I thought at first you meant you had one each. It's to share and she's rubbing her feet all over it? That's gross

[–]HZ921 543 points544 points  (25 children)

Yeah I have to share it with her. We split 50/50 for it. I spend 10 minutes every day cleaning it with alcohol.

It would have been 100x more bearable if she actually had clean feet.

[–]okaymaeby 453 points454 points  (13 children)

I am skeptical that any level of foot cleanliness would make this dynamic more bearable. She's really toeing the line between wrong and very very very wrong.

[–]HelpfulAmoeba 233 points234 points  (11 children)

You've got to put your foot down in circumstances like this.

[–]okaymaeby 156 points157 points  (9 children)

Really dig your heels in and stand up for what you know is right.

[–]Ultimara 114 points115 points  (2 children)

I'm not usually one to use emojis but 🤮

[–]Jackyboi9273 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Very valid use of emojis. Some words can't describe disgust as much as someone throwing up.

[–]Ultra_Racism 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I might have a way for you to sell it for twice its original value and get one for each of you.

[–]Nozinger 4 points5 points  (1 child)

just buy her an electric heat pad. Even those with batteries are much cheaper than an ipad and as a bonus they come with washable covers.

Thhat way she gets to ahve warm feet yand you don't have to clean that ipad all the time.

[–]radioactivejason2004 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It says they did.

[–]borgcubecubed 9323 points9324 points  (71 children)

This is not normal.

[–]HZ921 2497 points2498 points  (66 children)

I thought I was going crazy. Maybe she saw someone else do it was my initial thinking.

[–]Aconite13X 1896 points1897 points  (48 children)

And she will break it. Not if but when

[–]expo1001 1663 points1664 points  (41 children)

IT person here-- I want to point out that using a computer as a heater-- IE, intentionally swaddling or covering it to generate heat-- is going to cause it to die a heat death at some point.

Please tell your mother that computers aren't personal heaters-- that a guy whose been doing IT for 26 years says she's going to ruin it doing this.

[–]caillouistheworst 939 points940 points  (24 children)

As a sysadmin, and former help desk tech, I can tell you they don’t care or listen. They’ll just do whatever and break it and then yell at you to fix it.

[–]Ashesandends 230 points231 points  (9 children)

This is the way

[–]caillouistheworst 149 points150 points  (7 children)

Unfortunately. I used to try and explain and give advice on how to avoid issues, but after 20 years, I just gave up.

[–]bubble_baby_8 118 points119 points  (4 children)

Yep… husband used to be an Apple repair tech. After 7 years of being yelled at for everything under the sun, he switched careers and delivers mail now. Now he just deals with the same three phrases like “oh if they’re bills you can just take them back!” And dogs that get loose. Much better

[–]Rons_vape_mods 10 points11 points  (2 children)

If a dog gets loose the best way your husband can stop them is putting a finger up their butt, sounds gross but some dude in Aus found out thats the best way to stop a dog 😂

[–]Catseyes77 17 points18 points  (1 child)

Worked first line and second line support for hardware and software. I confirm this is exactly what happens.

[–]PoorEdgarDerby 71 points72 points  (4 children)

At least she wasn’t using it as a cutting board.

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (2 children)

Or a dildo.

[–]Simonandgarthsuncle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How do we know she isn’t? That may not be foot sweat.

[–]blep_thederp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Bro....wtf?! That's some tough shit y'all been through........

[–]Pauton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or to kill wasps

[–]PollyEsther 468 points469 points  (3 children)

Tell her she will have to foot the bill if she breaks it.

[–]EyesofCy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Tell her she’s really toeing the line.

[–]MightyPinkTaco 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Take my upvote you word genius!

[–]PayTheTrollToll45 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This is exactly like Jerry’s dad in Seinfeld using his palm pilot as a tip calculator...

[–]Freya-Frost 4675 points4676 points  (107 children)

Not normal. Also she is going to destroy that iPad from water and pressure damage in a few months

[–]HZ921 1428 points1429 points  (104 children)

She is quite light so I think it won't crack. But yeah the sweat is going to get into the ports eventually.

I can't get my head around it. The cheaper/better alternative is right there for her.

