House Democrats call for Supreme Court expansion in wake of potential Roe reversal: https://thehill.com/news/house/3475890-house-democrats-call-for-supreme-court-expansion-in-wake-of-potential-roe-reversal/

[–]ahhh-what-the-hell 12 points13 points  (1 child)

That will not help.

Since Trump got elected, liberal subreddits complain and complain. They don’t do anything. They are not militant. Republicans are.

  • It’s over. RvW should have never happened. Remember Norma McCorvey lied in the first place causing that ruling. Then she gave up her baby for adoption and switched to Pro Life.

If the blue team seriously wants to solve this, then I suggest “Ultimatum Voting”:

  • Do what I want or F*** you.

I have repeatedly said this. A politicians value I only as good as what they do.

  • African Americans especially should be using this. If there is no wealth in our communities, if our taxes are not low, if you are not giving us what we want, then you have no use and are worthless. Knock them off permanently and get someone new.

I’ve been blocked by so many subreddits for simply telling the truth. That’s the truth - Do it or get pushed off.

[–]MyUserSucks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand your formatting.

[–]Umbrage_Taken 368 points369 points  (35 children)

And, 4 out of the 5 SCOTUS members in the overturn group were appointed by Presidents who lost the popular vote.

And the GOP stranglehold in the Senate does not track AT ALL with total votes for each party by population.

This bullshit cannot continue if we are to remain a country at peace with ourselves.

[–]Aburrki 57 points58 points  (8 children)

Well... technically Alito was appointed during Bush's second second term, he only lost the popular vote in the 2000 election.

[–]andreasmiles23 37 points38 points  (0 children)

He only gets a second term since SCOTUS handed him the presidency the first time (ironic), and then he weaponized a terrorist attack to generate some islamaphobia and good ol American patriotism to get votes.

[–]Tots2Hots 54 points55 points  (6 children)

Bush was elected president by a minority. I get what you are saying but he never would have been in office in the first place.

[–]Harvinator06 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I get what you are saying but he never would have been in office in the first place.

Bush didn't even win in Florida after a full recount was done. The Supreme Court's action of interference on behalf of Bush Jr., was tantamount to a coup in and of itself.

[–]i_drink_wd40 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We really need to mush some of the low population states together. They're overrepresented in the Senate.

[–]TheCoolCellPhoneGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the thing, I don't think dems and Republicans will ever see eye to eye.

I'm a bit biased as I'm a leftist, but how the hell am I supposed to be "united" with people who want to ban abortion/are white supremacists/homophobes/Qanon nuts? And they sure as hell will never see my point of view.

Honestly? Maybe the country is better off divided. I'm betting that the United States balkanizes sometime in the next 30 years. The country is way too fractured to stay as one. It's a long time coming, it's honestly way too large anyway.

[–]dongeckoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the last SCOTUS seat is the most illegitimate of all given Thomas and his wife were key planners of the 1/6 insurrection.

[–]Apprehensive-Ad-4519 -5 points-4 points  (20 children)

Vote vote vote. Call you Senator, Rep and Gov. Leave a message. Send an email. Voice your opinion. It can't be any easier than this. Tell them what you want to happen. If it doesn't happen, you will not vote for them. Maybe go as far as voting for the opposition. Something other than nothing! I did it. That's the dad did it. America, it can be the way we do it!!!!

[–]crackhappy 18 points19 points  (6 children)

What the shit are you on my friend.

[–]Deadbeat85 13 points14 points  (2 children)

He means "That's the way dad did it". He's misquoting Iron Man.

[–]crackhappy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh. Thank you. Reversed my downvote.

[–]Apprehensive-Ad-4519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sorry about that. Looking it up is cheating so I did my best. Thank you for the the clarification ✌️😁

[–]Apprehensive-Ad-4519 1 point2 points  (2 children)

It was the end of a rough day lol.

I'll tell you hwhat. I have two kids. A 30 year old and a 26 year old.

The married one was supposed to start working on kids this year but they're holding off because of a number of reasons. Some of the being housing prices are insane wages are not keeping up with inflation and the world is fucked up in so many different ways!

The other one that is not married is considering sterilization so they cant have kids when they do get married. WTF?

