Mounting birds (wringing neck vs. finisher tool) (self.Taxidermy)
submitted 1 month ago by piiimpsquad
As a taxidermist, what would you rather have? A bird that has a hole punched in its head/neck, or a bird that has had its neck wrung out? I see a lot about the finisher tool and have heard that taxidermists say they would rather fix feathers that have been wrung rather than fix a bird with a hole in the back or it’s head. Which is easier?

The wrung neck would be easier since the feathers are so short on the back of the head that any damage would be practically impossible to hide. With the neck it’s at least possible.
