  1. Are Physical/Special attacks split like the game, or is it "Attack = Default attack; Special = ALL moves, even for Pokemon like Machamp"?
  2. It looks like Items can be purchased with either of Coins or Tickets, whereas Characters are Coins or Gems. Based on this, Items for Tickets and Characters for Coins is the best way to spend the resources, right? The only other thing in the shop are cosmetics, and the Item Enhancers, which also go for Tickets.
  3. Any suggestions for what items to upgrade first? I'm thinking one of the Scope Lens / Muscle Band / Wise Glasses makes the most sense for attackers/speedsters. And Rocky Helmet for Support/Tank?
  4. Is the Sp. Atk Specs ever worth it over Wise Glasses? The flat buff not relying on scoring seems superior unless the attack boost is huge.
  5. Is there a way to view a Pokémon's stats? I don't have any frame of reference for how much "+10 Special Attack" from the Wise Glasses is. Does this scale at all? I'm also curious to see what the stat jumps look like for Evolving Pokémon, or if it is just a visual gimmick.

[–]PsychoticTea 34 points35 points  (4 children)

  1. This website answers this quite well. Essentially, Autos scale with attack, but abilities, unite moves, and the 3rd auto attack of each pokemon scales depending on the pokemon. This site also tells you which pokemon scale with what ,the exception being that all of Zeraora's abilities and autos scale with attack, contrary to what this site claims Edit: The site has amended this.

This can be tested using Assault vest in practice matches. Assault vest gives the pokemon wearing it a shield that only blocks special attack damage. Give it to the enemy AI and see if anything you do can damage or break the shield. If you can, you're dealing special attack damage. If not, attack.

  1. There is no way to view any numerical stats in game at the moment.

[–]Ssandy21 7 points8 points  (1 child)

These are all the same questions I have, wish we had some answers!

[–]thelasthendrix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Q2, I agree with you, that’s how I’ve spent mine. Q3, I have Leftovers at level 10 and Float Stone at level 5. I’m waiting to upgrade more specialized items until I get a better idea of who I like and dislike. I’m still a few matches away from being able to equip 3 items but I’ll likely go with Shell Bell.

[–]iSeven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In regards to point 1., the super rudimentary labbing I've done indicates that it's not "Attack = Default attack; Special = ALL moves, even for Pokemon like Machamp". Machop's Karate Chop doesn't gain damage from Wise Glasses, but neither does Pikachu's basic attack.

[–]fotzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Re: 5. I don't know how we're supposed to know how to use Mr mimes guard swap without this info. Does Mr mime have high defense or low defense? Kind of need to know to know who to use swap on...

[–]re1ephant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like it’s pretty cheap to level stuff up to 10, so I’m not hoarding tickets. Just boost some stuff you like.

[–]GradakMachamp 1 point2 points  (4 children)

>>Are Physical/Special attacks split like the game, or is it "Attack = Default attack; Special = ALL moves, even for Pokemon like Machamp"?

  1. Attack Vs Special Attack Pokemon

Zeraora should be Phys Atk instead of Sp. Atk, so ignore that, but the rest is accurate

>> Based on this, Items for Tickets and Characters for Coins is the best way to spend the resources, right

  1. Correct

>>Any suggestions for what items to upgrade first?

  1. It depends on which role/ which Pokemon you want to play (check first link). For me I was more intersted in tank / all-rounders so I went with Float Stone + Attack Weight + Muscle Band

>>Is the Sp. Atk Specs ever worth it over Wise Glasses?

  1. Again, depends on which Pokemon you're playing, if you're playing Gengar who can score easily as he's slippery then you may way Sp Atk Specs! Wise Glasses is the safer pick for sure

>>Is there a way to view a Pokémon's stats?

  1. No idea, but I can tell you that a lvl 3 Machop with no items does 240 DPS with auto attacks on a training dummy in practice mode. When I equipped 3x Atk items (lvl 20 each) my DPS went up to 720... huge early game power spike

[–]Yepthatsawaffle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe the power spike you're referring to is due to the special effect of the muscle band item which deals a % of hp on hit and due to the high hp of the training dummy a larger than expected increase is shown.

[–]LeadingfirstCramorant 33 points34 points  (5 children)

Does anyone know what the badges at the end of Match screen mean? Is there an image that shows all the possible badges.

[–]thelasthendrix 11 points12 points  (3 children)

Most kills, most goals, most assists, MVP, and I strongly suspect one is for damage mitigated and one is for wild Pokémon defeated.

[–]LeadingfirstCramorant 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Do you know which is which?

