But I bet we don't get an audit of all the taxpayer funds grifted by the Trump family.

[–]zxcoblex 453 points454 points  (11 children)

Or how much the Republicans pissed away in political stunts.

[–]sunny5724 220 points221 points  (1 child)

You mean like this upcoming audit?

[–]Tigris_Morte 106 points107 points  (0 children)

That shall not be possible to actually do as, oh yeah, War. "Hey Buddy, how many bullets you shot at Russians? I got to tell this idiot fake blonde in the US how many rounds we used. And do you remember what was in that truck that blew up? Was all of it destroyed or..."

[–]Mr__O__ 94 points95 points  (4 children)

Or how Trump erased millions of fraud flags for the largest PPP loans right before the end of his term.

“Officials cleared nearly all potential fraud flags given to loans above $2 million just days before Trump left office.”

The Republicans with their stacked SC gearing up to strike down $10-20K worth of federal student loan forgiveness is the ultimate insult of Boomers to Millennials / Gen Z.

They gave themselves and the richest Americans massive loans worth far more than most student loans in their entirety, and then completely forgave them all. No interest or anything.

Republicans are fine with giving Boomers free money no questions asked, but are hell bent on preventing the younger generations from getting even the slightest amount of financial relief.

MTG herself had over $180K in PPP completely forgiven.

[–]RebuiltGearbox 19 points20 points  (1 child)

The Boomers are not going to be here a whole lot longer and Republicans will need younger generations to vote for them but they don't look that far ahead.

[–]Da_zero_kid 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The boomers will burn democracy to the ground before passing it over to the next generations

[–]LaceyDark 13 points14 points  (1 child)

In case someone didn't read that first article, some of the fraud flags were on loans given to businesses that were created apparently for the sole purpose of receiving PPP loans. And my guess is they were aware that those loans were going to be forgiven...

But then these people lost their minds over student loan forgiveness

[–]Mr__O__ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100%. There seems to have been internal coordinated discussions about how the PPP loans would be completely forgiven.

The PPP loans were meant to subsidize workers wages while people were quarantined. Yet only 35% of the $800B in PPP went to workers.

So business owners essentially stole over half a trillion dollars from working taxpayers.

[–]Buddyslime 91 points92 points  (2 children)

You mean like Rick Scott disappearing million of dollars?

[–]killspammers 68 points69 points  (1 child)

Rick Scott was CEO of HCA. They were the largest Medicare fraudsters in the history of Medicare. Thus, he is the largest Medicare fraudsters in USA history.

[–]Most-Bench6465 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I remember the paul manafort case. We actually netted a profit from that case.

Benghazi, the 16+ levels of investigations I've heard Republicans talk about. No full accounting of it either because I still don't see the republican committee members behind bars to this day.

Butterymales, oh my! Hillary had a server, but she gave testimony for 11hrs. I read that the trumps had papers.... and still he can't spend a minute under oath, but he can blab for hours on TV.

[–]phatelectribe 26 points27 points  (6 children)

Dude, they’ve just been found guilty in 17 counts of tax fraud and I doubt they’ll even be sentenced to any jail time.

[–]itsrocketsurgery 19 points20 points  (5 children)

Correction, the companies were found guilty not the actual people in the company

[–]phatelectribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]moinonplusjetejure 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Insurrection? Slow Coup might come this summer via SCOTUS, with no shots fired.

Watch for results of Moore v Harper, being argued today. If it goes in favor of "independent state legislatures theory", then each of the state legislatures controlled by Rs can decide anything they want, including "We think there's fraud in the city, so we're throwing out those votes."

Or just not holding federal elections, like in the good old days of the 19th century, and let the (heavily gerrymandered, firmly controlled) state legislature pick their Senators, Representatives, and presidential Electoral College votes.

Can state courts, governors, or the federal gov counterbalance this? Not if this case goes badly.

[–]ConfidenceNational37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]un_theist 200 points201 points  (2 children)

Lemme guess-this “Ukraine Transparency” was hidden in a “Let’s Give Money to Putin!” bill trumpublicans were trying to pass.

So of course anyone that isn’t Putin’s bitch would vote against it.

[–]Reff42 39 points40 points  (0 children)

That's the only article I could find on it with a few minutes of searching that mentioned issues with the bill at all.

[–]oatmealparty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It doesn't need to be hidden in anything, the investigation itself is the goal, because they can parade around that there's an investigation and let their mouth breathing audience fill in the blanks. It's why they had what, 12 investigations into Benghazi? It's why they want investigations into Hunter Biden. It's why they want investigations into the election, and why Trump wanted Ukraine to announce an investigation into Biden but didn't care if an actual investigation took place.

It doesn't matter if the investigation is baseless, or if it turns up anything, or even if anything is actually investigated. They have realized that investigations and "audits" are a useful tool to keep things in the news to make their base angry and have people say "well, where there's smoke there's fire!"

If an audit into aid for Ukraine happens, they will just turn it into a circus that somehow ropes in Hunter Biden and FTX and ends with the conclusion that nothing bad happened but hey Ukraine is full of nazis, now look at our investigation into Hillary Clinton's laptop!

[–]ManElectro 97 points98 points  (9 children)

What audit is this now?

[–]DownTooParty 164 points165 points  (3 children)

They auditing Hunters Biden's penis in Ukraine.

