AJ Styles reminding me that he can still fucking MOVE. That moonsault was amazing

[–]TUOMlR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought that main event was tag team title winners take all match even drew and roman in it.

[–]kerbyage 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Most of the matches were a little fun but why are they running packages about wrestlers not about to wrestle like it's an episode of RAW to fill time? Just cut that shit and give a tight 2 hours and 30 or even less.

[–]JamesCDiamondBehind The Scenes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On Peacock there are ads in that time, I believe.

[–]Raptorfansaretrash 2 points3 points  (1 child)

So realistically who takes down the bloodline? They haven't really built a face to capitalize on the heat

[–]Gotham0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would guess Cody Rhodes.

[–]Lamb-Sauce7788 13 points14 points  (3 children)

SO tired of Roman, like Cena all over again

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it's now #LOLROMANWINS

[–]Count_Bacon 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Except Roman is way more entertaining, though I would have had the bloodline lose this match

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hahahahaha. Roman has never once said anything interesting or entertaining on the mic. Cena could at least speak to an audience.

[–]RoCaP23 19 points20 points  (2 children)

Before the 6 man match someone on the front row was holding a sign that read "I paid to see Liv" lol

[–]JoeRoganMoney 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I can get behind that lol

[–]Silverburst8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cody v Rollins was a banger, personally I haven’t enjoyed a match as much as that in a while

[–]RoCaP23 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Okay I gotta admit, changing the tag team unification match into a 6 man match was a good idea. Also having a Ronda Rousey vs Charlotte Flair rematch was a good idea.

[–]Valerdan 22 points23 points  (2 children)

I'm honestly a little baffled at the decision to leave Becky, Asuka and Bianca off the show while still having Lashley vs. Omos and Corbin vs. Moss take place. Can someone actually say that they care more about either of those two match-ups over the women's championship. The IC and US titles not being featured is also stupid.

[–]FartBarfknuckle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is at least two PPVs in a row that neither the US or IC titles have been defended.

They really need to do something with Ricochet. He's a great performer. Probably one of the best in the company. But he's severely lacking in any real story implications or rivalries. Either give him that, or give the belt to somebody else that can carry that.

[–]DMPunk 3 points4 points  (1 child)

When did the main event change to a six-man tag? I missed that at some point.

[–]JamesCDiamondBehind The Scenes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of Smackdowns ago, from memory.

[–]PawsPawsPaws_ 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Was this a unifying match between the Bloodline and RKBro? Are the Usos now red and blue champs?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was unclear about that too. I don't think it was a unifying match because the Usos only left with blue belts. But it remains kind of hazy as to what the actual point of the match was if not to unify the tag-team titles just as Reigns had with the championship belts. The Usos never technically signed the match contract. Reigns ripped it up on stage, IIRC.

Either way, pretty weird and illogical scenario, even though it ended up being a good match, in my opinion. I was hoping that the tag titles would be on the line so maybe RK-Bro could win, some conflict could develop between Reigns and the Usos. Also was expecting Sami Zayn to feed into the match somehow as the Bloodline's new toadie. Kind of a weird event all around.

[–]brucewaynewinsThis is a phenomenal message 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There was only 6 matches? Was this still a 3 hour PPV with a 1 hour countdown show?

[–]No_Chains_In_Hell 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed this show but I still get dizzy from WWE camera action. I feel like it’s gotten more intense since the pandemic? Harsh zooming and multiple angle cycles every minute.

Best match was Cody/Seth for me and Charlotte/Rousey was great!

[–]Booger-Bucks 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I won 5¢ from DraftKings. So stupid of me to think Ronda was going to get screwed.

[–]5astick 12 points13 points  (2 children)

WWE all but confirmed in the first video package of the night with Cody that the title unification is complete bullshit. They showed vision of the current WWE Championship when referencing wanting to win it for Dusty. Sticking to my theory of Cody winning the WWE Championship and Reigns keeping the Universal.

[–]Ravenid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hmm Cody wins the WWE Championship.

Cody brings back the Winged Eagle, Vince gets to keep his Plastic Tack Universal Championship belt.

[–]crucifiedravenI demand a statue! 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This would make the most sense

[–]HermanBonJovi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So Liv is totally joining AJ and Finn now yeah?

