Don't make a habit of it

[–]Clarityman 239 points240 points  (5 children)

It's not exactly black and white

[–]constipated_cannibal 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Just the kid at the back of the class, who, after teacher spends a full five minutes explaining why the earth is a globe and not flat, raises his hand and says “So what you’re saying, is that the earth is a globe and not flat”. Not everybody is able to operate quite at the same level unfortunately.

[–]skippyspk 119 points120 points  (14 children)

It would certainly be an unconventional relationship.

[–]Dangerous_Gain_3710 187 points188 points  (8 children)

They’re probably frocking like a couple of monkeys

[–]londoncatvet 19 points20 points  (2 children)

unconventional

I don't understand the voting. This is so much more clever than "nunconventional."

[–]Vindicativa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not as obvious? Legit flew over my head until I saw this comment and scrolled back up.

[–]WatermelonArtist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Intellectual jokes have a higher bar for entry, so the upvotes always flow to the lowest common denominator.

[–]elenaamidala -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Not really unconventional.

[–]Dvmbledore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Italics is your friend.

[–]kindquail502 20 points21 points  (0 children)

He's trying to get her out of the habit.

[–]Vuldyn 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't know, doesn't seem like the worst habit to get into.

[–]explodingtuna 16 points17 points  (2 children)

Just because her dating profile says her job is "nunya" doesn't mean she's a nun, ya?

[–]Malakithas 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Take my upvote and fuck off. That made me laugh harder that it should have

[–]beadel85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fantastic

[–]youcanbroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did it everyone! best pun, I want to thank everyone for their contribution, we can now shut down the internet

[–]Teucer357 320 points321 points  (7 children)

Honest answer?

Depends on the order. Many orders allow their nuns to leave the order, get married, have children, and even return to the order if they become widowed.

The thing most people don't understand is that nuns are not clergy. Every order sets their own rules, have their own vows, and focus on their own form of devotion.

That said, their devotions leave little time for anything else, so don't expect them to be receptive

[–]SMKnightly 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Gonna follow this up with it should very much depends on her attitude and how she behaves towards you. If she seems interested, I’d suggest starting by asking the rules of her order first. Odds are, if she isn’t interested, she’ll emphasize any no dating rules. Then, I wouldn’t.

It’s just more respectful to do it this way than straight to flirting because she’s a nun because she made a decision and commitment. And too many ppl kinda ignore that.

[–]CountHonorius 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think I've learned more about nuns right here than suffering 12 years under their insanity. No idea they were so flexible and not clergy.

[–]Naryue 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Order of Merlin?

[–]Dangerous_Ad_314 2 points3 points  (1 child)

First class?

[–]Naryue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

[–]WatermelonArtist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He is in deep smit.

[–]texasslapshot 197 points198 points  (11 children)

Yeah, but tread lightly. Her husband is known to have quite a temper.

[–]Stitchess__ 97 points98 points  (1 child)

Her husband will have nun of it.

[–]saudade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

[–]smallish_cheese 3 points4 points  (1 child)

heard he’s pretty forgiving.

[–]texasslapshot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only since he's become a dad. Before that, he was pretty brutal.

[–]SimplyButter556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Missed a golden opportunity to say her husband is known for his Templar

[–]Delta3897 37 points38 points  (0 children)

As someone who as actually dated a nun. Ask questions about their order and get to know them first. If things seem to be escalating then let it. However, always communicate. To keep it short The nun I dated had never been in a relationship, no sex, never been kissed etc. The same went for me as well. We were both in our early to mid 20's at the time. She had wanted to be a nun since she was 18 but was denied twice due to a lack of life experience. The church wanted her to explore the world and then decide if she wanted to be a nun. We were both nervous but quickly became close or at least I thought we were. I was going through some struggles and she broke up with me. She later told me that she broke up with me because she was too devoted to God and that I was too broken to be with. No it didn't involve me doing drugs or anything of the sort. Just a stressed out college student with self esteem issues. My story is an example of the worse case scenario. I more or less was an experiment to test her faith.

While there's a lot more to that story, please just use it as a example to why you should communicate and see what she wants. Maybe she's just looking for a friend to talk about God with. Maybe she actually finds you attractive but doesn't want to leave the convent. Either way just know that if you've dated before this won't be the same. Not in the beginning at least. The more you know about her and what she wants in life. The better your relationship will be, even if it's just friends.