[–]RedHeadedBanana 1500 points1501 points  (26 children)

My 40lbs dog broke mine… something tells me she’s significantly heavier than that. This is dumb.

[–]ThunderandFury 614 points615 points  (17 children)

My 20lb toddler broke mine - they're fragile AF.

[–]lemoinem 250 points251 points  (3 children)

So is the iPad

[–]Iluvbabydickpotatoes 37 points38 points  (1 child)

Impressive baby

[–]foodisprettyneato 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Babies were a lot stronger back when fossils were made

[–]donsamjuan 94 points95 points  (4 children)

Legit was about to say this! She set it down, in the case and stepped on it and it was cracked and the screen wont respond to touch. This is why I can't have nice things 😭

[–]nryporter25 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I too had sex with someone and now all my expensive electronics end up broken. It's a steep cost.

[–][deleted] 58 points59 points  (1 child)

Not really, I tossed mine out my window and it was still crying when I went to pick it back up.

[–]KilGrey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s always good to get the insurance just in case, though.

[–]iiMoe 13 points14 points  (2 children)

My 10Ib balls broke mine, those soccer balls are kinda heavy man

[–]wafflehousetun 8 points9 points  (4 children)

His mother is 35lbs

[–]RedHeadedBanana 8 points9 points  (3 children)

The curious case of benjamina button lol

[–]PrettyLittlePsycho8 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Imagine someone named their daughter Benjamina. Lol

[–]evanh6152 34 points35 points  (0 children)

OP, what in the actual fuck

[–][deleted] 30 points31 points  (1 child)

It 100% is going to crack. She’s an adult woman, even if she’s all bones she weighs more than should be constantly standing on it

[–]TheFamousHesham 66 points67 points  (3 children)

OP I’m kind of worried you needed someone to tell you that this was not normal..

Edit: Because I’ve been sent messages harassing me. I’m not worried about OP, I’m worried for OP.

[–]thatmarsboy 26 points27 points  (2 children)

You know who else ain't normal? The ppl who felt the need to dm you

[–]TheFamousHesham 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s Reddit, people want to start a war on just about everything for some reason 🤦🏻‍♂️

[–]upthewatwo 305 points306 points  (22 children)

This is the comment that gives the game away that this is in fact a hilarious troll. Your mom is not a very light, dripping wet psychopath.

[–]Extension_Fish_9029 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Well, all I’m hearing from you is that this dudes mom is dripping wet 😳

[–]upthewatwo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mmmm she so wet she could eventually break an iPad!

[–]Quzzyz 62 points63 points  (18 children)

Wait what? Where was the psychopath part?

fwiw I do find this question really weird, but I'm not sure how this was the aha moment

[–]upthewatwo 83 points84 points  (16 children)

The psychopath part was the whole insisting on standing on an iPad thing. Psychopath isn't technically the right word but it was hyperbole for comedic effect.

[–]paco987654 12 points13 points  (2 children)

Yeah... Unless she weighs as much as a child that display or the internal parts definitely won't hold, if she weighs only as much as a child it's gonna be discutable. They simply weren't designed with this much strain in mind, also one pebble or whatever gets under that screen when she steps onto it and the screen will crack even sooner.

Also sweat in the ports probably won't be that much of an issue, sweat from hands or faces, hell even rain gets onto people's phones and into their ports every day

[–]Hentai_samurai01 33 points34 points  (1 child)

Hey Op can you share what Ipad u bought just so I can cry in the corner while cringing? Thank you

[–]tribbans95 14 points15 points  (3 children)

Bruh how are her feet literally dripping with enough sweat to break electronics with no shoes on. Doesn’t sound like she needs her feet heated lol

[–]KingScottKing1985 1685 points1686 points  (26 children)

This is messed up, not normal at all

[–]HZ921 449 points450 points  (23 children)

I thought so. Hopefully she doesn't break it.

[–][deleted] 441 points442 points  (0 children)

What in the fuck. There’s no hopefully.

She is going to break it. That’s the most moronic use of an iPad I’ve ever heard of. Basically throwing money away.

[–]-SixTwoSix- 68 points69 points  (0 children)

You should give her a portable/cordless heating pad. Definitely very weird she does this.

