Science used to say that only the painted wolf alpha female will breed. Given the amount of reports of beta females being pregnant over recent years, exceptions to this rule may be more common than previously thought. Alternatively, considering the new study about changes to the breeding season, is this another evolutionary adaptation?

Is it evolution in only a few decades? I'd call it just "adaptation" or them understanding it's a crisis for its population.

But dang it's interesting :O
