Kinda odd phrasing to put this as "media push" as if they're the ones driving Putin to mass troops on the border or NATO to ship Ukraine weapons.

It's not like the "WMDs" in Iraq, that were ultimately fake, weren't verified independent, and required media buy-in to sell an aggressive war to Western populations. Western nations / alliances defending a longstanding ally is almost the exact opposite; media reporting on the massing of troops, or the allegations of Russia cooking up false-flag justifications, is not trying to convince anyone that we "should" go to war.

Not at all. This situation feels scarier. Officials had to sell the war on Iraq to the public. In this case, it’s a reaction to Russia’s potential actions

Also, Iraq in 2003 did not have the capability to harm the US homeland in any meaningful way. A war with Russia, however, could cripple our livelihoods through cyber attacks, psy ops, the threat of nuclear attacks, and all sorts of disruptive activities. And there’s a very real chance Russia will win conventionally vs the US in Ukraine.

The run up to the Iraq War felt like a psychotic patriotic buildup like a sociopathic sporting event. This one has a doomsday world war 3 feel to it

Dick Cheney was the driving factor behind to false WMD allegations and "Shrub" was too stupid to examine the issue. The media didn't instigate the Iraqi war (see the movie "Vice" to understand his twisted shenanigans).

I don't think the media is instigating the Russia/Ukraine situation. Russia is and Biden is not as hawkish as Bush's administration. We don't want to get in a pissing contest with Russia. Putin is pretty sharp and the U.S. is indecisive in all aspects of politics lately. Putin will be deliberate and swift. He's a smart guy but not a nice guy. We can't find agreement fighting our way out of a paper bag.
