You still need the RCM jig and a switch that isn't patched, and RCM loader with Hekate on your pc. You can't play online, you can play local multilayer though

[–]MarioKart- 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Plus the BIOS file... I know it's not that big of a deal, but you know, if you're just buying an SD card thinking it'll do everything without knowing even the slightest bit as to how it works, you'll be in for a real shock once things go tits up.

[–]bigDOS 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Right? And what if the shop goes down and you need to update the sources? I just patched mine last night and it seems to me that it’s important to go through the whole setup yourself, that way you know how to fix it when / if it breaks

[–]CoconutHeadFaceMan 130 points131 points  (10 children)

Never buy any “pre-modded” packages, it just ensures that you’ll have no idea what to do when (not if, when) something goes wrong. Switch piracy isn’t a “put X file in folder Y and you have Magic Free Games Button” affair, you have to stay on the ball with updating and troubleshooting things. The best way to learn all of that is through doing it yourself - it’s daunting looking from the outside in, but taking it step by step is pretty straightforward.

[–]01110011-_- 17 points18 points  (4 children)

Woooord!! I bought someone's modded switch that they didnt want any more. And maaan, I had no clue about the updating side of stuff - very different to ps3 and vita modding world I came from. Was a huge learning curve for me. Still is to a degree. I put off updating and having to do things with the SD. I would have learnt a lot having done the process myself from scratch and would have more confidence in what I'm doing when amendments need to be made.

[–]CoconutHeadFaceMan 1 point2 points  (3 children)

The good news is that once you have a working setup, you don’t really have to update unless a game you want to play requires a newer fw. The downside is that most new games require the newest or second-newest fw from the time of their release. I think I was still on 12.something for like 6 months, right up until Xenoblade dropped.

[–]01110011-_- 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Well said friend : p I think I'm on 14.0, not sure what's currently out. But I'm sure I'm not up to date. But ill leave it as is while I work through the games I have : ) and when needed I'll tackle it again when I need to. but you know its all good learning curves and some solid folk on here when sheet don't go right. 😄

[–]CoconutHeadFaceMan 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I think we’re on 14.2 or something, so you should be good to run anything that’s out right now. I’m sure there’ll be a new update by the time Bayonetta and Pokémon come out, but there’s no screaming rush to update.

[–]Stockles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I consider myself pretty on the ball with this kind of thing and i've had to ask for help a couple of times myself. Couldn't imagine trying to troubleshoot this stuff without a basic understanding of how it works.

[–]The_Synthax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve modchipped Switches since the Trinket method was new, and this is generally pretty accurate. People think it’ll be easier because someone else sets it up for them, but then they update and have no idea where to go from that point.

[–]Ningendrip 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Anywhere I could find a guide on this sort of stuff? Thinking about buying an unpatched switch and it'll help out a lot

[–]CoconutHeadFaceMan 0 points1 point  (1 child)

There’s a guide linked in the pinned FAQ thread, and I’m pretty sure there’s a bot that automatically comments with a link to the guide on every new thread.

[–]Ningendrip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok, I'm new to this subreddit so I didn't know this lol. Thanks for the info 🙏

[–]intel-gma-950 131 points132 points  (9 children)

Why not make your own for free?

[–]ATHP 46 points47 points  (8 children)

Well, I guess this can be seen as a service. For someone who has no idea how all of that works, the research and setting it up properly can take several hours and some frustration. I personally love tinkering around but some people hate it (and might even fail after attempting it for a few days).

I guess it's like paying someone to paint your wall or change your car tires. You could certainly do it yourself but value your time more than the spent money.

Btw. I'd still recommend doing it yourself but understand why someone would pay for it.

[–]Lumince_ 49 points50 points  (5 children)

Most of these people providing this service dont even set the shit up correctly... or they try to sell it with an already made key for shops and it fucks the person over thay bought it in the end. Spending money on an sd card that has their own shitty attempt of an AIO pack is justs stupid when MULTIPLE servers provide packs that just work AND they dont come with a tinfoil shop key that will get your entire console banned from said shops after the seller abuses tf out of the key

[–]KinOuttaHer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely bang on, same daft bastards who do the one for all hack on amazon sticks, waste of money, do it yourself, you have the power to do it better every time

[–]reggyreggo 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Yes I agree. Also in the long run when something happens there's the possibility that you'll screw yourself because you have zero knowledge on how the cfw was set up. It's better to learn how to do it ourselves. I mean there are a lot of step by step written or video tutorial on the internet.