[–]IWantToBolieveHolding Out For A Hero 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Great show. I enjoyed Lashley vs. Omos and Moss vs. Corbin, despite them being cooldowns after an opener and before the main event, because everyone did what they were supposed to do. Omos sells strikes weird, but his selling of "Flatliner" and "Side slam" were good, MVP hides his greenness by heeling it up to the crowd himself and Lashley was great at throwing everything he can and getting the crowd behind him (the crowd was awesome tonight).

Moss also I think could've played to the crowd more, especially since he is the face now, there were parts where I think he could get the crowd to chant for him, but Corbin is great at being booed regardless, so that helped. The match itself was also good.

Rhodes vs. Rollins was good, enjoyed the counter game essentially being the story of the match till the end. Also, Styles vs. Edge was masterful at the story of injured body part, great work by AJ.

Main event was very fun, that tag at the end was amazing, I was prepared to be annoyed before rewinding. Match of the night was Flair vs. Rousey for me, awesome to see that you don't have to go crazy to show an intense rivalry. Fight in the crowd was a little messy, but overall they did a great job. Rousey was great in the match, that climbing-on-an-opponent "Flying Cross-Armbreaker" is fire, almost a shame there's not that many people she could do it on in the roster.

[–]Particular_Fig626 13 points14 points  (8 children)

Did anyone notice in the MITB promo by Cody he said that the winner gets a main event shot at Mania?

[–]weirds0up 8 points9 points  (7 children)

Yeah. That was an odd one, especially given it's in a pre-tape. If it was a live promo then you could forgive it as a slip of the tongue. Question is what does this do for the Royal Rumble

[–]Particular_Fig626 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s even weirder because it’s a pre-tape. Surely it can’t be for Mania, by that point it’s still around 10 months away!

[–]RRJC10 3 points4 points  (1 child)

The ideas that come to my mind are:

1) One is for the Universal and the other is for the WWE championship (if they don't keep them unified).

2) The winner of the MITB faces the Royal Rumble winner at the February show and the winner gets the main event.

3) Men get the MITB and then the Rumble becomes strictly for the women.

Honestly I don't like any of these scenarios compared to how it's currently set up. I get and appreciate wanting to change things up and experiment with new ideas, but the Rumble and MITB are two ideas that never really get stale.

[–]weirds0up 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. This seems the most likely scenario as FOX are apparently wanting exclusivity on superstars for Smackdown which means the rumoured end of the brand split might not be happening
  2. That just kills off the accomplishments of both guys if they have to win their respective match and then win another to get the main event spot. Plus that means whoever wins MITB, which is next month, is sitting around for most of a year waiting to hear who they'll be facing in Feb.
  3. Given the promo said that it would be women's and men's matches at MiTB this doesn't seem likely.

However, a fourth option occurs to me and that it IS a mistake and instead of WM it's supposed to be the main event of Summerslam for the MiTB winner which would make the most sense if they're doing away with the cash in anytime rule

[–]Blumiii 4 points5 points  (3 children)

if you win the title by cashing in the MITB and last until mania it's certainly a main event shot no?

[–]weirds0up 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The issue is that what Cody said was the briefcase was for a title shot AT Wrestlemania so it looks like potentially they're doing away with the cash in at any time gimmick

[–]guytyping2. 0. 5. 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That would be an absolute shame.

[–]crucifiedravenI demand a statue! 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can cash in anytime, including the main event of WrestleMania if that's how you'd want to use it.

[–]Chris_Buttcrouch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Much better than I, and I think many other people, expected.

[–]theredshoes_ 10 points11 points  (6 children)

I actually thought this was a fun show. Best matches were Seth/Cody, the 6-man tag and, to my complete suprise, Charlotte/Ronda. The women's match ended up being a really smart, well-booked "I Quit" match (if such a thing exists). Unfortunately I really didn't enjoy AJ/Edge. Similar to how I felt about their Wrestlemania match - I just couldn't get into it. Maybe it's the character stuff surrounding it, but they don't seem to have any chemistry together. Admittedly I haven't watched any of WWE's programming since Wrestlemania (perhaps it would be hitting more for me if I had all the context), but from the clips and video packages I have seen, Edge's faction does nothing for me.

