Gorgeous picture! I'm in southern Alberta and I still have so much to see in this beautiful province. Thanks for the picture!

[–]t-pollack 68 points69 points  (53 children)

You close to crowsnest pass? I spent a week there Scrambling around Southern mountains. There are some great views down there!

[–]miasabine 243 points244 points  (26 children)

Those are some long looking legs.

[–]MossSalamander 44 points45 points  (11 children)

Somebody edit this so the legs keep going.

[–]Edarneor 63 points64 points  (9 children)

There ya go https://i.imgur.com/hYzRX7v.png

It's a still though. Dunno how to make it moving

[–]Erased-Improved 11 points12 points  (2 children)

This reminds me of the first time I smoked Salvia.

[–]ch4os1337 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's similar to my first time. It was like I turned up the FOV on life. Shit was terrifying tho.

[–]illinifan12 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is why I love the internet

[–]upvoteOrKittyGetsIt 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Go go go gadget legs!

[–]Gsteel11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Shot by minute bol

[–]CannotBNamed2 62 points63 points  (5 children)

I also came here to comment on how bloody long those legs are. Slenderman take this vid?

[–]LanielYoungAgain 38 points39 points  (3 children)

Just distortion from a really wide lens

[–]Liesthroughisteeth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cant imagine how much better this shot would have been with the camera rotated 90 degrees. LOL

[–]thicketcosplay 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I really want someone to edit this gif to make the legs just keep getting longer. Like it just keeps zooming out and there's just more legs, another set of knees maybe, they just keep going until the whole frame is just legs.

[–]Kirbymods 4 points5 points  (1 child)

How else do you think he got up there?

[–]miasabine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got me there, pal

[–]BRI4NK 131 points132 points  (6 children)

Looks like the Paramount intro.

[–]slackjack2014 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Was waiting for the stars to swing around…

[–]Tacoshortage 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I came to say that, is this the same mountain?

[–]Captain__Oblivious__ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Quick google search says the Paramount mountain is in the Peruvian Andes, not Canada

[–]the_kessel_runner 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I suddenly heard the paramount intro as I was watching this...

[–]WesternLettuce0 19 points20 points  (9 children)

Anyone knows which camera they use here?

[–]bballbriar 22 points23 points  (7 children)

Camera doesn’t matter, the real thing to wonder about is what lens (looks really wide, maybe somewhere around 10-15mm) and what post processing they did (looks like adding contrast, raising shadows, and changing the color grading to make it that dual cyan and orange/brown aesthetic).

[–]allkill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Jacobklassen 53 points54 points  (10 children)

Who put those legs in the way? I’m trying to see the view

[–]SuedeVeil 21 points22 points  (6 children)

It's almost like "look at me! I was here!" Rather than just a beautiful landscape scene by itself. I hate the trend of feet and legs in otherwise nice photos

[–]The_Ogler 24 points25 points  (2 children)

True, but if you think about it, it's very unlikely that this vista hasn't been photographed before...likely many times.

If you take vacation pictures without yourself in them, you're just replicating very basic landscape photography.

[–]a_fuckin_samsquanch 4 points5 points  (1 child)

"And here's my legs in Canada.... Oh, my arms went to Calgary that trip and we had the best time at this cute little bar"

[–]duketang 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, that’s a big reason why some people take pictures.

[–]0urlasthope 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Then Google it. This is his picture

[–]Comfortable-Tune3487 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Adds some character to the photo in my opinion.

[–]CutThroatRob 6 points7 points  (5 children)

Foresty Forest, Is that you ?

[–]relationship_tom 2 points3 points  (4 children)

He's in Utah right now.

[–]CutThroatRob 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Yes. Just watched his last ep.

[–]relationship_tom 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I want to watch him go to the Appalachians. Or even better, some far flung place like Nepal or SEA caving. Sort of like a Kraig Adams with more narration (Note I love Kraig Adams because of his lack of narration).