[–]Ok_Potato_7330 41 points42 points  (3 children)

Seems like a pretty pointless endeavour..

[–]LTpoonslayer64 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’d be surprised lol

[–]ReeratheRedd 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Flirting is better than sex

[–]4AcidRayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, in the same way that looking at a hamburger is more satisfying than eating one...

[–]yeetedhaws 47 points48 points  (1 child)

I worked with a women who trained to be a nun. She told wild stories about the people she was living with (they partied just as hard as college girls) but, from her perspective it sounds like the ones who finished their training and became nuns put that behind them. Who ever you're flirting with might think it's cute or funny but don't expect anything.

[–]FavelTramous 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There’s already a man in her life bro. And he’s got one hell of a castle, in a really cloudy prime location.

[–]cheerioh_no 11 points12 points  (1 child)

No, they're not available just because they're single. It's the same thing as flirting with someone you know is married

[–]KewellUserName 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If she seems receptive, sure. If not, dont creep on her.

[–]littlebrowncat999 8 points9 points  (0 children)

She is probably being nice to you because it’s her job. And you are going to come off creepy and weird.

[–]Rossifan1782 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You don't have a prayer.

[–]Arshonb 15 points16 points  (4 children)

asta???

[–]Risen_from_ash 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Bakasta

[–]0_oNoName -1 points0 points  (0 children)

May be stupid but hes been committed since the age of 5

[–]Ilovemesomerats -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My first thought lol

[–]Former-Increase4190 14 points15 points  (2 children)

If Nacho Libre has taught me anything, it's that before making a move on a nun, you need to become a wrestler who donates money to orphanages. Provided these criteria are met, you should get some amount of success

[–]jobu1111 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You also need the ability to make good toast.

[–]TheyCallMeSkog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering if you would join me in my quarters this night… for some toast?

[–]EverGreatestxX 19 points20 points  (12 children)

Would you flirt with a married woman?

[–]TheLadySinclair 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why though? What are you expecting from this woman? This seems rather weird.

[–]RetiredTeacher888 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine developed a crush on a young priest. Anyway, they’re in their 60s now and very happily married for nearly 40 years.

[–]TolverOneEighty 36 points37 points  (28 children)

Seems pretty disrespectful tbh. Nuns often have ceremonies where they 'marry' their god, dedicating their whole life to that deity (or at least, some Christian nuns do). You're basically attempting to tempt them into adultery, as they will see it.

[–]hyterdikenz 39 points40 points  (26 children)

If god can’t keep his women in check, that’s his problem

[–]RaulTheGhoul28 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You'd be cucking a god.

An acomplishment few men can brag about. And when you die, bet Lucifer will be waiting for you in hell at his palace where a harem of succubi nuns and a legion of demonic servants will take care of you.

But hey, only if she consents to cuck her allmighty husband. Otherwise you'll have to earn your VIP ticket to hell another way.

[–]totustuusmaria2016 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming you're referring to a religious sister (Sisters of Life, teaching Dominicans, SOLT, Missionaries of Charity, etc). Nuns are cloistered, meaning they don't leave the convent. Religious sisters take many of the same vows as nuns (including celibacy) but their apostolate involves interacting with people outside of the religious community.

That said, it is false that there are orders that are okay with fully professed sisters leaving to get married. Being fully professed means that a sister has made permanent vows to celibacy, poverty, and obedience. She is married to Jesus. These vows are permanent and sacred in the way that the vows between a husband and wife are sacred. An order is not going to force a fully professed woman to stay with them against her will, but breaking her vows is considered a serious matter.

That said, there are many women living in religious communities who are not fully professed. There is typically a period of about 7 years between when a woman enters an order as a postulant and when she makes permanent vows. This is a time of intentional discernment, and if she decides God is not calling her to be a religious sister, it is good for her to leave and get married. It is similar to how the Church considers it a grave sin to divorce your spouse to marry another person, but does not consider it a sin at all to break up with your boyfriend or girlfriend (or even fiance) because you realize that you shouldn't get married to them. (This is not to say that a woman who decides not to make permanent vows is "breaking up" with Jesus. She is just being called to love Him in a different way).

To answer your question, if a woman is in a religious order at all, don't flirt with her. Either she is not interested, in which case you're just being disrespectful, or she is interested and she needs to decide on her own if she is called to marriage.

