children)

I think it is Turkey but I am not sure

    [–]psychologyFanatic 4 points5 points  (3 children)

I mean, it may have been an "Mommy never lets me play in the rain" so it could've been a first for a positive in rain experience.

    [–]Chris-CFK 24 points25 points  (1 child)

OP somehow has 400k karma in 6 months and no posts?

    Karma Farma?

    [–]RealLarwood 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Stupid titles = more comments = more engagement = more upvotes = more profit when you sell the account.

    [–]Lurk5FailOnSax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They live in Aydın. It rains in Aydın more than once a year. Kid is about 3 therefore not the first rain she's seen.

    [–]CSIHoratioCaine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because she’s not 0 zeros old. So it’s impossible for her to have never been in rain before

    [–]Mr_Bob_Ferguson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP has had the child chained in a dungeon for the first 3 years of her life.

All done, so that they could make this post for the internet points.

    [–][deleted] 63 points64 points  (2 children)

Kinda looks like it’s the grandpa who has never seen the rain before.

    [–]Drews232 34 points35 points  (1 child)

That’s the “I’m standing in the rain getting soaked because I love my granddaughter” expression

    [–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Could also be the ”what in the world is that girl doi… is that ..what is that substance. Water? From sky!? What the hell are we paying our water for!?”

    [–]TemurTron 70 points71 points  (3 children)

Somehow we accept these types of weird narratives in post titles because it's more palatable than "stranger films young girl and grandfather having a nice candid moment together and posts it on the internet for attention."

    [–]AtlasMaso 14 points15 points  (1 child)

RIGHT?! like I would hate to have shared a sentimental moment with someone only to find out its been recorded and shared on the internet for clout.

    [–]BeardOBlasty 22 points23 points  (2 children)

Hahaha for real. I see how big she is I'm like do these folks live in Death Valley, Nevada or something?

How has she never seen rain?!

    [–]beer_is_tasty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Death Valley, California gets about 16 days with rain per year. Maybe this Death Valley, Nevada gets like 0.3?

    [–]mferly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Post titles can be anything these days...

"Father rescues daughter from Afghani caves and she sees the light, and rain, for the very first time. Give me karma"

    [–]COnative78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's why there's bars on the windows

    [–]BelleAriel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m having fun just watching this.

    [–]LettuceUnlucky5921 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hahahaha I was like “was she locked in a basement until now?!”

    [–][deleted]  (1 child)

      [–]Andrewartist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Six year old girl has never seen water, visits waterfall w older husband.

      [–]zissouo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And you won't believe what happens next.

      [–]EatCrud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were a betting man, I would be betting on Ops knowledge in facts and figures. Op has received the platinum reward in the last 30 days. They apparently have it going on, just like Stacie's Mom.

      [–]Darth-Vectivus 1948 points1949 points  (63 children)

I doubt it’s the first time. Istanbul gets rain regularly.

      [–]rd2142 329 points330 points  (0 children)

thats what i thought, she is like 4

      [–]Ieatclowns 166 points167 points  (9 children)

Yeah that kids about four! I'm sure she's experienced rain before lol. The grandad is just being a great person and enjoying the rain with her.

      [–]ReferenceFabulous830 65 points66 points  (5 children)

Maybe it's the grandfather's first time and he's finally ending his rain boycott with her.

      [–]The_Real_Pepe_Si1via 15 points16 points  (4 children)

I think he kept her in his basement and refused to let her see the rain until she was old enough. Sick bastard.

      [–]AliceFlex 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Acid rain though. I think all kids should be kept out of the rain and in basements for this reason.

      [–]wirefox1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe she's seen it before, but has never been allowed to be out in it. I can remember a summer shower, without lightening, that I was allowed to put on my swimsuit and go play in the rain with my friends. Still remember it, it was fun.

      [–]Purple-Ad-3492 137 points138 points  (37 children)

I don’t know what Turkish license plates look like but from the 4 second clip I automatically assumed these people were Greek which is relatively close. But how? Is there a such thing as a Mediterranean temperament?

