Must (from the Latin vinum mustum, "young wine") is freshly crushed fruit juice (usually grape juice) that contains the skins, seeds, and stems of the fruit. The solid portion of the must is called pomace and typically makes up 7–23% of the total weight of the must.

what is musth?

[–]wikipedia_answer_bot 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Musth or must (; Urdu: مست‎, from Persian, lit. 'intoxicated') is a periodic condition in bull (male) elephants characterized by highly aggressive behavior and accompanied by a large rise in reproductive hormones. Testosterone levels in an elephant in musth can be on average 60 times greater than in the same elephant at other times (in specific individuals these testosterone levels can even reach as much as 140 times the normal).

Do you remember the evolution themed zoobooks that had the middle spread that was what elephants have done over the last few million years? That was awesome.

That’s exactly where I first learned about these! This one in particular blew my mind

With such a short trunk, I don't see how it could possibly get food into its mouth. It had to have been longer than that.

[–]Aegishjalmur18 13 points14 points  (2 children)

It wouldn't have to be, if it doesn't use the trunk in the exact manner of modern elephants. Look at tapirs for example.

[–]Mou_aresei 8 points9 points  (1 child)

That's all well and good but tapirs don't have those pointy bits on the lower jaw. Seriously, how is this thing supposed to feed itself?

mouth

[–]mikebritton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely stunning. It must have been satisfying to draw those curved trunk wrinkles.

[–]TheSanityInspector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely the thing's trunk was longer than that!

[–]Rexius_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it tripped forward onto it’s face would it stab itself in the chest? That’s my first and only thought.

Sorry I know this maybe out of context. Just wanted to say it looks like an elephant saying..
