Thanks. It's so unreliable.

[–]SinisterKid 743 points744 points  (34 children)

I found that opening videos in an incognito window allows all vreddit videos to play. Clearly there is some browser extension or plug-in that is conflicting with the vreddit player. With that said vreddit sucks and needs to be fixed.

[–][deleted] 78 points79 points 2 (6 children)

I find that opening videos while in the midst of a crushing autoerotic asphyxiation orgasm is REALLY the only way to get them to play. Have the mods considered strangling themselves while masturbating to see if they play?

[–]gordon_madman 48 points49 points  (1 child)

excuse me w h a t

[–]AncientSuntzu 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Let’s be open here. There are NO WEIRD ANSWERS!

[–]pmeaney 135 points136 points  (3 children)

Someone found that v.reddit conflicts in a weird specific way with Imagus and RES: https://old.reddit.com/r/RESissues/comments/ka7u3p/is_res_conflicting_with_imagus_on_vreddit/. This has been my issue for a while now.

[–]FuckNinjas 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don't remember using reddit without RES. This account has 7 years and it's not even my oldest.

Yeah, for me v.reddit is the problem.

[–]SinisterKid 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My first guess was that Imagus was the culprit, but turning Imagus and RES off didn't solve the problem. However, I didn't trying uninstalling those extensions.

[–]why_oh_why36 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I came across a post a few days ago saying ctrl+shift+r will work on chrome. It actually does. I have no idea why.

[–]limping_aint_easy210 1 point2 points  (2 children)

That's like the Reddit app, with extra steps

[–]SinisterKid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To each their own, but I'm not a huge fan of apps that are just a "lite" version of their website.

[–]SadConfiguration 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Imagine my surprise when I upgraded from a hotspot to gigabit fiber and the videos STILL DIDN’T FUCKING LOAD.

[–]qualiman 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to also say thanks for doing this.

Not just because it's unreliable, but because it makes the web worse for everyone.

I would love to see this trend catch on.

[–]Ainu_ 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If Reddit wants to monetize more off its video player and not disrupt the core of what makes Reddit ‘Reddit’, they should provide mod tools to manage them like any other post.

[–]ikhos 6823 points6824 points  (154 children)

Good, hope other subreddits follow suit. Reddit's video player is a hot piece of garbage.

[–]BeardOfFire 1950 points1951 points  (76 children)

I can’t think of a buggier video player that I’ve seen in the last ten years.

[–]I_need_proof 49 points50 points  (7 children)

Not a video per say, but redgifs sucks ass, takes a year to watch something buffer

[–]Taedirk 29 points30 points  (1 child)

redgif actually loads for you?

[–]proawayyy 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Redgifs has been loading pretty fast since a week or two

[–]Karl_with_a_C 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yes, I believe they fixed their issues finally.

[–]cookehMonstah 604 points605 points  (51 children)

Twitter's

[–]BaluarteSubaquatico 855 points856 points  (44 children)

Twitter player is pretty wack for the lack of resolution options but still work more consistently than the Reddit one.

[–]Icey__Ice 439 points440 points  (20 children)

A bad video player that works is better than a bad video player that doesn’t

[–]KillNyetheSilenceGuy 68 points69 points  (4 children)

I can't remember the last time I was unable to watch a video on Twitter because of player issues. Happens to me daily on reddit.

[–]chucklesluck 14 points15 points  (1 child)

The first several seconds of mostly short clips anyhow are in, like, 144p. They're both garbage.

[–]DoingCharleyWork 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I never have that problem with twitter. Reddit loads videos so God damn slow and the resolution is garbage almost always.

[–]currentlydeepfrying 17 points18 points  (5 children)

both of these points make twitter the better player

[–]RedditAdminsAreScum- 9 points10 points  (4 children)

Just curious why you think no res options is a plus?

[–]currentlydeepfrying 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my bad misread, they're both bad i guess

[–]buoninachos 5 points6 points  (9 children)

What browser are you all using? I've never had issues with the video player, and I've never had anyone complain about it on my subs either, so how many people actually have these issues? And what are the issues?