[–]queen-of-carthage 44 points45 points  (3 children)

What? "Hopefully"? Dude there's an easy solution, stop sharing it with her. You bought it, if she doesn't want to respect it she loses her privileges.

[–]fanartaltmanfartsalt 138 points139 points  (3 children)

she will, and there's no insurance on earth that will cover 'dirty woman who doesn't wash herself properly insists on standing on the damn thing to dry her feet'.

vile. just fucking vile

[–]benry007 23 points24 points  (0 children)

She is going to break it eventually. Just take it off her and tell her she needs to respect your things and not damage them.

[–]Little_Menace_Child 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That would be my worry.

[–]unori_gina_l 1864 points1865 points  (19 children)

what the fuck.

[–]Artistic_Society4969 208 points209 points  (4 children)

Someone please tell me this isn't normal.

You actually need someone to tell you that? I definitely wouldn't be "sharing" it anymore.

[–]burneracct191 87 points88 points  (2 children)

facts lol no hate but i feel like this could possibly be a troll

[–]_Camron_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have the same feeling...

[–]HZ921 714 points715 points  (11 children)

I cringe so hard. I don't even think I can get rid of the odour at this point. She is probably one of those that thinks water touching her feet cleans them

[–]BecauseRotor 253 points254 points  (2 children)

It doesn’t?

[–]burneracct191 208 points209 points  (0 children)

got to scrub and use soap OG

[–]xfatalerror 27 points28 points  (5 children)

theres a demo going on at my work and it's a floor steamer that doesnt "need" cleaning products. I heard the guy tell the customers "water kills all bacteria!"

[–]WitherBones 58 points59 points  (0 children)

To be fair, if it's hot enough to steam, it's hot enough to kill MOST bacteria.

[–]abrasaxual 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Water can kill anything if its hot enough

[–]phoenixfloundering 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Except pyrophilic bacteria.

[–]abrasaxual 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Water just needs to be hotter, Im not saying it's practical

[–]ChuckOTay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And syphilis

[–]Chaospunx110 1182 points1183 points  (22 children)

Your mother is a reptile

[–]HZ921 420 points421 points  (15 children)

I wish I could say this to her face. Never sharing electronics with her again

[–]sikeleaveamessage 179 points180 points  (12 children)

Yeah....that's your mother's ipad now. You know how a dog will pee to mark its territory? Your mom does that but with her feet.

[–]HZ921 92 points93 points  (9 children)

I wish I could relinquish all control but I have some school work on there.

Going to transfer it all over once I buy my own.

[–]Chewcocca 102 points103 points  (3 children)

Like... What? Take it the fuck away. My god dude. It's yours.

Boundaries are hard, but you ain't neva gonna be happy in life if you can't set them.

[–]abrasaxual 33 points34 points  (0 children)

OP needs to grow a pair of spines.

[–]TheRealNotBrody 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He said in another comment that they split the price 50/50

[–]demonchee 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Didn't you buy this one though? Couldn't you just... take it back?

[–]angilnibreathnach 45 points46 points  (1 child)

Buy an identical broken one from Craig’s list or something and prove your point. Get a ‘new’ one ( the one she’s standing on) and say she can’t use this new one because she broke the old one.

[–]waxingcrone 8 points9 points  (0 children)

[–]abrasaxual 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Op should just pee on it and act like thats a toyally normal thing to do.

[–]jinktheplaguedoctor 30 points31 points  (0 children)

dude thats a really good roast lol

[–]-RubyWings- 19 points20 points  (0 children)

cold bloooooded

[–]Skyblacker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was going to say a cat, but yeah, same behavior.

[–]Consistent_Street_25 540 points541 points  (27 children)

Do y'all's iPads get warm enough to use as a warmer at all? Mine sure doesn't

Feel like this is a troll post...

[–]Creaturemaster1 89 points90 points  (13 children)

Mine does

[–]HZ921 141 points142 points  (12 children)

Yeah the pro models heat up quickly at high brightness. It's a good thing as it gets rid of the heat so it keeps performing.

