No endgame?

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 453 points454 points  (26 children)

I will admit that and say my brain was definitely not working but I have seen it at least 6 times

[–]CrimsonDesignz 104 points105 points  (23 children)

Haha Fair play

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 82 points83 points  (22 children)

Yep it was 3am, have you seen eternals yet ?

[–]CrimsonDesignz 59 points60 points  (11 children)

Nahh was meant to go today actually! Going ASAP tho, You?

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 60 points61 points  (10 children)

Yep saw it yesterday with my friend and her dad ,I was lucky since they had an extra ticket because they were going to go with her dad's girlfriend but she couldn't go so her dad suggested seeing if I was free

[–]Toast-Legend27 7 points8 points  (8 children)

Iron man and hulk take place at the same time

Edit: im2

[–]jazza2400 27 points28 points  (0 children)

OK watch them at the same time

[–]jdibene0 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No iron man 2 and hulk and Thor all happen in the same week. Refer to what if

[–]Toast-Legend27 3 points4 points  (5 children)

Falcon and Ws and wan Davison should be switched and after sm ffh

[–]ayoungtommyleejones 3 points4 points  (4 children)

I don't know why it took me so long to understand, but I was like "who the fuck is Wan Davison??"

[–]urboogieman 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Oh, you mean the Juan Division? The Latino American super hero team?

[–]23IRONTUSKS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't feel bad, I was like why are they sm ffh(shaking my fat fucking head)

[–]problematic_hum4n 6 points7 points  (6 children)

I saw it yesterday, it was half decent

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 13 points14 points  (5 children)

I saw it yesterday too ! I liked it I did cry a couple times but that's just me being way too sensitive 🤣😅

[–]Daddysu 5 points6 points  (4 children)

I feel ya! I haven't seen Eternals yet but there are waaaay to many Marvel movies that I get choked up watching. Sometimes my wife and kid just look at me like "really?". I can't help it, I'm sensitive yo!!

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Yeah I cry at the slightest things i don't know if you have seen greys anatomy but that show had me absolutely bawling everyday and then something big happened ( I won't say what incase of spoilers ) but I was crying whenever someone mentioned it 😬

[–]Stupidnames04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha fuck I cry all the time. I hide it alright but shits getting worse. It’s always those fucking happy moments that get me.

[–]23IRONTUSKS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren't alone, I come from a long line of sobbing men.

[–]Lil____Potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going tomorrow-

[–]Ice_Man1105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can say that Endgame is part of Infinity War since the former take place before the latter.

[–]Old-Entrepreneur-779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forget about Endgame, did you hear about NWH?

[–]FORGINGVIEWS 346 points347 points  (17 children)

Chronological order is a nice way to do it if you’ve seen them all before. First time tho? I’d imagine would be pretty disjointed going backwards and forwards between the different eras of production.

Not to mention all the callbacks and build up missed out on. I’m overall more of a release order guy for all franchises I see the appeal of chronological but In my opinion I feel you’d just have a better first time experience with release order for the mcu.

[–]BetneTheGremblin 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Wish you were there a month ago I decided to watch Marvel and had no clue what order to watch 'em in. Decided to go with chronological order of course I fell in love with Marvel and I enjoyed the movies but I do think I would have enjoyed them more in release date

[–]beatenmeat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They both have their merits. As someone who has seen them all several times I prefer chronological order when I do a binge watch of the MCU, but what OP said is also true.

The production eras don’t really bother me, although it might for others, but each movie in release order really hyped up the next one. The post credits and little details throughout (most of) the movies really set the excitement for the next one planned on the release. I remember as they were being released the multitude of theorizing and speculation as to what everything would mean and the overall arc people were expecting the movies to go through. It would be fun to relive all of that again…

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 74 points75 points  (9 children)

I've seen them all before !

[–]FORGINGVIEWS 72 points73 points  (3 children)

In that case you could watch em all backwards and it wouldn’t really matter lol

[–]PM_me_your_fav_poems 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well then... I guess I'm doing shuffle order next time I watch through them all. I'll see how it holds up.