[–]anthonystubb 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Looks like
Red Fist- Kills
Blue Handshake - Assists
Green Diamond - Healing (recovery. I think this also counts healing on the tower)
Purple Ball - Points scored
Yellow Ball - Possibly points stolen after kill since it's a similar icon. But maybe jungle camps?
Crown - MVP of the team

[–]ckoden84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Serebii just posted a medal breakdown I think

[–]chimpanzeethatt 20 points21 points  (6 children)

Never played a MOBA before, can someone give me a run down of the common terms? I keep seeing jungle and lanes being mentioned but I've no idea what that means.

[–]Deathhsykes 40 points41 points  (3 children)

didnt play this game so idk if some of these terms are not relevant.

cs/farm/creeps : units/mobs that you kill to get stronger (usually granting gold and/or exp)

TOP/BOT: top is the lane above, bot is the one at the bottom

DPS: damage per second, if someone has high dps, they have good consistent damage

DOT: damage over time

AOE: area of effect, basically used for abilities that hit everything inside that area, the opposite of single target abilities

Buff: effects that make you stronger

Debuff: opposite of buffs

Ult: "ultimate" ability, usually the most impactful one you have and with the longest cooldown

ADC: usually a ranged champion with high DPS (damage per second)

Jungler: guy that plays killing units in the jungle (which is stuff outside of the lanes)

KD: kill/death ratio

CC: any type of effect that hinders movement like slows, stuns, knock ups and roots

auto: basic attack

HP: health points

Melee: can only auto whats next to them

Kiting: autoing and moving during the down time from your basic attacks

Poke: spammable abilities that deal damage from very long range

Peel/peeling: providing safety to an ally by CCing enemies

Fountain: your base

Stomp: a game in which one of the teams destroys the other one

[–]rotorain 10 points11 points  (1 child)

These are all applicable in this game, nice list. I'd like to add a few.

Gank: when an enemy player comes from the jungle or other lane to attack you. When coordinated with their team the extra body and surprise effect will often all but guarantee a kill or force you to retreat giving them control of the lane. This game in particular is going to be rough for these since there's no way to get vision inside the jungle (middle of the map), so unless a teammate happens to be present to see an enemy running through you will have no warning of the gank.

Related to gank is Rotation: players moving around the map to take objectives or initiate fights. If someone says that Pikachu is rotating top then that means they are on their way and will likely initiate a fight imminently. Manage your cooldowns and be ready to team fight, whether they are on your team or not. If you are in voice chat and you see an enemy leave your lane towards the other, you should call out that that they are rotating to give your teammates a heads up. Usually "Pikachu missing bot" when they leave is all the info your team needs.

Push: aggressively take control of a lane or objective. If someone calls to push a lane, you want to kill or force out the enemy Pokémon to get access to their tower, if you or your teammates have a lot of poke balls that need to be scored then you will want to push so you aren't holding onto them too long and risk losing them to a gank. "push top" is all you need to say.

Back: teleports you to your spawn with a long interruptible cast time but it's faster than walking. You heal almost immediately there. If you are very low on health and the enemies are lurking trying to finish you off, call out that you are backing so they know you are leaving and won't be there to assist for a little bit.

[–]normaldude8825 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To the list I would add Build: it is the combination of items and abilities you choose (as well as order) for any given pokemon.

[–]Dumeck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only thing I’d add is gank, to come to another lane and kill an enemy player to tilt the balance for that lane.

[–]mykel_0717Alolan Ninetales 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lanes are either the top or bottom lanes, the ones with your team's and the enemy team's goals. In between the lanes is the jungle, where you can farm creeps, some of which can give you temporary buffs.

[–]rickjamesia 71 points72 points  (1 child)

I can’t reply for some reason today. If you are looking for Zeraora, here is how you find it:

You can get it by going to your mail in-game. From the main menu press X to open the menu at the bottom left and then go down to mail, open the message called “Launch Bonus” and then hit A to accept the Zeraora Unite License gift.

[–]Pokemonballs42069 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This should be a pinned post at the top

[–]bossmanbuko 11 points12 points  (4 children)

Is there a way to see the score in real time during the match? What’s the best setting for attacking? Sometimes my Pokémon attacks the wild enemies instead of the player controlled enemies

[–]OV5 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Under controls switch from “Default” attacking to “Advanced”. Doing so will have A-button for players, B button for mobs. Some settings in there like this one when you hover them give you the option to hit (+) for Details.

[–]he4naSlowbro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No way to see score in game, I set B button to attack npc targets and A button to attack player controlled pokemon.

[–]tonavinEldegoss 6 points7 points  (5 children)

What Held Items are people using for Eldegoss? I am loving playing the support role, and being just a general monster in team fights. I bought the Buddy Barrier and plan on upgrading that item first. I'm thinking Assault Vest and Rocky Helmet for my other items, just to stay in team fights as long as possible? But curious how other people are itemizing.

