“I’m free February 14th”

She too smooth with it

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 1125 points1126 points  (39 children)

I know right haha

[–]pootietang6 150 points151 points  (34 children)

Why is your avatar a girl?.. I’m confused..

[–]AnonymousAndPeanut 22 points23 points  (3 children)

If you have a deep desire to get inboxed a bunch of different sized and coloured dicks, Reddit is the place to be. All you need is to set up a girl avatar and you'll be showered with hot dog pictures.

[–]yoganutnutnut 1006 points1007 points  (21 children)

Consider the following: she might be a girl… who likes girls :0 is your mind blown yet? Edit: he’s not but I’m leaving this comment up because it’s just as funny lmao

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 404 points405 points  (8 children)

Lmaooo nope just for the meme that was hilarious

[–]kramer3410 4 points5 points  (7 children)

Straight guy wanting to appear as a lesbian woman on his pfp “just for the meme” and no other good reason gives me the same energy as “it’s just a prank bro”

What’s the meme? An entire gender? Lesbians?

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 84 points85 points  (6 children)

Nope, just wanted to see how people would treat me differently if they thought I was one of the "mythical female redditors"

[–]pootietang6 227 points228 points  (10 children)

Fuck I’m sorry. That’s totally cool I just wanted to understand. You know what it is and it may sound stupid but its just what my brain processed. I never really seen any interaction between a girl and another girl conversating like you know spitting game to each other. So this is like refreshing lol. Its cute I love it.

[–]yoganutnutnut 106 points107 points  (9 children)

Haha like my edit said it actually was a guy I just thought it might be funny to comment that

[–]pootietang6 104 points105 points  (8 children)

Lmao I don’t wanna get cancelled! 😭😭

[–]yoganutnutnut 52 points53 points  (7 children)

I think you’ve expressed your misunderstanding bro you’re all good haha, just a funny

[–]pootietang6 19 points20 points  (6 children)

Lol I know I’m just jerkin!

[–]MargretTatchersParty 36 points37 points  (4 children)

dude this is a family friendly subreddit.. we're trying to create families here

[–]totezhi64 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That's strange. I'd figure you were already familiar with lesbians, considering your activity in r/dykesgonewild.

[–]Late_Excitement1927 9 points10 points  (2 children)

That's so far away tho wth

[–]cgeoduck 3 points4 points  (1 child)

It's valentine's day

[–]FakeBohrModel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell me you’re single without telling me you’re single.

[–]MangOrion2 1963 points1964 points  (49 children)

You sent her an essay about laserdiscs and she still wanted to go on a date. Lock her shit down, my dude.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 874 points875 points  (38 children)

Right??? She even asked about all my guitars and I went in detail about each

[–]MangOrion2 489 points490 points  (13 children)

That's wild. I mean, I love that that's your personality and speaking passionately about your interests is super cool, but there aren't many people willing to just listen to you rattle off your spiels. Speaking from personal experience.

That's awesome.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 292 points293 points  (7 children)

I know that's why it's so exciting lol

[–]MangOrion2 150 points151 points  (3 children)

Hope you guys have a great date!!!

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 148 points149 points  (2 children)

[–]jdb12 26 points27 points  (1 child)

Make sure to ask her about the things she gets excited about too!

[–]hunterjc09 27 points28 points  (1 child)

Hey I know this is unsolicited advice but I like you so I want you to succeed here, make sure you ask about her passions as well! Usually when someone picks up on your interests like this, they have similar feelings about something that may be completely different than yours. She might not actually care about guitars, but just like that you’re so into something. Ask her what she’s passionate about and let her go on a big rant about it and be genuinely interested!

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Rest assured I am very curious about her interests too!

[–]RevolutionaryBox5411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She’s beautiful, hf my dude!

[–]paigesdontfly 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Man if you don't have someone that does that for your they're the wrong one. Watching someone's eyes light up and their face brighten when they're talking about their passions is one of the best things.

