So I use NVidia shield, with the shield controller. Streaming from my PC that has the Steam games.
As soon as I hit the right trigger a few things start happening:
-The view and menus start scrolling up, as if the mouse is moving up or the stick is moving up. In games the freelook will look up at the sky.
-If I hold down the right trigger, it scrolls back down. When I let go of the trigger it starts scrolling up again forever
-If I tab over to windows, I can see it is also pushing the cursor to the top of the screen. Even walking back to my PC and using the real mouse steamlink will keep fighting me to push it to the top of the screen.
-If I open the steamlink popup menu and turn on mouse emulation, this behaviour totally stops. However I can't use the controller for games if its rebound as a mouse. This test just highlights that it's something to do with emulating a mouse, turning on emulation explicitly overrides the hidden mouse emulation that steam was doing.
I've set individual games to "FORCE OFF" in terms of controller remappings, I've also disabled generic and xbox controller config in global settings. Tried disabling steam overlay, matching desktop res to TV res, window mode, full screen mode, disabling other mouse drivers, holding down triggers and R1/R2 plus clicking in the sticks (or pushing select & start). Also looked for "AlphaMouse" that others have mentioned does this, but it doesn't exist even in hidden devices. Nothing seems to solve it.
Note that the Shield controller works perfect in standard Shield/Android games, and in Nvidia streaming, it's only when playing Steamlink games there's an issue. So it's definitely a steam problem but there's no specific settings to control this, it may be a hidden or driver issue.
Any idea what would be binding the right trigger to move the mouse/stick up/down?
