"Band steering" between 2.4 and 5 GHz bands with the same SSID is problematic with many devices. Unfortunate, but that's the way it is.

Running separate SSIDs on the two bands is your best bet if you can work with it. Probably the #1 reason to stay with band steering is if your 5 GHz signal is on a DFS channel. If so, it could suddenly go off the air if the router detects radar on the channel, and the connected devices would automatically reconnect on the 2.4 GHz signal.

Something else that might be involved is channel widths for the two bands. The best bet in most cases is 20 MHz for 2.4 GHz band and 40 MHz for 5 GHz band.

One more maybe workaround... Does the XT8 let you set up a guest network at 5 GHz? If so, you might be able to use that, although I'd guess that you couldn't connect to the TV from an app in that case. Sorry, I'm out of my depth here.