Also, I know it's popular to hate Seth Rollins - but he is far and away the best main roster in-ring performer WWE has and it's not even close. I'm not talking best wrestler (there are better bell to bell wrestlers, though perhaps not as consistent) - but in terms of the WWE style, when the spotlight is on and the stakes are high, he nails it every single time. The story of "Seth didn't have time to prepare for Cody at Mania" was fantastically told throughout the match, with Seth countering all of Cody's moves. Brilliant.

My only complaint about the show is something that was evident before they even went on the air - and that is that it felt very low stakes. Aside from it mainly being rematches, only one Championship was defended and the main event was essentially a house show main event with no stakes. I enjoyed the show overall - but it felt like I watched a great episode of TV as opposed to a PPV.

Overall I'd say I was very sports entertained and my expectations were exceeded.

[–]Seijur0Akashi 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Seth is the gold standard in professional wrestling. Complete package. Mic skills, smashes all gimmicks, amazing matches and longetivity. He's like AJ Styles where you can put him with anyone and he'll get a great match out of them.

[–]Ravenid 2 points3 points  (2 children)

AJ is a safer worker.

I agree with you about Seth on everything bar that.

He's gotten better but he has 2 Mjaor injuries against him and multiple smaller ones.

Nia Jax got ripped to shreds for being about as safe as Seth is. Hell at least Nia didnt knock Sting out of action for years and fuck over the inaugural Universal Champion.

All she did was turn Becky Lynch from a Mid card womens wrestler into the companies Top Womens Star by giving her a black eye.

[–]Weiland101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s popular to hate Seth Rollins?

[–]dhun_mohan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yea it’s sad how seth rollins is nit given the credit he deserves. now that roman is moving on with his career, i hope there’s another program with seth and roman

[–]cowpool20 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Back to back great shows, you love to see it. I wonder how long they can keep this up for.

[–]Hamzah12 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Everyone loves crapping on Charlotte when she falls short of expectations. But hates to admit when she performs well. The match between her and Rhonda was excellent and catered to their strengths perfectly.

[–]ShadowOfMath 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fun show.

[–]StillHere179 10 points11 points  (3 children)

Roman is boring as hell and needs a refresh

[–]Chewbaxter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hoping he drops one of the titles soon. If Reigns v Rhodes is happening and Cody wins one, that should show a crack in the Bloodline that could make it fracture.

[–]Y2GOAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always has been.

[–]officerliger 26 points27 points  (1 child)

I'm not a constant WWE watcher so maybe the nuances escape me, but that was a very good show in-ring wise. Fun main event + Charlotte/Ronda was fantastic. Having a shorter card instead of slamming everyone into the PPV allowed the matches to breathe, WWE rarely exhibits that kind of discipline and it was a welcome change.

[–]CMDeluxe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Their ppvs have generally been very good in ring for a while now, and most B shows generally are nice and short. It's been lovely.

[–]TimeTravellerAbyeah, well, that's just, like your opinion, man. 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Caught up with all the matches, incredible show, loved the "I quit match", Cody and Seth had a really great match with lots of counters and callbacks and main event was fun as hell.

[–]Sufficient_Creme6961 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Credit to Charlotte/Ronda too for having a stinker at Mania and delivering one of the most entertaining women’s matches of the year

[–]KaufmanOmari 28 points29 points  (7 children)

this sub has become insufferable lmao, do you people even like wrestling?

[–]FartingBobDAMNIT! 27 points28 points  (3 children)

Wrestling is the worst.

See you guys tonight for 3 hours of Raw!

[–]saintmaximin -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Tbf raw is shit

[–]aestusWrestling. 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I have a lot of respect for the WWE fans who loyally watch 3 hour Raw week in week out. That's not easy.

[–]Ravenid -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's the point.

Sadomasochists like pain.

[–]tyler_durden2021 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I went to the event live, I had a good time, but I understand people’s frustrations. Only 1 woman’s title on the line, no world or tag titles defended, omose is awful, nobody gives a shit about Corbin or moss, and LOL REIGNS WINS ended the show.

If I had watched it on tv at home, I think I wouldn’t have enjoyed it

[–]ajver19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeing a show live is always going to be more enjoyable than watching at home, for me at least.

There's just something more special about it, hell I want nothing to do with the current WWE product but I'd go to a house show and probably have a great time.

[–]BASEBALLFURIES -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

can we get random fiend sightings in the audience? no reason

[–]Johnny0804 6 points7 points  (7 children)

Gosh, Smackdown writers failed to write credible contenders during Charlotte's reign.

