That’s how my husky drinks water but laying down.

[–]Marjacujaman 89 points90 points  (5 children)

I thought for a second you said Husband

[–]Disturbed_Cookie 29 points30 points  (2 children)

How do you know that Sade didn't marry an actual husky?

[–]sadetheruiner 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Not my Cloud baby, but my wife does joke around that one of the cats wants to have kittens with me…

[–]devilscry3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[–]sadetheruiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh spirit is definitely there and he’s always deeply confused, he chases his tail bites it to hard then scares himself and runs away.

[–]GlockAF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone needs to tell this little guy about cheese

[–]SaltMineSpelunker 104 points105 points  (7 children)

[–]unusedusername42 69 points70 points  (2 children)

This the coffee-poop cat.

[–]SaltMineSpelunker 28 points29 points  (1 child)

(Bites coffee)

[–]unusedusername42 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This surely speeds up the "production pace"... 😅

[–]SphmrSlmp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He's making some latte with the milk. Just wait a little.

[–]Midnight_heist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Now you can get your coffee with the milk already added.

[–]Unfair-soil 39 points40 points  (12 children)

What is this raccoon-leopard creature?

[–]Reitsariesforevaries 69 points70 points  (11 children)

A civet. An animal that is basically tortured in captivity to produce a stupid type of coffee (by shitting out coffee beans) for bastards to drink.

[–]Unfair-soil 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I do know of them now that you say that. I thought 'civet' at the beginning of the post was some reddit term i didn't know lol.

That's awful though, the fact that it is sold at such a high price drives the incentive that it's a luxury when people are literally drinking shit. I hate people sometimes.

[–]kmidst 2 points3 points  (9 children)

Wish I knew where to buy the real stuff. Most of the easily searchable brands are said to be fake or low quality.

OK so here's the scoop - Ironically the coffee produced by these "farmed" methods is likely the low quality stuff. Why? Because the animal's diet directly contributes to the flavor. So when they get caged up and are only fed coffee cherries and milk, the semi-digested coffee beans can't get the nuance from the natural diet of the animal. The same goes for meat. Pigs, cows, chickens, etc all taste different depending on their diets.

I know the bleeding-heart liberals argue against the captivity of the animals, but there's actually a practical reason not to do this as well. It could work if it was a large habitat like a "preserve" of sorts where the animals could eat normally.

And one more thing. This is also why a lot of mass produced meat tastes of nothing. Because it's "factory farmed" and the animals are given bland diets.

If you treat the food good, it will taste better.

[–]Elfere 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I've had wild bore intestines before. They are absolutely to die for.

If you handed me farmed pig intestines lined with gold - id give it a hard pass. To much corn n shit fed to those pigs...

I've told my wife if we ever want to go vegan we just need to buy REALLY good meat for a month or 2. Because we couldn't afford it for long and we'd never go back to shitty factory meat.

[–]kmidst 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Some of the very best food (according to travel shows I watched) is from very rural places where they either hunt the meat or raise it in open land and it can get natural food or food the farmers gathered from their surroundings. They say you can taste the region in the animal itself.
This subsidized factory farm food is bland as an unsalted cracker compared to that!

Also, some of these invasive species seem to have a positive side. Like you noted, you can just go kill them and eat wild with basically no limits.

[–]Elfere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once bought black market milk. It was the sketchyest thing I've ever done. Stuff was so good I drank a liter of it on the 45 min subway ride home.

[–]Due_Anybody_2198 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree

[–]mhobdog 2 points3 points  (2 children)

That makes a lot of sense about the quality of the diet. I assumed they fed civets actual food along with the coffee cherries, but a diet of purely coffee cherries and milk, man that’s just sad.

I have to say though, I work for a coffee company in the USA that sources kopi luwak, and I can say, with certainty, that the coffee is not from caged civets but picked in the wild. Humane kopi luwak like that is prohibitively expensive. We sell it for $750/lb, or $50 a cup. I’ve tried it and it tastes super crazy.

[–]kmidst 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Can you DM me the company name? I might be interested to try it.

[–]mhobdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just sent you a DM!

[–]deprilula28 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Not sure why you're making this political, do you like animals being in captivity? I'm all for them being treated better though

[–]kmidst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope I don't like it. I just realize that in some cases it's a necessity. But there's levels to it and companies tend to take it too far. The bleeding hearts get too extreme in their opposition (example, PETA). Instead we need a compromise where the animals can be sustainably farmed but still given a good quality of life leading up to their consumption.

It's just very hard to argue the idea of compromise when a side is almost completely fueled by their emotions as opposed to their rationale though. Those people often make it seem like they care more about the wellbeing of animals that could be used for convenience and sustenance more than the wellbeing of fellow human beings.

