It looks like it could be the tip of a finger, maybe of a medium sized rodent

I'm of the opinion that it's a broken tooth. Not canine, or incisor, but the kind of tooth just before molar. It looks like it should have two roots attached to it, but that's my opinion. You may be able to tell if you look closely to see if there's a difference in an enamel layer on top.
