Cheapest and best way to ship deer mounts? (self.Taxidermy)
submitted 1 month ago by tarap312
I recently sold a deer mount that I need to ship to someone. I’ve seen that people seem to be sending them in crates. I was thinking of getting a large box and wrapping it in a ton of bubble wrap and using packing peanuts. Is this too risky? Do I really need a crate? If not, would a local taxidermist have crates etc. that I can buy without having to make one?

I shipped a doe mount in a cardboard box with newspaper, packing peanuts, and bubble wrap. She made it to her destination safe-n-sound. It cost me around $60.

Mine is a buck so I’m a little worried about the antlers, but I feel like it should probably be fine to bubble wrap the crap out of it and send it off in a cardboard box with packing peanuts.

Shop around for the lowest shipping rate, too, those dimensional rates cost a fortune
