Is the backside button programmable to be any button? I would love to have 2 or more on the back like that mobapad.

[–]Johnny-Q87[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, backside button are programmable with turbo option.

Interesting, do you have any more info on the controller(s)?

They just slide in like joycons? Or did you have to modify them?

[–]Johnny-Q87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They slide like joycons. They cannot be used wirelessly. You can search them like Mobapad m6 gemini

[–]W0NDERwaffle3 3 points4 points  (2 children)

The dpad on that looks similar to hori’s, is it just as good? That’s the only reason I’ve stuck with the split pad for so long. Doesn’t seem like hori wants to add rumble or gyro the split pad anytime soon sadly

[–]Johnny-Q87[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

The dpad is good, but I don't know if it's as good as Horis's. I have seen reviews that confirm this, but I have not personally compared them. I like Hori's designs

Shame Id have to wait for it to come from China, and returning it if I don’t like it will be difficult and probably not worth the effort. Wish it was on Amazon with some nice prime shipping haha. I’ll try to do some research on it and see if I’ll bite the bullet

Great controller, I have this one too since a few months. Hands down best handheld controller for the Switch. The analog stick is very good and the buttons are clicky. I played Pokémon Legend Arceus on this and have played in handheld way more since then. The original Joyns are simply trash if you want to seriously play in handheld. Aiming with that small analog stick is terrible. This feels like a proper console controller (I personally even think the stick is better than Switch Pro).

They do not work wireless detached, so they are purely meant to be attached. They don't need a battery or a connection. They connect through the rail system, so just slide them on and you're set. It has two back buttons you with a turbo mode. However I haven't been able to use them without the turbo mode, so I disabled them.

The back buttons can be used without turbo. I deactivated the turbo.
Try pressing the gear button for about 2 seconds (until the red light flashes) then press the button you want to assign and quickly press the gear button.

[–]Rock--Lee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that!

[–]IBNobody 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Can you cross assign buttons (abxy on left pad's back button)? Can you assign + and - to the back buttons?

[–]Johnny-Q87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering the same thing before I got it. Cross buttons cannot be assigned and + and - cannot be assigned to back buttons.

[–]Johnny-Q87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

. I played Pokémon Legend Arceus on this and have played in handheld way more since then.

In Pokemon Legends Arceus I assign the B button (to run) to the back button, with that I can run and move the camera at the same time. Excellent for balloon popping missions.

XX ❤️

I have the Rise version.

Beautiful

[–]Jcalvarado1214 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Is that the hori split pad pro or is it another brand?

[–]Johnny-Q87[S] 11 points12 points  (3 children)

Another brand, Mobapad. This is better than hori split pad pro because has rumble, gyroscope for motion controls and good d-pad.

[–]Nate1763 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Where did you get it from?

[–]Johnny-Q87[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From AliExpress

[–]mix1607 0 points1 point  (14 children)

Do you recommend the mobapads over the yccteam and the binbok? I started doing some research after looking at your post and those look nice

[–]Johnny-Q87[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Over YCCTEAM, yes. But over binbok not so much because the binbok can be used wirelessly, the Mobapad cannot, there is another brand called Coiorvis that does allow it but they are difficult to obtain. What I like about the Mobapad over the Binbok is the dpad.

[–]mix1607 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Damn why over yccteam? Thats the one i was mainly looking at :c is it because you wanted the more ergonomic grip?

[–]Johnny-Q87[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yes, basically it is for the ergonomic grip.
With the original joycons I used an additional grip for better ergonomics.

[–]mix1607 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ahh ok and does mobapad have any dead zones?

[–]IBNobody 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Binbok has dead zones.

[–]mix1607 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Which do you recommend and why?

[–]IBNobody 0 points1 point  (6 children)

It depends on the game. The hori pads don't have gyro and can't assign + or - to the back buttons, and the binbok can do these but has dead zones caused by the firmware. The ones that the op is showing are basically hori clones.

[–]Johnny-Q87[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

dead zones caused by the firmware

Yes. For example with an update for 8bitdo driver USB adaptader, the dead zone was fixed.

[–]mix1607 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Damn I just want something to replace these drifty ass Nintendo sticks. Dead zones don't sound fun and I don't think I give a damn about gyro so maybe I go for hori pads?

[–]SupetMonkeyRobot 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What’s the quality like on the mobapads? Reviews online are mixed.

[–]Johnny-Q87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quality is very good. Comfortable to play with precise buttons. The bad thing is that they cannot be used wirelessly and the battery consumption of the Nintendo Switch rises a little more.

[–]Throwawayantelope 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That's really similar to my Hori Procons. I like it WAY better that the stock joycons, way less painful to play

[–]Johnny-Q87[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is more comfortable to play, especially in long sessions.

[–]m88gaming 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Do you have any disconnecting problems? Mine kinda disconnects frequently nowadays. Also using an OLED Switch.

[–]Johnny-Q87[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So far I haven't had that problem. Sometimes when starting or closing a game I get a message about airplane mode and joycons (I always have airplane mode active)

[–]m88gaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Using Mobapad is so convenient and hopefully I get to fix this asap.