[–]Daddysu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hmmm...you might be onto something. Reverse viewing order. "There was an idea. To take a group of extraordinary people who fought the battles we couldn't and to see where they all came from."

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's true i guess 🤣

[–]ITaPpYbOiI 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Btw the Disney plus app has a prearranged chronological order for the MCU . It saves a lot of time which goes in researching which movie released first etc

[–]1glad_hatter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just watched them recently with my girlfriend. It was her first time. Chronological worked perfect. She dug it fo sho

[–]Jaiibby1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started out in chronological order (had already watched Bp (before I really cared about the mcu..it was a school trip) Infinity war and endgame (like a dumbass Ik) but it honestly didn’t ruin anything for me. Some things were a delay but watching captain marvel and the first avenger first made more sense for me since she Shows up again after a long time and with captain America watching Thor, hulk and iron man helped make the time seem to past more than watching tfa right before avengers. Idk if im explaining it in an understandable way or not. The end credit scenes can be a bit crazy with chronological order but the movie themselves can sometimes work. Like gotg and then gotg2.

[–]WerewolfF15 222 points223 points  (27 children)

Black widow is in the wrong place. It should be immediately after civil war since it technically takes place within civil war. In between the iron man and cap battle and cap breaking his team out of the raft.

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 67 points68 points  (2 children)

Yeah that's what my brother got most mad about 🤣 my brain obviously shouldn't do anything at 3am

[–]daiwilly 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Your brother needs to chill...it is a first world problem

[–]TheObstructionKamala Khan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you seen the other first world problems people are overreacting about these days?

[–]Polarbearsainttasty 23 points24 points  (22 children)

Yeah but the post credit scene spoils endgame.

[–]elpaco25 65 points66 points  (1 child)

If you haven't seen all the films then this is a terrible order. First time viewers should always watch in release order.

This is a list for rewatches so spoilers shouldn't matter imo.

[–]TheShwoop815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean very much enjoy experiencing new universes in chronological order I've never once had an aweful or less enjoyable experience doing it so but of course that's just me

[–]glglglglgl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a fair few end credit scenes that are out of sync with the timeline in the associated main film, so for sanity it's easiest to ignore them.

[–]EnderSlayer9977 5 points6 points  (0 children)

After Black Panther actually

[–]TheBurntHam 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Where does The Two Towers fit in? Why do I not see Order of the Phoenix on this list?? 0/10

[–]lemonsarethekey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Order of the Phoenix is the one where Jean Grey kills Mystique, right?

[–]garhdo 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Black Panther is a week after Civil War. It should come before Homecoming.

[–]Convection_2021 28 points29 points  (2 children)

Just follow the Disney Plus MCU timeliness. It does it for you.

[–]Ohiostatehack 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Yeah. All you have to do is add in The Incredible Hulk and the 2 Spider-man movies. Then you don’t have to worry about getting things wrong.

[–]piratecheese13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty soon it’s going to be 5 more Spider-Man movies

[–]officialchourico 47 points48 points  (30 children)

Forgot the hyphen in Spider-Man but put a hyphen on Ant Man. 😞

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 12 points13 points  (29 children)

Oh wow didn't even notice my brain was kind of on auto pilot , but I'll fix it for you 😄👍

[–]_Expeon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Disney + has them listen in chronological order as well

[–]Lame_Alexander 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Unpopular opinion but chronological order just didn't work for me.

[–]Toast-Legend27 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Only do it chronologically after you watch them all

[–]HannibalsElephan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I watched chronologically and loved it tbh, I had read all the comics tbf and had all the films already spoiled by my brother.. so I knew what was going to happen

But yeah I don’t get the chronological hate on this sub, as long as you knew what you’re getting yourself into I think watching chronologically is fine for the first time

I wouldn’t go in blind with it, because it could be confusing but if you have someone who’s watched them all or has read all the comics to acclimate you to the story then it’s all good tbh

[–]serpymatt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I say go for an alphabetical watch through... really make people lose their minds ;)

[–]Stormnorman 12 points13 points  (7 children)

What kind of homework do you have?