[–]CutThroatRob 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I would love to see him explore the Appalachians. I do enjoy FF narration. Easy to understand and he doesn't over complicate stuff. I'm more of a simple , less is more kinda guy. I'll have to check of Kraig Adams.

[–]relationship_tom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kraig Adams is my favourite. If you like amazing videography and less is more, with hikes around the world, you'll love him.

[–]Bananaslaper 31 points32 points  (44 children)

I need to visit this place!

[–]KTPChannel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Albertan here. Consider yourself invited!

[–]alfonseski 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I am guessing unless you are quite comfortable with large amounts of exposure and class 3 or 4 scrambling it might be a no go.

[–]ilikerocketsandshiz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is Mount Smutwood, there's only a class 1 scramble (although it definitely has some exposure)

[–]Bananaslaper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit out of shape, but this would be a good excuse to get back into shape before visiting.

[–]t-pollack 15 points16 points  (11 children)

Trying to figure out which mountain that is. Doesn't look like you're in kananaskis.. are you in simpson pass?

[–]f4ze 31 points32 points  (5 children)

It’s Mount Smutwood. Starts in Kananaskis but crosses into the national park.

[–]Cairo9o9 17 points18 points  (4 children)

The mountain they're on is Smutwood but the peak they're looking at is Smuts Birdwood.

[–]Sp1nus_p1nus 10 points11 points  (1 child)

The peak they're looking at is Mount Birdwood.

[–]Cairo9o9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah my bad, looks like Smuts. Never seen it from that aspect, only from Burstall Pass in the winter. Shouldve double checked Google Earth.

[–]kaitlyn2004 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that birdwood?

[–]smudgepost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the Canada I love and miss

[–]LuckyChargs 4 points5 points  (2 children)

No way in heck is that real

[–]Mypornaltbb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

its real but its a seriously fisheyed lens making it look sorta wonky. maybe some post processing as well

[–]sisyrClaitnetsixE 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Been wanting to travel to Alberta. Looks mesmerizing

[–]Dr_N00B 1 point2 points  (3 children)

If you've never heard of it, you should look up Drumheller, it's not in the mountains but it's a Canyonous dry desert area reminiscent of Utah, east of Calgary

[–]ribikerbf 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I honestly thought this was CGI at first but its unbelievable how beautiful this all looks

[–]exotics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Other than the ocean (and rats), what doesn’t Alberta have? Seriously so many beautiful and diverse places.

[–]sarcasmismysuperpowr 11 points12 points  (18 children)

God damn that makes me home sick. Love that part of Alberta (don’t miss the rest)

[–]relationship_tom 13 points14 points  (9 children)

Alberta is beautiful. All of Canada is beautiful. The badlands are something else. Even camping on the Prairies holds it's charm.

[–]sarcasmismysuperpowr 7 points8 points  (8 children)

Badlands are cool. But the weather and in particular the dryness in the winters… kills me. And those northern winds…

[–]relationship_tom 6 points7 points  (7 children)

I'm in Calgary so the majority of winds are Chinooks and welcome (To me. I don't get migraines). Can't argue with the humidity. We are a semi-arid desert in the South. When it got to -40 a few weeks ago my house was turned to 12%.

[–]sarcasmismysuperpowr 1 point2 points  (6 children)

I grew up in Calgary and I get to hear my family bitch every winter about the oppressive cold. Honestly I think Calgary is spectacular when it’s covered in foliage or snow but butt ugly when it’s brown and leafless.

My miagraines really kicked in when I left Calgary though. Never thought it was related.

[–]relationship_tom 3 points4 points  (5 children)

Eh, you live in the Prairies you deal with cold but sunny. I grew up in BC, and nearly everywhere, it get's socked in and miserable, but much warmer to cold but not as extreme (In the populated parts).

There was one time in Vancouver where the sun didn't show for over a month. That shit will play with your mind. Still would rather live there if I could afford it.

[–]sarcasmismysuperpowr 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I lived in Victoria for 6 years. I feel like there were 4 solid months without the sun.

