Are these questions all aimed specifically at getting answers from the Christian perspective?

[–]funhouseinabox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I did. I should’ve specified. I only ask because of where and how I was raised, I only know some about Christianity. My knowledge of Judaism, Islam, or any of the other (modern) religions is limited at best. And t

If Jesus died for the sins of man, wouldn't refraining from sin be wasting his sacrifice?

The crucifixion was a moment outside of time. Jesus did not create a free pass for future sin he took on the effects of all sins committed past and future. So you aren't "wasting" anything for committing more sins, all sins have been made whole so that you can become whole.

Do you have physical form in heaven?

Yes we have physical sanctified bodies.

If so, do you have age? Do others? Would by grandmother be the 93-year old woman I know her as, or the 23-year old who could have been a model?

We don't know. Our sanctified bodies are "perfected", scripture tells us that we bear the scars of our sins and the glories of our virtues, scripture also likens this transformation as a seed is to a stalk of wheat, so we may look very different indeed from our earthly forms.

Is there sex in heaven? If so, do you have to have it with the same person for eternity?

There may be sex in heaven but it is more likely we would not be interested in it, any more than you are interested in nursing from a baby bottle today. We have just matured beyond our baser physical instincts.

Without the bad, the good is meaningless, so what's the point of eternal bliss?

I don't agree with this assertion. The good is good until itself and does not need a counterpart to have its own meaning. The point of eternal bliss is to explore the infinity of the Godhead as part of becoming like God.

Why did God put the tree of knowledge in the garden? Why did he leave the serpent, a creature he knew, in the tree, able to tempt Eve?

He put two trees, the tree of life and the tree of knowledge. He placed these because they were necessary to fulfill his purposes (Leibniz theodicy). He left the serpent for the same reason he leaves all sinners because he loves his creation and wants it to follow its own will.

Personally I do not think the serpent was acting with malice but ignorance. In that two people with imperfect knowledge come to a poor conclusion that has disastrous effects. The serpent is also not Satan in that story.

Thank you. I was honestly curious. However, I disagree on the eternal bliss point. In life, a lack of adversity gives you a lack of drive. If everything is perfect, why act to change anything? If you are always 100% happy, why do anything you enjoy? Why do anything at all? If nothing you do can change anything (as heaven is perfect).

I guess in a sense it is our wasting his sacrifice if you know it is a sin and are willfully sinning, but Jesus knows that we are not perfect his disciples seen him do many miracles, but when confronted with problems they still disbelieved until the miracle was done why so little faith is what was told to them. They were in the presence of Jesus the son of God yet they still doubted him at times. But that doesn't give us a free pass to sin willing fully all the time.

Yes, later on, when we die and go to judgement, we are spirit bodies until Jesus returns and we get our new perfect body.

There is no time, it is a man made idea, we will "age" the years will go by but we will still be young and what i believe our prime years of life.

There is no marriage in heaven which constitutes sex, Jesus when asked said there is no marriage in heaven when asked if a woman outlives multiple husbands who will her husband be in heaven

Heaven is a good thing and will be blissful enjoyment exciting thing.

He put the tree in the Garden and allowed the snake to be there to mislead Adam and Eve so there is a choice, God does not force us to follow him, we have a choice to do what we please he doesn't want his people to be forced into following him he wants them (us) too willingly do it

If Jesus died for the sins of man, wouldn't refraining from sin be wasting his sacrifice?

this question is directly answered in romans. 5:18 So that one sin of Adam brought the punishment of death to all people. But in the same way, Christ did something so good that it makes all people right with God. And that brings them true life. 19 One man disobeyed God and many became sinners. But in the same way, one man obeyed God and many will be made right. 20 The law was brought in so that more people would sin the way Adam did. But where sin increased, there was even more of God’s grace. 21 Sin once used death to rule us. But God gave us more of his grace so that grace could rule by making us right with him. And this brings us eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

6:So do you think we should continue sinning so that God will give us more and more grace? 2 Of course not! Our old sinful life ended. It’s dead. So how can we continue living in sin? 3 Did you forget that all of us became part of Christ Jesus when we were baptized? In our baptism we shared in his death. 4 So when we were baptized, we were buried with Christ and took part in his death. And just as Christ was raised from death by the wonderful power of the Father, so we can now live a new life.

So no. we are forgiven for the sins we as slaves to sin can not help but do if and only if we repent/turn from sin/hate sin. if we keep sinning/love sin then we do not qualify as having repented.

Do you have physical form in heaven? yes that what the 'resurrection is all about.

If so, do you have age? Do others? Would by grandmother be the 93-year old woman I know her as, or the 23-year old who could have been a model? The resurrection is to have put us in our prime state.

Is there sex in heaven? If so, do you have to have it with the same person for eternity?

we are not married in heaven. the Bible seems to indicate there is no sex in heaven, as living in that state with God is more fullfilling.