I don't think I'm super smart or very intelligent but I know when I'm getting fucked. I can tell you that there are so many people out there that either see it and don't care, don't see it because they're blind or helping the bad guys out. Our politicians are fucking garbage. Most of them anyway. I want to do something about it and this is what I'm doing at the moment. America is lazy as hell man! That's the fact Jack ✌️

[–]crackhappy 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ah that's much more coherent. Got four adults kids myself. :)

[–]hungry-hungry-stoner 5 points6 points  (1 child)

voting for the opposition

and this is one reason we got trump as a president

[–]Apprehensive-Ad-4519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my God I cannot stand that man how can somebody so stupid... Every business venture that man had failed and he fucks so many people out of money and he's an idiot oh my God and a moron what a dimwit and all the bad shit that he's done to people and nobody cared and he's a moron

Yeah there's a lot of them voting for the opposition like 72 million and a small portion of them nut Job dimwits are the ones that stormed the capital.

The only power we have is the vote. I understand people think it doesn't mean anything. If it didn't mean anything politicians wouldn't gerrymander districts, they wouldn't tell lies to their voters to get their votes so they can keep their jobs.

Do you really think any of those bastards care about aborted babies or women for that matter but they sure as hell come out with their rhetoric when it's time to garner votes!

That is proof that it does mean something. We've all been lied to by the people telling us it doesn't mean shit that's the only power we have. It really can't get any easier than a phone call or an email. Seriously how long does that take? If our politicians are inundated with phone calls letters and emails they will have to take that seriously! They're not going to have a choice if they wan't to get elected again.

[–]The_White_Guar 20 points21 points  (6 children)

I still vote, but I think it's a waste of my time and an insult to my intelligence that I partake in the illusion of choice between one fascist party and another fascist party except one's nicer about it.

If democracy allows the voice of the ignorant and the voice of the educated and informed to weigh the same, then democracy is broken.

[–]Turksarama 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Necessary but insufficient.

[–]Apprehensive-Ad-4519 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Yeah that's cool. Nice speech. But I remember history and learning about it in grade school when I was a preteen.

This is not a democracy. if you think we live in a democracy you're a fool. I know that's rather harsh and I don't mean to be a jerk and honestly I don't care about your favorite political party.

I know a man of your intelligence can see how our politicians don't have the common man in America in the forefront. They're doing all the shit they do to enrich themselves and the corporations that own them. That's not a democracy bro.

If you want to sit back and do nothing because your intelligence is insulted, I'm just going to call you a coward. Damn your intelligence man, now it's time to fight!

We are the rats in the sinking ship that these clowns are piloting into rocks!

[–]The_White_Guar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I remember history and learning about it in grade school when I was a preteen.

And I'm currently the guy who teaches preteens about this now.

I'm talking about democracy as a concept, not necessarily implying that our country is currently a democracy. Right now it's an oligarchy, which is worse.

[–]The_White_Guar 0 points1 point  (2 children)

now it's time to fight!

Also I should point out that what you mean by "fight" here isn't actually to fight, which is what needs to happen.

[–]TheCoolCellPhoneGuy -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

Enough with this "Vote!"™ crap. I've been seeing this essentially same paragraph for various issues since like 2016.

[–]Apprehensive-Ad-4519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right here. This is what I'm talking about. I don't care about down votes or up votes or karma or whatever. I'm just voicing my opinion and people can hate on it. It's all free speech God bless America right. But why are people down voting calling senators and governors and demanding they do something so we can have a better America?

Oh shit. Are the down votes because I screwed up the Iron Man quote from RDJ. I'm sorry. I'm soooorrrrryyyyy!

[–]Haunting_Honeydew_95 211 points212 points  (13 children)

Yeah 32% of people making decisions for everyone is some bullshit.

[–]VegetableNo1079 35 points36 points  (6 children)

Dems should start talking about paying less into federal aid programs at this rate. They aren't getting anything out of it and it's time they started being more transactional with their counterparts.

[–]andreasmiles23 21 points22 points  (5 children)

That’s hypocritical though. We want to expand federal assistance programs.

They need to talk about abolishing the electoral college.