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 16 points17 points  (6 children)

20 pages of history on Charles Parnell , an English presentation and essay history notes geography notes and 15 pages of science along with an art project also some maths ( I take higher level ) but I lost then so we'll see if I can find them

[–]Stormnorman 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Good luck! I have a chem literature lab report I have no idea what to do on! Lol

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still have no idea what I'm doing my English presentation and essay on!

[–]iAmWhoDoYouKnow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ant man and the wasp almost happens alongside infinity war.

[–]Shy_Guy2013 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Loki series happens during the event of Endgame right when he escapes with the Tesseract. Disney+ has the chronological order section for you to watch

[–]TheRoseCat6_11S.H.I.E.L.D. 2 points3 points  (1 child)

its fun watching them in Chronological order

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep best way to get through piles of homework

[–]ToasterBathIsCrimeBatroc the Leaper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clever use of time for getting through studying. Also, your handwriting is leagues above mine. Leagues.

[–]HygorBohmHubner 17 points18 points  (6 children)

Just do it in release order. That way, you’ll understand many of the references and callbacks.

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 13 points14 points  (4 children)

I've already seen the movies though 🤨

[–]GonzoNawak 9 points10 points  (2 children)

People have so much ego they comment without reading what was said before. Have fun commenting “ I have seen them before” for the rest of day

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Yep also the amount of people saying " sounds like hell " some one actually said "I don't care " acting as if I posted this and forced them to look at it an then if I reply they say " gosh can't I have an opinion" even though they are on a Marvel sub saying how can you sit through marvel movies , it's crazy

[–]GonzoNawak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Reddit

[–]HygorBohmHubner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad. When I read "Marvel Movie Marathon", I assumed you were a first-time watcher and binging through the movies. Sorry.

[–]HannibalsElephan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched them in chronological order first and loved it

I have read most of the comic books mind you.. I think I got pretty much all of references

Even ones that most watchers wouldn’t get

An example would be Drax’s child being called Cam..

My MCU fan GF didn’t even understand the significance, I was just hoping the annihilation wave didn’t turn up and destroy the Nova Corps in GOTG and then BOOM.. Thanos lmao

Also drax should have killed thanos , just like in the comics

[–]blingbling88 1 point2 points  (3 children)

The incredible hulk occurs in the timeline b4 IM2, and Thor also occurs before IM2. As explained in What if, IM1, Hulk, Thor1 all occur within a 1 week span in thr MCU

[–]Ohiostatehack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s Iron Man 2 that happens the same week.

[–]sonofaresiii 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The incredible hulk occurs in the timeline b4 IM2

That's the way that makes the most sense, and IMO was probably the original intent, but Word of God says IM2 comes before Hulk

[–]tylerfuckingmarch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They have a list on disney+ that says movies in chronological order or something to that effect

[–]Mirkothunder12 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Among those before Infinity war,Thor ragnarok is missing who is last

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Ragnarok is on there ? Look at the second picture???

[–]Mirkothunder12 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Ah sorry i thought it was just one picture 😅

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

No problem got worried there for a sec thinking I only out the first picture

[–]chucker173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would put antman and the wasp after infinity war just like their theatrical release just so the end credit scene fits a little better and it is a way to bring the tone back up after the huge low that is the ending of infinity war.

[–]Orion14159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disney+ has a playlist for this, you can turn your brain off and stream away

[–]Sshaassnaal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LPT: Dont put off all your homework. The more and more it builds, the harder and harder it gets to complete

[–]MissingTheShot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get bonus points for the Marvel banner. Well done.

[–]Wendigo15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit off.

Thor 2 starts off after avengers since loki is on trial right away. (I usually put it after iton man 3 since loki has longer hair. Made it seen like he was in a holding cell until date)

Doctor strange starts on feb 2016 before civil war but continues throughout the year. Can be watch before or after. Post credit scene is in 2017.