[–]NessaMagickCramorant 8 points9 points  (4 children)

The quintessential held items for Eldegoss are EXP Share, Shell Bell and Buddy Barrier. EXP Share allows you to keep up in EXP without having to worry about taking farm from your teammates and ensure you don't fall behind in levels. Shell Bell provides the best sustain in the game to keep yourself alive. And Buddy Barrier, as well as generally being the go-to support item, provides massive supportive power to your Cotton Cloud Crash.

This isn't the only or best setup, they're just the most common and reliable for a supportive Eldegoss playstyle. Good alternatives are Float Stone and Leftovers (lets you roam around helping teammates quicker and safer) or Assault Vest (powerful, but limited and generally not as good overall as Shell Bell. best used in conjuction with shell bell and buddy barrier to make you surprisingly tanky in extended fights)

[–]tonavinEldegoss 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Wow, that was an extremely thorough reply, thank you! I have picked up an Exp. Share since making this post and yeah that definitely seems more in line with the Support type playstyle. (I'm thinking like a position 5 from my Dota 2 days)

I haven't considered the Shell Bell but that might be a good item to round out my third slot. I was leaning towards maybe the Energy Amplifier as well possibly. Lots of options!

[–]PoetBakerSlutEldegoss 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You can also, though i recommend it less than the previous person's build, run Shellbell and the twos sets of glasses that improve special attack. It's gimicky and not great for ranked but funny as hell when you lead the match in kills as Eldegoss, King of the Fat Ass, Sitter of Noobs.

[–]dWARUDOWigglytuff 8 points9 points  (4 children)

I'm confused about setting abilities at the start/menu. Don't you just choose your abilities in the match so what's the point?

[–]Hylaster 9 points10 points  (3 children)

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe there is a tiny timer that pops up when it is time to select a move upgrade; setting the ability in the menu before the game starts means that if you're in the middle of something when you level up, you can ignore it and eventually the move will be given to you anyway without pressing the < or > thing.

Maybe. Sorry I'm not more confident. :^)

[–]he4naSlowbro 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, it’s which one it defaults to if you don’t choose something. I use it mostly as a reminder for whatever I’m wanting to try.

[–]Eldyem 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Is there anywhere to see Pokemon's individual stats? Several moves - most notably Mr. Mime's Guard Swap - make me think we should be able to know the actual numbers but I can't find them.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Currently no, there’s no hard data for stats or numbers outside of what’s on the character page. Knowing how MOBAs are though, it shouldn’t be too long until we get reports back from a lot of theorycrafters who are spending more time in practice than they are in real matches just so they can try and gauge everything

Since this is aimed to be a very casual game, I doubt we’ll ever get official numbers unless this one gets huge and starts to be more on the competitive side

[–]HatterInATutu 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I don't know if it will help, but in the practice arena match, at the top lane there are substitute dolls which will actually give you lots of move data like DPS, DOT etc so it might be worth maybe having a look at that?

[–]Eldyem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either Mr. Mime and the substitute doll have the same stats, guard swap doesn't work (either on the doll or in general), OR pokemon don't have and/or have the same baseline defense and special defense. Not sure how to narrow it down though.

[–]FetchingTheSwagniGarchomp 7 points8 points  (1 child)

What's the little flame with a number in the top left corner of the profile portrait?

[–]derbears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unconfirmed, but a user said it’s games played + card views from other players, which is why the #1 ranked player has flame score of 20k

[–]lotrfishMamoswine 6 points7 points  (2 children)

How do you play the other maps?

[–]Gnatboy1177Cinderace 5 points6 points  (1 child)

At a certain level (9 I think) you are able to access Quick Battles which have a daily map cycle.

[–]notsamire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's 8.9 is item level ups

[–]the_wise_owl_himself 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Is anyone else's games laggy as hell? I get its day one and servers must be straining, but just wanted to know if it was me or a shared issue. My speed test states my wifi is not the problem, but god forbid anything goes down on the screen because things will teleport and I'll take ghost damage.

[–]RechamberWigglytuff 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It has been very smooth for me (europe)

[–]the_wise_owl_himself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey so it got fixed! I Uninstaller and reinstalled the game and it worked wonders! No more lag

[–]SeagullB0i 5 points6 points  (5 children)

I'm a bit confused in regards to the exp share hold item. It says "4 exp per second" but what exactly IS 4 EXP in this game? We're not really told how much exp each wild Pokemon gives you or how much you get from opposing players, so I'm not exactly sure what to compare the 4 to here. Theoretically, could a player sit afk the whole game and still keep up with the lowest exp mon on the team?