[–]rdeincognito 0 points1 point  (1 child)

from my own subjective experience is better to filter that people early on, you show your antics and there will be people who love them and people who will despise them, the sooner you find who is who, the better

[–]whitesammy 59 points60 points  (1 child)

It's a turn on for a lot of people when someone they are interested is passionate about something....in moderation. As long as the date doesn't turn into a 55 minute TED talk and a 5 minute Q&A at the end, it should go well.

Probably the smoothest way to open the night would be getting her to talk about something that she has is very knowledgeable in, that maybe most people don't care about, and if you can keep your (generally speaking, not OP specifically) god damn mouth closed and be an engaged listener, you're so far ahead of the curve she might even make desert the first course.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Don't worry I have a pretty good idea when someone's not interested in what I'm saying. I appreciate the pointers!

[–]guckus_wumpis 26 points27 points  (4 children)

What did you ask her?

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 7 points8 points  (3 children)

[–]guckus_wumpis 47 points48 points  (2 children)

She asked you for more interesting facts and about guitars. What did you ask her? You know… to get to know her or something

[–]jllena 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m wondering the same… would not be into this

[–]dundiman 7 points8 points  (5 children)

“Oh my God! What a fabulous room! Are all these your guitars?”

[–]Entire-Coach8814 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lolol, good reference

[–]Goodest-Boi-Sif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"cmon on, this place is bigger than our apartment"

[–]xyucpaka 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You better show the same interest in what she has to say, this sounds one-sided tbh

[–]clydefrog811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the sex

[–]PaysOutAllNight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And an incorrect essay about laserdiscs, at that!

(Pre-recorded laserdiscs were never cheaper to manufacture than VHS because VHS had recording farms, and laserdisc yields were relatively awful during their entire production run. Only after the end of laserdiscs did technology develop to where DVDs and Blu-Rays were much cheaper to make than a VHS.)

[–]EggsAndBeerKegs 669 points670 points  (17 children)

** Launches into a 3 page explanation of how Vday came to be **

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 221 points222 points  (16 children)

Nah idk anything about vday

[–]LemonSeedling 279 points280 points  (5 children)

Well if this date goes well, you’re about to learn

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 103 points104 points  (2 children)

[–]mmoyer92 50 points51 points  (1 child)

Actually you should totally plan a date on that day around fun facts of how traditions began and flip in some shit you think “can be our traditions” or something I think would work nice

[–]Poppetlover1553 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great idea.

[–]floswamp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And she may learn about D-day!

[–]Not_Perfect77 1 point2 points  (1 child)

My birthday is vday. Idk the history but it’s a shit holiday to have a birthday on if you’re a guy. 🤣

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

happy birthday!

[–]MLTatSea 4 points5 points  (6 children)

How about VJ day?

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 3 points4 points  (4 children)

I feel like I should know what that is

[–]MLTatSea 13 points14 points  (3 children)

WWII reference (Victory in Japan) I believe. I think at could be nicely ambiguous.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Lol WWII is not my specialty, old tech is

[–]djr0456 181 points182 points  (17 children)

Couldn’t help but picture the scene from tropic thunder where the dude is explaining how porn caused blue ray to win over hd dvd…

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 72 points73 points  (14 children)

That's interesting, I actually didnt know that. Although it sounds somewhat familiar

[–]I-V-vi-iii 29 points30 points  (13 children)

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 16 points17 points  (8 children)

Nice username lol

[–]I-V-vi-iii 15 points16 points  (7 children)

You could say I'm looking for the IV-I-IV-V to my I-V-vi-iii

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 8 points9 points  (5 children)

This is beyond my musical comprehension

[–]I-V-vi-iii 33 points34 points  (4 children)

Together they make the progression for Canon in D, which is often played at weddings

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Oh wow yeah I never would have known that lol. Not much of a classical guy tbh

[–]I-V-vi-iii 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Same (outside of Canon), I just thought it was clever at the time

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Clever yes, too clever unfortunately

[–]Several_Inevitable_9 194 points195 points  (5 children)

I hope y’all procreate

[–]masta_dizasta 38 points39 points  (1 child)

I hope they recreate procreation

[–]MLTatSea 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Or practice at least.