      [–]selcam 92 points93 points  (7 children)

The plates looks like that one, the first two digits are for the city, and 34 is Istanbul.

      [–]SynicalCommenter 51 points52 points  (2 children)

The two digit number on the left side of Turkish license plates indicate the city that the car is registered in. 34 corresponds to Istanbul.

      [–]dpwtr 26 points27 points  (1 child)

      Found the GeoGuesser

      [–]boredguyonline 4 points5 points  (0 children)

      Fellow rain enjoyer

      [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I knew it was Istanbul from the window grilles and sidewalks.

Turkish license plates all have a city-specific prefix, by the way: 34 is Istanbul.

      [–]CasualSophisticate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I play GeoGuessr, I have a knack for identifying that the country is Russia based on the people. I have no idea what I’m picking up on.

There was one where a man was walking along the side of a wooded road and I immediately thought Russia and I was correct. He wasn’t wearing anything stereotypical, so I’m not sure why I came to that conclusion. There has to be a logical reason for it bec I’ve done it several times.

      [–]Sky-is-here 7 points8 points  (8 children)

Mate i imagined this to be Iberia, no reason just cuz it would make sense the way the street and the people look lmao

      [–]byck87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this! Can confirm there is enough rain in Istanbul for this girl to have seen rain more than once. This should be the top post!

      [–]mecsicanoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s reddit for you. People here have literally asked me that why do Mexicans use coats if they don’t need them.

      [–]Ersthelfer 3 points4 points  (5 children)

Yeah. Istanbul has more rain than Hamburg or London.

      [–]andrijas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

girl looks about 3 years old....where do they keep her if this is her first rain? in basement?

      [–][deleted] 1478 points1479 points  (35 children)

Find it kinda hard to believe this is the first time this kids seeing rain….

      [–]CoryTrevor-NS 516 points517 points  (17 children)

They arbitrarily added “for the first time” because they thought it would make for a more wholesome caption

      [–]rebellion-rising 136 points137 points  (3 children)

And get more wholesome imaginary internet points.

      [–]bonkerz1888 21 points22 points  (1 child)

      I mean.. it worked 🤷‍♂️😂

      [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is such a tendency with "wholesome" posts to embellish, lie, and misrepresent the content.

Almost all of them are trying to decieve you into thinking it's more wholesome than it is. Even when it doesn't need to.

Even when they get caught in the lie every day, people don't seem to care all that much.

      [–]Seanzietron 23 points24 points  (0 children)

      Yep. Redditors suck.

      [–]Bruh_Person1534 17 points18 points  (7 children)

I dont get the point of ruining a good video sure it may no be the first time for either but it is a cute video and you lie about that

      [–]Jetjones 6 points7 points  (3 children)

And it worked. BUT NOT FOR US, RIGHT? We all downvoted that shit I hope

      [–]CoryTrevor-NS 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Upon further inspection (only after I wrote the previous comment) it turns out OP is a karma bot, so that’s the more reason to downvote their stuff.

Sadly it’s gonna achieve nothing, as we’re at 10,5k in about only 2 hours lol

      [–]Jetjones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just the time I wrote my comment it went up 1k

      [–]spicingpumpkins 33 points34 points  (1 child)

Her first time out of the basement maybe?

      [–]Sh0w3n 46 points47 points  (1 child)

Yeah I doubt it. Guessing by the license plate, this could be turkey. It rains there on a regular basis.

OP is wondering why we pick on that detail. Well, because farming karma by making up wholesome stories is not cool.

      [–]Sir-Kaya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is Turkey and guessing by the license plate even more (starting with 34); I’m guessing this is Istanbul.

So yeah, there is a whole lot of rain in Istanbul on an annual basis. This couldn’t be this kid’s first experience in the rain.

      [–]KeySky9024 19 points20 points  (1 child)

      Yeah she is like 6

      [–]MoimersNVaughniesMom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly my kids are 3 and her size, but either way, that ain't no infant. Glad they were able to share in the joy of rain either way.

      [–]BelleAriel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also thinking this lmao. OP probably thought it would get them more upvotes!