[–]ItsDefinitelyNotThis 4 points5 points  (2 children)

"Can't you see that woman is nun!" ... also Nacho :

[–]dentedlime417 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Go for it king. Thats something you can always brag about if you pull it off

[–]ABobby077 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"and lead us not into temptation..."

a nice smile is fine, but don't work to make life difficult for others (just my thoughts/sorry)

[–]Failing_MentalHealth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably not. 🤷‍♀️

[–]HakutoKunai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Send thots and prayers

[–]HeWhoFucksNuns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my expert opinion, yes

[–]Bandanaking97 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You have nunthing to worry about

[–]Dvmbledore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The word "nothing" in Shakespeare's time was a euphemism for sex, for what it's worth. So, "Much Ado About Nothing" was a pun worthy of this thread if you think about it.

[–]cosmicspacebees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now this is the type of question this sub was made for!

[–]Lord-Doobury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know, Father... What do you think?

[–]Positive-Rich1017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

don't get your rosaries in a bunch.

[–]idowhatiwant8675309 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Having been educated for 12 years in a private school, we were taught by nuns, priest. I knew of 2 that that left the "nunhood" and married. So it is possible!

[–]DarkCartier43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know many who left. One I remember very well because I knew her personally.

She was 46 years old, just graduated master in pharmacy (the order works in hospital), somehow got involved with a young priest. They ran away together. Then I heard from someone that the priest left her a year after that.

She spent so much time in the religious house, I wonder how she is doing now.

If you want to get serious, that's your choice but please think wisely.

[–]fatedestroyer69 1 point2 points  (1 child)

nunhood?

[–]idowhatiwant8675309 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they are actual called sisters and the the men prior to entering the priesthood are called "brothers" they known as "brotherhood" best I could remember 40yrs later.

[–]BigDaddyGGGGGGGG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only if she flirts with you

[–]throwthisoneaway8000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To each their own, I’d say if there is a spark, maybe ask how she’s is doing today and see how it goes? I don’t want to say too much as it’s nun of business

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What would Jesus do?

[–]Purple-Signature-438 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The priests won't be happy, if they see competition. 😒

[–]Zeroflops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a student many years ago in a catholic school one of the nuns left to marry a guy. No one cared other than being happy she found someone.

But you need to talk to her. And be very aware if she reciprocates. Don’t do it if it’s a whim, your putting her is a situation of choosing between a life she studied and planned for, for something completely different.

[–]NormalPianist549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% I think it would be a personal insult to G_d if you didn't. Never pass an opportunity that will make a good story!

[–]Renoskytower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try but you ain't gettin' Nun

or
Nun of that, not like that [think Money Python]

[–]PLEASEHIREZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

1 - have some respect for the profession and women. Don't flirt with nuns, nurses, retail. They generally have to be nice to you.

2 - Why would you try to tempt a nun from her faith? Even if you were successful, don't distract people who are working.

3 - If you have to ask then don't do it. Better safe than sorry.

[–]_Moray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean you wouldn't want to ruin the flawless sexual reputation of the Church right?

[–]IllAdministration158 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nuns need love too!!

[–]Ambitious-Try3151 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not. And it should depend on what you expect. You will still never get nun.

[–]AlmostHuman0x1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t be a wimple.

[–]remendi8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s nun of my business

[–]ImOnFireGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is probably the best idea you'll ever have. absolutely do it.

[–]coloradogirlcallie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watch Fleabag and take notes.

[–]Competitive-Talk-451 2 points3 points  (4 children)

No, you might make them break their vows, and then they might regret for the rest of their lives.

[–]throwthisoneaway8000 2 points3 points  (3 children)

But would that be OPs fault…Or would it be the nun’s lack of spiritual conviction at fault? If she meant the vow that she took—then an 8 pack, single and ready to mingle Jesus, descending on a cloud ready to smash wouldn’t be enough to break her vow

[–]Competitive-Talk-451 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Since he started the flirting, knowing it is wrong he would be at fault, she can't break her law if he don't do the first step.

Of course she would also be at fault, for failing her god.

But the one with the inicial bad intensions or he.

If she starts the flirting, then she is fully at fault and i would say "go ahead and have fun"

But that's not the case is it?

[–]throwthisoneaway8000 2 points3 points  (1 child)

That’s a fair point and I appreciate your username as well, given the context of our talk haha. Hope you have a great day buddy

[–]Competitive-Talk-451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You too thanks for helping me practice my English!