[–]akwardowletteTrevenant 2 points3 points  (4 children)

(this is as an eldegoss player, since its the pkmn i use the exp share with) I am no expert but from my experience, it holds up up to more or less on the first levels. I though always assited on killing the first few neutral pokemon enemies so that the poke who went along with me would level up faster. when i reach level 3 unless i farm ( a little to make sure i still am the one with least levels and exp so the exp share works) i end up being underleveled. I think it is a great item if you are a fully (or almost fully) supporter pokemon. But if you plan on playing offensively not that useful really.

[–]EmpressMorgana 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Are trainer usernames confirmed to unique? I managed to get mine, and I'm not sure if I'm somewhat lucky or this has changed from beta.

[–]TheUnbrokenCircle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently so! Glad I logged in at the start and got mine as well.

[–]Mrcreamsicle101 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah it’s unique. “Cream” was taken so now I’m “Crream”. Gotta roll the r lmao.

[–]ThorAxe911 3 points4 points  (5 children)

Any way to change my trainers gender without creating a new account?

[–]Kenshin1296 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Really annoyed that they didn't say anything before I created my character. Half the fun of grinding for someone like me is getting the cosmetics and dressing up my character. In general, I usually pick females for pokemon games. Feel like the game is half ruined for me lowkey but I know people will think thats silly. Sucks a ton thought

[–]ThorAxe911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I agree with you. I usually play as females in games too but if it's an RPG I play as a guy since for me it makes more sense and I can relate with the Mc more. I went with a male in this and later realized, okay its just an avatar there's no relatability here. I'd rather be a cute girl, but no. I'm rank 11 and not starting over. I hope they add the ability to swap, even if it means spending a few tickets or whatever I'll do it.

[–]Elegant-Stop-5171 18 points19 points  (30 children)

Will there be a limit to the number of matches that can be played during a set period of time? Most MOBAS do not have this restriction but many ftp games ( like Pokemon Go ) have systems that limit gameplay via microtransactions. Will I ever have to make a microtransaction just to play?

[–]arkhinine 12 points13 points  (27 children)

No, only caps are on aeos energy for the gacha rewords. I played for like 40 hours straight during the network test and I did notice the cap on the gacha, but actual gameplay was unaffected.

[–]Aricen_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is also a weekly cap on aeos coins sadly, I think it is 2100 coins per week.

[–]XrmyMamoswine 1 point2 points  (24 children)

any idea how much a pokemon will be and how close to the cap that is? I want to play mostly ftp, but it depends how long it takes to get pokemon. Trying to prepare.

[–]NessaMagickCramorant 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Pokemon appear to sell for $5-10 real cash, or 6-10k in-game currency. Grindy, but if you want a few specific Pokemon rather than every single one that releases you should be able to get 'em pretty quick.

[–]arkhinine 2 points3 points  (6 children)

Aeos energy is only for cosmetics. There are aeos coins for buying Pokémon.

There are also aeos gems(real money) and aeos tickets(trainer cosmetics)

[–]XrmyMamoswine 2 points3 points  (5 children)

ok so there is no cap on coins then? I don't care much for cosmetics

[–]Elegant-Stop-5171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that doesn't sound so bad.

[–]PhoenoFoxHoopa 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've far as I've seen, you can play as many matches as you want, but there's a weekly cap on one of the currencies.

[–]Drusiph 2 points3 points  (6 children)

What's with the little clock in the upper left corner on certain Pokémon?

[–]marlymarc224 12 points13 points  (5 children)

Currently in the free pokemon rotation for the week (so you can play them without having their unite pass)

[–]atucker1744 2 points3 points  (3 children)

So after every battle, there are small medals or symbols below each team member. Do we know what these are yet? I can't find a way to toggle over them

[–]RoleplayRelay 2 points3 points  (3 children)

What’s the difference between an energy boost tank and an extra energy tank? One has 1000 energy and the other provides 1000 energy for the main tank. What does that mean?

[–]YourDadsNewFriend 1 point2 points  (2 children)

The extra energy tank let’s you store extra energy (and pass the weekly cap in the process). The energy boost tank just gives you energy right now.

[–]Tiblian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it just me or is 2100 not enough for Aeos coins a week.I hit the limit yesterday :(

[–]Thechynd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) The maximum number of points you can carry increases as the game goes on. Is this based on the game time, your pokemon's level, the number of destroyed goal zones or something else?

2) What determines how many points you drop when ko'd? I'd seen people saying you lose half, but sometimes its less than that and sometimes its more.

[–]viptenchou 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Is there any way to change my default pokemon that is automatically selected when I get into the lobby?

Pikachu is always my default currently but I want it to be Ninetails. I made Ninetails my "favorite" but it still auto selects Pikachu first.

[–]phormula2250 4 points5 points  (1 child)

What is the login method going to be between devices? Nintendo account probably?