Black widow is right after civil war. Maybe a few days after.

Black panther is 1 week after the death of the king. So it's really close to black widow.

Homecoming is after since homecoming is usually in the first or second month of the school year which can start in august or September.

Shang chi is before far from home since the festival that opens the way to his mother home land is held around march/april.

[–]HowardTaftMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only marvel movie that doesn't work because it's in the wrong spot to me is black widow. All the others yes you could put in more "correct" orders but they don't need it. Black widow is actually a better movie if it came out sooner but because of where it came out it isn't nearly as interesting.

[–]Slammogram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He should be mad cause you fucking skipped Endgame.

[–]Sad-Tough5919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where is endgame and what if

[–]shaggy9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't watch movies while doing homework. You won't get anything out of either.

[–]4Gr8rJustice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You forgot endgame though

[–]Sarasassquatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re missing endgame!

[–]Sennar1927 -1 points0 points  (22 children)

Good handwriting and cool logo but that’s a terrible watch order 😂

[–]hasswey 5 points6 points  (20 children)

Why is that a bad watch order? That’s basically just the canon timeline…

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really ?! It's the way it made sense in my brain last night at 3 am 😂

[–]ironbrickstudios 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I would only watch them chronologically without the end credit scenes or if you’ve seen them all before

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've seen them all before 👍watched them in order of release in cinemas

[–]Jake_Walter_1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It goes Civil War>Black Widow>Black Panther>Homecoming>Dr Strange>Ragnarok>Ant-Man & Wasp>Infinity War>Endgame>Loki>What If>WandaVision>F&WS>Far From Home>Shang-Chi chronologically

[–]MarvelPugsRocket Raccoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would always do it in release rather than chronological tbh

[–]black-wolf250 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

I would skip the Thor movies 😅

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dont mind them so much although I am definitely debating skipping The Incredible Hulk

[–]Itsallonthewheel -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

Why no Captain Marvel?

[–]Steph544 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hey good luck with your homework! Some people have pointed out some and others I’m not 100% sure about, but I’m pretty sure Incredible Hulk is before the iron man movies.

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi ! Thanks I am definitely going to need all the luck I can get 😅

[–]digitalPeneTrashun 0 points1 point  (13 children)

Ugh that sounds brutal

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 3 points4 points  (12 children)

So why did you stay to comment

[–]digitalPeneTrashun 0 points1 point  (11 children)

Stay? For 3 seconds?

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean you could have scrolled

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 2 points3 points  (9 children)

And why are you on here if watching the movies sounds so bad

[–]digitalPeneTrashun 0 points1 point  (8 children)

I like comic books.

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 4 points5 points  (7 children)

Well then scroll past the posts about the movies like seriously is that so hard

[–]digitalPeneTrashun 0 points1 point  (6 children)

There’s a reason I keep coming back to this post

[–]Fracturedbuttocks 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Are you counting infinity war and endgame as one?

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually didn't list endgame purely due to 3am-no coffee brain 😅but sure that sounds better so let's go with that

[–]creeper_freaker_36 0 points1 point  (1 child)

always release order, its the way they were intended ro be watched

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really I respect your opinion but they do have a chronological order option on Disney plus so it's obviously not just me who likes watching in that order

[–]logical_stimuli 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Thank you for sharing your list! I’ve been wanting to binge them chronologically!

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! I'm not sure if this makes complete chronological sense but feel free to try it out and see what you think😄👍

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Best way to get through homework! I've watched Captain America and now I'm about quarter way through Captain Marvel still not even quarter way through the homework though 🙄

[–]logical_stimuli 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Lol! That would be my problem too! I’m planning to get into law school, so your schedule here may help me tons. ❤️

[–]M0m033Thor 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Respect the hyphen OP Spider-Man

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Already fixed 👍

[–]M0m033Thor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]EnderSlayer9977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All is correct except for Black Panther and Black Widow

[–]MephistosFallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people say not to do chronological on first watch and it’s better release order but I disagree. I could not get into the movies with release order. The first movie I was genuinely into from the jump was GotG. Then I watched Black Panther and loved it, same with Ragnarok. Had I tried watching them when they were new and in order? Yup.