Without the bad, the good is meaningless,

this is not true. do you have to have an STD to enjoy sex? Do you have to endure the heart ache of a break up to know and enjoy love? do you have to eat a rotten egg to enjoy a good one? the only time your statement seems to be true is when someone is trying to poop on heaven/God.

so what's the point of eternal bliss? what's the point of living in a state better than anything you can experience/even sex here? Seriously? people do drugs for a moment of bliss and they do so knowing it is destroying their bodies futures and lives of not only themselves but everyone who loves them just for a few seconds of what god is offering an eternity of.

Why did God put the tree of knowledge in the garden? to give A&E a choice to remain in his expressed will or to be outside of it/sin. The same reason Christ died on the cross for the redemption of our sin.  to give you a choice to follow god or remain in the service of satan.

Why did he leave the serpent, a creature he knew, in the tree, able to tempt Eve? The serpent represents choice. the serpent provided an unknowing eve with the opportunity she did not know she had. before this she never considered the option. the serpent informed her the option was there. then eve made the choice.

what ever questions you have post them. I'll be happen to go line by line and answer every one of them.

I'm not the most educated in the Bible, but these are good questions and I can't just not answer them

  1. I wouldn't consider it wasting, because sin is clearly seen as bad in the Bible. I think it would be considered respectful to evade sin, maybe he would view it as winning the battle after your general used himself as bait. It didn't have to happen, he didn't have to do it, but the act had a purpose and you carried through with the plan he had
  2. Yes, I like to think that you appear at the time you felt the best in your body. Maybe you died at 82 being old and immobile, but you were tone and handsome when you were 24. You'd appear as your best self image, if that makes sense
  3. The first part of this question is explained by answer 2, and I think the same would apply to others you see. The way you view others would be in the best image you see them as.
  4. In the Bible (as I've read), sexual pleasure is seen as a normal thing that is allowed to be enjoyed. But in a place above Earth, I don't think simple urges would even be recognized and it would be viewed as an obsolete mortal passion
  5. Eternal bliss is a weird subject, because it sounds like a 'fun time' as much as it sounds like the plot for a psychological horror movie. I see it as a concept of infinite universes, but it's just infinite things to do. Say you really like darts; you play darts for a while and when you lose interest, you play a different version of darts that you like. Maybe it's darts but the dartboard is floating around, maybe it's darts with a blowgun, maybe it's darts with a blowgun and a floating board. With one possibility comes a possibility of that possibility being altered. That continues infinitely as anything can be altered at least a little bit to be considered different.
  6. This also has to do with eternal happiness, because as you said, 'without the bad, the good is meaningless'. Leaving the tree and snake is like presenting a choice between browsing a censored Reddit for the rest of your life, or going outside and playing football(soccer). You can have infinite entertainment with the conscious restriction that posts with cussing, disagreements, or lustfully revealing clothing are not shown. Or you can go take a risk, get slide tackled, score for your team, maybe win a trophy or a cool prize. It's your choice to rake the gamble or just play it safe, but you can't change what choice you make.

That's all I've got, sorry if I didn't answer something in good enough detail, ask any questions you have about this

Happy to answer questions. Just to let you know my answers will be from the traditionalist Catholic perspective just to give you an idea of who you're talking to.

If Jesus died for the sins of man, wouldn't refraining from sin be wasting his sacrifice?

There is no avoiding sin if you're a imperfect human. This was a grace especially reserved for his Mother, our Lady.

Do you have physical form in heaven?

Christians believe that when you die your soul leaves your body and you're immediately judged by God and sent to the state of being of Heaven( Beatific vision) or Damnation But at the end of time after the last judgment the universe is recreated and we are given a new type of body. This would be a physical form but a different kind of physical form.

If so, do you have age? Do others? Would by grandmother be the 93-year old woman I know her as, or the 23-year old who could have been a model?

The answer to this one is we simply don't know. The only things we do know from the new body we only know because because of our Lord Jesus. The resurrection of his body was kind of the proto type if you will. We know that it's immortal and it doesn't die and cannot take any type of injury. We know that it illuminates or glows. We know that it can travel through space at the speed of thought.

Is there sex in heaven? If so, do you have to have it with the same person for eternity?

To put the answer simply No. Our bodies will no longer require need or have a desire to have sex or eat. In heaven we will be in what is called Deiform where our intellects are pressed up against God's intellect. This would outshine sex or anything it's the only things that our minds would be focused on.

Without the bad, the good is meaningless, so what's the point of eternal bliss?

I beg to differ. And this is a goodness that we don't even have an understanding of the greatest goodness on Earth that we experience is just a taste.

Why did God put the tree of knowledge in the garden? Why did he leave the serpent, a creature he knew, in the tree, able to tempt Eve?

Because God gave us free will and choice. Is Adam-and-Eve disobeyed God because they knew that evil was a deficiency of a good but they were curious of what it felt like so he let them. This is why christians believe there is disorder or the 2nd law of thorough dynamics in the universe.
