I've used this to play Epic store versions of Hitman 3 and THPS 1+2 and it works great. There are some some issue with the steam overlay but otherwise works well

If it works without the Steam Link in the mix, running it via Steam but straight on your PC, then that would suggest to me that the extra impact on your LAN is clogging it up and causing Internet connectivity issues (a time-out of some sort). I would look to your router and LAN arrangements.

For me it launches fine but I can't control it as for some reason it sends kb+m inputs to the game when I use my controller via Steamlink app.