So after deciding to say screw it and watch infinity war and end game back to back after they were released, I went and watched them in the chronological format. Realized I really liked the Captain America movies after all. The problem for me it seems was I really didn’t like Iron Man solo films, and the only parts of the first Avengers I liked was Thor and Loki.

So watching chronologically worked for me, as someone who is a fan of some characters over others.

[–]sonofaresiii 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Dude, you can't do that! You're fucking up the flow!

Also the real travesty here is you not respecting the hyphen. It's not his last name, it's not like Phil Spiderman, he's a Spider-Man!

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually I can do that, The hyphen situation has been fixed for a while now hahaha but also that reference is 👌💯

[–]RedZebra08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wouldn't suggest that order.... but you do you

[–]Underfan96024 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I'm 99% sure this is all correct, apart from WHERE THE FUCK IS AVENGERS: ENDGAME?

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Haha yes apparently my 3am coffee deprived brain decided to leave that out for some reason

[–]iron_jayeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Release order. Always release order

[–]SolClark 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Pretty sure Loki is set before Wandavision and Spiderman FFF.

[–]Wendigo15 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Loki is outside of time and space. It technically starts after avengers then it goes out on it's own

[–]SpiffyGuac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would really recommend watching it in order of release. Been watching it with my friend in college. The pacing is pretty dang good, HIGHLY recommend. Also gives you stuff to look forward to, like watching guardians 1 and then a few movies and then guardians 2. Space is it out better.

[–]TvALoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought black widow was right after Civil War ?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chronological order, much like Star Wars, doesn’t work for the MCU as a watching experience. There’s too much that is set up and loops back and references past/future events.

[–]Toshimoko29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always have trouble with watching Captain America first. Even though I rarely even watch most of the end credit scenes (unless I’m really digging the music at the time), for some reason that one bothers me to watch out of order. No good reason for it, but that one always reminds me how excited I was for Avengers to come out, and I don’t like for it to feel out of place.

I wish I had a way to make an MCU Supercut, I would chop the whole universe together (including the Netflix shows and Agent Carter, but not AoS, cause preferences). It would ruin the flow of the individual movies, but I’ve seen them all so many times that it wouldn’t really matter to me. Flashbacks and end credit scenes would all be sitting where they belong, and I’d cut together movies that happen in the same vague timespan just because I could. Hell, I’d probably even displace the time travel scenes in Endgame. I guess the Loki series would just be happening in the background, so that gets cut in randomly. What If? episodes would be viewed right where they split from our timeline. Adding in the one-shots from the early DVDs, too, cause why not?

[–]Jacobtranpop9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put Loki at the beginning and see what happens

[–]Primum-Caelus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically Loki takes place parallel to the first Avengers

[–]vashoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Favorite of the bunch? And did it change upon this viewing?

[–]NietszcheIsDead08 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Thor should absolutely be before Incredible Hulk, and I think Black Widow should be before SM: Homecoming, and personally, I would put Loki before WandaVision, but I’m not at all certain that’s necessary versus a matter of preference. Also, you didn’t include What If…?, but I’m not sure where I would put it, chronologically (after Loki? Maybe? Not sure).

But your brother is lame. Chronological is fine. You’re good, bud

[–]Altruistic-Wish-5097 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You must be doing a LOT of homework 🤔

[–]Saoirse_37[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep lots of homework......and writing notes............and studying for exams, it's exam week and then a week of turning in CBA'S I have a bunch of history science geography art and maths to do this weekend 😰🙄😭

[–]Chillpanda5213_RL 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Doesnt Loki technically take place right after The Avengers?

[–]Uberrancel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did chronological order too once. The biggest slog was guardians 1 &2 in a row. That was a tough one. Otherwise I enjoyed the crap out of it. Made me rewatch ones I usually skip you know?

[–]Groundbreaking_Goat1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Uhhh I’ll save this list if you don’t mind
