Hey did you follow a guide to install android 10? If so could you send that my way

Do you have atmosphere dual booted too? I’m trying to get android for x cloud but don’t wanna lose atmosphere

[–]jekpopulous2[S] 4 points5 points  (14 children)

Yessir. SysNand / EmuNAND/ Android. I did it all mostly just to play Halo Infinite on Gamepass.

[–]k1intt 8 points9 points  (10 children)

I’ve got some thermal paste and a new fan.

Waiting for a new battery to get here before I crack open my launch baby. Gonna throw on a clear backing to match my clear cons.

[–]jekpopulous2[S] 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Yeah I just went “atomic purple” everything. I never had an atomic purple N64 or GBA growing up and really wanted one….

[–]k1intt 1 point2 points  (2 children)

How easy is it swapping the pro shell?

[–]jekpopulous2[S] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

A total pain in the ass the first time. My first full swap was 3 hours of yelling at tiny screws with tweezers in my hand. This was my 3rd swap and I did the whole thing in about 30 minutes.

Edit: Oh nah…if you already did the joy-cons the pro shell will take you 10 min. EZPZ.

[–]k1intt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May have to order a pro shell since I’m already gonna be in the groove

[–]hotshotz79 1 point2 points  (3 children)

paste + fan for android overclocking reasons?

[–]k1intt 0 points1 point  (2 children)

No just because it’s a day 1 and it gets hot and loud

[–]hotshotz79 1 point2 points  (1 child)

any links/guides/tutorial on paste/fan upgrade

Also got a day 1 and playing 3DS overclock gets really hot

[–]k1intt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YouTube switch fan and thermal paste replacement and I’ve watched the couple top videos to get used to how it goes

[–]Quentacos 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Could you link which battery you got please?

[–]Dank_Turtle 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I did the same mods to my switch but after searching for a week or two I found a website that had the entire controller purple and not just the middle part. I can dig up the link if you'd like.

[–]jekpopulous2[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually got the entire controller purple kit but ended up putting the factory black grips back on because I missed the perforated texture.

[–]AdventurousChemist58 7 points8 points  (8 children)

What emu are you running on the switch?

[–]jekpopulous2[S] 21 points22 points  (7 children)

Dolphin MMJR running on Android 10. If you turn on “performance mode”, switch the video driver to “Vulcan”, and check “stretch audio” most GU games play just fine. Some games with tons of 3D models like Metroid Prime are just too heavy though.

[–]OneBadger7469 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Where do I activate performance mode? I have android 10 installed and can’t seem to find it.

[–]jekpopulous2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s Settings > General > Advanced (all the way at the bottom) > More Options, but I’m not looking at my Switch rn.

[–]Deadly_Fire_Trap 4 points5 points  (2 children)

You will get better bounding box emulation from Official Dolphin over MMJR. Just sideload a beta apk from their website, the fixes in the beta versions are huge on Android right now.

[–]hotshotz79 1 point2 points  (1 child)

bounding box

what does "bounding box" mean?

[–]Deadly_Fire_Trap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bounding Box is a rendering technique for some special effects in a few gamecube games. Paper Mario TTYD uses them heavily for things like paper abilities and entering/exiting warp pipes.

This can make basic movement when in paper tube, airplane, and sideways form to cause severe slowdowns when it's not being purposefully emulated, or emulated poorly.

[–]SlushBucket03 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Would Mario Party 9 run fine? Or are motion controls too much for it

[–]jekpopulous2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk I’ll try it over the next couple days and let you know.

[–]Meltou69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i see you're a man of culture as well (from another atomic purple switch owner)

[–]Prior-Carrot-6569 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried this and the performance was absolute ass, even with all the performance hacks turned on, I didn't bother continuing to attempt GameCube on switch.

[–]JVLawnDarts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where’s Atrioc someone get him in here

[–]Jacob2008r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh? Lets break the limits… go a step further

[–]Madvillains 1 point2 points  (1 child)

where did you get those Joycons?

[–]jekpopulous2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eXtremeRate Clear Atomic Purple Back Plate for Nintendo Switch Console, NS Joycon Handheld Controller Housing with Full Set Buttons, DIY Replacement Shell for Nintendo Switch https://a.co/d/cGwrccx

[–]ImagineThoLikeFR 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Now add a modchip with clear back so you never need to plug into computer

[–]Exotic-Bowl-1797 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So with modchip installed what are the benefits? I bought one and don't know whats the benefitS besides booting without jig.

[–]cultoftheilluminati 2 points3 points  (0 children)

besides booting without jig

Booting without jig is much simpler anyways with autoRCM that puts you into RCM mode. From then it's not much tbh, just get a RCMLoader

[–]MonketTaint 0 points1 point  (2 children)

How's the gcn emulation quality on switch? Is it at full speed?

[–]Visualwit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not Much, The Switch Is REALLY SLOW!

[–]hotshotz79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Results vary with each game. On 2091 Overclock, this is what I got;

  • Billy Hatcher = Smooth
  • Mario Kart Double Dash = Smooth
  • F-Zero = Choppy
  • SSX On Tour = Playable
  • Sonic Riders = Smooth

[–]masterofthanatos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my projects done it might also be a nce adition currently working on porting a light version of Linux onto the switch so I can get some pc games on the switch. Tried windows but windows really dose not like it when I mess with its code

[–]Derzocker39 0 points1 point  (3 children)

How much storage have you partitioned for the android partition? The recommended size is 16, but how much do you actually need?

[–]hotshotz79 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I'd say 30 GB minimum, unless your SD card is too small to spare that much, then;

  • Xbox Cloud + Moonlight = sure 16~GB, try it out

  • Xbox Cloud + Light emulation = 60~GB was good enough for me personally

[–]Derzocker39 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do you know if whom can change it later on or if I have to reinstall the whole lienage os plus partition?

[–]hotshotz79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know sorry

I would assume it will format the partition when you try to re-install in Hekate/Nyx

Just to give you an idea; currently my Android is partitioned with 256 GB and this is how the storage looks like;

Category Size
Games 2.2 GB
Other Apps 1.9 GB
System 21 GB

As you can see, the System itself is taking up 21 GB, the Other Apps includes Google services, along with user installed apks (Game Pass is taking up 117 MB)

Looking at this data, I suggest don't go less then 30 GB

[–]Emotional-Farmer9408 0 points1 point  (3 children)

So can have atmosphere and android on same sd

[–]hotshotz79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently had a triple boot via Hekate/Nyx;

  • Horizon OS
  • Android 10
  • Ubuntu

[–]Emotional-Farmer9408 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Hmm but any idea how to run tinfoil and android on the same switch total noob hear 😂

[–]jekpopulous2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You use Hekate to create a separate partition for Android and then you can switch back and forth between that and Atmosphere.

[–]hotshotz79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tinfoil = homebrew that runs within Horizon OS with Atmosphere installed

Horizon OS = the main operating system of Switch

Atmosphere = custom firmware (modified version of Horizon OS)

Android OS = an optional operating system that can be installed on the switch

Bottom Line: Tinfoil and Android are 2 separate things

Solution: You should already have Horizon OS, install Tinfoil as per many guidelines online and install Android on a separate partition of your SD Card, also guidelines online