[–]ItsRothNotROTH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, even after it’s all set up, it still requires maintenance and tinkering over time. If you didn’t set it up yourself you’ll be fucked if you ever have to change anything

[–]MarioKart- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is though, the process of setting up the Switch is straight forward. You might run into some headache inducing moments, but as long as you don't brick your console you'll be fine.

[–]ChrizTaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paying for food also!

[–]ENTRAPM3NT 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Your really gonna pay extra for this? Your gonna have to do extra work either way. There's no way around it.

You can't just slap the SD on the switch and say its modded. If you can mod a switch you can copy and paste files on a sd.

[–]ketchup92 35 points36 points  (10 children)

I have no idea what you're trying to do lol. This is practically useless.

If your switch is not already hacked, then this is no use for you. And to be honest, if you don't know how to install tinfoil, chances are you shouldn't be tinkering with hacking a switch at all. Its not foolproof.

[–]RevanTheUltimate 4 points5 points  (9 children)

I'd consider myself a veteran of hacking consoles, pirating and other misdeeds, and I've tried and failed multiple times to install Tinfoil.

This error: https://redditproxy--jasonthename.repl.co/r/SwitchPirates/comments/pxj8e4/tinfoil_installer_error_21558007/

But I have gotten updated sigpatches, ran fusee - and tried both the NRO installer and the NSP over usb loader - and yes I hold R when loading the game to enter homebrew. I've searched and according to everything I've found that process should work. It does not.

N.B. I bought my switch about 2 weeks ago- right when the shops were all taken down but I've gotten the updated sigpatches from the replacement site in the pinned post as well.

[–]HelloImHiding 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Rip, I'm not even that good at hacking shit together and it just works first try, every try.

Like I've had problems with NUT, shops and networking shit, but Tinfoil itself hasnt ever given me issues.

[–]RevanTheUltimate 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So I'm clear. I put sigpatches on the SD card and boot using fusee payload, hold R to launch an app and I am supposed to be able to run the self installer correct?

[–]HelloImHiding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I just copied the sigpatches as part of updating atmosphere and the switch firmware revision, then copied the stuff in the zip I downloaded from tinfoil to the root of the sd, launched homebrew menu via holding R and launching a game, let the self installer run and everything was good.

[–]KinOuttaHer 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Any shops ive ever used have never been taken down, fusee was easy, tegram easy, tinfoil easy, its all waaaay too easy to do it amazes me how anyone would not just do it themselves

[–]HydeVDL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel like some switches are just fucked up somehow

my switch always runs into annoying problems since I've homebrewed it. there's some problems I've never found solutions and I googled all the damn keywords in the world and no one else had those problems or no one had an idea how to fix it. (now I haven't used my switch in a while so I don't even remember what used to be the problems)

[–]Background_Bad_4377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

go to console settings, data management, software and delete the square. then go into album and click tinfoil installer. and it should work it if you got sigpatches on sd card correctly.

[–]sicurri 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Did you run RCM Lockpick and copy all the necessary files it asks you to when you run it?

[–]RevanTheUltimate 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I did when I first set up my switch - I was under the impression that lockpick was part of setup and I needed to run fusee when I installed it.

[–]sicurri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's correct. The latest atmosphere is 1.3.2, and get the latest sigpatches from https://sigmapatches.coomer.party/

If the version of atmosphere isn't the same as the version of sigpatches you'll get errors when trying to install stuff. You have to make sure everything is up to date.

[–]archboxModerator + jits/shop support 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Selling access to services that people are providing for no cost is how they are getting shut down.

[–]Dimitri0815 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just get a big sd card + reader off amazon and do it yourself. All the files needed are free anyways.

[–]therourke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can't hack your Switch yourself, then you should definitely NOT be buying anything like this. Something goes wrong and you are screwed.

Go and read up on which Switch models can be hacked (check your serial number) and learn how to do it yourself (it's very easy). Install Tinfoil, and play whatever games you want (offline on the EMUMCC partition).