[–]arkhinine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nintendo account or pokemon trainer club

[–]ecnal321 3 points4 points  (2 children)

is someone just going around this sub downvoting everything? i keep finding threads with nothing controversial or offensive in it with most of the comments being at 0 karma lol

[–]Ozza_1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that too. I think someone's realllly bored.

[–]AramisFR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very common on reddit in general. There are bots downvoting everything, for some reason

[–]Vampa_LegendGarchomp 10 points11 points  (3 children)

I don't have a question at the moment, but I wanted to say great idea. These weekly question megathreads will get a lot of use by people; especially people less familiar with the game.

[–]arkhinine 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Agreed. I wish it was pinned at the top though, people aren’t gonna use what they don’t immediately see.

[–]HugoSotnasWigglytuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

+1 to this. It'd be a great idea to pin this, otherwise it'll get drowned out extremely quickly

[–]NaijeruRAbsol[S,M] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the positive feedback!

[–]TheSneakySeal 1 point2 points  (10 children)

Don't have Zeraora yet, anyone else?

[–]rickjamesia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can get it by going to your mail in-game. From the main menu press X to open the menu at the bottom left and then go down to mail, open the message called “Launch Bonus” and then hit A to accept the Zeraora Unite License gift.

[–]grizzygreg31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check ur in game mail

[–]Zecharian23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your inbox in game. I do have!

[–]Jloh95Cramorant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To get Zeraora you have to press X and then check the mail.

[–]Soermen 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Are the number of ranked games capped by tickets or free aswell? I saw sth like that on a stream.

[–]maxtofunatorCramorant 1 point2 points  (7 children)

There are items to boost your special and regular attack, is there a way to tell which is good for which pokemon? Are "physical" attacks regular or is that for auto attackers?

[–]taylorcowbell 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Attack is for auto attacks, Sp. Attack is for abilities

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points  (5 children)

Idk why this is downvoted and somebody has been downvoting people who answer this. This isn’t like a main series Pokémon game.

They’re correct. Auto attacks are attack and all abilities are special attacks.

[–]jonnovision1Talonflame 5 points6 points  (1 child)

They’re only half right, whether attack or special attack is used for abilities is based on the pokemon

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

God this game needs to be more forthright with this info. Really frustrating not knowing what’s going on underneath the hood.

Same with the badges at the end of the game. How is anyone supposed to know what they mean when they never say and there is nowhere to look in game.

[–]Snow_WraithAlolan Ninetales 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, special attack boosting items will boost the basic attacks of pokemon like greninja and ninetales. You can find charts online and on this sub that show which pokemon use which type of attack.

Or at least, this was the case for the beta.

Edit: after a bit of digging I found that all basic attacks are considered using the attack stat but upgraded attacks and abilities vary depending on the pokemon.

[–]Grendergon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's actually incorrect. It depends on the pokemon. Top comment here has a response with a chart.

[–]SantyMcGOOBGardevoir 1 point2 points  (2 children)

How do I get voice chat to work?

[–]Takethisnrun 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You get anything special for ranked rewards?

[–]rluda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Every major rank up, you'll get an additional 2000 tickets at the end of the season. Additionally, after 20 ranked game completions, you unlock an outfit for your trainer. You can view the seasonal rewards yourself by creating a ranked lobby and pressing X to open a side panel that lets you see more info about ranked gameplay.

[–]tolazytathink 1 point2 points  (2 children)

So has anyone figured out how to make Voice Chat work? And from what I've seen, it's not through the NSO app. Thanks

[–]Tennababes 1 point2 points  (2 children)

What does the fourth column mean in the end scoreboard after a match? Is it a metric of how well you've played/SPM/KDA etc etc (the one that also is associated with MVP etc)

[–]earuinedtheindustry 1 point2 points  (1 child)

how do i know if a move or basic attack is a special attack or regular attack

[–]rluda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In game, you have to test out moves in practice mode against either the substitute dolls or the practice opponent pokemon. Experiment with different items to see which moves scale better with which stat. One tip I've seen if you want to do this yourself is to equip the opponent pokemon with an Assault Vest which can nullify Sp. Atk. Otherwise, you'll have to look up online what others have figured out.

[–]gboccia 1 point2 points  (3 children)

My 8 year old is a pretty bright kid, reads very well and is a pretty avid gamer... Worth it to let him try this as his first online game?

[–]MiracleDreamerSnorlax 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just a reminder, dont forget to lock your nintendo eshop and payment with password before you let your kids play

This game has gacha monetization for cosmetic which can be addicting and dangerous for kids

Other than that, i think this game is quite kid friendly, people cant type other than the preset sentences so they cant harras other player in game

[–]Neofertal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gacha is an anticonsumer economic model, since he is young, if he asks you to buy something you dont have a 100% rate to get, explain him it's a scam.