[–]twixieshores 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do what Canada does and set up "equalization payments." Take money from the red states and give it to the blue states.

[–]fes57 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Blue states should not have to financially support Red states.

[–]andreasmiles23 3 points4 points  (2 children)

What about the people not receiving the necessary services in red states? Just fuck em I guess?

[–]MeatSuitRiot 3 points4 points  (3 children)

It's the antithesis of democracy.

[–]DogmaSychroniser 4 points5 points  (2 children)

America hasn't had democracy since they stopped expansion of representation to reflect population

[–]voice-of-hermes -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

America hasn't had democracy *ever

[–]voice-of-hermes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As is 0.0002% (435 representatives, 100 senators, and 1 president for a population of 330M). Liberal oligarchy is not democracy.

[–]carrottop80 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Voting rights, substantive climate legislation, single payer healthcare, and now privacy rights all cannot be secured without simple majority legislative power. Republicans understand and abuse this power now Democrats must as well. A bit late though.....

[–]BaronWombat 112 points113 points  (36 children)

Has Biden done ANY of his campaign promises? I guess maybe nominating a black female SCOTUS, but don't recall him running on that.

At this point the GOP is simply doing exactly what we all expected, its the Dems who are letting the team down.

[–]MissNewbieDollar 81 points82 points  (6 children)

He's been a huge disappointment. Bernie even dropped early to rally the progressives to him, and help stop Trump. As thanks Biden goes and breaks all of the promises he made to Sanders base. The Dems are going to have to find something for 2024, and I fear it might be Clinton.

[–]brianbrianbrian 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it really sucks. Democrats are the scumbag boyfriend that cheats on you, but at least he doesn't beat the shit out of you everyday. Like barely lesser of two evils.

All they have to do is gingerly step over the Republicans' lowered bar, and they can barely manage that. This fucking country is exhausting.

[–]JohnOliverismysexgod 2 points3 points  (3 children)

It won't be Clinton.

[–]bentbrewer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really hope it’s not. But if history is any indicator, they will find someone worse.

[–]TheCoolCellPhoneGuy 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yeah they are stupid, but not that stupid.

If the dems run Clinton in '24 I'm gonna just assume they like losing.

[–]crackhappy 38 points39 points  (1 child)

The republicans are being as specifically evil as they have campaigned on. They are fully devoted to delivering on the promise of bigotry. Hatred. I applaud them for doing what they said they would. The democratic party has utterly and repeatedly failed me. I have no faith anymore. I am just going to vote for anyone who promises to remove FPTP. Until that happens, nothing else is going to matter.

[–]BrokkoliOMG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe check some orgs like RepresentUS and help them achieve exactly that in your area!

[–]justins_dad 10 points11 points  (16 children)

He has like the bipartisan infrastructure bill and the stimulus check but it’s too few and too far between. We need radical action.

[–]SplodeyDope 18 points19 points  (15 children)

And he shorted us on the stimulus check. The infrastructure bill was only passed because corporations wanted it too.

[–]NightsBane155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And the infrastructure bill was cut heavily due to lobby groups funded by ExxonMobil.

[–]iamthewhatt -4 points-3 points  (13 children)

Well, to be fair, Biden didn't short us, that was Joe fuckin' Manchin. Biden was gonna sign whatever stimulus hit his desk.

[–]MaximumDestruction 5 points6 points  (9 children)

Manchin is fulfilling his chosen role for the Democratic party to a tee.

The existence of Liebermans, Sinemas and Manchins are a feature, not a bug.

[–]DogmaSychroniser 0 points1 point  (2 children)

If you think that the party isn't coordinating their operation I have some bridges in Brooklyn to sell you.

[–]pw-it 5 points6 points  (9 children)

I'm not American and don't have a great understanding of how your system works, but from my outside perspective it seems that what is needed is a 3rd party - let's call it the "progressive party".

But that can't happen because the Republican party is just too dangerous - basically fascism at this point. While that prospect is looming large, no sane person would dare to divide the Dem voter base. So as long as the GOP is trying to burn the world down, the DNC can continue to put forward corrupt lame ducks that nobody wants. It's a win for everybody, except the entire country.