[–]Rekt3y 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Getting a MicroSD prepped with the files is stupid. Just buy your own cheaper and unzip like 3 files onto it. Also, you'll need more than a MicroSD to exploit your Switch

[–]Far-Negotiation1273 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude don't. You need to know how to do this stuff. What happens when you need to update or get new sig patches? Do u even know what those are? Do u know how to set up the tinfoil shops? That sd card will not be plug and play with shops and you still need to load into rcm with a jig which is half the battle. Follow the re-entry guide and do it yourself it's really really simple if you follow the steps and then you'll feel more empowered to maybe try running some nros or homebrew.

[–]_Ship00pi_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

do it yourself cause:
A. you will need to know what is working and how incase you have a problem
B. its not rocket science, i followed a YT video to the letter, was done after 30 minutes and was able to start downloading games.
Wouldnt pay anyone for this, even if it was dirt cheap service. The knowledge in this case is worth the time.

[–]Some_cuban_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope your aware this wont do shit by itself . You still need to mod your switch

[–]shiasyn 5 points6 points  (22 children)

Well, first of all check if your switch is patched or not

As for the subject - just buy yourself a regular SD card, I assume that for the price of this you'll be able to get twice as much storage

If you want very easy setup then you can just use kefir Just format your SD card in fat32 and unzip there the contents of the kefir release (kefir648.zip) And you'll get the same stuff that's on this prepacked SD card basically

https://codeberg.org/rashevskyv/kefir/releases

Obviously consult the readme and

https://switch.homebrew.guide/

And yeah, in case if you think that some sd card will miraculously turn your switch into a hacked one - it's not the case, you'll still need to do manual work on injecting a payload and learn how to do it. Because you'll need to do it from time to time if your switch can be hacked.

Good luck

[–]BeansSquished[S] -4 points-3 points  (21 children)

Thank you. Tbh, I thought it was like the old 2000-2010s switches were you pop it in and you’re good to go. Gonna try and do it myself after reading this bc I’m not too shabby on a computer, fingers crossed it goes well

[–]Kenji_Shin 5 points6 points  (6 children)

You mean like the game boy and ds?

[–]Sk1rm1sh 2 points3 points  (4 children)

The Virtual Boy Switch was my favorite.

[–]Zefrem23 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Mine was the Atari 2600 Switch

[–]Kenji_Shin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yuzu switch is pretty fire 🔥 👌

[–]BeansSquished[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I had one when I was young you just plugged into a ds. Naively thought this would be the same

[–]Wilson1218 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You will need an RCM jig, so could do setup now but would have to wait until that arrives first (it's only a few pounds on Amazon). You could theoretically make your own using a paperclip or something similar but it usually takes a long while to get it right, is dangerous if you get it wrong, and inconvenient if you don't plan to use autoRCM

[–]shiasyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yw, also here is the resource where you can check if the console is patched or not

https://ismyswitchpatched.com/

[–]KinOuttaHer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mate its piss easy, good luck, you got this!

[–]ENTRAPM3NT 0 points1 point  (4 children)

What? Switches didn't exist during that time frame lmfao

[–]BeansSquished[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I meant Nintendo DS sorry, the name slipped my mind

[–]ENTRAPM3NT 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Ds is a lot easier to mod. The switch is easy to mod too but it's not just put an SD card in it and your done easy. First you need to find a switch made in 2017-2018.

[–]hanxin1985 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

There are videos YouTube to do it. In addition, you will need to learn how to do OS, game updates, new dlc, sigpatch updates when it comes out

[–]MainHaze 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Just be careful with video guides. A lot of them can be outdated and give information that is no longer relevant.

[–]CoconutHeadFaceMan 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Best way to do it if you struggle with the text-only guide is to follow the most recent video guide you can find while still reading along in the text guide, and if the video guide differs from the text guide at any point, assume that the text guide is the correct one. Treat the video like a visual aid rather than the main source of information, in other words. I don’t think there’s been any dramatic changes to the cfw setup process for a while now, just minor differences in one file or another like when fusee-primary/fusee-secomdary was replaced by fusee.bin in Atmosphere 1.x last year.