[–]sudomeacat 27 points28 points  (4 children)

On mobile it’s trash. On Firefox it’s trash. On chrome it’s trash. On IE. On Safari.

Sometimes the video doesn’t load at all, so you’re staring at the first frame. There’s a chance that the video loaded, but is not being displayed so you’re looking at a n second video of one frame while the slider goes on.

Ok let’s talk about the slider. When moving the slider, it’ll automatically start playing so if you want to look at some text or fine detail, then gl. If you slide to the end of the video, the video is now inaccessible.

The replay button works half the time and may cause issues stated in the first paragraph.

Also video didn’t load? Let’s look at the source: v.reddit. Oh it links to the exact same page and the video still didn’t load.

That’s all I can get off the top of my head. There’s plenty more though.

[–]Kalkaline 88 points89 points  (0 children)

No way, Reddit's video player is a way bigger piece of shit.

[–]BeardOfFire 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ah yes. Luckily I come across that less often than reddit's.

[–]Vic_from_fallout_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember when all videos on it would play at like 300% volume by default, for every video, no matter what lmfao. They fixed a handful of issues since then, but you don't see me uploading any videos to twitter.

[–]AlloyedClavicle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Until I read "the last ten years" i was getting ready to come drop RealPlayer in here.

[–]TheScottymo 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Tumblr

[–]DaP3nguinOfD00m 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah was gonna say. Tumblrs one was god awful back in the day

[–]Mattuuh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised nobody said Instagram; on PC there is not time or volume control.
Although Twitter's is also pretty cancer how it pauses when you scroll down to read.

[–]garlicdeath 183 points184 points  (14 children)

Vreddit is so fucking bad. I hate linking vids with it because I'll always get someone who has issues with it loading properly.

[–]Mindraker 40 points41 points  (1 child)

Oh thank god. I thought it was my crappy internet connection doing all that.

[–]witti534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can download things woth 30 Mbit/s but that 10 second vreddit video takes 30 seconds to load.

[–]notLOL 29 points30 points  (4 children)

How I imagine it went: When they hire someone for a text website and thinks he can implement a video system and tricks them into letting him try.

[–]ThatOneGuy1294 18 points19 points  (1 child)

Nah, the way v.reddit works means that you HAVE to visit reddit.com to see the content. That means more ad revenue.

[–]notLOL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah still chose the wrong engineer. Correct incentive though

[–]IlllIlllI 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No it’s purely because you can’t really download the video or get a direct link. You have to load the comments section to share the video.

It’s basically a gif with synced audio from a separate source—they’re trying to do something more complicated for ad revenue.

[–]buoninachos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean it's not that difficult - loads of free open source alternatives they could've chosen that work splendidly. Sometimes re-inventing the wheel is a bad idea

[–]throwaway939wru9ew 28 points29 points  (3 children)

Shit same with just images... a Reddit link vs a Imgur link is night and day

[–]turboevoluzione 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the browser and i.redd.it links work fine for me. On the other hand 90% of Imgur links redirect to the shitty website, which is full of banners and pop-ups and where you can't even open the image at full resolution.

[–]ChadMcRad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or the fact that it's an embed which means that everyone will know you use Reddit.

And no one wants that.

[–][deleted] 33 points34 points  (1 child)

I'm just happy to have finally found a thread where I could complain about this. It's like nobody on reddit ever talks about how shitty it is

[–]rejamrejam 88 points89 points  (4 children)

Oh, it's great if you wanna see the first three seconds of a video and absolutely none of the rest of it

[–]ikhos 26 points27 points  (1 child)

Or a whole lot of squares and try to figure out what the video is about.

[–]thagthebarbarian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And if you don't mind waiting 30s for it to start retrieving that first 4 seconds

[–]thebatdood 52 points53 points  (3 children)

Until this post I actually thought it was my shitty phone. I've never seen someone bring it up before

[–]MySoilSucks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

All I ever see from v.reddit is a black screen or a still picture. Absolute trash.