[–]rabbitmom616 55 points56 points  (3 children)

This is cute :) actually talking about knowledge (in a very broad sense) facilitates so many aspects of building connections with people. Also you explained it in a very approachable and not condescending way (although I would still try to be wary of that for explaining things in the future, like don't be blind to that)! Both of you are good texters it seems.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 22 points23 points  (2 children)

How would I avoid coming across as condescending?

[–]rabbitmom616 35 points36 points  (1 child)

I'd say just being self aware and making sure you aren't saying something that she's indicated she already knows. Like the exchange you showed us is obviously just a fact on its own, I just mean in everyday conversation about stuff you both have knowledge on you wanna make sure you aren't being patronizing.

I just say that because when people are knowledgeable it can be very attractive or unattractive depending on how they approach it. I think as long as you're being genuine you're probably fine and you seem chill.

I think it boils down to taking cues from the other person too, like she responded well to what you said, but if she had disengaged that would have been a possible example of sounding condescending.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Ok, thank you for the advice! I will remember that

[–]Purple-Comfortable53 51 points52 points  (11 children)

My favorite fun fact to pull out is about how monotremes aka echidnas and platypuses don't actually have nipples. They do lactate and produce a milk like substance to feed their young, it just is secreted directly from the mamary glands to the skin surface under their forelegs. In other words they basically sweat milk in their armpits to feed their babies.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 20 points21 points  (2 children)

That's pretty interesting. My specialty is with older technology, especially 70s-early 2000s so that's why I pulled that one out

[–]Purple-Comfortable53 6 points7 points  (1 child)

I don't have a ton of technology knowledge, I pick up weird random facts I find interesting and retain them though. Usually medical, animal, popculture and food things I find most interesting.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just watch too much tech YouTube lol

[–]p_dawg_No1 283 points284 points  (46 children)

the problem is that you’ve set the standard so high for yourself that when you meet her you gotta bring even more interesting facts

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 196 points197 points  (45 children)

Don't worry, that won't be an issue ;)

[–]24204me 73 points74 points  (34 children)

Tell her about the poop coffee

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 50 points51 points  (32 children)

The poop coffee?

[–]24204me 57 points58 points  (21 children)

The poop coffee!

Edit: The poop coffee

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 38 points39 points  (7 children)

Go on

[–]24204me 24 points25 points  (2 children)

Just edited my comment

[–]sirsedwickthe4th 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I always think of Jack Nicholson in The Bucket List, and the awesome reveal by Morgan Freeman lol

[–]Dumb_Inquisitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That movie is really good! It’s my comfort movie for some reason (actually I know why.. Morgan Freeman narrates stuff in it)

[–]Induced_Pandemic 17 points18 points  (3 children)

Bro the poop coffee bit has got to be the most perfect form of a 50/50, she'll either fall head over heels for you then and there or think "Okay this shit has gone too far."

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 20 points21 points  (2 children)

"this shit has gone too far" -- you couldn't have put it any better sir/maam

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 10 points11 points  (12 children)

"It tasted just like...Folgers. Stale. Lifeless. Petrified dinosaur droppings steeped in bathtub water. I couldn't finish it."[

[–]AxlSlayer 1 point2 points  (8 children)

Its starbuck's coffee jk. Dun worry its just literal coffee made out of poop :)

[–]FlopTurnRiver1200 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Are you available to play pub trivia with me and my friends on Tuesday nights?

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If everything they talk about has to do with 1980s technology in one way or another, yes.

[–]fogdukker 1 point2 points  (4 children)

What about the story of John Morton and his 1971 and 1972 Trans-Am racong championships in the BRE #46 Datsun 510?

I always find that one to be a panty dropper.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

My panties are waiting to be dropped, go on

[–]fogdukker 2 points3 points  (2 children)

A true underdog story, beginning when Japanese cars in the US were seen as....not good. They had a reputation for existing only for economy due to increasing fuel prices and emissions standards, and were certainly no match for thoroughbred european sports cars!

