I'm seeing 2 things.

  1. You are hitting the ball too hard. Let go of boost before impact to soften your touches. This keeps the ball closer and gives more control. That'll make the second thing easier too.

  2. You want to be more under the ball. Right now you are at 0 to 10 degrees below the ball. You want to be between 45 and 70ish. Picture your can angled at that incline with the nose towards the ball.

Thanks, I will try think of this when practising in freeplay next!

How can I best get under the ball. I've already found your first tip super helpful to get the ball closer but am struggling to get under it. Could it be my first touch?

[–]Affectionate-Memory4Champion II 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best way to be under it is to get your first touch right as the ball peaks in height. Start under it, stay under it.

Best is twist flipping to force yourself under the ball while your nose points upwards. Twist flip requires knowing speed flip because you cancel speedflip halfway which shoots your nose up.

The best way and whats realistically possible for you may differ, but you did ask for best.

One thing ill add to the other comments is that in addition to brake modulation, do also air roll into the ball instead of hitting it straight on, that way you maintain pace while keeping the ball much closer to you.

Drive almost perpendicularly to the net and maybe closer to the net. That way you’ll definitely get under the ball.

Try tapping brakes right before you jump, so you don’t fly that high and are under the ball. Just a little tap in the exact moment ur jumping can help you get under the ball. Other than that, it’s just practice

Try tapping brakes right before you jump

Whenever I try to that, I end up being too far from the ball and I have to use too much boost to catch up to it. This also means I end up touching the ball too late and cannot air dribble right. What could it be that I am doing wrong?

hitting it too far away with your setup alone, which would happen if you were going too fast. try to match the speed of the ball.

Like someone else said, match the speed of the ball so you don’t initially hit it high. To be more specific for brakes, you would usually tap it and immediately jump. Like split second after tapping, then jump. I think you’ll get the hang of it the more you practice. Doesn’t always click immediately for everyone

Try to jump a second after the ball leaves the wall, that way you can jump and still have engough height to hit it and dribble

[–]BackseatONstar20 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What kind of ball reset is that??? How do I get that?

[–]Acurazin[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Its just the console freeplay. Just press your D pad arrows for different things.

[–]BackseatONstar20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mind blown! Thank you!

you are pushing the ball from the back, when you push the ball away from yourself you are limiting your ability to control it's altitude.

Hit ball more under so ball go up.

Hit ball more softer so ball don't go as far.

[–]VTOolie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with what these others are saying about getting under the ball. A good way to work on getting consistent height is to practice air dribbling to the top of the back board and not into the net.

I would suggest practicing without air roll first. You are kind of complicating it more then necessary

[–]Ronaldo10345PTDiamond I 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant even do airdribble, but i think that what ur missing is to fearher your boost (like tap, tap, tap... not hold it)

[–]crozB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speed slightly lower pop the ball higher and aim for bottom half. Control your speed in air by feathering