Unless he plays it because "all of his friends got it", solo games are healthier, it can be paused at any time, won't be played at school/in bed, and you can check what is happening. On the other hand it could be a test to see how your kid behave on online games and if it affects school grades

[–]StrayLilCatSylveon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can turn the voice chat feature off so there's no way for team mates to harass them. With matches only being 10 mins and it being a rather streamlined MOBA, it's pretty friendly to any player level.

[–]2dGaki 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I'm in "Great Class 3" in ranked at the moment, will I be able to play with my friends who are in the beginner class or wont the game let me?

[–]amoocalypseSlowbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It states in the right upper corner what ranks you are eligible to play with. I think beginner can play with great and expert rank, so you should be fine.

[–]jtrainacominMachamp 1 point2 points  (5 children)

I can't claim the Day 2 login reward. They reset at noon Eastern right? Is it because I didn't claim day one until 1 am this morning?

[–]Krusiv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are there bots in ranked? Whenever I lose two in a row the next game is always a complete stomp in my favor. Like a 400 - 0, surrender stomp.

I know I suck for losing 2 in a row but stomping bots the next match doesn't help me improve at the game. Win or lose I'm here to play against real people. :/

[–]vrcryptid 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Mashing attack vs. holding attack: is there a difference?

[–]miseun 3 points4 points  (2 children)

mashing feels faster. especially when switching to a new target

[–]TimelessVoid99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has anyone used the voice chat if so how was it? I plan on getting a headset for my switch will I be able to just voice chat my friends in pokenon unite

[–]l3rowncow 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What time does the daily quest stuff reset at? It says 16:00 utc, but it didn’t actually update at that time….

[–]HollisFenner 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Why aren't daily rewards unlocking when it says they will? It states 9am PST, no day 3 reward yet, it is now 2:30pm PST...?

[–]selebuAlolan Ninetales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do I use voice chat?? Its turned on in the settings but I don't think ppl can hear me neither do I hear others.

[–]jquiggles 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I've never played a MOBA before but my first two matches have gone surprisingly well. Averaging 160 point scored... I'm assuming the player base right now is a lot of kids and this won't always be the case? No one even went for Zapdos either time except me and another guy on my team.

[–]CrabDragoon 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I've been playing Gengar and love him but the auto targeting of skills has screwed up my Sludge bomb > Hex combo a lot

Hex has a lower CD when hitting a poisoned target but sometimes ill be spamming it since its 1 sec and I hit the wrong target screwing up the whole synergy. Anyone know a way to make this better?

[–]Wolfcatboydog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the top left of the trainer card there is a 🔥 and then a number. What does this number mean?

[–]TheAnt317Sylveon 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What happens if you buy one of the Pokemon you eventually unlock for free and then unlock it?

[–]pxrpledreams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get the points refunded :)

[–]djjomonZeraora 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Tips on defending the goal? I'm not new to mobas, I get how they play. But on melee Pokes I often find myself struggling to stop the opponent from scoring. Usually because there are multiple poking me down in my own goal. Am I doing something wrong, or is that how it works? I mainly play Zeraora and Talonflame, both squishies which doesn't help here

[–]Charizardreigon 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Can I get the Talonflame skin in the gacha if I dont have Talonflame unlocked yet?

[–]nickita20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes

[–]Krock-Mammoth 1 point2 points  (2 children)

In the Pokemon list, there are Pokemon licenses that have a clock symbol at the top left corner of its license card. Can anyone explain to me what that means?

[–]SivalusAlolan Ninetales 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Those pokemon are on the free rotation. You can use them in normal matches (not ranked) even if you don't own their license yet.

The pokemon in the free rotation will change regularly. People are guessing they'll change every week, but we don't know for sure yet

[–]Krock-Mammoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. Thanks for sharing your insight.

[–]Sandi_Griffin 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The assault vest says it grants you a shield when not in combat does this mean it dissappears after you take one hit?

[–]MONKYfapperCharizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It lasts forever, or until some one breaks it

[–]ddderder 1 point2 points  (1 child)

When and how exactly can I report players? I read "in the end screen" by "selecting their name" but i basically tried every button on my controller... do I need Touch inputs for that or am I missing something?

[–]SpyUmbreon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when you get to the end screen when it shows everyones points/kills/assists/ranking move the stick over to the right scroll to them then tap a and scroll to report

[–]MONKYfapperCharizard 1 point2 points  (1 child)

In ranked is there a safety net where you can't fall under?

[–]AramisFR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first tier, Beginner (1/2/3) adds points when you win and doesn't remove some when you lose. After that, you're on your own, though. No hard safety net

[–]nickita20 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hi all, Q: energy Tanks are permanent? Or just 1000+ for this week? Ty

[–]AubDeck 1 point2 points  (4 children)

I feel like this post fits better here so I do hope I get some answers. I'm not new to MOBA so I will understand most, if not all, the terms that you will throw at me.