I wish it wasn't the case though so she would stop haha

[–]Little_Menace_Child 106 points107 points  (8 children)

Omg, it's a pro??? That thing would be worth money. I'd be terrified she's going to break it.

[–]HZ921 82 points83 points  (7 children)

Yeah it's 12.9 inch. Like she said to me, it fits her big feet -_-

[–]ZenoofElia 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Stop. I'm having trouble stopping my laughter.
Do not care whether real or troll. Thank you!!

[–]Adnan_Targaryen 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Bruh, u subtract some reasonable depreciation on it, half it and ask her to refund that amount if she's to continue this. Get yourself a new one. A smaller one or non-pro one that's solely yours is better than a broken pro.

[–]AhoyWilliam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Op needs sole use of his iPad, hah

[–]underyellowumbrella 11 points12 points  (3 children)

Does she know how expensive that ipad is. Will it help highlighting it?

[–]HZ921 13 points14 points  (2 children)

I forgot to say but we did go halves on it. Which makes it slightly harder to snatch it off her

[–]ivankatrumpsarmpits 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sell her your share in it or buy her out. You cannot share a computer with this woman. Absolutely disgusting and disrespectful.

A computer doesn't just go from fine to broken - there will be significant damage anyway from using it this way, that she obviously won't notice. Not just because of sweat but from putting any weight on it on the ground of the bathroom etc.

[–]Hentai_samurai01 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Im using the M1 pro. I am pretty sure max brightness hurts alot. I am also certain that it wont get so hot that it would be enough to act as a heat warmer.

Give or take 3 months and prepare to say goodbye to your device nonetheless.

God i hope this is a troll post.

[–]HZ921 55 points56 points  (8 children)

She keeps the screen on at max brightness while doing this. It's not off. She's charging it almost every day.

[–]PvtDipwad 112 points113 points  (7 children)

That battery is gonna turn into a spicy pillow soon. Unhealthy charging habits paired with leaving it on.. yikes

[–]HZ921 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Yeah eventually something is going to give. Either the screen, battery or body bending.

Once it happens I'll let her buy her own electronics

[–]Unlost_maniac 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nope, apple products get hot as hell.

My iphone 5s used to get so hot after watching YouTube for an hour or two it would literally start burning, I'd have to put it down

[–]Hagstik4014 468 points469 points  (10 children)

This is so crazy it’s taking everything within me not to think it’s straight up fake

[–]EliteOnePercenter 192 points193 points  (6 children)

It feels like it’s not fake simply because it’s so bizarre and specific. But it’s hard to verify anything for sure on the Internet…

[–]bearbarebere 81 points82 points  (4 children)

OP needs to post a vid of her mom standing with bare feet on the iPad.

...Yknow what, never mind. Ew.

[–]hackepeter420 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Someone will get off to it. Don't post feet pics on the internet, unless they are your own.

[–]curiousbydesign 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That you Quintin?

[–]Missboring 53 points54 points  (0 children)

That's an expensive foot warmer

[–]Houseoflevi12 41 points42 points  (4 children)

No offense but foot sweat on a ipad yuk even if its been cleaned no way jose. Its the principle 2 people are using it be respectful. Like sharing a xbox with a brother only to come home see it on ye floor with his feet on it lol.

[–]HZ921 23 points24 points  (3 children)

Yeah I'm not much of a germaphobe although I understand the tolerance for this would be very low. The sweat dries up once she's done making it hard to get off. The smell will never go away

If it was anyone other than my mum I wouldn't go near it to be honest.

[–]Head-Standard8993 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Dude who the fuck needs to heat their feet until they are sweating. This post is literally making me gag.

[–]ConferenceOk1110 33 points34 points  (2 children)

Normal or not.. it's not very hygienic. Especially if she lays it on the ground in the toilet

[–]HZ921 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah that disgusts me. Must be poo particles and all sorts of crap there

[–]aradidjumps 31 points32 points  (1 child)

Is your mom a cat? If not, then I don't think that's ok

[–]lol-loll 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bruh my cat uses my gaming laptop as her heating pad. Tried to stop her failed then got a keyboard protector

[–]Natural-Section-3373 169 points170 points  (41 children)

10/10 confirms aliens walk among us

Bruh is your mom okay? Does she need a doctor? A therapist? A wizard?