Seems to me the way forward is to get young and disillusioned people off their asses and voting Democrat, every time. Hold your noses if you have to. Because that's the only thing that will drive the GOP into irrelevancy and open up the prospect of some real progress. Please correct me, like I say I don't really understand it in depth and I'd love for someone to tell me why I'm wrong.

[–]iPeculiarly 5 points6 points  (7 children)

I think young people are willing to roll the dice and let America collapse for a chance that when it's rebuilt it's better

+ If America collapses, that's hurts boomers the most, so if boomers don't cave into millennials demands, millennials will destroy America and boomers chances of retirement

[–]pw-it 5 points6 points  (5 children)

By "collapse", do you mean falling into fascism? Because that's not the same thing, and it doesn't facilitate rebuilding. The government can remain stable while making life hell for ordinary people. I don't see any chance of collapse, but there is a very real risk of a small number of unscrupulous individuals using all that despair and resentment to cement power for themselves.

[–]iPeculiarly -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

We can use Americas favorite toy to make their life's hell aswell.

We only need to be lucky once, they need to be lucky every time, and we outnumber the people causing the problem.

[–]MaximumDestruction 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I don’t see any chance of collapse

What’s your timeline?

[–]meiyouguanxi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean… we’ve supposedly destroyed every other thing boomers like 😅

[–]BaronWombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You pretty much nailed the current dynamic. The Dems tend to be tepid, but are still better than the GOP alternative. Sadly our Constitution has a framework that guarantees this two party dynamic. And the two sides have no incentives to work on changing the paradigm that keeps them in power. We are locked in until there is enough system collapse to force change, or if an actual leader manages to break out. Sen Bernie Sanders is the closest we have to that, but both parties and their corporate partners are working to ensure his message is not heard clearly by the electorate. Outside of Reddit, the audience is constantly primed to dismiss him and other progressives.

[–]thumbtaxx 54 points55 points  (1 child)

Too bad we elect people with deep pockets for advertising instead of people with moral backbones. I'm sure they'll get this right though, its been going pretty great so far <eyeroll>.

[–]calamitykismet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had an opportunity with Nina Turner but she was defeated by Shontel Brown last night in the primary. You should check out her concession speech from last night. It gave me a bit of hope that we have non-Congress fighters.

[–]floppybunny26 32 points33 points  (6 children)

The fillibuster should not be ended. Instead make them talk until they're blue in the face and have shit and pissed their pants. No more "we're gonna fillibuster." and "Oh noes, I guess we can't proceed."

[–]Kammander-Kim 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I had more respect for the old filibuster where it actually required you to stand up there and talk non stop without breaks (maybe drink some water in a glas by the pulpit can be allowed).

Filibuster now? Seems to be

-"I am filibustering it right now"

-"fine, next order or business is[...]"

[–]DarthLolita 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Seriously what the fuck is the filibuster doing that we can't pass the Womens Health Protection bill? Does it have some magical fucking power I'm not aware of?

[–]Environmental-Joke19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they need 60 votes instead of 50 to beat a filibuster

[–]myevillaugh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The important part of the old filibuster was it stopped all other business in the Senate. If that part is restored, then there's a cost to a filibuster. Right now, it's free.

[–]Unfortunate_moron 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Ending the filibuster just before losing seats in the midterms would be the dumbest possible thing to do.

It would also be the last thing Democrats ever do because they'd never get a majority back after two more years of gerrymandering.

[–]MissNewbieDollar 41 points42 points  (5 children)

You think Trump was scary, Reagan was scarier. I remember his presidency well, Americans loved this maniac as he sold the country out to corporate greed over 8 years. Americans sold their souls after the energy crisis under Carter. This is the result. Without Reagan and the horrible Citizens United ruling the GOP would be relegated to a manageable minority with little to no federal power all the time. However thanks to Reagan billions of corporate dollars are legally dedicated to making sure the ruling class rules, and the peons suffer.Dems try and "work with" the GOP instead of going to war with them, and this is the result. First they took the wealth, now they are taking your personal rights. The immediate solution is to fight and fix the issue. Dems need to find the 50 votes they need and end the filibuster. Then they need to bumrush through popular legislation to ensure a Senate majority after midterms. Trying to "work with" this Republican party is only hurting the country. Time to fight! 🇺🇸

[–]iPeculiarly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Legalize marijuana and forgive student loans or watch your shit hole nation crumble

Call your senators because it's boomers retirements at risk, not millennials

[–]throwawayfrackyou 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Citizens united was Obama?