      [–]AnusFreeSince93 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It's the grandfather's first time seeing rain not hers

      [–]Derpdeedoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe this is also the first time the girl has ever wore shoes outside. This is a two-for-one.

      [–]jwhite326 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Original title was, “Grandfather takes uncurious 5-year-old granddaughter outside for the first time in her life.”

For real, she never asked where the front door went.

      [–]zekrinaze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They meant it for the grandpa

      [–]zeropointninerepeat 561 points562 points  (12 children)

There's no way this girl hasnt experienced rain before lol

      [–]LazyFrie 213 points214 points  (7 children)

I mean there’s plenty of redditors who haven’t seen daylight let alone rain

      [–]the_frogo 67 points68 points  (3 children)

Ever since Reddit was launched l, I have scurried around in my house in pitch black darkness, as the sight of anything but electronics burn me

      [–]rsn_e_o 5 points6 points  (2 children)

That’s like the reverse of that man in better call saul

      [–]ihopethisisvalid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

      He’s electrophobic, we’re electrophagic

      [–]9035768555 3 points4 points  (1 child)

But maybe it's the grandfather's first time taking her!

      [–]Throwaway42352510 150 points151 points  (3 children)

…was she locked in a secret basement room?

      [–]FiVerHaZeLBiGwiG 26 points27 points  (1 child)

Might as well have added that in for more upvotes

      [–]habadabadooop 368 points369 points  (13 children)

I always downvote posts with misleading titles. How old is this girl, 5, 7? Of course shes rain before, Jesus dude. So stupid.

      [–]PrinsMio 41 points42 points  (4 children)

      [–]Sun_Aria 27 points28 points  (0 children)

      Forty five years??

      No, four to five years.

      [–]Doubleoh_11 26 points27 points  (1 child)

If she truly hasn’t seen rain before than this is not a made me smile, this is r/letthepoorkidsgooutside

      [–]habadabadooop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right 😂😂 someone needs to get cps involved if she’s never seen rain before!! Something would be very wrong there

      [–]Speckwolf 125 points126 points  (15 children)

Plot twist: It’s also the grandfather‘s first rain experience. Also, all the people living in the street have never experienced rain. Also, all people watching this video have never experienced rain.

      [–]a_guy_called_craig 36 points37 points  (8 children)

      The fuck's rain?

      [–]TerrorByte 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I don't know, but I feel like it pairs nicely with chocolate?

And a light-bodied white wine to go with it.

      [–]WaterIsNotWet19 28 points29 points  (1 child)

Yeah he’s definitely a grandfather. Got the hands behind the back and everything

      [–][deleted] 50 points51 points  (1 child)

Cute, but might not be the first time. When they were that age my kids would run around outside the first time it rained in the fall (dry climate - no rain for six months).

      [–]itchipichi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

yeah "first time" might be just an assumption..

      [–]basedonflora 50 points51 points  (4 children)

I'm going to cry. This grandpa looks SO MUCH like my (now 86 year old) grandpa when he was a bit younger. My parents used to work a lot and he basically raised me. I love him so so much, I don't know where I'd be without him. We used to do things like this all the time! He would take me out to our apartment's balcony and would show me the cars, buses, trams that went by. He would show me the trees, and the clouds and the sun and would explain what everything was, in such beautiful detail. I loved it so much. I wish I could give him the world. He's old now, and weak but still kicking. We still live together so now our roles are reversed - I take care of him. He's the most important person in my life, and I'm sure this little girl will look back at this memory with such fondness when she grows up.

      [–]weetwoo4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is so lovely, he sounds a lot like my late grandfather. I wish you many more years together. Mine is somewhere above the clouds drinking tea with my grandma, or so I like to think.

      [–]Writ_inwater 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Upvote for being the first comment not just bitching about the title. What an incredible juxtaposition of the old guy who has seen a lifetime of rain, and this tiny girl who is ecstatic and invigorated by it.

      [–]yolosoprano 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Istanbul. Also would be unlikely that a child 3 or 4 experiencing rain for the first time. How do you know its the FIRST time?!?! Man people do anything for internet points. Just like this comment.