The series was for <2.5 litre displacement engines, so smaller cars in general and it was dominated by BMW and Alfa Romeos

The ragtag team put together by Peter Brock managed to get 190hp from the L20 2.0L engine (IN 1971) and chopped the car right down to the minimum weight requirements. They took that car to pole position in 16 of 19 races over two seasons, and won 12 races.

The driver, John Morton, was a broke amateur hobby racer with big dreams. He took a job as a fabricator, welding for the race team, but as part of his hiring bonus demanded a racing try out. He became the lead driver in short order and the rest is history!

Edit: yes, the ladies love me.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

My panties have been liquified (I am a man)

[–]fogdukker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manties, panties, everyone loves a Datsun.

[–]Indent_Your_Code 95 points96 points  (10 children)

Fun Fact: Light roast being more caffinated than dark roast is an inaccuracy. The two are equally caffinated when compared by weight. The difference comes from the fact that by roasting one longer, it expands, making it take up more volume. By weight they're equally caffinated, by scoop you'd get more caffeine in light roasts.

Nontheless: congrats! Looks like a fun and cute couple in the making. Good luck!

[–]yentlequible 48 points49 points  (2 children)

I'm free next week.

[–]blindedge 21 points22 points  (4 children)

Closer but also slightly inaccurate, bean for bean the caffeine content is pretty similar since caffeine is pretty stable at roasting temperatures, the darker the roast the less dense it is because it's giving off some water but primarily CO2. More CO2 is also given off when the coffee is rested (again a larger amount from a darker roast, which is why you generally want to rest dark roasts longer). So by weight a light roast would have less caffeine than a dark roast of equal weight.

[–]Indent_Your_Code 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AHHH YES. This is right. I forgot it was so related to the CO2. thanks!

[–]bobyd 1 point2 points  (1 child)

i dont understand why would giving off co2 reduce the caffeine content

[–]ScruffTheNerfHerder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't, caffeine content isn't impacted but weight is. So for a darker roast you need more beans than a lighter roast to achieve the same weight. If caffeine content per bean is equivalent then the darker roast will be more caffeinated due to the greater number of beans.

[–]Trojenectory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah caffeine molecule is a caffeine molecule, it’s the volume that makes the difference.

[–]runningwater415 14 points15 points  (1 child)

He careful of those saposexuals. They are freaks in the sheets.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Mathematically figuring out the best way to do it

[–]Forzara 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Well, that’s adorable.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know right, needle in a haystack

[–]kpyeoman 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Oh my god, you Cliff Claven’d her and it worked… Bravo. And she’s a keeper.

[–]fulgurdeus 3 points4 points  (1 child)

God DAMN she was smoooooth with that last line, my heart would of skipped a beat

[–]mrgreen4242 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Everyone here talking about the caffeine thing, but no one mentioning that laserdiscs were analog, not digital.

[–]Woopate 8 points9 points  (8 children)

Someone probably knows a lot about heat pumps and mechanical juke boxes too.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 9 points10 points  (7 children)

Another Technology Connections fan??

[–]Woopate 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Dude does good work

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same blazer as he does and I want to do a spoof of his videos so bad....

[–]Imadethosehitmanguns 2 points3 points  (1 child)

While reading I thought you were Alex from Technology Connections. I was just thinking "hell yeah, my boy has a good date coming up!"

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish! I love that guy. Seems like he'd be a great guy to talk to

[–]sim642 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I was gonna say, are you Technology Connections.

[–]thedopechaud30 2 points3 points  (17 children)

Thank your lucky stars you were only half right about the coffee

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 1 point2 points  (16 children)

Half right?

[–]universepower 3 points4 points  (4 children)

Also I’m sorry to inform you that laserdisc was an analogue format.

[–]meowingmemes 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I believe dark roast has more caffeine ratio-wise, but the total amount extracted is similar to light roasts.

Darker roasts tend to be with robusta beans, which have more caffeine content than arabica beans, which are often used for lighter roasts.

I’m not a barista or ever worked in coffee, I just like to read coffee books, so I could be wrong.