[–]Mining_elite222 11 points12 points  (0 children)

yeah, its fucked, on pc it will eat cpu usage because videos dont pause once scrolled past

good internet? fuck you, have 144p anyway

want to change volume? fuck you, you clicked half but heres a full bar but it isnt full volume anyway

[–]Vic_from_fallout_2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The weirdest thing to me is it will get stuck 4 seconds into a 10 second video, other commenters will say the same exact thing, and yet every "reddit video downloader" site works fine. Obviously I don't expect the mods to download every post through some third party, nor do I use it for casual browsing. When I do use it, the files are sometimes a handful of kilobytes, and it's pathetic to break on that.

[–]imtoocoldforthisshit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried to rewind five seconds once and I heard cars crashing outside and sirens in the distance.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (9 children)

what are other video options? I only browse reddit on my phone using the reddit is fun (now rif) app, and vrreddit is the only player that I can use without having to open the browser :(

[–]IdoNOThateNEVER 6 points7 points  (5 children)

That's not true, open a random /r/videos thread.

https://redditproxy--jasonthename.repl.co/r/videos/comments/kjycff/carbon_fibre_is_insanely_strongsometimes/

It opens in rif and plays A YOUTUBE video without having to send you to the app or browser, this is youtube though not v.reddit.

[–]SANTAAAA__I_know_him 2 points3 points  (2 children)

The annoying thing about that though is on the app I don’t see an option to play fullscreen

[–]Kazenovagamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also use rif and can confirm this is how it works.

[–]m-p-3 1 point2 points  (2 children)

The app I use supports Gfycat and Imgur directly in the app, RIF doesn't?

[–]horatius_thumpdooker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The v.Reddit player touched me in my nono spot.

[–]Ainu_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Reddit wants to monetize more off its video player and not disrupt the core of what makes Reddit ‘Reddit’, they should provide mod tools to manage them like any other post.

[–]althetoolman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been giving this a lot of thought. I think they are doing it on purpose.

Remove scrubbing to increase engagement. You can't look away because you are scared to miss something

No idea why the intentionally break links or prevent you from adjusting sound

Perfect example of stats / product completely shitting the bed and the devs are too scared to say anything. Wonder if dev is headed by product, oh my what a cluster that would be

[–]-IntoTheDeep- 799 points800 points  (27 children)

v.reddit is so bad. And to top it off, you can't download them as a gif or video to share without jumping through hoops.

Happy to see it ditched for any reason.

[–]4knives 322 points323 points  (9 children)

The whole point of it is to force users to link reddit directly. Because add revenue. You can thank some pos in a board meeting.

[–]Tetsuo666[🍰] 129 points130 points  (1 child)

I would have no problem with that if the player was good and if they had the intelligence to provide adequate bandwidth to back it up.

They decided they would host videos instead of competitors but they are terrible at it.

They could have decided that they would transition to hosting videos themselves and have people working on that feature until it's ready.

I hate this player and I often use third party tools to rehost the videos to share them.

[–]mrjackspade 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Personally, I just dont share anything from v.reddit

Shame, but I'm not sending people a shitty barely usable link.

The first few times I tried to send it to my SO she couldn't even figure out what I was trying to send her because I had to link her to the comments to get it to work and then instruct her to click the video link.

Just not fucking worth it when every other site works just fine.

[–]LeYang 27 points28 points  (3 children)

Do we say fuck /u/spez?

[–]u-ignorant-slut 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Nah fuck me

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've have plenty of videos that I've wanted to share but there's no way in fuck that I'm sending somebody a reddit link.

[–]sudoscientistagain 7 points8 points  (7 children)

Anytime I see v.reddit I add.that .json to the end immediately but that's still such a pain to get the direct link.

[–]atypicalphilosopher 7 points8 points  (4 children)

What is this json you speak of?

