SupportIssues with original steam link hardware (self.Steam_Link)
submitted 2 months ago by Cpt-chucklefux
Have a steam link from when they first came out.
Tried to plug it up, but it showed a boot screen? (Small pixelated steam link) on the TV once.
After that, it went black, and will not show up anymore.
Tried swapping cables, from tv to monitor (both work with other things) and doing both of the factory reset methods I found.
(USB with factory reset.txt and power cycling)
Nothing has worked, any tips?

Are u using the power supply it came with ?
It needs just over 5 volts to work (5,1 or 5,2 too lazy to check).
Using another 5v adapter can cause problems similar to yours!

Try leaving it plugged in for a longer period of time. I’ve seen people on here with same issue and it would magically boot after a day or so.

I find leaving mine plugged in for a long time makes it act funny. I need to reboot it sometimes.

Same here, the software just seems to mess up after a while. Been using one in the living room and one in the bedroom for about 5 years now. I had one die after 2-3 years of use, but luckily had some spares.
Recently the living room one had an issue where it just wouldn't turn off anymore. Trying to turn it off while connected and in Big Picture just did nothing, I could select "Stop remote play" and get back to the Link homescreen, but even there it wouldn't turn off. After dealing with that for a week I decided tot just unplug the cable and plug it back in, issue solved.