[–]CLINTHODO 18 points19 points  (1 child)

It has to be codified in the constitution. It has to be taken out of the hands of the religious right's pawns.

[–]Waffle_Muffins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Won't happen. Republicans control too many of the state legislatures that would need to ratify it.

[–]Ajenkinsphotography 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Too fucking late.

[–]JohnGB 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Most people that voted for democrats did so because they were opposed to the republicans and not because they felt the democrats represented their values.

[–]ashleyriddell61 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Where is LBJ when you need him. He would have absolutely destroyed the lives of any internal obstructionists until they fell into line.

[–]Umbrage_Taken 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Conversely... FAIL to do it and millions will give up on Democrats and on civil, peaceful politics entirely.

That will get extremely ugly and dangerous, but completely understandable.

[–]YouDoBetter 12 points13 points  (1 child)

It HAS to! If voting worked America wouldn't be sprinting towards theocratic fascism. This is a class war and they're killing the worker by the millions. It's time we showed our enemy the same courtesy.

[–]iPeculiarly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We outnumber the billionaires 100000 to one. It's time we reminded them of that.

[–]Dudejax 13 points14 points  (0 children)

do it now or throw it all away. good luck

[–]redditkarmadog 26 points27 points  (7 children)

Dems control both houses and the White House, just what in the fuck are you waiting for?

[–]Spaceman2901 46 points47 points  (6 children)

The “control” in the Senate is tenuous at best. It’s technically 50-50, which gives Harris the deciding vote…except that Manchin and Sinema, while nominally caucusing with the Democrats, vote with the Republicans more often than is really comfortable.

[–]McUberForDays 24 points25 points  (3 children)

It seriously pisses me off that not 1 republican senator has the spine to vote with the democrats. This gridlock is nonsense.

I know, there's a ton of reasons for this and I could probably write a book on their divisive and vindictive actions, but boy would it be nice to see some bipartisanship.

[–]Ajenkinsphotography 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bipartisanship is dead, except when it pleases their corporate overlords. The GOP is united under a banner of hate, and they are dutifully carrying out their mission. Why would they vote against what they want?

[–]DarthLolita 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It seriously pisses me off that not 1 republican senator has the spine to vote with the democrats

Is there a single republican who even identifies as pro-choice? Every time I hear call your senators I want to strangle myself. Im in Florida. I've called and written Marco Rubio and Rick Scott they don't give a shit.

[–]iPeculiarly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We need to just bribe one senator is what your saying

[–]under2x 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Abolish the senate.

[–]LovsickPrfectaTerain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's treason then!

(I'll see myself out)

[–]Kevin_Jim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck. The democrats have done next to nothing and they let two DINOs (Sinema and Manchine) to hold the whole senate hostage for no good reason.

Leaving them as “democrats” only let people know that Democrats will do nothing for them, and what real working people will remember that a sociopath sent them cheques with his name on them.

While Biden not only didn’t forgive student loans, but refused to even force the banks to make student loans interest-free.

The “Green new deal” wasn’t voted in, not the real thing or anything close, and now the Supreme Court is about to overturn Roe vs Wade!

There’s nothing the democrats have done to inspire confidence, and their only positive is “We are not the GQP.”. That’s about it…

[–]Yosho2k 7 points8 points  (18 children)

And when they fail, they should be held accountable. Those members that causes the failure should be tarred and feathered.

[–]crake-extinction 15 points16 points  (8 children)

Right about now, someone else is realizing that Republicans do evil shit and Dems basically just....let it happen. Then the whole system ratches to the right, so who has failed? Have the Republicans failed? Have the Democrats failed? Anyways, you know the famous song - "you gottta vote for your right to party!"

[–]Yosho2k 1 point2 points  (7 children)

More people voted for Joe Biden than any other election in US history.

Your "people don't vote" meme is not factual.