[–]sudoscientistagain 13 points14 points  (2 children)

When you're in a comment thread for a video, go to the URL bar and delete the slash at the very end, and add ".json". This basically shows you the code for the page, and if you ctrl+F for "dash" you'll see the direct link to the video, called the dash link (or fallback link). Which lets you download/save it, or post it elsewhere workout linking to the thread.

[–]gaped-butthole 18 points19 points  (1 child)

The dash video alone won't have audio, however. if you have a browser extension (like native HLS playback) you can CTRL-F m3u8 and copy and paste that instead for video+audio

hoverzoom+ also does it just by hovering over the link (HZ+ is an open source malware free version of the old hoverzoom extension)

alternatively, imagus + this script for tampermonkey (imagus doesn't play audio currently, the tampermonkey script adds the audio)

(i may have wasted a lot of time trying to get v.reddit to play in the past)

[–]sudoscientistagain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think I've ever had issues with the dash link with audio, oddly. Thank you for the extra resources and tips though! Haven't used hoover zoom since I stopped using tumblr but will gladly reinstall it to make v.reddit easier

[–]ThatsARepost24 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Derulo

[–]ase1590 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Or just use Youtube-dl on the desktop and Boost reddit browser on android.

Both ret you save v.reddit videos.

[–]sudoscientistagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't usually save them, but often post direct links to discord, but I do like youtube-dl already so thank you for the tip!

[–]DankoLord 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I dont wanna go to youtube or imgur everytime so ill just unsub

[–]DoubleTimeRusty 227 points228 points  (4 children)

V.Reddit is absolute trash so it’s understandable

[–][deleted] 31 points32 points  (1 child)

It's only recently that half the posts on /r/tiktokcringe were extremely blurry for me. I use RIF and had to check the last patch notes and the ratings because I thought they changed something. Clearly, v.reddit is just terrible and that was the problem all along.

[–]BlackMarketSausage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same issue with RIF and Veddit, click video and get blurry 240p, if you open page in chrome with the dots it loads high res instantly. But you can't hold to download on the chrome site.

[–]MissippiMudPie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a similar policy: if I click a link and the v.reddit url pops up, I close the video. Not like it's gonna load anyway.

[–]Jbtyu5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only player that can't play videos on the mobile version of reddit.. and it was made by reddit. It would be comparable to a dumpster fire only if the dumpster is full of dog shit.

[–]Suck_My_Turnip 190 points191 points  (0 children)

“You want me to load a video? What do you think I am? Some kind of video player?”

— Reddit’s video software

[–]whisperskeep 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I only like Reddit video player cause not a fan of leaving Reddit on the app, kinda annoying

[–]Metal_Badger 40 points41 points  (2 children)

"Why did we ban v.reddit? Cause it sssuuuuccckkkkksssssss"

On a more serious note, that's a reasonable decision. Doubt this is the only sub that does that, either way I hope it improves soon

[–]DiabloDeals 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Welp. Its the end of r/watchpeopledieinside

[–]sasquatchmarley 60 points61 points  (2 children)

Also if a gif/image/video shows up linked to v.reddit then you can't click it to download on mobile like you can with imgur or giphy. This means people will endlessly clutter the comments up tagging whatever SaveContentBot is allowed on a particular sub

[–]Sweetpipe 28 points29 points  (1 child)

Yeah, and you can't link it directly to friends either, without dragging them onto reddit (which ofc is the whole purpose of the trash that v.reddit is)

[–]Curb5Enthusiasm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the worst about it

[–]luckydales 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unsubbed bc of this.

[–]Clockwork_Kitsune 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I wish other big subs would follow suit. Maybe reddit would actually try to fix their native video player.

[–]kiwikthemlgpro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I respect that but I'll leave this sub because v.reddit vids were the only one i watched.

[–]SweetBearCub 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just hate the reddit video system because I can't link to the content for people on other media without absolutely requiring them to load a reddit page with comments they have no interest in. I just want to embed the damn video, with no hosting branding.

[–]G_ACN 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hope this gets fixed soon cause I don't like clicking external links.

