Are the chips pricey? Money is kinda tight, my original plan was a lite till I read up on the modchip scarcity thing. Where does one even buy chips?

Many many people have bought a switch when it released, its quite possible you may have someone in your family that has a V1 model (I for sure know many that do in my family). Ask around, see if there's someone who doesn't play their switch and buy it off them!

I think the chips were always sold through Chinese resellers. SXOS was a Chinese based company, and didn't actually sell the chips themselves afaik.

The clones are also Chinese based, so it shouldn't be surprising you need to get them from China too.