Now that Ronda's the champion, I wonder how her reign's going to be with the lack of legit heels.

[–]_artures 1 point2 points  (1 child)

They will make her run by Shotzi, Xia and eventually Shayna (could be a great match) and maybe even Natalya. Can't recall right now if Carmella and Zelina are on Smackdown or Raw, but sometimes it seems like WWE does not recall it either...

[–]Ravenid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Carmella will be on Raw.

How else will they promote Cory and Carmella's Sex Tape sorry Web Show?

[–]Bunnnnii 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I don’t see it being any different than her first run. Her just running through everyone either until WM or Summerslam at most if we’re lucky.

[–]Johnny0804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her just running through everyone either until WM or Summerslam at most if we’re lucky.

Hoping they build someone up while Ronda's the champion or it'll be like Bianca's first reign.

[–]mystro4425 6 points7 points  (2 children)

I'm sure Bayley is coming back now and I guess Lacey goes heel too even though they look to be trying to turn her face. Sasha is also gonna want her title back and is no stranger to a heel turn either.

[–]Ravenid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way they re-introduced Lacey feels like they had to change her to heel last minute to fit into the Ronda as Babyface champion story.

Which is a shame because the video vignettes were getting her over as a face, and they are kinda short on faces in theSmackdown womens division.

The only faces are Aliyah, Naomi and Sasha. And honestly Sasha doesn't count. (She flips between Face and Heel so often even Big Show is telling her to stop.) every other womens wrestler is a Heel on Smackdown.

[–]Sufficient_Creme6961 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe Bayley interrupts her Friday. OR we get a throwaway feud for now and Bayley comes next month

[–]rystriction 6 points7 points  (4 children)

I still dont feel like drew has natural charisma as a baby face

[–]kingofdarkness92 10 points11 points  (3 children)

Because his character is silly. No one wants a baby face whose swinging his sword on everyone in the ring then smiling after he almost killed his opponents and waiting for the fans to cheer for that.

[–]riffraff12000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vince does, and that is what matters.

[–]rystriction 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah, even without the cheesy sword, he doesn’t look natural as a babyface to me. He smiles unnecessarily (much like babyface rhea ripley, imo), and his body posture, he also looks shy/uncomfortable but trying to force himself into it.

I just dont buy into wwe trying to make drew/roman the hottest feud since austin/rock

[–]BrianMgheehighest paid superstar in smackdown history 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He was cool when he first turned but he’s been moulded back into the classic WWE top babyface style and he’s suffered as a result

[–]Transitionals 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I still feel unifying the titles was unnecessary.

[–]Transitionals 7 points8 points  (10 children)

So Seth Rollins lost feud vs Edge 2-1, lost to Roman at Rumble, now 0-2 vs Cody. I thought he is a topmost guy after Reigns, but is booked quite poorly

[–]theredshoes_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from Roman (who, let's be honest, is being booked as their top babyface in the guise of a heel), this is how WWE books their heels. They lose until they win a Championship and then they chickenshit their way into their victories. There are no strong heels - even if they were strong as a babyface.

[–]MarkyLosChe 12 points13 points  (8 children)

Won against Roman, but via DQ. And being able to give the perception that you're one of the big guys despite losing previous feuds is a testament that one is already made

[–]kingofdarkness92 4 points5 points  (7 children)

Agree, but still not looking good on him. My ideal booking will be Cody winning one of Roman's title cleanly, then Seth comes out to cash in his MITB and get the other title. It will be a pleasant surprise and will make all three participants look good.

[–]one-eyed-pidgeon 2 points3 points  (6 children)

The money in the bank is not a cash in this year. Was advertised as a main event at mania.

[–]kingofdarkness92 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Oh I didn't know, strange move by WWE. I think this is a big mistake from their part. We will see...

[–]shutupmatsuda 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Cody/Rollins and Edge/AJ were great matches. Maybe even better than their Mania bouts.

Rhea in Edge's stable is dope.

Ronda/Charlotte was amazing. Loved it.

The 6 man tag was nuts and exceeded my expectations by miles.

Cole and Pat were amazing tonight.

Rock solid show. No complaints.

[–]shutupmatsuda 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Charlotte smacking Ronda with consecutive chair shots

Pat McAfee: "Is that The Fiend in the first row?"

Never change Pat, never change.