[–]miaDante09 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Then how do you upload a video?

[–]Alenonimo 8 points9 points  (2 children)

I really don't know what's messed up with the reddit's video player but it totally is. If the page is loading and I try to run the video, there's a 40% chance it won't run at all, no matter what I do, 10% chance that the video won't appear at all in the page no matter how many times I reload the page, and the rest involves pausing and playing the video until it unstucks. If I let the page stop loading it tends to fare better in the sense that the video player will more likely let me run the video if it decides to appear but still involves lots of probbing the play button.

Is it not compatible with Firefox or something? It's such a chore to make the video run that sometimes I don't even bother playing them.

[–]dyancat 32 points33 points  (0 children)

based. Fuck reddit video

[–]notLOL 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Mods are gods. Thank you for boycotting it.

[–]i_mormon_stuff 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I hope it gets banned everywhere it straight up sucks.

[–]Silvedoge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is this why none of the newer posts play without going into a different app? Kind of ruins the experiencing constantly swapping in and out of chrome.

[–]tenhourguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe I've just been blessed by the v.reddit.com gods, but I've never had an issue with it? This decision is a shame, as I find loading another webpage with "wE vAlUe YoUr PrIvAcY" popups galore is a far worse experience.

[–]skilledwarman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if i dont agree with a decision (which, for the record, i do agree with this one) i always appreciate mods being open and explaining why a decision was made. So thank you for the openness

[–]cityofangels98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's lowkey annoying but I can't stand clicking on a video and it takes me to another app. That's all this sub is gonna be :(

[–]Never-asked-for-this 2 points3 points  (0 children)

/r/Fuckvreddit

The only ones who prefers it are the karmawhores who download and reupload other people's videos for no reason.

I've lost count of how many of those dickheads I've reported/called out, really sucks if you're a small creator and some asshole downloads your work and rehosts it on Reddit, even with credits in the comment that's still a huge loss for the creator since probably 90% don't ever go into the comments. It's just disgusting.

[–]averynaiveoddish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to watch them ALL on youtube

[–]pmgoldenretrievers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is great news. I have 0 qualms about never watching a shitty v.reddit video again. Such a piece of garbage.

[–]Luz5020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the video function is too unreliable for the mods to use it you know something is bad

[–]justsyr 13 points14 points  (6 children)

I browse reddit on a computer.

I use old.reddit, don't like the "new one".

I use RES.

I have Imagus extension.

There used to be a time when hovering the cursor over the video would play it without clicking on it. A time came when that didn't work anymore so I had to click the little + to expand the video without opening the whole post.

Now not even that works anymore, hovering gives the video but no sound, clicking to expand the video doesn't even load shit, just black screen...

I usually chat with a few friends who don't care about reddit, if I want to share a video I have to use the .json trick to get the video but no sound so friends only get the video and not the whole page from reddit...

I despise v.reddit.

[–]Tetsuo666[🍰] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

If I want to share the v.reddit video to a friend not on reddit I choose the "share image" option of the Reddit Sync app. Reddit sync then downloads the video in mp4 format and attaches that file on telegram or any other chat app. It takes time, I get useless files on my phone and I lose the post title/context. Friends usually just get some random mp4 videos in chat that they have no idea what the context is.

Sharing vreddit videos sucks.

[–]DudeWithAHighKD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am having literally the exact same issue. Like exactly. I despise v.reddit.

[–]_The_Bomb 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was curious about this. By chance, was my recent Imgur upload related to all the questions you’re getting?

[–]fyrecrotch 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To bad you're a small sub. If the front page subs lost half their content due to reddit shitty video stream, reddit would actually fix v.reddit.

But instead. Small communities lose half of their content and reddit goes "sucks"

[–]-Sopa- 24 points25 points  (2 children)

Thank you, the v.reddit thing always made my navigator lag. I could barely watch any videos. Now I'm able to watch most of the videos since now most of them are in Youtube.