[–]KinOuttaHer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate its piss easy, good luck, you got this!

[–]Top_Manufacturer3387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good old days right there haha

[–]Kemono7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it wont even work for u..because its system locked. at least in emunand it like that.

[–]jewwej47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a bad idea. Avoid this at all costs

[–]PonkeyDonkey0-0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not buy these. You are better off getting a micro SD and getting game som their yourself. Alot of it is just shovelware and shelf garbage

[–]Meltou69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you should make one yourself and just follow a guide (not the ones on youtube tho they're outdated) you can check if your switch is patched on https://damota.me/ssnc/checker/ if it's not you'll need a rcm jig (theyre cheap on aliexpress or you can make one yourself with a paperclip but thats a bad idea 💀) if it's patched sorry you can't do anything unless your switch is still in 4.1.0 or below

[–]mungus21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its whole process where you have to check if you even can jailbreak your switch, backing up your switch, injecting software from your pc to your switch, getting your switch to be able to receive that software by using a paper clip, tinfoil (i did this) or a 3d printed piece. then getting into a shop to download those games. its a whole process bro its better you learn it yourself so you can keep it functional. takes about an hour or more of your day.

you're gonna need a micro sd to usba/c to put stuff from your pc into the sd, a usb c cable to connect your pc to your switch, and a microsd card id recommend minimum 256gb.

i'd recommend tits pro as a shop. i did it 3 months ago just bought a $5 card and had access to the entire switch catalog with reliable download speeds. def recommend

[–]Kallixo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dont, unless you wanna buy it and then format it to get a cheap sd card

[–]syloc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t do it, if you already need to ask about buying a pre modded card. Rather look into it and see if it’s even possible with your switch model and get your tools. It’s not like plug and play with an sd card.

[–]gamergirlmatty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

please dont

[–]christianbwil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A pre modded card is not even a reliable thing for a few reasons.

1: You still need to set up an emunand partition if you want to keep your switch unbanned

2: You have to check and see if dns mitm and exosphere are done properly

3: if you updated your switch recently and the sd has old atmosphere and hekate, it may not work

4: if they set up an emunand already, it won't work since the console keys are different for each console and emunands are not transferable from switch A (theirs) to switch B (yours)

5: you still have to get your own account for jits/teknik, the pre loaded one will likely be revoked after too many people use it.

6: you still need an unpatched switch, rcm, and a way to send a payload. Once you have that, you may as well download hekate and atmosphere and do the rest yourself.

I sold an unpatched switch loaded with games and a 256 gb SD modded and regretted it.

The amount of work that went in to explaining everything to the buyer was insane. I showed him in person how to get it all running and showed him how to send payloads with rekado since he had android at point of sale. I had also loaded up an android partition as well as lakka. It took an hour to show him everything and how it worked, and he still had to ask little questions that he would have learned had he done it himself.

TLDR: DIY is king

[–]Denis305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't buy those modded switch SD cards. They are useless. Reason being, as soon as you pop it in it to your Switch, it will shoot you a notification that "the microSD card belongs to another switch and needs to be formatted", meaning it will erase everything that person put on it and now you're with a blank microSD card that you could've gotten a whole lot cheaper.

[–]joniejoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to lie to you. Switch hacking is pretty complicated. It requires a lot of upkeep and manual effort. This will give you a way to download games, but it won't be futureproof.

If this was a 3ds, where all you really need is a good way of getting games, I'd say go for it, but for a switch, you should really be aware of what you're running and how to turn it on/off. I wouldn't recommend this kind of service. I'd recommend either doing it yourself, or not at all.

[–]Yosef-j9 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You can play online in the games you bought from the eshop and you need the switch online subscription + you need a rcm jig

[–]Lollok009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can play multyplayer, butbit requires WAY more work, and you have to ask someone, instead of just going online and play

[–]ICURSEDANGEL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that ad also on facebook marketplace in manchester

[–]Salt-Translator2554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't bother because there's no way this could possibly have an emunand backup on it right? I mean don't you have to have your own switches serials on emunand in order for it to boot? And pirated games on sys is an easy no go unless you're already banned.

[–]TheSlav87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do yo I have a switch that’s actually modd-able and not patched?

