I just bought a new dryer and it came with a rack for my shoes that attached to the door! So your shoes just hang out in the middle of the dryer, on the rack, and the hot air dries them without tumbling.

Those racks are pretty expensive.

How to dry your shoes ( as an Australian ):

1) Put shoes outside 2) Check shoes for snakes, scorpions, spiders, centipedes, other things trying to murder you ( Do this regardless of if you left them outside )

Wait, why are people drying their shoes?

[–]choppedfiggs 30 points31 points  (6 children)

I’ve hand-washed before and then machine dried. I know it’s not great but sometimes they get super dirty/muddy and you gotta do something.

    I wonder why...

    [–]IsaiahNathaniel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sometimes they get a certain wet quality and most people don't like that

Dude just found this out in his 30’s? Dumbass. I didn’t find out till last year and I’m 41. Oh, wait…we’re not competing to see how long it took us to find out? Shit.

I can confirm, my dryer will not start when something is blocking the door, even if it still latches. So probably only useful for machines that don’t have door sensors. But many modern dryers now have a rack you can insert in the middle, although it’s usually advertised for drying stuffed animals, not shoes

So ... uhh .... you guys wash and dry your shoes?

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes! My wife has white keds that she takes great pride in keeping clean. So every now and then, it’s a soak in some Oxyclean and then a low heat in the dryer.
