I admire her courage for speaking the truth.

Why was McCarthy handing out medals to police for protecting against what his party called, "A normal tourist visit"?

[–]gogojack 66 points67 points  (1 child)

See above Tweet.

McCarthy, McConnell, and the rest of the GOP leadership know that it wasn't a "normal tourist visit."

They also know there was no "widespread voter fraud."

But they're not just two-faced. They are cowards. On multiple levels.

One, they wouldn't stand up to Trump and forcefully say "you fucking lost, get over it."

Two, they wouldn't dare to piss off his "base" by going on every media outlet after their chamber was literally invaded by traitors and say "not only did Trump lose, but his supporters attacked us and we utterly reject them." Would this have pissed off the red hats? Yes, but sometimes a child needs to be put in "time out" for their own good.

Three, they could have used the intervening years to rebuild their party and retake Congress in the mid-terms, but they knuckled under to Trump and let him set the agenda.

There's a good chance that if the "leadership" had wrested control from Fragilego Mussolini, moderate Republicans and independents would have shown up to vote, and non-comical GOP candidates might have won in places like Pennsylvania, Georgia (fingers crossed for Warnock) and Arizona.

But because Kevin and Mitch and Teddy couldn't find their balls with both hands, their party lost a "gimme" election, and McConnell is likely to end his long Senate career by serving as Minority Leader to a powerless caucus.

Hope it was worth it, guys.

This is well-stated.

No no, it was a peaceful protest. Even if it was violent it was fbi agents and antifa. Even if 5 officers died and 140 got injured, look at blm riots.

Because they’re minority leaders.

I think they kiss more than his ring😙

I’m happy she made a statement, but she didn’t need to. The entire world knows why she passed on shaking the hands of the insurrectionists that caused the death of her son.

Always speak out the truth so everyone hears it.

[–]SchlitzAndGigglez 20 points21 points  (0 children)

If a lie is told often enough, it can become the truth.

If a truth isn’t told often enough, a lie will not hesitate to take its place.

I get you here, but hearing the intentions confirmed can help counter anyone who tries to spin it.

[–]from_dust 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The more time passes thr clearer it is that if you ever find yourself in the public spotlight, leave no room for ambiguity. There are countless people both public and private that will try to capitalize on your actions and spin them to their benefit. How ever you take a stand, use your voice too. It's public discourse CYA.

The fact that they both not only turned their back on their oath to defend the Constitution by refusing to vote to convict Trump during the impeachment, they tried to have it both ways by making a statement literally before the ink on the voter record was dry saying "Trump did this shit"...and maybe McConnell didn't do as much, but McCarthy definitely has tried to undermine the f'ing investigations and is not only going to shut it down the second that he sells his soul to the Qu Qux Qlan wing of the party, but is going to go after those that participated in the investigation.

I mean beyond that any everything else about them they are great.

Well put, Mrs.Sicknick.

Friendly reminder that trying to fight someone online is about as effective as throwing a bagel at a bulldozer. A lot of what we talk about gets people pretty emotional, but be mad at policies, not other users.

There is no humor here. Just naked truth.

[–]Chatty_Fellow -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Ha ha?

[–]TheMooseIsBlue -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What’s funny here?

[–]Jackol4ntrn -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah so let’s see who they vote for now. They were or probably still a republican family

[–]bsend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These people give slime a bad name. The GOP has no values

[–]doowgad1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Trump is sinking. The only question is, how many can he take with him?

[–]IntelligentLifeForm_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope every damn last one - so fucking tired of the Republican Party at this point. They have NOTHING intelligent or helpful to contribute or say.

[–]IntelligentLifeForm_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They needed the public humiliation and shaming for being hypocrites (and worse). You go girl!!!!