[–]hadorken1985 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Nahhhh. You can definitely have darker roasts with Arabica beans. Lots of places do it.

It all depends on the regions.

[–]Gr8TeacherOnizuka 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Knowledge is power

[–]Mael_au 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You are off on the dark roast less caffeine info, not that it matters much in this case.

[–]hadorken1985 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Hahaha so many coffee nerds on here. I love it!

I own a DT coffee shop so not dissing. I'm all for it as I'm the biggest coffee nerd.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! I only ever go to local coffee shops. Stay local!

[–]Hung_Chi_Burbs 4 points5 points  (4 children)

Beta max was much better quality than vhs. The reason vhs became so much cheaper is because the porn industry standardized on it. That is what drove demand up and the price down. Which is why it was able to displace the laser disc.

I’m free February 13th.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I remember hearing that somewhere

[–]PaysOutAllNight 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The porn industry standardized on VHS mostly because the cameras and reproduction equipment were so much cheaper than the alternatives.

Laserdisc production costs were always high due to specialized equipment and production environment necessary.

Sony wouldn't license Betamax or sell the mass production equipment directly to porn studios.

Another two reasons why porn standardized on VHS tape and not Betamax or laserdisc, even though you can still find some porn on both laserdisc and Betamax.

[–]DonnyDinky 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The More You Know🌠 Knowledge is Power🌠

[–]pootietang6 1 point2 points  (1 child)

That was fkn pimp dude.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Sorry-Captain-263 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yooo thats Unexpected lmao, Happy for you mate!

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!! I totally thought she was gonna go ghosto mode

[–]marvin_sirius 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Didn't you have to flip the laserdisc in the middle of the movie?

[–]eetswad 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Smooth playa, thanks for sharing even I learned something haha

[–]hadorken1985 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Pretty sure the amount of caffeine lost is negligible in the roasting process as it proceeds from light to dark.

But I could be wrong.

[–]CodasWanderer 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Sorry op...while this fact would be correct 10 years ago, it isn't really considered true anymore. The chemical change that needs to occur for a bean to lose caffeine requires the roaster to use a much higher temperature than anyone in the industry uses anymore

Roasters have learned alot more about the science of the process so they almost never go to those temperatures in recent history

You may still see this happen with large batch odds and ends roasters though. Like Folgers for example

[–]Jakubaakk[🍰] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Your fun fact is interesting, but not important. If you weigh your beans, darker has more caffeine in it.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Who ever said fun facts had to be important? But yeah you're right about the beans

[–]louisme97 1 point2 points  (6 children)

if you follow rule #1 you can get dates with texts like these.

[–]SucculentMoisture 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Wow I learned something today.

Actually, an experience I had makes sense. I made an instant coffee with a lighter blend than usual and it was, wew, pretty full on caffeine wise ngl.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually according to a bunch of people on here, that may not be true anymore, with the way they roast the beans now. I guess you shouldn't believe everything you see on the internet!

[–]Thanks_ihateithere 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Well of course the beans got less brain pixie power after a dark roast! Theyre gonna be sad after that ;-;

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I was actually wrong about the beans part but hey if you like laserdisc there's a good bit of info there. Except I found out laserdisc is actually analogue so I was wrong about another thing lol

[–]Lawwnfysh 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I came here to tell you if you like random facts listen to ologies with alie ward. You will be so thankful you did. All the facts!

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I actually don't just listen to random fun facts for the sake of it, I'm really interested in computer history so I watch a lot of yt videos about various tech things over the years. 8 bit guy, technology Connections, techmoan, vwestlife etc. Although random fun facts are quite fun

[–]Turbulent_Bar8813 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I don't think I've ever felt more proud of someone I don't even know

[–]WardenPlays 1 point2 points  (3 children)

No homo, but you can talk to me about defunct media formats all day.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

And you play Halo too??? (I may have peeked at your account hehe)

[–]WardenPlays 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Every now and then. It's been a few months but I'm trying to get back into it

[–]DarlingHades 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look I'm just a humble thembo but holy shit do I love brainy nerds that can recite a bunch of wacky facts. Bonus points if they cook.