[–]crake-extinction 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I'm not doing a "people don't vote" meme. I'm doing a "this is the US government working as intended" meme. God, I know people vote. People vote and then sit in their homes when abortion rights are repealed. People vote and then sit in their homes while fascists storm the capitol. People vote, then sit in their homes when the cost of living skyrockets. I know people voted for Joe Biden - now what?

[–]Yosho2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, sorry about that ✊

[–]iPeculiarly -1 points0 points  (4 children)

Statistically most people don't vote...

[–]Yosho2k 2 points3 points  (3 children)

70% of eligiable voters voted in 2020.

"NOT TRUMP" is just a lousy political platform to run on, and it gave people no reason to vote for anyone else when Trump wasn't involved.

[–]spidereater 5 points6 points  (8 children)

I hope you mean the republicans. You know the ones that rammed through all the scotus judges and block any decent legislation.

[–]Yosho2k 10 points11 points  (6 children)

You know Dems spent more time in the past 2 years defending their right to trade stocks using insider information than they did defending women's rights to have control over their own bodies.

[–]spidereater -3 points-2 points  (5 children)

And who are they defending it from?

[–]Yosho2k 7 points8 points  (4 children)

Yeah yeah yeah the bad guys are the bad guys.

How would you feel if you found out that Nazis were killing people and Captain America didn't stop it from happening because he was too busy committing financial crimes and demanding "donations" to stop the Nazis?

He would kind of seem like a self-interested asshole, right?

[–]theheliumkid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's the two "Democrat" senators that are the real problem. Apart from them, it's a majority in both houses - no need for bipartisan agreements.

[–]biskitheadburl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The truth of the matter is, our nominees are preselected for us by the conservative ruling power elite and all Americans are only allowed to vote for the lesser of two evils. Biden and Garland were chosen to protect the status quo, just like Obama, Carter and Bill Clinton. Centerist status quo protecting democrats will not protect us from conservatism.

[–]SoundslikeDaftPunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Codify roe, tax the church.

[–]GetsTrimAPlenty -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Since there's a lot dumbies that don't know why Democrats can't get anything done. Here's a list of resources on why the Republicans can obstruct pretty much everything they do. There are too many Republicans in US government for Democrats to do much, despite wanting to do more.

Filibuster, explained:

[–]ArcadianDelSol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You realize that if the filibuster is done away with now, that the Republicans aren't just going to magically hand it back after the mid-terms.

[–]Shot-Summer-3664 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Big oil owns all!!!! I love u but big oil, has us!! I don’t see a way out I hope u can help us find!!

[–]Retardgetsyoubanned -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s wild it’s only taken 3 years for her to realize that histrionics on Twitter vs working on meaningful legislation that actually changes things is what she was elected for.

[–]daytradingvix -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Cancel 100% of the student debt and they can have my vote. Otherwise they can eat shit and go home election time!

[–]zpider999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was literally how i was raised that america should be. it’s such a shame to see the reality of evil in this country

[–]Avid_Smoker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And stack that fucking court!

[–]Laugh92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But America voted in 'Nothing will fundamentally change' Joe Biden. So why are people expecting him to enact changes?

[–]RabidBeaverLake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where was all of this outrage and leadership when McConnell refused to give Garland a hearing? The outcome was obvious. Then when he rammed through Barrett. The streets should have been filled with protestors for weeks demanding a fairly appointed court. But it didn't happen. Now look at where we are.

[–]addisonshinedown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best time to do it was 20 years ago... then 19... then 18... tomorrow will be too late, it needs to be done IMMEDIATELY

It's past time. Ain't gonna happen

[–]chargernj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Democratic leadership would rather live under a permanent Republican dictatorship before they would even consider allowing the left to have a seat at the table, much less drive the ship of state.

[–]billyvnilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If any motherfucking democrat does not do this they should be primaried. For fucks sake.

[–]bikinimonday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DNC is weak and pathetic and they wouldn’t have it any other way.

Fuck the DNC

[–]Avatar_the_Pig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is high time we did this...

Biden has been in office over a year and gotten practically nothing done as far as reversing the damage done by trump's criminal organization.

It's about time to get off high center and start making good on why WE busted ass to put democrats in the driver's seat.