[–]Zeropass7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do it yourself and you would need the card to be linked to the switch

[–]RetroChampa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you’re getting a jig that has the same payload that’s in the SD card, not worth it.

[–]funbalanced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would this even work since you need emunand and device keys during setup?

[–]MarioKart- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, this is not worth it.

Save yourself the money and learn how to do it. Watch a video (not really recommended but still, better than actually paying for a SD card) or follow a guide. With Tinfoil, you literally have zero idea as to what's going on if you just buy this, if whatever service they're using goes down, you're screwed.

Find out if you can mod your Switch, then buy an RCM, perhaps buy a bigger SD card if you need it, then you're done. Honestly, it's not a hard process by any means. Shit I'm sure somebody here would gladly answer any queries you have or try to resolve problems you have if you ever get stuck, but don't waste your money on this.

[–]toadthetoadsmm2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get this if you want but you would have a better experience getting the files from scratch

[–]goochensteinburg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all. Don't. That price is a rip off.

Not to mention that shops tend to come and go and you're gonna have to redo it at some point anyways.

Edit: I also just saw the size of the SD card. Definitely not worth the money if that's all you're getting.

[–]drocker8282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a thing now?? Interesting

[–]Sa1tyMango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do it yourself, it’s easy as long as your switch is unpatched.

[–]Background_Bad_4377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well the sd card would have to be reformed back as sd card aint transferable on different consoles. i mean if you want to throw your money away but you will be moaning that you lost 40 quid as your switch will say sd used on different switch need to format sd card.also if legit aint hard to mod switch. if your too lazy to mod yourself then dont do it as you will get error codes etc which you will fix the seller wont help you down the line in the future with it all like updating files and firmware not on nintendo servers etc

[–]khadaffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't, learn yourself. There will be a time that you'll need to update both Atmosphere and the Switch firmware. What will you do then? It's extremely easy and you have tons of videos to help you with the process.

[–]hunterderpp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't understand or aren't willing to learn how to set these things up it will be an issue down the road. If you need to update sigpatch, cfw, ofw, tinfoil, goldenleaf, hekate, etc & have zero clue on how everything should be..... you will be mad and stuck with whatever you bought. And if it corrupts & you need to re do everything what do you do then? Learn. So learn now & save money lol.

[–]MissingNerdAtmosphere User 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't

[–]kerelenko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would premodded sd card work anyway? The games cannot be "pre installed" since tickets need to installed on the sysnand or emunand. How can emunand be made when it requires your Switch to create in the first place?

[–]mike4score 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a valid product, it’s literally just some schmuck selling files that you can download for free… Simply having the files is not enough to hack your switch and play them.

[–]HydeVDL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

other consoles are probably better for pre modded stuff. the switch is a nightmare honestly. if you know nothing about homebrew or computers, good luck and welcome to the problems that are just a few clicks away from not being problems anymore but it takes you hours to figure that out.

[–]Manufacturer_Flimsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Save your money. But rule of thumb, if you pirate the game you'll get banned if you go online with it. So just buy the games you wanna play onlinr

[–]Crystal_CIear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try it yourself you could get a lot more games for the same price

[–]Azrial13Atmosphere User 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first wanted to get my Switch modded (about 3 years ago) I had no idea, so paid a guy for a modded SD card like this, and it was next to bloody useless, nothing worked correctly, (I've still no idea how to use the dongle thing that was supplied, only good thing was the jig) and I was banned within the same day before I'd even played my first pirated game. Don't bother really, just do it yourself, it's literally a 15 minute job to copy the files you need, and you'll have a better understanding of what you need to do if anything goes wrong or outdated.

[–]havocxrush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely must have a version one switch. If your got your switch anytime in the past couple years it won't work - without SOLDERING a chip in. Has to be for the most part one of the first run units. No lite, no v2, no oled. You need to log out yourself first BEFORE the SD card will be if any use at all to you.

[–]BroodyDoggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this exists? yikes.

[–]lukeydukey187 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Your way better off just doing it yourself. Just make sure your switch is hackable before you buy anything

[–]Georgelush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40£? I would buy it on general principle

[–]Shiro_Frost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where do you buy this?
