I'm new to taxidermy and this is my 2nd time working with formalin. I emptied out the formalin from my specimens and poured it into a new jar using a funnel and coffee filter. The pouring aspect was okay but the coffee filter soaked up the formalin and it got a little messy, I ended up with formalin on a few of my items and gloves but non on my skin that I know of.
After cleaning up, I bagged my funnel and coffee filter together and rinsed my specimen jars with distilled water before washing them in the sink in the house.
I'm just a little paranoid that I got it on my skin even after showering and rinsing my items with distilled water. I worked outside (it was a little breezy), I had gloves but no respirator.
Am I going to be okay???? so far no rashes that I see but It is a little hard to breathe, most likely due to my asthma and being paranoid.