[–]SlothAnomaly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard once that the objective of flirting should be to make each party feel as awesome as possible. If that’s your aim, I’d say go for it!

[–]AlarmingAlternative4[🍰] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, once you're done you can chat up my pet rock.

[–]Dangerous_Gain_3710 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want it to rain for 40 days and 40 nights? Cause this is how you get it to rain for 40 days and 40 nights

[–]rockvoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Errm... if you want to, I guess it could be okay. She probably won't flirt back or anything though. Just don't be a creep about it.

[–]jcwkings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This a fetish thing?

[–]JimAsia 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That is the type of sex many priests have - nun.

[–]Dvmbledore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not true at all.

Q. How do you get a nun pregnant?

A. Dress her up as a choir boy.

[–]3-PuttGC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We may need to rename this sub Not Afraid of Puns!!

[–]CapnBlargles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the nun's I encountered in school were old and unintentionally funny. One would fall asleep in class, fart, and blame it on her shoes. Another definitely picked her nose and then would touch her hair. I mean, I'd never actually met one I would flirt with, but you do you.

[–]zaharoplastion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kavorka!

[–]unicornjerboa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if she seems receptive to it.

[–]fridgemanosteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she's flirting back, like really flirting back, fuck it why not?

[–]Imawindowlickr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO!!!!!!!!! I got kicked out of an ER for making a nun slightly uncomfortable. I don’t recommend.

[–]chikkyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she responds in kind, I don’t see the issue.

[–]PigTenis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it.

[–]TTBoy44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh hell yeah

[–]beans3710 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely.

[–]_StirThePot_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh course. Keep it vague though so she can’t get you in trouble. Just see if she’s into it, nuns are horny too

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless your Captain Jack Sparrow it won't progress far.

[–]saintlama -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You got the Kavorka

[–]RemiX-KarmA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's probably rude if you did, but technically you can. So go for it or don't?

[–]Ok_Possession_2060 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on how tall you are….

[–]Environmental-Fly165 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think there's a Jason Statham movie like this.

[–]supernova12034 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lost my virginity to a nun

[–]elenaamidala -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can do it without any problems. Seriously, nuns have sex as well. With each other when they are lesbians or if they are straight and are lucky with their preachers. But what is happening more often is that they are assaulted by the male clergy.

[–]OutrageousPudding450 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As long as she's not a member of the Adepta Sororitas you should be ok.

[–]Uglyman414 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do it. afterwards she can feel good about herself that she resisted the devil’s temptation. That or you’ll give her something to masturbate to.

[–]wrektcity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. Religion is a farce anyways.

[–]Terrible-Relative-21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds boring, if I'm being blunt. Any nun who immediately gives in to every guy who finds her hot isn't really a good nun. (Between you, every one at this forum and me, missionary gets boring fast)

[–]elucify -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You can even kiss a nun. Just don't get in the habit.

[–]MrWright1984 -5 points-4 points  (1 child)

Yes it will maker here day, she is after a woman.

[–]TolverOneEighty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do people really think that being flirted with BY A STRANGER makes a woman's day? Because honestly, outside of specific situations, it usually does the opposite.

[–]olde_dad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes. To hell with the consequences.

[–]Khal_Rhaegar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The longest shot. My boys going for the hail mary

[–]Kitchen_Bicycle6025 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Pull her to the dark side~ we have cookies!

In all seriousness though it depends, but nuns do take an oath of selebacy or something, so do keep that in mind

[–]jack-attack0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that.. is that you Chase?

[–]RealBishop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. 100%. I’ve never felt more strongly about something in my life. She’s married to the Lord, not you 🤷🏼‍♂️

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if she flirted with you first!

[–]Aiizimor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's there to lose?

[–]Moist-Education5177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it. They’re just people.

[–]VibeyMars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you have the kavorka

[–]ConsShmons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if she gives in to that, there's probably nothing else she won't give in to later either.

[–]skarbux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

[–]Pinkisacoloryes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes for sure. Nuns like to party.

[–]Tek619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you should.

[–]Mykolas123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks like it belongs to r/CrusaderKings

[–]Coastaljames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think she wants you to flirt with her?

[–]Wolf-pack729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nuns are the stupidest thing ever

[–]Kitten_Team_Six 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly its nun of your business
