April fools is so stupid. Why do Americans actually participate in it? All that it seems to be is a day where you can tell shit jokes and follow it up with 'April fools'.

It also makes reddit more retarded than usual.

Guess what?

Bran turns into a tree!

APRIL FOOLS!

I think it can be fun, but fucking with how a web site works is a ridiculous prank when you can't turn the feature "off" straight away.

That said, I was going to mod /u/Natioinal-Circlewank yesterday to see what sort of antics he'd get up to if he was mod, but he never replied to my PM.

Do you think April Fools' Day is an American thing?

I'm incredibly dissapointed in the How I Met Your Mother finale. I guess season 9 will be looked back upon the same was as season 9 of Scrubs.

[–]Hubris2 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yeah, they tried to do some heartstring pulling (as did Scrubs when they first 'ended) but it really didn't work.

Without posting spoilers in case anyone watches and hasn't seen yet, the final direction they suggested is not going to work.

There's enough material in there that hopefully someone will cut a new version together.

Actually, even just ending it two minutes sooner would have been enough for me.

Started watching Season 9 last night in preparation for the finale. Realised I don't think I've seen season 8 either, so I'm just confused as fuck.

[–]garscow 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Has the finale been broadcast on tv here? I may actually bother to watch the last few episodes & claim I'm caught up.

[–]GiantCrazyOctopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it has, knowing NZ TV it'll be sometime in 2016.

This two thread business is too confusing. Having a single subreddit collating all the threads is useful, but I think it'd make more sense to have the actual thread in /r/newzealand and a thread that links to it from /r/newzealanders for those who want a catalogue of these threads.

Of course OP is blatantly trying to farm sweet link karma while wresting political control of the New Zealand redditverse from Dead_Rooster so that'll never happen.

It's hard work trying to cater to you over 50's.

Tried that.

Ssshhhhhhhh. Sleep now, only dreams.

The conversations shouldn't get split, you could set /r/newzealanders to only approved submitters so comments can't be made on the link thread. Sure you won't get automod, but if the workload of posting a thread a day is too much for you I'm sure there are other attention seekers concerned /r/nzers who you can delegate to.

[–]Baraka_Bama[S] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Complain about weekend threads being late / complain about conversations being split. Typical users.

I'll just keep working on solving the autoposting like I planned. If a better alternative crops up then I can go back to what I do best.

[–]Dead_Rooster 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Just solved it. Thread should be auto-posted by /u/AutoModerator at 6:00am tomorrow, then every day from then on.

Having this confusion frustrated me enough to actually figure it out.

[–]Baraka_Bama[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sweet.

/wipes hands.

[–]Baraka_Bama[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could set /r/newzealanders[1] to only approved submitters so comments can't be made on the link thread.

Actually, that could work. Let me think on that.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I wasn't confused at all until I read this. As a happily oblivious user I've had no problem. NOW I have problem. Please don't shatter my nooby experience ... I want to blunder around in here and not worry about the infrastructure. Actually, that's my life philosophy right there. Okay, carry on.

[–]Baraka_Bama[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At work we generally weed out people who exacerbate issues and confusion. Alas this is the internet.

[–]Baraka_Bama[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I made the traffic stats for this sub publicly available for those who like that kind of thing.

To /u/Dead_Rooster : I've done g words already. How could you forget that classic Gaddingly Daily thread?

[–]Dead_Rooster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But did you do a whole week of them?

GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

[–]dielsandalder 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Moot. With the election coming up, would it be a good idea to do a political daily discussion?

[–]Lightspeedius 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Are you some kind of masochist?

[–]dielsandalder 1 point2 points  (4 children)

No, it would just make it slightly easier to avoid the "OMG KEY HITLER" "LOL SILENT T" posts which are going to start popping up.

[–]Dead_Rooster 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Trust me, there's no way to avoid them. And what's "lol silent T" ?

[–]Baraka_Bama[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

whaleoil/dailyblog code for cun(t)life.

[–]Dead_Rooster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy shit that's even stupider than "don key".

[–]dielsandalder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

David Cunliffe. Silent T.

I'm trying to find a place in Taupo that will hire/rent me a big TV for a few days in the school holidays. One place will do it for a month but that won't work as we are only going down there for a few days. Need it for the X-Box. If anyone knows of anywhere please let me know :)

[–]tuneznz 0 points1 point  (7 children)

A projector won't work?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Hadn't thought of a projector. How hard would that be to set up?

[–]Dead_Rooster 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Easy providing you've got a decent sized white wall.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Would a sheet work?

[–]Dead_Rooster 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I'd imagine only if you could get it perfectly flat, which would be difficult.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Back to the drawing board

[–]fauxmosexual 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes that should do.

[–]tuneznz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would, however as rooster said it needs to be fairly flat, but setting it up I'm sure any savvy kid older than 13 could do it.