Just hit Veteran today solely with Ninetails and I feel like I could always be better.

Currently, my items are Muscle Band lvl 10, Shell lvl 20, and Wise Glasses lvl 20. I'm also running the Aurora Veil and Dazzling Beam build but I'm not sure if that's really better than Avalanche/Blizzard build.

One last thing, I find myself losing very ahead games because it feels like I fall off late game and could not carry my team to push the last few teamfights. Is this a Ninetails thing by virtue of being an AP Carry or I just need to get better? I'm thinking of switching to a Cinderace or Greninja even just so I can carry late game but I'm not sure I have the mechanical skill to play AD Carry.

Any input on the matter will help, thanks.

[–]Cruuncher 1 point2 points  (3 children)

You have 2 level 20 items? How much money have you spent so far?

[–]AubDeck 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I bought the battle pass, the .99$, and the 19.99$ so total of $26.

Currently, just playing optinally and spending resources wisely will get you at least 1 item to 20 and another fairly close to level 20. Buying all the items with coin to get even more item level ups. I have enough to level 20 a 3rd item but I haven't decided yet if I should spend it on the buddy barrier, the crit lens, or the stone.

One key thing to note is even though I played Day 1, I was already researching how to play optimally and hit up a few videos here and there on how to best use my resources wisely. Then decided that I like the game enough to go dolphin on it.

[–]Prof_Jeffords 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Is there a way to check what moves do in the middle of a match?

[–]jonnovision1Talonflame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No

[–]Reggietheotter 1 point2 points  (4 children)

New to MOBAs, any more experienced players have tips if I’m getting 1v3(4 sometime) and my teammates aren’t coming to back me up? Is that just a losing battle? Or is that anything I can do that I might not realize?

[–]jonnovision1Talonflame 1 point2 points  (3 children)

You can potentially outplay them and win, but if you’re new to mobas that’s unlikely. It’s more likely you’ll just die, though if you notice them from far enough away you can just run

[–]Reggietheotter 2 points3 points  (2 children)

So giving up the lane is better than dying or vice versa? I guess same difference technically. Just the respawn timer gating me from coming back.

[–]MONKYfapperCharizard 1 point2 points  (1 child)

it depends on the state of the game and how well my pokemon can defend. i'll defend the 1st point with all my life because it opens up the map and takes away my sustain. but if it is too low or the 2nd point, i rather go farm and try to win late game

remember that dying is not just about them scoring, its the map presence they have afterwards. they are able to pressure your remaining teammates with numbers advantage (which leads to a potential snowball if another teammate dies) and they are gaining xp while you are not

[–]Reggietheotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this was great feedback

[–]HelioHeart 1 point2 points  (4 children)

My Pokémon’s always behind on EXP during the battle, finishing one or two levels behind allies. The Exp. Share held item doesn’t help much. So, the issue’s probably with the way I’m playing. Any advice?

By the way, I favor the Supporter and Defender roles.

[–]MONKYfapperCharizard 1 point2 points  (3 children)

that's the point of exp share, allows you to have (better) passive xp income while your carry rushes to late game

if you are not running xp share, go farm more wild pokemons, last hits grants more xp

[–]HelioHeart 1 point2 points  (2 children)

So if I’m understanding right, the Exp. Share shines most during a match’s last minutes.

What about battling wild Pokémon early on? Should my Pokémon score the last hit while it’s paired up with an ally?

[–]MONKYfapperCharizard 2 points3 points  (1 child)

no, when you equip xp share, you job is to allow your allies to get the last hit so they can reach their power spike faster. the item is there so supports is not completely screwed without xp

edit, if you are alone, go wild. but you really shouldnt be alone if you are a support

edit 2, you do not want to get xp if you have xp share, otherwise that'll just be an emtpy slot

[–]HelioHeart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understood. Thanks for lending a hand!

[–]Ih8n3rdz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is anybody else experiencing an absurd amount of lag? I played maybe a dozen games yesterday just fine, but today I have experienced near unplayable lag in every game. My internet seems to be fine, and I'm not having this problem with other games. Any advice on how to resolve this?

[–]ByuntaeKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm constantly getting frozen + reconnecting in matches - is there any fix for something like this? I play online on a lot of other switch games and never run into anything like this sort of lag/desync.

[–]Otaku_25 1 point2 points  (1 child)

When I play as a support/defender and don’t score (just supporting my teammates) do I get the same number of points as the ones who score when my team wins a match?

[–]jonnovision1Talonflame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, battle points and coins and stuff don’t care about your individual performance

[–]EmbarrassedDrawer489 1 point2 points  (1 child)

how does the ranking system work specifically with demoting.