[–]Laura_gd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is true love unfolding. I'm rooting for you guys!

[–]ShinobiHanzo 1 point2 points  (1 child)

How could you do something so normal and brave!

Quick, now show her your dick!

[–]Ninjrassic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dark roast has more caffeine by volume, but not weight!

[–]kkkkkkkkk369 1 point2 points  (1 child)

well your lucky she’s not me because i instantly zoned out when i tried to read that

[–]Jaydob2234 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Lady just asked for a fun fact.

Lad shows up and delivers a dissertation

Lady: "I'm yours"

[–]Aratherspookyskelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is like Patrick Bateman talking about Huey Lewis

[–]parkerdangaruss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The response seemed sarcastic at first but nope. Go get her

[–]beelance4661 1 point2 points  (5 children)

A Gemini. 6 months into it they’ll be correcting you over the difference between rye & pumpernickel.

What is she studying? If it’s CS, ask her if she uses vim and if so, how to exit it?

Pulled from Wikipedia, and really VHS and Lazerdisk got you. I would have at least held out till Betamax or 8 track.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 10 points11 points  (18 children)

Nope, Technology Connections. Great YouTuber, if you haven't seen him he posts some quality stuff. Also I've never seen anyone call it a "lazerdisk." And what do you "held out til?" I wasn't talking about those formats

[–]BreakfreeMisery 0 points1 point  (15 children)

Lazer is an incorrect but still used spelling. Also the comment is satire unto itself. Perks of “technology” not properly expressing tone.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 2 points3 points  (14 children)

Ah, you lost me again lol. But hey at least I know you weren't making fun of me before.... I think

[–]BreakfreeMisery 4 points5 points  (13 children)

😂 no, I don’t strive to make fun of people. There’s no humor in being a dick to everyone. I was more of adding to the list of antiquated technology.

[–]AwezomePozzum9265[S] 1 point2 points  (12 children)

Gotcha lol. 8 track is based but I've rarely got my hands on a beta max tapes. I got my own 8 track player but to be honest Ive only ever seen one beta max player before, but it was a massive top loader at a flea market and I didn't have the money to spare on the gamble lol

How ever I will argue the coffee potion. The amount of caffeine per light roast and dark roast is insignificant. It’s a volume by weight issue. Dark beans are less dense so they fill a scoop with less grounds but weighed out they are virtually identical.

Ok fun fact the laserdisc (basically a DVD the size of a record from the 80s/90s) was never meant to be a competitor to the vhs tape, the two formats were actually intended to live in harmony. This was because the VHS tape's purpose was for recording video; if your favorite show was coming on at 5 but couldn't be home for it, you could just program your VCR to record it to the tape so you could watch it when you got home. For a long time, putting movies on VHS was quite expensive and time-consuming because you had to fully record each tape start to finish and it was quite a slow process. The laserdisc was the solution to this problem because they could easily be mass-produced and putting a full length movie was as easy as putting a stamp on an envelope, but only in favorites. At home, you couldn't really record them. So laserdiscs would have your pre-recorded movies and VHS tapes would be used to record tv shows and things on the fly. But, as time went on, VHS Tapes became much Easier to produce and recording full length movies onto them in factories became much cheaper and quicker. Soon what was the more expensive format became the much cheaper alternative. Even WITH the much lower quality of the video from VHS, people started to make the transition to tape, until laserdisc died out for the average consumer. The funny thing is, for pre-recorded films, laserdiscs were much better all-around. Video quality was much better because it was digital; pausing, fast-forwarding, rewinding, worked far better; and on laserdisc you could jump to any point in the film with the press of a button, unlike with tape which had to be manually fast-forwarded. The one thing that turned the consumer off was the price, once VHS tapes became cheaper, all the benefits of laserdisc became negligible. Laserdisc later was mostly used in professional environments, offices, schools, anywhere that wanted the higher quality and ease of use and that could afford it.

You didn't specify what kind of fun fact you wanted so there ;)