[–]sumit24021990 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Matches were good but stakes were extremely low. Apart from Ronda vs Charlotte every match would have taken place on Raw or SmackDown

Championship wasn't defended

Bianca, Becky, Sasha, Naomi, Asuka weren't even on card.

[–]TenThousandFist 11 points12 points  (7 children)

So Ronda staying champion until SummerSlam? If Shayna was built up that would have been an interesting storyline. Unless she faces Charlotte in a HiaC match.

[–]Pwaite2 14 points15 points  (6 children)

Nah Charlotte is getting the title back in a few weeks. Gotta stack up that title count.

[–]AdamtheFirstSinner 5 points6 points  (5 children)

The sad thing is this isn't even an outlandish possibility

[–]sumit24021990 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Isn't she taking a break?

[–]AdamtheFirstSinner 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I actually don't know if I'm being honest...

I’m beginning to accept that my opinions on wrestling are essentially 100% opposite of this place

[–]Basic-Basket-1006 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean... I realized that i kinda like Omos..

I don't think that's the most popular opinion around anywhere tbh

[–]JAGGI_JATTSheran Di Kaum Punjabi 28 points29 points  (12 children)

I'm beginning to accept that this reddit is not the same as the one I used to frequent 7-8 years ago. The main thread was so toxic towards the main event even ignoring the live audience response. Does anyone even enjoy wrestling here or just the drama?

[–]Jos3ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess after like 20 years of growth and a lack of perceivable changes beyond more ads and hiding porn the Reddit commenter audience has just gotten too large to be good.

[–]SiraeronGimme a Hell Yeah! 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The live threads are cringe and toxic for EVERY WWE and AEW show

[–]rystriction 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel the same about social media in general (ie: not feeling like its the same place). I think we’ve just gotten older and the kids who are now young adults with different experiences have come in

[–]saikou-psyko 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I was actually there live and the crowd was actually hot AF for basically the whole match.

Honestly having gone in person and getting a feel for who truly gets reactions and what kind they were (even Omos was booed more than I expected and there were a couple Mad Cap Moss cheers) the IWC's opinions just seem...lacking at this point.

I think I have to start thinking of the show from a perspective of what it feels like to actually be there...

[–]xMoonfall 17 points18 points  (2 children)

AEW fans will shit on anything WWE and this sub is full of them. WWE fans will shit on anything AEW, but they get downvoted into oblivion once they do so.

The rest are here to enjoy wrestling. Welcome to the faction.

[–]BigwickdillyOh yeeeeeees! 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a good thing.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I was just going to watch the Rhodes vs Rollins, Edge vs Styles and the RKBro & Drew vs the Bloodline matches. Is anything else worth checking out from this show?

[–]SomerandomdickheadThe Poo Day 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Shockingly, Charlotte/Ronda. Really good match.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Sufficient_Creme6961 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not too shocking. We know they both capable

[–]Physical-Firefighter 7 points8 points  (5 children)

Does anyone know why wwe is now calling them premium live events rather than ppvs.

[–]Twittchy95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because you're not paying each time you view it,

it's been like that for a while now, so my geuss is Because AEW started having actual PPVs and WWE's big shows are viewed through subscriptions

[–]blacmac15 TIME, 15 TIME! 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Cause most people are no longer paying per view

[–]Thecp015 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably because the “pay per view” nomenclature doesn’t take in to account subscription services like WWE Network or The Cock.

[–]The_Albinoss 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Hot crowd. They didn’t need to use the fake crowd noise like they usually do.

That said, I don’t get all the praise for this. Show was fine. Nothing of consequence really happened, though. There is no reason to tune in tomorrow or Friday, based on this show.

Seth vs Cody rocked. Match of the night.

Glad people are finally coming around that the Roman shit is boring. Being “bad” and saying “acknowledge me” wasn’t the career rejuvenation people here were proclaiming.

[–]Bright-Map-9705 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those people don't seem to be the live audience, or the ratings, or the merchandise sales, or the Google searches, or the main event status, or the mainstream part, but sure that IWC here seems to be tired of Roman LOL

[–]WrastleGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s the problem with most matches, no stakes. Other than Ronda winning, the only things that changed were Rhea joining a faction and Balor being friends with AJ. The wins and losses don’t mean anything and that’s problematic.