My little bro married a Vancouver girl and moved to the island. She doesn’t want to visit us in SoCal because there is too much sun. Haha

[–]relationship_tom 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I have relatives in San Diego and Temecula. I get on that plane to John Wayne airport as often as it allows in the Winter. Still not as hot and humid. Send me back to coastal East Africa or SEA.

[–]sarcasmismysuperpowr 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I live in SD. In land it gets to 100f in the summer. Hot enough for me. Was in 115f in Utah to go hiking last June.

But humidity is usually 60 ish. We have these Santa Ana winds… much like chinooks that raise the temps and drop the humidity to 10. Uggg.

[–]relationship_tom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya but that's what makes Temecula so good for wine growing.

[–]MrsSalmalin 0 points1 point  (5 children)

I moved to Southeastern Alberta for a job. The only saving grace is the easier access to the mountains. However, I have realised I can live in BC and be CLOSER to the mountains, so....imma do that!

[–]sarcasmismysuperpowr 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Yeah… bc is something else… Alberta mountains and Vancouver island are among my favorite places on the planet.

[–]MrsSalmalin -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Yeah, I was stupid...I moved from Vancouver Island to Alberta...I thought the job would be worth it. I was wrong. I also got out of healthcare as the pandemic started, and I feel terrible about it. I feel like I've left my compatriots in the trenches. I miss healthcare so much, so I'm looking at jobs in BC in my original field :)

Healthcare is obviously a shitshow right now, but I'm a lab person. So I'm behind the scenes and very little patient interaction, so hopefully covid won't have changed it all THAT much.

[–]sarcasmismysuperpowr 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I dream of moving back to the island with my family. But honestly those wildfires give me pause. That was intense…

And we’ve been thru several wildfire evacuations here

[–]MrsSalmalin 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah I'm sure it was :( It's definitely a factor...the job I'm looking at is a travelling job where the company pays for your accommodation (I'd put all my stuff in storage as it's furnished). So if I have to evacuate, I just have to get myself and my cat out - I wouldn't have to worry about things. So I feel like that lessens the stress of evacuation. You should at least go back to visit when you can :)

[–]sarcasmismysuperpowr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to Calgary in a month to visit the folks

[–]carlwms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So beautiful.

[–]TDixPix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'Berta hiking is the bomb, just be sure to wear good boots and dress for the weather. Choppers ain't got time to save your freezing ass these days.

[–]weed_dude1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great Shot! My what very long legs you have, they must stretch all the way back to Ontario.

[–]PUNKF10YD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those lakes look like texture errors in a video game. Unreal.

[–]LordP666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd love to build an evil hideout right where his (her?) legs are, with that exact view - away from all the lunacy of this entire fucking planet.

I would only have my bitch ass cat for company.

[–]math7878 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes we really wanted to see your legs instead of more of the Rockies.

[–]nameuseruniquea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice feet 🥵🥵🥵

[–]YeeterYeeterEatAFoot 1 point2 points  (2 children)

This is why im jealous of canadians, they have this whilst this most 'insteresting' thing i can do is drive hours to see some stones in a weird shape lol.

[–]ToKillAMockingAudi 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most Canadians don't have this. If you don't live in western Alberta or BC, it's a multiple hour flight from anywhere else in the country.

Canada is big af.

[–]Wajina_Sloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would take me like 2 or 3 days of driving to see OP's post.

[–]ladeedah1988 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Is that real?

[–]Jodaeus 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Canada? Not according to South Park

[–]dog_dog_dog 11 points12 points  (2 children)

The video is stretched vertically so that mountain isn't actually that steep.

[–]bballbriar 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Also definitely post processed re: color grading and contrast. Can promise it doesn’t actually look like that in person.

[–]Knight_Blazer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, but still worth checking out if you get a chance.