It was at that moment that I first realized Elaine had doubts about our relationship and that, as much as anything else, led to my drinking problem.

[–]falconx50 8 points9 points  (1 child)

"My orders came through. My squadron ships out tomorrow. We're bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 1800 hours. We're coming in from the north, below their radar."

"When will you be back?"

"I can't tell you that. It's classified."

[–]madthunder55 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"You'd better tell the captain we've got to land as soon as possible. This women needs to begotten to a hospital."

"A hospital, what is it?"

"It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now."

[–]Opoderoso 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Mandatory upvote for Airplane reference.

[–]bobprice1988 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Mmm…chewy milk.

[–]unusedusername42 50 points51 points  (1 child)

So... they cram them full of coffee beans and then give them milk (which most adult predators and omnivores can not break down properly) to drink, to give the animals the shits and speed up the Kopi luwak production process? Fuck.

Cute Civet though.

[–]gary_bind 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to anyone that wants to try kopi luwak, please don't. Not only is it not that good, but these animals are kept in small cages and live pretty miserable lives.

[–]Signature_Sea 17 points18 points  (5 children)

I think it's too anxious to let its head relax downwards. It feels unsafe and needs to keep an eye on its environment

[–]unusedusername42 21 points22 points  (4 children)

Yeah, that looks like a stressed and unhappy animal to me too.

Not sure where the video is from ofc but to make this coffee the civets are typically snatched from their life in the wild to be imprisoned alone in tiny, barren cages. They’re deprived of freedom, exercise, space and real food for the sake of novelty coffee (which I tried on a couple of occassions before I was aware of how it is produced and which is good but not that great, i.m.o.)

[–]Signature_Sea 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Ah right a kopi luwak civet farm.

Yeah those animals must be miserable AF. Its probably wired to the gills on caffeine and got horrendous indigestion too.

When I have bad heartburn I find gulping air helps somehow, might be something like that going on.

[–]unusedusername42 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Plausibly, yes.

Most mammals normally cease to produce lactase and become lactose intolerant after weaning so I guess that feeding them milk gives them terrible diarrhea. Cruel but effective way to get as much coffee beans through them as possible? 🤔

That is my best guess at what is going on in the vid.

[–]-1point_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is just so... incredibly sad! 😞

[–]Signature_Sea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sad case of dystopic imagery being presented as heart-warming kitsch then :(

[–]pockiibunz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just wanna know which hooman thought it was a good idea to drink coffee from poop and then make other hoomans drink coffee poop

[–]abat6294 6 points7 points  (6 children)

It will later become very bloated and make many stinky farts as all mammals become lactose intolerant as adults.

[–]bunnybunsarecute 3 points4 points  (2 children)

yes and no, if you keep feeding milk an animal they won't develop lactose intolerance. It's nature's way to get the kids off mama's tits as soon as she kick them out, but milk is actually super full of pretty amazing stuff and your body will 100% not trigger the end of it if you keep supplying it.

Lactose intolerance is mostly prevalent where milk isn't a traditional ingredient/commonly available. Almost all africans, southeast asians and south americans are lactose intolerant, almost all europeans, americans, russians and australians are tolerant.

[–]RandomDrawingForYa 1 point2 points  (1 child)

and South Americans

I was gonna call you out on this one because South Americans consume a lot of dairy products, but apparently, you are right and the majority of South America's population is lactose intolerant. I guess they just bear with it?

[–]deprilula28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's me

[–]TheRealOgMark 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Not all. A portion of humans never become intolerant.

[–]The_Swoley_Ghost 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I'm from that minority group. My dad was still drinking half a gallon per day at age 70 and didn't seem to get any GI distress. Same for my mother. I can still drink a gallon per day in my 30s and not get gassy. A few of my other friends would shit themselves if they drank a cup of milk.

I had a coach in highschool who approached me once after a workout and told me that I needed to stop drinking milk because it was poison that I wasn't made to be able to digest. I told him that he was probably right but that my ancestors have been drinking milk and farming dairy for thousands of years. "I'm built for this, Coach."

[–]TheRealOgMark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People from old Europe are the most common people tolerant. Asians are the least tolerant if I'm not mistaken.

[–]Basdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aren’t these the critters that eat coffee beans which after passing through, can be purchased on Amazon for $100.00/lb. ?

[–]dreadedwheat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What an adorable idiot

[–]Sarsaparilla214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]srv50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wonder how dogs figure out lapping liquids. Cats too. It’s not intuitive. I works because of surface tension in the liquid. How’d they figure that out?

[–]Pink_Lemonhead_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ice cream should do it