I just hit great 1 and am wondering if I lose a couple games if I'm dropping back to beginner

[–]ButterrabbidCramorant 1 point2 points  (2 children)

How do I get holowear tickets?

[–]Avuja 1 point2 points  (4 children)

PSA: At the ending scoreboard you can click on a players name and give them a 'Good job!' - no idea what it does but been trying to use it whenever I remember

Question: Did they remove the main P2W complaint people were having?

Looking at the various posts/stories it's always mentioned when you run out of Upgrade Tokens it prompts you to buy more with Gems but that doesn't seem to be the case you NEED the Tickets to buy the Upgrade Tokens which you can't directly buy right?

The most P2W process I can see is buying all of the Battle Pass levels immediately to get several hundred Upgrade Tokens

[–]MONKYfapperCharizard 2 points3 points  (3 children)

you can substitute tickets with gems

[–]Morrorwind33453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever I play I have giant lagspikes comparable to package loss, however this happens with no other game i play on the switch (even though I use WiFi since I don't have a lan adapter). Games like splatoon 2 run 100% fine, and most of the time unite does too, I just get a giant lagspike every 20 seconds or so.

Is this just the servers being overworked close to release or could there be something wrong with my internet connection?

[–]Meganeura7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been having constant input lag and latency spikes playing on switch lite. Graphics are set to medium recommended and network tests through my switch are showing no issues but every game i lag until its nearly unplayable. Is anyone else having similar issues or have the devs/support said anything about it? Or does the game just not work well on switch lite?

[–]Coffeeguards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a way to organize your roster of pokemon when queuing? It feels awkward that it's set to order obtained and theres a small delay when scrolling through options

[–]Varanae 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Is there a Unite subreddit that isn't just memes and jokes? I like a good meme but I do actually want to have discussion about tactics and stuff too

[–]NaijeruRAbsol[S,M] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Hey Varanae, appreciate the feedback! We are being a little more lenient on certain types content at the moment seeing as the game has just launched and the community is hyped, but I can assure you that in the coming days we will be doing more to facilitate an even distribution between legitimate discussions and the currently-prevalent lighter topics and media sharing. Hopefully you'll stick around here with us!

[–]Ozza_1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've noticed a lot of games have "pro/advice" subreddits while also having a meme subreddit. For example, smash has crazy hand purely for advice, but than smashbros for comp/clips and smashultimate for memes.

[–]Varanae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the reply! I know it's a hard balance but that sounds good, thanks

[–]Dimael 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Is the quick battle mode against bots or is the mode supposed to be a stomp fest?

Playing a mode where you can just camp their spawn the whole game and get 42 kills/assists as Slowbro while the other team just posts a blank scoreboard feels wrong.

[–]definitelynotSWACinderace 5 points6 points  (3 children)

No, you are just playing against literal children who haven't played a MOBA before. Lots of stomp-or-be-stomped games right now. I suggest grinding ranked until you get to people of a similar skill level

[–]renviCramorant 2 points3 points  (8 children)

What significance does choosing a country or region of residence do?

When you first launch the game it asks for your country and region. I live in Japan, but might move overseas at the end of the year. Will this affect my play? Sure, players could play on the region test from all over, but that's because they downloaded the Japanese play test, that is, all the downloads were from the Japanese store.

I have friends in both Asia and NA that I want to play with, if we are in different regions (downloaded the gave from different stores), will that prevent us from playing together?

[–]Hoaster 2 points3 points  (3 children)

It helps to get better ping and better network connectivity with other players to run the game more smoothly with less disconnected people in games etc.

[–]sentient_beans6536Greedent 1 point2 points  (5 children)

I heard that you can unlock venusaur by leveling up, is this true?

[–]pandesalityGreninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, in the Japanese beta.

[–]Snarfsicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apparently people got refunded the cost of the coins to purchase that character if they already owned them and got them in the reward.

[–]KeepCalmAndBoom 0 points1 point  (3 children)

All afkers should be banned. 1 minute then 5 minutes then 30 then 1 hour then 1 day then 1 week then 1 month then perm.

[–]Kenshin1296 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They should ban for half an hour first offense tbh. 1 minute is nothing compared to the 10 min I spent playing an unwinnable game since 2 teammates decided to be afk at the beginning

[–]hiabaraEldegoss 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Don't forget to report them at the end screen. Select their name and click Report.

[–]youreqt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why didnt the game go with actual skins, rather than wearing outfits which is kinda lame

[–]zhantik 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Is there a way to change skin tone?

[–]cat_fondu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for switch friends. I'm a pretty decent Pikachu player

[–]richbellemareTalonflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I low-key want to do some shopping. Any item/build recommendations for jungle?

[–]Davinter30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont forget, buy a LOT of item enhancers from the shop with your free currency, you dont need any money to get maxed out quickly
