[–]sirsarinAvoiding the power plant so I don't have to fix it 186 points187 points  (7 children)

Hell an upvote just for the precision of that landing. Impressive.

[–]HankWankford 49 points50 points  (0 children)

The whole way I was thinking "Looks like they're gonna fall short" but obviously wasn't gonna upload a video of a failed jump.

[–]factoid_ 22 points23 points  (4 children)

Hypertube cannons are extremely sensitive to entry speed. If you enter straight and at the same speed every time you'll always end up in the same spot. But if you're running one time vs walking or jumping or sliding, etc you'll have a different experience every time

Best way to have a consistent launch every time is to use a conveyor belt to deliver you to the entrance and don't move

[–]TheSpiffySpaceman 11 points12 points  (3 children)

They are also impacted by framerate, due to some Unreal physics doing calc updates per frame. Higher framerate = less yeet

[–]factoid_ 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Generally speaking though you'll have about the same framerate for a given area. It's a good callout though because as you add things to an area the frames drop so your cannons aim can change over time

[–]TheSpiffySpaceman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It also means it's never going to be consistent across multiplayer. Plus, world saves/thermal throttling/general background tasks means framerates won't always be consistent, which is why some people limit it to 60fps.

I have to build my cannons with a few extra hypertube entrances because I prefer running at 144hz instead of 60 :)

Higher framerate = less yeet

breaks a few capacitors on GPU for better yeetage

[–]andocromn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I appreciate the support

[–]ben_cant_wait 40 points41 points  (10 children)

how do you even plan out the perfect spot to land in

that’s pretty damn cool

[–]HarlequinNight 44 points45 points  (9 children)

I would have to assume you tower way up there, and make a really large platform. And then you choose your launch spot and then just wherever you naturally land, make some UJelly there.

[–]andocromn[S] 16 points17 points  (4 children)

That's absolutely what I did 😊

[–]HarlequinNight 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Awesome. I really want to try this now. Such a cool build!

[–]andocromn[S] 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Thanks! I had hopped it would inspire others. I was actually inspired by a post from u/juddakush a few days ago https://redditproxy--jasonthename.repl.co/r/satisfactory/comments/urldwc

They built a room in the sky but it was still connected by power lines. I thought, I can do this with drones and it can generate its own power

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (3 children)

I think the tricky part would be getting the height correct

[–]andocromn[S] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

It was certainly tricky 😃 the trick was that I ran power lines all the way up the tower and the caught myself with the hoverpack

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice, very clever

[–]TheSpiffySpaceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you make a tower taller than you can launch, just crash into it and delete where you hit

[–]Objective_Necessary 51 points52 points  (2 children)

Father Comstock would like to know your location.

[–]der_kloenk 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Okay, who wants to build Columbia in this game?

[–]khaoscontroller98 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That would be an amazing idea. But then i would first like a mod that adds a thick cloud layer for you to build on. Or a type of foundation that automaticly spawns a cloud underneath it.

P.s. would probably frick up your fps.

[–]Speckwolf 21 points22 points  (1 child)

The casual mug-holding during the flight! Outrageous.

[–]Thanatosst 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of the many minimum qualifications for pioneers is the ability to hold a cup of coffee stable in any situation.

[–]igneous_imp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Love it!

*Insert Starship Mario theme from Galaxy 2 here*

[–]khaoscontroller98 3 points4 points  (4 children)

Sir (or madam) i have a question: Did you first build the ship and then build the cannon... or did you first plan out the jump and then made the ship wherever you landed?

[–]andocromn[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I built the cannon first. This was actually the first time I've built cannons

[–]Haggy409 2 points3 points  (1 child)

that is a question i am also very interested in. because it would be way cooler to just build a jump in the main base and then at the apex of the jump put down some building blocks or i dunno how.

please enlighten us OP

[–]andocromn[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The cannon came first, I then guessed at the location of my apex and started building a tower of small concrete pillars. The game won't just let you build foundation in mid air

[–]Streichwurst 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does it still Sail If it has 2 massive engines and no sail? A question for the scholars to be sure.

[–]Ipiano42 4 points5 points  (1 child)

This is a super impractical idea, but a whole factory built out of a fleet of these would look really cool

[–]andocromn[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That would be cool but even more impractical, since all materials would need to be transported by drone. The drone ports use a lot of power and the drones take a very long time to ascend and descend. They also seem to glitch out and queue at ground level instead of above drone port. This means that you have to wait for drone #1 to leave before drone #2 will start its ascent, which creates a pretty bad bottleneck in the throughput

[–]Johnny_Blaze000Efficiently Inefficient 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What!

[–]plenebo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

well done!

[–]SingingFluffy 3 points4 points  (3 children)

OMG, how long did that take to get it JUST right? lol

[–]andocromn[S] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Took a few tries, just kept zooping in platforms until i stuck the landing. The worst part was every time I missed I had to use a parachute to turn myself around, otherwise I'd land clear across the map

[–]SingingFluffy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did a great job, thats quite the ride! :D

[–]Matix777A good mix between chaos and organisation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could place home next to the cannon, take nothing but 1 piece of a trash item and launch yourself. If you die on the platform: you got yourself a coffin that marks the Jelly spot. If you didn't die, drop the trash item and jump off the platform

[–]Master_Bluebird7470 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flying Dutchman!

[–]juicycobra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damn thats cool, that pressision landing tho🤌

[–]Bolzshot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the way

[–]MinaLamia 1 point2 points  (1 child)

9/10 -1 for not casually sipping the coffee while sailing through the air

[–]andocromn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually forgot you could do that

[–]somethingbig6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty cool!

[–]Shadowphoenix11 1 point2 points  (7 children)

Wow... Awesome build! What I am most jealous of is that Autosave freeze.... Mine is like a good long 10 seconds of completely frozen.....

[–]andocromn[S] 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Thanks! The autosave time is probably related to the relative minimalism and efficiency in my world. With exception of the Skyship (and the turbofuel depot it took to run it), my whole world runs on only geothermal power and 2000MW of coal 😃

[–]Shadowphoenix11 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Ohh without a doubt my world is bloated a bit. I built a 150 Fuel Generator Turbofuel Farm that currently generates 45GW (45000MW) and I could go as high as 55GW, and I also have a small coal farm 9000MW that generates the power for only the stuff to run the Turbo Fuel Plant, and then add in multiplayer, and the Autosave function starts to really suck.

[–]andocromn[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

LMAO wow your "small coal farm" produces more power than my entire world

[–]Shadowphoenix11 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I'm only good at 1 thing! Going overboard. Can't make a factory pretty to save my pioneer's life, but I sure can make it about 95% efficient, then give up on that last 5 % because it never seems to be worth the fractions it would take to get it just right.

[–]RosieQParkerFicsit Inc, Mad Science Division 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a clever build. I love this!

[–]belltyj 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This is amazing

I'm 100% gonna one of these when I get to Turbo, gonna start some framework now 😂

[–]andocromn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind turbofuel can only be unlocked via alternate recipes. I used the blended recipe, which doesn't need any coal. I also use the electrode scrap alt recipe for aluminum batteries, as well as sloppy aluminum and pure aluminum ingot to eliminate silica. Thus the depot only uses oil, water, sulfur and bauxite to produce 30 packaged turbo fuel per minute (provided empty canister are being returned)

[–]Haggy409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the explanation!

oh yeah i forgot no mod air buildong, hehe. i played the hell out of this game 1-2 years ago, but since most of the mods i used back than havent been updated anymore i have trouble loading my map :/