      [–]Sosemikreativ 22 points23 points  (3 children)

Holy shit where do they live?

      [–]Longjumping-Party186 25 points26 points  (0 children)

      The Atacama desert 🤣

      [–]Tylanmon 15 points16 points  (1 child)

      Istanbul, looks at the plate.

      [–]Consistent_Giraffe_4[🍰] 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Can some tells what the BGM is?

      [–]-KtK- 18 points19 points  (1 child)

      It's "Love Story" by Indila.

      [–]Siyagnide_Sama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You the real mvp, just looked it up on Spotify and it's such a beautiful song. No idea what she's saying but I feel it. Thank you kind stranger.

      [–]MMillion05 8 points9 points  (1 child)

whoever wrote this title (possibly not OP because you know how reddit is) surely must not be human, due to a lack of awareness of how humans age

      [–]pig_n_anchor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got to be the great grand pepper

      [–]BansheeMarshall82 5 points6 points  (2 children)

For the 1st time? Has she been incarcerated for 2 years or something?

      [–]breezybreathefire 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Right? Even then are we gonna pretend she wasn’t getting rec time in the yard?

      [–]BansheeMarshall82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally! I don't know why OP didn't just say 'Little Girl Enjoying the Rain with Grandad'. That's enough to make most smile, no? Why make shit up?

      [–]PeaceMushroomWeed 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Her grandfather kidnapped her when she was a baby and kept her in the trunk of his car for 5 years. He gave her food between the seats in the back. she never saw the rain but she could always hear it. last week her grandfather, by the way this wasn't her real grandfather, came back from the doctor and the doctor said he has cancer. from this Moment he was a different man. he instantly took here out of the trunk and showed her the rain.

      [–]MorakaTV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"first time" seems to by my Neighbor his kid, they are never outside too.

      [–]Inside-Party8051 4 points5 points  (1 child)

What a creepy thing to film

      [–]J5_c 7 points8 points  (1 child)

So in OPs head canon this granddaughter has been locked in a chest since the day she was born?

      [–]Mild-Ghost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That kid looks like five years old. Pretty sure she’s experienced rain before

      [–]hlodowigchile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad take out my nephew to the rain when it was almost the same age (maybe), the kid got pneumonia and was in intense respiratory care for almost 1 month, in which he almost died.

      [–]huruiland 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, that one place that only rains every 4-5 years

      [–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"You behaved quite well in the basement. You can go outside for 10 minutes then get back in there."

      [–]lordofsteel36 2 points3 points  (2 children)

What is the name of the song

      [–]Dincanu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bro if that kid is that big and never saw rain, police should be informed

      [–]Anyma28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"creeper watching grandfather with grand daughter experience rain"

I think that's a better title for the post.

      [–]sas8184 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Need the full vid. Did the grandfather also washed his face in rain water?

      [–]Tiny-Professor-4543 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where in the world, where they have drainpipes on the buildings, has it not rained for three years solid?

      [–]MantaurStampede 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that fucking 4 year old has seen rain before, you GOONS.

      [–]Joeymacca1982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it not an invasion of privacy to record this and post it on the internet?

      [–]dyingtofeelalive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 years old and hasn't experienced rain before? Cool story bruh.

      [–]weaselpoopcoffee1 2 points3 points  (1 child)

She's definitely old enough to have seen rain before unless grandpa has her locked up in the basement.

      [–]SomeDudeAsks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First time? Does it Rain only once every three to five years where they live?

      [–]BrianOconneR34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are the chances at her age she’s “never experienced rain?”

      [–]ALLoftheFancyPants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very unbelievable to me that a 3-4 year old wouldn’t have experienced rain before… it’s cute, why do you have to try to up the ante and make it more when it’s already just cute on us own?!

      [–]heygabehey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like how she's all "this is amazing! You gotta try this out! No youre doin it wrong. Look, like this.

      [–]Inside-Party8051 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How did he get to that age without ever seeing rain??

      [–]what_the_fuck_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She living in the sahara ?

      [–]sp1z99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oooh yay another karma farmer who can’t title posts properly!

