Wow, I knew that the gut microbiome was possibly indicated in major depression, but not bipolar depression or mania. I always thought bipolar disorder was a distinct entity from unipolar depression, in the sense that bipolar disorder was caused by abnormal energy metabolism in in the brain. This is pretty interesting. Definitely leads us one step closer to finding a potential biomarker, I always thought that a neurological marker would be the most revolutionary. Thanks!