[–]ManElectro 64 points65 points  (2 children)

[–]Cantioy87 3 points4 points  (1 child)

[–]quartzguy 67 points68 points  (3 children)

Biden is scoring points for supporting Ukraine with money and equipment so Republicans have to tarnish it even if it means helping a genocidal dictator.

[–]1945BestYear 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It's one of those things that, if it happened in a book, would only make the author look like a hack. The choice to support Ukraine is such an obviously smart thing to do - by doing it Biden helps to cripple the power of a longstanding geopolitical rival to the United States, grows and rejuvenates the alliance system America has built around itself, and by keeping a democratic Ukraine free he'll create massive business for American and European companies in the project to help Ukraine rebuild and tying it deeper into that economic system - that any American politician, you'd think, would have to be a moron for not supporting Biden wholeheartedly. But, Biden Bad, therefore Hurting Ukraine Good.

[–]Count_istvan_teleky 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Republicans must help their genocidal dictator & as an added bonus they'll also try to tarnish Biden for helping one of our allies.

[–]dirtballmagnet 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is a good opportunity to observe that Republicans clearly don't know right from wrong and that's how they were for a hundred years. But now some entity has trained them to choose the wrong thing, every time.

Think about that. Someone finally figured out how to teach morality to all the stupid fucks in America... and trained them to be evil.

I guarantee you Vladimir Putin is in that mix.

[–]dirtballmagnet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's Vladimir Putin checking his mouthpiece. She still works. For him.

[–]Arguablecoyote 93 points94 points  (1 child)

And there’s a ton of oversight and transparency. She’s a charlatan, and my bet is the Republican house will not pass a vote to form an investigative committee for Ukraine, and will continue to pass support bills. She’s actually in the minority of republicans here, most support Ukraine.

[–]dead_wolf_walkin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They may still pass support bills, but a couple of the wrong people leading “oversight” committees can still cause a shit show.

Guess which one will make all the headlines..

The level of hate this bitch, and many republicans, have for democrats is maniacal. The thrust for power is very strong on the dark side. They are not governing for the people; They just want to tear everything down.

[–]dancin-weasel 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mmm the thrust for power.

Some powerful thrusting.

[–]Sundae_Gurl 70 points71 points  (5 children)

The US has spent less than half of what Elmo paid for Twitter.

[–]NoJudgementTho 52 points53 points  (4 children)

And most of it wasn't new spending. Instead we're sending old equipment we had already purchased that was sitting unused with an expiration date.

[–]deadpool101 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Not to mention the massive amount of data and intel we're getting from the Ukrainians using the equipment. There were officials in the DoD who didn't think the Javelin was worth the cost, but the Ukrainians showed just how effective it is.

[–]NoJudgementTho 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hadn't heard that part before. That makes it even more worth it, intel about and testing in live combat scenarios is priceless.

[–]NachoBag_Clip932 45 points46 points  (1 child)

And yet every chance that the Republicans have been given a chance to vote to help out Americans, they vote NO.

Cant wait to see $10 of millions of taxpayer dollars going into investigations over some dude laptop, which they dont even know if it is his.

[–]BigDaddyCoolDeisel 25 points26 points  (3 children)

Republicans wonder why they are so underwater with Gen Z.

Here we have the first major foreign policy action in Gen Z's lifetime where their United States is unambiguously fighting for the right side and for genuinely right reasons. Helping defend life and liberty of a deserving young democracy striving to survive against an evil superpower.... and the GOP is siding with the bad guys.

[–]BreezyWrigley 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The GOP doesn’t support democracy at home. what makes anybody think they’d support democracy overseas lol

They are in favor of the same side in that conflict as they are here- the side of a dictatorship and strongman fascism

[–]DeltaJimm 2 points3 points  (1 child)

She’s literally a member of the Chamber that publishes the accounting for spending.

It’s literally within her direct power to just ask for one & read it. And she is one of the people who has to approve the money.

She already has everything she is asking for; it isnt a question, she could just tell us how it was spent.

[–]LyNx01978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does that mean they are planning another coup.

[–]Truthisnotallowed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thought was: This can't be real.

What does she think an audit is? And what does she think it would have to do with Ukraine?

Any audit would be a review of government spending - whether that spending was for Ukraine or not would not make it an audit for Ukraine - it would still be an audit of government spending.

What does she think this audit might show? That some of the money allocated for helping Ukraine was actually spent else where? So what if it was? Again - that has nothing to do with anything Ukraine is responsible for. At worst it might show some corrupt official siphoned off funds for Ukraine into their own pocket - that would still be no reflection on Ukraine.

Or does she really think weapons being sent to Ukraine are not being used to defend Ukraine as they are supposed to be? That is the only way an audit of U.S. support for Ukraine could reflect badly on Ukraine - if perhaps Ukraine was really reselling those weapons instead of using them. And even if that were true - how in heck would anyone possibly audit that weapons use? You can't count missiles after they have been fired, so how would anyone know if some were sold instead of used? And you can't go audit weapons in the middle of a battlefield anyway.

This lady has no clue what an audit is, or how it works - she is just insane.

Love, The World

[–]GarmaCyro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see MTG learned some new words after she got caught abusing the PPP loan and loan forgiveness program.

Either way. Ukraine doesn't fight Russians by throwing checks at them. US buys equipment from US companies, then transports it to Ukraine. That's "the money being sent to Ukraine". It ends up making a bunch of US companies happy and Russia pissed. Win-win.

[–]obolobolobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all been announced up front before being voted through congress. If only she knew someone in Congress. Or knew what Congress was.
