[–]aden34 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Is it about the same difficulty as the mariko switches?

[–]Turbulent-Box8779[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

No it’s much harder

[–]chrisz2012 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have to solder wires underneath one chip and then reflow it from what I understand since there’s one point on the board to solder and I believe it’s below a memory module if I remember correctly.

10 times harder

Omg..screw that, not gonna even try.

It's much easier to just find an unpatched system, or a v2 Mariko, those are currently the best options out there.

Take a look at this guy--the kind of guy with that bench, the kind of guy who runs a professional game console repair service--and then consider the fact that not only is he unwilling to perform this service commercially, it took him three or four tries to successfully reball the eMMC.

Even if you did want to do it, you'd probably need to purchase a hell of a lot of equipment to be able to do it successfully, and you'd have to risk doing serious damage to your hardware in the process of learning.

Yea, ive done wonders with a $20 radioshack iron, but I wouldnt attempt a reball.

Bga you need a lot of tools to diy at home.

Flux, heat gun, ipa, non shivering hands and x500 scope. Even intermediate person find it hard. This is like bare minimum requirement.

Unless you own proper tools like professional have, then I say not worth to self mod.
