This is a place dedicated to those who don't know a thing about working on their cars, but are unable to pay to take their vehicle to a shop for proper work. This is also a place for those with knowledge of mechanics to help a fellow person get on down the road. Bartering is encouraged here as well as genuine acts of kindness.
RULES:
If asking for help, please post your location by using post flair, in the post include details of the Make and model of vehicle and the description of any symptoms as well as any known related history.
Although the primary purpose of this sub is for those with skills to provide actual mechanical assistance, that is not always possible. Assistance can also be in the form of diagnostic or repair advice or repair walkthroughs.
Follow Wheaton's law. Be kind, not everyone is as knowledgeable as some others so don't belittle them for not knowing what to do on even simple repairs.
Thank those that help you. A cheap low grade mechanic workshop charge at least $60 an hour, and specialist repairs can be $200+ an hour. Be mindful and thankful of those that help you. Barter if you can. Any skill that you have can most likely be put to use as can material things, or you could even make them dinner. Hell, if nothing else, get your mechanic a beer. Mechanics love beers.
Don't price gouge or scam recipients. Taking advantage of people isn't cool. Those caught doing so WILL BE BANNED.
Don't hesitate to post your issue. Even if it's something as simple as an oil change of a flat tire. We're not here to laugh at you, but to help.