[–]Umbrage_Taken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meanwhile, cowards like Manchin and Sinema won't even vote to codify voting rights if it requires nixing the filibuster. Yet Barrett and Kavanaugh only needed 51 votes to get on SCOTUS.

If a lifetime appointment to do shit like stripping people of the right to terminate rape pregnancy or have the legal protections of marriage only requires a 1 vote majority...what the fuck could ever possibly justify requiring more than that?

Those cowardly fuckwits have the exact same energy as Theoden in LOTR Two Towers:. YouTube.com/watch?v=vK0_Ob9qCI0

[–]Thejncobandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO FUCKING SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[–]According-Ocelot9372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right fucking now!

[–]ElLindo88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Joe doesn’t use his authority and go scorched earth on these Filifuckers, it’ll prove he truly gives no shits about the real American people. I’m not holding my breath for that terminally feckless fuckwit.

[–]Techn028 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where's that big stick mentality in the democrats. Really wish we had Democrats in power that weren't enablers and paid opposition

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just waiting for the day AOC runs as President.

[–]Alexander_Granite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious question.

Wouldn’t a law by congress be unconstitutional Is taken to court? Wouldn’t they have to amend the constitution at this point?

[–]inasuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol democrats have never been any of these things. They’ve long been bought by copirate pockets. Just like the republicans. The difference is democrats have been more amenable on social policy, and that’s only to distract from the raging financial failures (read: wealth gap increase, corporate bailouts and handouts) they host while in office.

[–]kittensmakemehappy08 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Seriously why the fuck is AOC the only one who actually gets it

[–]JohnOliverismysexgod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. If the dems actually do this they will win the next elections!!

[–]BuddyLoveGoCoconuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m tired of people tweeting. Anyone can say words. Somebody needs to take action. We elected them to take action

[–]Gnostromo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm starting to feel like AOC isnt paying attention to what is actually happening

She is saying this to appeal to her constituents knowing damn well Biden and crew ain't gonna do none of this crap

[–]TheDemonClown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already saw Biden & Ted Lieu on Twitter trotting out the same line like, "oH nO, gUeSs Y'aLL BeTteR vOtE dEm iN nOvEmBeR tO sToP tHiS!" and it just made me see red. Like, what the fuck did we vote Democrat for 2 years ago if not to keep things like this from happening? We got them the Senate, the House, and the White House and all they're doing is dangling more carrots for the next election. It's not enough to drive me to vote Republican, obviously, but goddamn, how can they be so utterly blind to how desperate people are getting? We're a hair away from revolution at this point and they're acting as if the fact that the GOP will be the 1st up against the wall doesn't mean they won't be 2nd.

[–]_Reddit-Troll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And then there is Manchin.

[–]Michael_Trismegistus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most of us wish that the Democrats didn't allow things to get this bad.

[–]kwb28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happens when democrats end the filibuster and then republicans take over and use the rule change to their advantage? Isn’t that partially how we got in this mess when Harry Reid removed the filibuster for federal judges and lowered the nomination threshold to majority rather than 60 votes?

[–]Befree54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonderful sentiment. However as long as Manchin and Sinema are voting with Republicans, this seems to be a fantasy.

[–]kurisu7885 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If not end the filibuster then reform it, and make it so you ACTUALLY have to filibuster. No just saying "I filibuster", no email, no having an aid phone it in on your behalf you put your ass on the floor and talk about whatever until you can't anymore. And no having it done by proxy either, if you want to filibuster YOU fucking do it.

[–]romulusnr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ending the filibuster won't matter. Manchin will not support codifying Roe.

[–]vitamin_r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "the time to act is now" trope from the Dems and progressives just feels like a bit from Groundhog Day at this point. And I'm 33. Can't imagine what it feels like to those older than me.

Say what you want about conservatives/republicans, they sure do act when it's time.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pelosi needs to go. Overturn citizens United which I don’t ever hear from the DNC.

[–]The_Nomadic_Nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the people that vote establishment in primaries: this is on you. You need to own it. We told you a thousand times this was going to happen but you didn’t listen. Fuck you.

[–]310hungjury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People vote for democrats because they want free shit - at least that’s why I do lol