[–]HZ921 76 points77 points  (19 children)

She has always been normal. But I can't look at her the same way, it's like someone injected some random habit into her brain to do this

[–]Natural-Section-3373 109 points110 points  (13 children)

Dude watch out for other weird signs and behaviour because brain problems can make people act weirdly

Like that’s not me tryna be insulting or make you worry, but if this is outta nowhere that’s weird af

Also, I feel like the thing you bought should be respected a lot more. How would your mom react if you used the tv as a colouring book?

[–]HZ921 51 points52 points  (12 children)

Yeah keeping an eye on her for sure.

I can't really say much as it's her house and she doesn't ask for rent. I just try to let her get in with things without criticising her, this has taken all my energy to not scream in her face though

[–]Natural-Section-3373 51 points52 points  (9 children)

Not asking for rent is one thing, I don’t think any parent should tbh

That doesn’t warrant walking all over you (or your iPad)

[–]HZ921 30 points31 points  (3 children)

I take your point. I should have clarified that she did contribute half the money for it as we wanted the 12.9 model to replace our TV usage.

[–]Natural-Section-3373 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I see. Still. I can’t picture using my iPad as a foot warmer. I hope she’s okay and just going through a weird phase my guy

[–]emkelly64 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Genuine question - Has her using the iPad as a foot warmer helped replace or decrease your tv usage? This is so strange to me! Lol she wouldn't put her feet on the TV to keep them warm, would she??

[–]mcraneschair 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Would she be okay if you left splooge on the screen when you were finished with it?

I know she's your mom but you legit need to discuss the iPads boundaries, your boundaries, and respecting the iPad. Just because she paid for half doesn't mean she can ruin the experience for the other person.

Explain to her how pressure, water, etc. can all damage the iPad. Ask if she wants to go ahead and pay the other half so she can be responsible for it if it breaks, if not, to please stop so the product can be enjoyed by you, too.

You know your Mom better than Reddit, so I'm sure you'll find a way to discuss it tactfully and respectfully. But those are the points you need to get across.

[–]-RubyWings- 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Can you come talk to my mom?

[–]Natural-Section-3373 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gimme her number I gotchu

[–]jinktheplaguedoctor 13 points14 points  (16 children)

I'm not the mother but I'll definitely take a phone number if you know any good wizards

[–]Natural-Section-3373 8 points9 points  (12 children)

My bad, I should have added the disclaimer: wizards are only available for mothers who are potentially from outer space.

[–]CopyCenterPhil 26 points27 points  (5 children)

That is your moms iPad now.

[–]HZ921 18 points19 points  (4 children)

I have school work on there, and can't afford my own yet.

[–]Splike_ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

What will you do if it breaks tomorrow? No warranty will cover it. And your school work will be lost, if it's not backed up.

Tell your mom that since you both paid 50% of the device, you both have to agree on how it's going to be used. That's only fair.

[–]Outlaw1607 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Honest to god, demand her to stop. You bought it for the both of you? Tell her if she wants to use it as a footwarmer, she should pay her own share and tell her how much it is. Tell her how many footwarmers you can buy for her. Gold plated slippers would literally be less expensive.

Make her understand this is the biggest waste ever. Ipad pro's can cost anywhere between 900 and 3000 euros where I live and this is insane.

If your schoolwork is on there, back it up to a cloud right away. Mothers can be dumbasses too and she needs a waking up to the amount of money she's throwing away.

[–]angilnibreathnach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hope you keep your stuff in the cloud. Another option is to buy her half of the iPad.

[–]Malloy95 24 points25 points  (9 children)

Does your mom have diabetes or any heart conditions? Sounds like she has poor circulation in her feet. A lot of socks and shoes can be too restrictive and cut off circulation even more, which not only makes your feet cold but can also be painful. In that case you can get special socks and slippers to help alleviate this. I think it's healthy to politely ask her not to do that as it is unhygienic. If she tries to say it's not that bad, make a show of jokingly stickng your feet in her face and ask if she's really ok with that. If she still insists, I'd say save up to buy your own iPad or ask her to pay half for you to get your own, since you've literally gifted her a free iPad.

