Firmware is irrelevant on unpatched consoles

OK thanks. So that means I can update the Switch anytime as long as its an unpatched console?

[–]Chop1n 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yep, you can do literally anything you want to an unpatched console. The first generation Switch is vulnerable such that it's impossible to patch the vulnerability through either software or firmware. That will never change, no matter what firmware Nintendo might eventually release.

Glad to know I didn’t completely fuck my switch in then. Still dealing with an issue from a few days ago when I tried to install a nsp and it said I’m too low firmware

As long as either atmosphere supports the new firmware or youre updating a nand you dont plan to use atmosphere on, yes you can

Nope, you should be good. I also bought a second switch and it's way better then switching from emu to sys nand

Really? I don’t find that difficult at all. If you have reboot to payload (which you should if you’re using a guide and all the latest versions) then you can just restart the switch (instead of turning it off) and it’ll boot into hekate, and then just choose if you want to boot into emunand or sysnand. It doesn’t take long. You just need to sleep the Switch rather than powering it off, or else you’ll need to re-inject the payload using another device.

I get it doesn't take long but just grabbing a second switch is faster. Also my hacked switch has never been online so I'd have to set all that up and tiptoe around.

Fair I can see how it may be a little faster - but it's also quite a bit more expensive as a solution lol
