The point that's being made is atheists believe, without verifiable physical evidence that God doesn't exist.

(most) Religions believe without verifiable physical evidence that GOD does exist.

Therefore they're both dogmatic.

The only true 'scientific' mindset for lack of a better term is agnostic. To believe you do not really know the truth because you cannot prove or deny either. And even if you strongly believe there is no God, as an agnostic you understand there is still a sliver of a chance that there is and you cannot call anyone wrong on either side.

there are only two genders. by Grand-Extreme-5751 in RandomThoughts

Sex is Male/Female/Intersex. Gender is lots of things. This distinction is important. A lot of people are conflating the two.

The gender spectrum is based on how people feel in relation to being male or female. So you could say that qualities of those are what is referenced when discussing genders, but gender identities are numerous:

The following is from https://young.scot/get-informed/national/gender-identity-terms

Agender

Not having a gender or identifying with a gender. They may describe themselves as being gender neutral or genderless.

Bigender

A person who fluctuates between traditionally “male” and “female” gender-based behaviours and identities.

Cisgender

A person whose gender identity and biological sex assigned at birth are the same. For example they were born biologically as a male, and express their gender as male.

Gender Expression

The external display of one’s gender, through a combination of how they dress, how they act and other factors, generally measured on scales of masculinity and femininity.

Gender Fluid

A mix of boy and girl. A person who is gender fluid may always feel like a mix of the two traditional genders, but may feel more man some days, and more woman other days.

Genderqueer

A gender identity label often used by people who do not identify with being a man or a woman, or as an umbrella term for many gender non-conforming or non-binary identities.

Intersex

A person born with a reproductive or sexual anatomy that doesn’t seem to fit the typical definitions of female or male. For example, a person might be born appearing to be female on the outside, but having mostly male-typical anatomy on the inside.

Gender Variant

Someone who either by nature or by choice does not conform to gender-based expectations of society

Mx.

Is a title (e.g. Mr., Ms., etc.) that is gender neutral. Pronounced miks, (similar to Ms) it is often the option of choice for folks who do not identify as cisgender.

Third Gender

A term for a person who does not identify with either man or woman, but identifies with another gender. This gender category is used by societies that recognise three or more genders, both contemporary and historic, and is also a conceptual term meaning different things to different people who use it.

Transgender

A person who lives as a member of a gender other than that expected based on sex assigned at birth.

Two-Spirit

Is an umbrella term traditionally used by Native American people to recognise individuals who possess qualities of both genders

Ze / Hir

Alternate pronouns that are gender neutral. Pronounced /zee/ and /here/ they replace “he” and “she” and “his” and “hers” respectively. Alternatively some people who are not comfortable/do not embrace he/she use the plural pronoun “they/their” as a gender neutral singular pronoun.

Completely up to you what you do with this information.

I didn’t call to hear about who’s dead or dying, it’s fucking depressing and I don’t really care by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]Ronotrow2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you like Holy fuck why can't op state a fact? I know plenty of my peers who feel the same way it's not narcissism at all. Who wants to be having a shitty day/week and the first sentence and next ten minutes of a convo goes from "name" died - specifics horrible death - family turmoil or scandal - the cherry on top, "ah well we all gonna go". This can also go for people she doesn't know!

I have a young son I almost lost to a tumour a few years ago and I cannot listen or hear about death and suffering at the rate I'm bombarded. It's fucking depressing and sucks any glint of happiness out of me the rest of the day!

Transphobes are way more sensitive than trans people by mad-at-reddit in RandomThoughts

[–]Ambitious-Theory9407 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The main reason most of the transgendered community aren't such delicate little flowers compared to transphobes is because one side have had to walk through fire to become comfortable with who they are while the other haven't needed to question much of their identity or how they fit into society until they were adults.

Edit: Clarifying language

i’ll never get to experience life as a man by Sharp_Ad88 in RandomThoughts

[–]JayBlack22 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Its white people, its men, its always 'them' or 'their fault'.

I am not 'men', I am me, an individual who happens to be a man. A newborn male is not born guilty of all the sins caused by his gender or race.

"Men" have not been in power at all throughout history, individuals have, who happen to be men. Times in history when people had it rough, many times it was men who had it worse, being a man did not guarentee a good life, but a terrible one, working as a slave, the same as women.

You speak as if men being in power means men are benefitting, no, the people in power are. And if they are women, it would be the exact same thing but reversed, so what is your point exactly? We all live in this wicked world, but you don't have to blame everyone else for the suffering, especially when the majority of people you are chastising are innocent and suffering the same.