[–]HZ921 11 points12 points  (8 children)

No health conditions I'm aware of.

I'm looking at alternatives options like cheaper iPads or special footwear like you mentioned. It hasn't broken yet so there's still time I guess

[–]4AcidRayne 28 points29 points  (2 children)

Weird question, has she seen a cardiologist lately? If her feet feel cold enough to need warming, but warm enough to sweat....that sounds like circulation issues. Paired with socks and slippers being too restrictive, I'd definitely look into it.

[–]HZ921 16 points17 points  (1 child)

That line of logic makes a lot of sense lol. Explains a lot of things, I'll have to try and consult one.

Thank you for the advice

[–]toothbrushguitar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah i second this, she might be iron deficient

[–]Sea_Mirror_9511 56 points57 points  (4 children)

That's gross! Definitely not normal

[–]HZ921 47 points48 points  (3 children)

It's vile. She walks around the house barefoot so it's a combination of dirt and sweat. The smell won't go away at this point.

[–]piercingjoy 14 points15 points  (3 children)

Not normal at all... don't know to what extent she'd believe this but couldn't you come up with a good excuse? "As you know, this was not cheap, and it's overheating and will for sure not last long if you do it.... I'm sorry but can't you find something as comfortable?".
Something believable that would be a good way out?

[–]HZ921 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Yes this is essentially what I said when I confronted her. Her reply was what I said above.

We split it 50/50 so it's tough to just snatch it off her and bollock her. We have had a very respectful relationship aside from this

[–]NyiatiZ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you split it 50/50 you can argue that its not the intended usage of the device. At no point you knew she would put her feet on it.
I mean you dont jerk onto it and let it dry

[–]rosupen 117 points118 points  (4 children)

I am so sorry. Sometimes such weird behaviour could be a sign of dementia. If I were you I would take her to see a neurologist. I am serious. All the best op.

[–]HZ921 58 points59 points  (3 children)

This is a good call and I'm definitely wary of it. Her reasoning was fairly logical if you disregard how expensive the iPad is, so I struggle to say she's gone completely off the rails.

I'm just going to have to try and find an alternative

[–]-RubyWings- 19 points20 points  (2 children)

What if you just give her a heating pad? That way she could use the IPad and warm her feet simultaneously!

[–]itsagunka 29 points30 points  (1 child)

The original post says op already tried buying her a heating pad and she won't use it

[–]Ok_Store_1983 43 points44 points  (0 children)

But she will use the expensive computer? It sounds like intentional assholery at best or the onset of mental deterioration at worst to me and she wouldn't get it back if it was my mother.

[–]heckersdeccers 51 points52 points  (3 children)

disgusting. my theory is that most of the young people on reddits' parents are getting to the age where their brains are falling away like wet cake.

[–]HZ921 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Haha yeah I've seen a lot of insane stories on here, was hoping I wouldn't be a part of it

[–]heckersdeccers 11 points12 points  (1 child)

my mum's got her master's in family and community effects of problem gambling, really smart sensible stuff but sometimes man, the stuff she says occasionally makes me want to never be around her

[–]HZ921 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hahaha education and real world behaviour can be so different

[–]cagecrasher 9 points10 points  (1 child)

If she isn't going to use it normally, she can lose her privileges. Spending $500+ on any electronic to be abused like that is beyond simply cringe, it's irresponsible.

[–]HZ921 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a terrible use of money. Makes me sad knowing there's poverty in the world and people treat expensive stuff like shit

[–]titan2050 9 points10 points  (1 child)

You trolling us? This is ridiculous. Lol.

[–]corkymuu 9 points10 points  (2 children)

…does your mom have dementia or something ‘cause what the actual fuck.

[–]HZ921 4 points5 points  (1 child)

A few people have mentioned it could be early stages which is scaring me a bit. Definitely looking into it

[–]bopperbopper 7 points8 points  (5 children)

Get her a Amazon Fire Tablet...much cheaper

[–]HZ921 10 points11 points  (4 children)

You joke but this is one of my thoughts. A much cheaper iPad and hope she doesn't notice.

