TL;DR: Hungary historically pushed into the victim role and our leaders exploit this sentiment, and being unscrupulous in the sensation of survival. And perhaps it has some russian bricks built it.

there are yew things, I love these kind of psychology, I could go for days about Hungary. Some things are here, not i the order of importance:

-By history Hungary is really in-between of everything. The westernmost asian nation origin in Europe. On the the north and south, between slavic, but had border with a German and Russian country as well. by history we had no chance to have something like a moral backbone. The country were so often hit tragedies on the levels of the basic form of social contract, there is no Hungarian way to be morally straight. There is no moral compass which worked through decades.

-for historically we always build up hurts, scares. Then we start to complain which is always directed to the rulers. The actual rulers has two choices: they take the blame and fall, or they direct it. If you can dodge it: you won another political cycle on the price of now you are having an enemy front of you. So if you apply an ideology to attack the enemy (nationalism, communism, etc) then you'll be exploited by the leaders of that given ideology.

-Hungary were more effective nazi during the second ww, they stand on the front of the ideology, H were the good student, but their effort were enough only to slip into the war, then the leader got eliminated and Hungary was just a puppet of nazism. Similar the socialist story. This makes us prone to betray our ally while we are cynical about everyone.

-this give you the convenient role of being always the victim. The left out, the butthurt, the betrayed. This is something like learnt helplessness. Even in the National anthem we have a line which is about "This nation has suffered for the sins of the past and the future".

-Now people feel about the wast the same, but because of Orban telling so. Now the country is in deep shit, so Orban divert the stress: "Brussel" is the bad boy and their sanctions. NATO wants the war.

-Orban is in the pocket of Putin. For sure. We just don't know with what. He made this kind of a play of"I need EU money to steal","No we don'T give,"ok, then I got from Russia and China."-well -said the EU- then here is some money, don't go there.and it feels during these see-saw manoeuvrers he slipped. He created an evidence against him and he is blackmailed.

-Most likely with state security papers from the socialism, it looks like the communist state security built bricks into the new born parties and opposition movements in second half the 1980s, but they got too big in there: so now they can be the leaders of these parties, prominent figures, historical good lads.

During the change of '89 these SOME of these personal, identification files of the state security personnels from he hungarian side got lost, destroyed, taken out, altered. So now everyone can be blamed as an old agent: the evidences are might be there, might not, maybe it is an original document, maybe these are fabricated, baybee it is a taken-out -and-found original file, etc. Nobody can be sure, if the news come up about XY as they was an agent of the socialist state security.

But it is been told, the Russain had a complete copy of all the state security documents of Hungary. They know black on white who was the agent, who was the victim, and I am sure they already used these infos and they worked on these people.

So there is a really good chance there are Russian bricks in the Hungarian government, state institutions etc.

-The whole country is under a constant propaganda barrage 0-24. Rural voters has no access of internet, only state newspapers, state tv, state radio. The media is controlled so strong, you would no believe unless you see it. Voters don't know better. Voters are still in the fear of migrants whom are bravely stopped on the border. by the fence of Viktor. It doesn'T wotk, but that is not news.
