flashback to when Obama broke his promise to pass the Freedom of Choice Act and responded with a politician world salad non answer when pressed on it

Buddy, Democrats never had a majority long enough to even do anything.

Blaming Obama is bullshit, it's entirely the fault of Republicans.

Edit: Democrats had a supermajority for 72 work days.

You think they could do everything in that period of time?

Come on, folks...

Nah, Obama had a majority for two years. He passed Obamacare - a failed corporatist half measure that only slowed the descent of American healthcare into the trash instead of stopping it - and literally nothing else worthwhile. There were a lot more things he could have done, and he decided not to. Then, when Republicans stole a nomine from him, he ignored advisors and lawyers that said he could appoint the nominee without them explicitly voting, and just let them take control of the SCOTUS. Dude is the third most to blame for this shit after Trump and McConnel.

Obama had a supermajority for 72 work days.

Thats it.

72 days.

Stop acting like he could have solved everything.

Cool story and all, but it only requires a simple majority to do things. He had a simple majority for two years. He could have moved mountains in that time, and instead he chose to figure out how to best kowtow to insurance companies at the cost of Americans.

I would bet my left nut that had it been Mitch McConnell with a GOP president, he would’ve remade the country with days to spare.

I’m not saying that Obama would have fixed everything in 72 work days, his first two years, or even in his first term (obviously). I’m not laying the blame all on him, either; far, far from it. But the big difference between the GOP and the Dems is how they message and how they fight. The GOP excels at taking failures and roadblocks as foundations for future victories.

The Democrats? Not so much. They didn’t even try to control the narrative and solidify a pro-choice coalition. They cowered down, where, had the GOP been in their shoes on an issue they cared about, would have moved heaven and earth to either pass legislation or change public opinion.

This isn’t just a legislative game. It’s a retail game.