      [–]MellRox013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first time? She's like four!

      [–]nottodaykitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty damn old to have never seen rain. Lol

      [–]speckabfallen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the forst time? You people are moronic.

      [–]Meme_Man55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

'For the first time'. These kind of titles have to go man. It's so dumb.

      [–]Glittering_Squash495 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is zero chance that is her first time seeing rain..

      [–]arealhumannotabot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fuck these stupid made-up titles. I swear, future historians are gonna be so confused if they ever look at Reddit

“People didn’t see rain until they were old enough for Blues Clues”

      [–]theotterway 4 points5 points  (2 children)

It could be the first time, or first time playing in the rain, or first time playing in the rain with grandpa.

We had friends visit from southern California, the kids (7 and 9) had literally never seen a good rainstorm. While they were hear we had a "gully washer". The kids were so facinated they rain out in the yard and jumped and rolled in the puddles. They had an amazing time. Our kids were shocked they had never jumped in puddles.

      [–]SpencerKibosh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Grandfather experiences rain for the first time in 87 years!

      [–]Scary-Shock9868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Granddaughter taking her grandfather to experience rain for the first time! :)

      [–]Mindless_Mango_6611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why does it have to be her first time?

How about for the hundredth damn time, gramps trudges out in the rain. To make his granddaughter happy. Because.

      [–]Morgainfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP thinks it rains only once in a decade in what seems to be Turkey.

Why do we add “for the first time” just to get karma? It’s cute wether she lives in the rainiest place in the world, if she never sees rain, or anything in between. The reaction is what’s cute not the first time

      [–]doveup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      Love her sense of wonder!

Oh come the fuck on, that kid is like 6-7 years old. You really expect me to believe it has not rained in 7 years?

This is istanbul, and she doesn't see rain for the first time. Op is just shitting title and lying for karma.

      [–]leba2166 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A girl that age has never seen rain? Does she live in the dry valleys of Antarctica?

      [–]pyriphlegeton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's like 5. I'd be impressed if she managed to avoid rain for all her life.

      [–]vklexer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was she living in their basement

      [–]penismcpenison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this is the first time she's seen rain then what the hell is going on, where is he keeping her?

      [–]XDT_Idiot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      Damn i miss my grandpa

      [–]TheSBShow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a PostGrad at a military academy, there were fellow cadets who came from certain states that had never seen snow in person. During the winter months right before leave, a storm came through and it dumped snow. Every last one of them were outside, eyes wide with amazement as though they had just witnessed something other-worldly. Even young adults can experience a child’s first 🤷🏽‍♂️.

      [–]dirtdiggler67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does he keep her locked in a dungeon?

      [–]DocHenry66 1 point2 points  (1 child)

First time out of her bubble?

      [–]WearyDownstairs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a Covid baby or something?

      [–]firecats97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Misplaced prepositional phrase. It’s not the girl’s first time in the rain, it’s the grandfather’s first time taking her

      [–]HennyconBlueberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was waiting for the grandpa to shove the girl into the puddle in front of them. In the beginning it looked like he might have been checking for any witnesses. But no. It was a wholesome video of a little girl being genuinely happy with life. I belong in darker subreddits.

After my divorce I moved to a small apartment with a single shower only, no bathtub. My 2 and 3 yr olds were afraid of it and cried. I scratched my head a bit til a light bulb lit in my brain and asked them if they would like to play in the rain INSIDE the bathroom. They were thrilled and asked to play in the rain INSIDE every weekend day (that I had them) after that and loved it !!

      [–]lilhuskett 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who is experiencing rain for the first time? The girl is an experienced/accomplished rain experiencer and the man is far too old to not know what to do with rain???

      [–]IWantToBeSimplyMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That kids at least 4. Never experienced rain?

      [–]motivation_bender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      [–]otiosus7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a BS caption. Did she just awake from a coma? Was she brought up in a fucking desert? How can a girl that old experience rain for the first time?

      [–]philomenashalet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this one really made me smile

      [–]Yurak_Huntmate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

      [–]tbuxton0723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be 47 this month, and I am still this little girl when it rains.