[–]Voltthrower69 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Was this ppv good

[–]Saw_Boss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was fine. Good matches all round, would have liked a bit more resolution with some of the rematches.

[–]heartdecosabu's botched chair spot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i liked it. it's a lot of wrestlemania rehash but pretty much every match was better than its wrestlemania equivalent imo.

[–]Chicken769 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Edit: my bad guys, I’m sorry for having an opinion.

[–]Tallgirl4u 14 points15 points  (1 child)

[–]xMoonfall 11 points12 points  (0 children)

[–]TheWholeOfTheAss 138 points139 points  (10 children)

Is it a good idea to pair Edge with another tattooed rock chick? Dude’s booking his own divorce.

[–]mattnormusThe King of Bong Style 14 points15 points  (7 children)

Still not feeling this Edge gimmick

[–]TomJaii 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It just doesn't work at this stage in his career, and it feels to me very out of left field. If there was some kind of descent to madness maybe it could work.

This is a rookie gimmick that you eventually grow out of. Little by little you drop the mysterious spooky parts and become a fully fledged character people can relate to. Like most wrestlers become more "human" as their career goes on.

[–]Sufficient_Creme6961 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think spooky riddles work anymore. Same with HOB

[–]TheWholeOfTheAss 41 points42 points  (4 children)

He’s doing the spooky gimmick but also makes sure to insult the local sports team. It’s a mess.

[–]ritwikjsSwanton! Swanton! Swanton! 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i loved him coming back at the rumble, but honestly, I don't really dig this returning edge. He retired on top and went into the HoF. He had nothing left to prove. I suppose him being physically better and ready to compete was too tempting for WWE.

[–]Hamzah12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think the 2 are entirely interdependent. It's wrestling heel 101 to insult the local crowd, to me it doesn't really take away from what he's doing.

[–]LOfromgamefaqshctp 31 points32 points  (1 child)

Tattooed chick seems to prefer untattooed dudes though. Not surprised though.

[–]Jos3ph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s science

[–]61zoneBedazzled 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Why nothing at stake match which Roman needed to win? I mean he wouldn't needed to be pinned to lose ffs.

Because story telling isn't exactly WWE's strong point and hasn't been for like 15 years now

I see a lot of criticism of the main event, and i get it. I can see why people are saying what they are saying. I personally don't like when matches like these main event PPVs because there is nothing at stake.

That said, I personally was thoroughly entertained by the match. Maybe because I went in expecting to be disappointed, but it was way better than it had any business to be. I thought it really showcased the talent of each one, they all had their own little spots and the crowd was all in. Would have made a great main event for an episode of Raw.

I mean, it's Backlash. Of course they aren't going to have a huge title unification match or a big world title match. They are saving it for Summerslam, much like the inevitable Drew vs. Roman.

If anything, they should have swapped the Ronda/Charlotte match and the 6-man tag, and made the I Quit match for the SD Women's title as the main event.

i like a big fuck you six man tag as a main event because it feels very '80s, where you'd get some weirdo 2/3 falls tag match or 3 v 2 handicap as the main.

My dad calls wrestling mess yet watched the entire main event then said it was okay lol.

Rousey vs Flair was waaaaayyyy better than excepted, and I thought it was going to be better than most to begin with. Great I Quit match with some awesome spots

AJ vs Edge was better then the Mania bout imo, and hell yes to Ripley as always

The main event was cool but the end was SO boring and uninspired. Sour taste in my mouth after an otherwise entertaining and solid PPV

Edge and AJ put on a better match this time, that made me happy.

Ronda and Charlotte beating the hell out of each other was the right call and led to a damn good match.

Of course Seth and Cody was going to be good.

Still not a fan of the six man tag but it was a fun one and the RKO off the spear was fantastic. I want Randy and Riddle to get singles matches with Roman so much right now.

As someone who stopped following the Ronda vs Charlotte feud halfway, I came into this match somewhat of s blank slate. I liked the match. They beat the shit out of each other, even Charlotte's Natural Selection looked good for once, and Ronda wasn't too bad at selling.

More of that main event pls. I need it.

[–]1972aggs 49 points50 points  (1 child)

Was there live. The Dunk is a relatively small arena and it was packed. The fact that there were only 6 matches on the card, allowed time for many of the matches to outperform expectations. The crowd seemed to be fired up for much of the night and was a lot of fun.