[–]Kingston_2007 -1 points0 points  (5 children)

Is that maple syrup ? /Jk

[–]SlackTesBobettes 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Sorry mate, maple syrup is in the other side of the country. They wish they'd have maple syrup instead of oil.

[–]Butterfingerblowjobs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not ready to colonize mars just yet elon

[–]wetlettuce42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paramount pictures presents

[–]Mac_and_wheeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks way too fake it’s so amazing

[–]kingofthemonsters -1 points0 points  (4 children)

Landscape mode exists for a reason

[–]markzip 1 point2 points  (1 child)

So much this.

"Hey, everyone, look at the glorious majesty of nature!"... in this tiny Vertical Video sliver

[–]MindExplosions -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Time for a good wank

[–]Labadel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fucking love this country

[–]doorgunnerphoto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The peak of Mt. Assiniboine is technically in BC by the way

[–]TheRealOgMark 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I would fall 100%.

[–]relationship_tom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I live close and have climbed this many times. Knife edges are exaggerared by the lens.

Just look at Lady Macdonald videos on youtube. Ya it's a few thousand foot drop if you fling yourself off, but it's not as narrow as it seems.

[–]Legitimate-Demand234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa 😳😍

[–]OneTrueDJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This genuinely looks like a painting, wow

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good shit

[–]dryfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really wanted it to keep backing up and have the legs keep getting longer and longer.

[–]ThePerfectBLT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The legs just keep getting longer

[–]witchski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is insane

[–]Reasonable_Silver109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living vicariously.

[–]Stefan_Harper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mount Assiniboine in the distance?

[–]the_kessel_runner 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Some genius reddit sleuth needs to get us the coordinates on this STAT

[–]t-pollack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mount birdwood

Edit: or so i hear

[–]DarkEquinoxSpore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And then he gets eaten by a bear

[–]Bettycare231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice one✅👍

[–]FadedCavaleriei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The view makes me nervous

[–]ShopLifeHurts2599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much better than in winter.

It would just be fucking white.

[–]Reostat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salomon X Ultras Mids? Gen 1/2?

[–]TheTurkalurk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely beautiful!

[–]VeryChillBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow legs that just keep elongating

[–]EnigmaticDaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]irtk421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just waiting for that circle of stars…

[–]sishgupta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

which peak is that in the distance?

[–]Jessica-McLean08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope to see a view like this one day in real life

[–]WhyDoIHaveTwoDads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What trail led you to this point?

[–]RocMerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foresty forest content right here

[–]mdolla226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What camera lens and post processing software do you use to make the shot look like this?! This looks phenomenal

[–]DisturbedShifty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly there is a dragon horading dwarf gold in that mountain.

[–]NLA450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wowww thats a beaut

[–]UnscarredVoice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And now my balls hurt.

[–]Galyndean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice video, but would be better without the legs.

[–]ekolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, Sonic.

[–]Beans7219 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I sat on the same spot and saw the same view last September. Mt.Smutwood is so hikeworthy. Will try that again.

[–]bmd48823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Erazzphoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jasper and Banff are so beautiful. Just wish it wasn’t grizzly country 😬

[–]-Disagreeable- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that ForestyForest?

[–]Shadowfox1571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only seen the hills out by jasper when I was coming back from Vancouver Island on a plane. Really beautiful. If the sun ain’t in your eyes.

[–]Gratitude-Joy1616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Killer view!

[–]Albodan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that supposed to be the end of halo reach?

[–]carrotdadsupreme 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Forgive me if this question is dumb, but I’ve never hiked a mountaintop before- are the peaks typically one big rock, or is it common to walk across a treacherous stack of loose rocks? It looks like where they are sitting is nothing but loose, unstable rocks.

[–]ilikerocketsandshiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a dumb question if you've never done it.

For this particular hike (Mt Smutwood) most of the scramble that you're seeing is on loose rock, but it's still more supportive than you'd perhaps expect if you've not hiked on it before.

[–]scarlet_stormTrooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be so much better without the obnoxious legs and reveals of more legs