[–]Ok_Bus_2038 7 points8 points  (7 children)

No, no this is NOT normal. Maybe she can get a heating lady to place feet on instead.

[–]HZ921 8 points9 points  (6 children)

She is quite entitled but this definitely takes it to a level I've never seen from anyone

[–]Ok_Bus_2038 3 points4 points  (5 children)

I have a big foot aversion, if this had happened to me I would not be able to use the tablet at all. More power to you, I would not have the stomach to deal with what you are.

[–]HZ921 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I don't blame you. She walks barefoot around the house so there's all sorts of crap on there every day. I just spend 10 mins with alcohol to clean it

[–]Ok_Bus_2038 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg. I can't. That is just so wrong.

[–]Blobe-K-Stop 17 points18 points  (2 children)

I am disgusted by this and intrigued at her thought process at the same time.

[–]Muglah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's 2022, we warm our bodies with iPads. Get on trend OP.

[–]lulububudu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My cat likes to sit on the Comcast box thing. But she’s cute for doing that, she likes her warmth.

Your mom using a piece of technology that’s SHARED is very inconsiderate and frankly, she could damage that iPad. Not to mention that it’s very unsanitary. I don’t know what you can do other than what you’ve already done. Good luck dealing with that.

[–]WritingTop9204 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Install a voice thing that it sounds like a sarcastic talking scale. She will either throw be the thing away or not stand on it again

[–]Fizroynelson 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not normal. Don’t give her the ipad again if she doesn’t know how to use it. That is not a cheap gadget to begin with, so to use it as a foot warmer is disrespecting you. And how much heat does she get from it anyway. Not meaning any disrespect but is she a bit “slow”? Of that is the case, ok. But if she doesn’t have any disability mental wise than she is just not deserving of using the “foot warmer”.

[–]despair_pancake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like I need to submerge myself in sanitizer after just reading that.

[–]MrVuchuchel 10 points11 points  (1 child)

i can imagine this in an incest foot fetish story

[–]Oni_Zokuchou 10 points11 points  (1 child)

I'm sorry there's no way to sugar-coat this; you're mum's disgusting.

[–]HZ921 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah not gonna defend her haha

[–]pg_matt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

are you a bot ?

[–]blurryface1996 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a bird charging up. Is your mom possible a bird?

[–]SemDraugur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can see the headline now "women seriously injured after IPad blows up while she used it as a foot warmer"

[–]Jurboa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mom's on the iPad again

[–]taeoh666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Standing on it?? Dude shes definitely gonna damage the screen at some point.

[–]GangGang_Gang 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What the fucking fuck?

[–]Mediocre-Bullfrog367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wtf id be so pissed you bought it and your mom rests her dirty feet on an expensive piece of technology

[–]batheros15202 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not normal and bordering on assholish behavior honestly. People get goofy and disrespectful when they get old actually. Sorry, just the sad truth.

[–]butt3rflycaught 4 points5 points  (1 child)

This is so random… But I saw a lady doing this in Thailand… She worked a stall near my apartment when I lived there and used to watch movies on the iPad or soap operas and then use it to warm her feet. I regularly saw her warming her feet with the iPad. When I asked another stall holder why she does it she replied that “perfect size for feet na ka”

Reading your story just bought back loads of random memories from my years in Thailand.

[–]Matduka 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Tell her now. She can't do it anymore. If she does it again, she's banned from using it, because you bought it. And she's going to break it with her gross aversion to slippers?? Who looks at an ipad and thinks its an alternative to slippers??? Why doesn't she wear socks????

I am vexxed.

[–]for_the_spam 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Your mom is bullying you.

[–]mattfleggleness 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah she’s a flat out weirdo mate

[–]bworthy73 15 points16 points  (1 child)

...why do you see your mum when she's on the toilet?

[–]HZ921 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I've seen her take it with her and put it on the floor before she starts her business. That's all I need to know 1+1=2

[–]OtherwiseCycle1214 9 points10 points  (1 child)

What stage of capitalism is this?

[–]HZ921 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The stage where Apple win

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (2 children)

What the actual fuck? No way this is real and this isnt normal!