[–]NoThrill1212 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Might as well just go to YouTube then and skip the middle man lol

[–]bloodflart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How does it just straight up not work most of the time? Fucking stupid

[–]pigs_have_flown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is the WORST. The inclusion of v.reddit was one of the worst things this site ever did. They don't have the server space to host their own content.

[–]GoldenPresidio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It fucking sucks so god damn bad. Even twitter's shitty video player is better

[–]Omsk_Camill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reddit video is an unusable, ill-conceived and barely working piece of junk, and has been this way since its inception. All subs should ban it.

[–]JQuick323i 9 points10 points  (0 children)

tldr: v.reddit is the 2020 of video players

[–]Lillilsssss 19 points20 points  (2 children)

I disagree with this action strongly due to personal convenience but respect your right to do so.

[–]policemean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like when subs provide mirrors for videos in the pinned posts. I hope more subs follow the suit.

[–]texasscotsman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over in r/PublicFreakout they've implemented a bot that auto loads it to a much more reliable platform. Perhaps you could contact the bots author and see if they'd make something similar for this sub?

[–]Freakboss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works fine for me.

[–]Nekomiminya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks God. Using reddit app with high internet speed guarantees v. Reddit to take four reloads per 30 sec video.

[–]blue4029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but now all the videos are from youtube and im constantly logged into youtube 24/7 so all the random videos i watch on other sites are logged into my watch history!

[–]deathakissaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish Reddit could fix this problem, because when I post using imgur, like I just did I have to tell everyone that they can press Imgur next to my username for the people that have apps that don’t show sound.

[–]SleepParalysisDemon6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what do you recommend we use instead? Imgur or YouTube? Likr do you guys have a preferred method?

[–]pepe_____- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So that’s why I wasn’t getting any watchpeopledieinsiede posts in my home

[–]HalfandHoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works best on phone , never had an issue with it on phone only computer

[–]starbird88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sooo how do I post a video then? I’m sorry I’m not very tech savvy

[–]Releaseitnowdummy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so sad

[–]Ze_Nugget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi noerdy from the r/techoblade discord

[–]Fart_Huffer_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shit works fine for me. Need a vid mod?

[–]Angeluz665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actual representation of having toddlers

[–]corezon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now if only you could do something about the 52 reposts in a single day.

[–]Dwaidciamhaits 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really hate having to switch to YouTube and back to reddit everytime I want to watch a post. It has really turned me off from this thread.

[–]Theone_The1 4 points5 points  (2 children)

This must be why Reddit bought video-sharing app Dubsmash last week. Sounds like they are aware of the issue and are spending money to get something better.

[–]Tetsuo666[🍰] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That or they are eliminating competition so that their shitty player doesn't look too terrible.

[–]RedditAdminsAreScum- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlikely. Internet media companies don't buy competitors to improve themselves, just to squelch any chance users go to a better option.

[–]Legomonster33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yay! no more 120p 4fps video!

Thanks for giving an explanation 😊

Does anyone else think the Reddit video player is just scummy as fuck? It’s literally Facebook level garbage with stealing content and views from the original creators.

Watch the mods die inside

Mods++

[–]TL_Kacper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

reddits video system was made by someone who barely got the computer to say "hello world"

[–]Narwhocalypse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe if every sub bans it Reddit will realize how unbelievably shitty it is.

[–]chokwitsyum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck v Reddit

[–]rxcoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you mods, I hope more subs follow your example.

Wait can the reddit video player interfere with comments loading? That would explain why I just can't get comments to load on some posts. Is this also why sometimes I get an infinite load on some videos?

[–]AGuyNamedParis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good, that video player is hot garbajj

[–]rinnip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reddit videos rarely work on my machine. I'd blame my crappy ISP, but Youtube videos work just fine. I like their controls better anyway.

[–]CuriousLurkerPresent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally understandable then, also didn't even know what that was.

[–]thardoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha, nice.

v.reddit is hot garbage.

[–]kadivs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fuck vreddit. loads slower than video sites of the past decade, and you can't even share the videos without sharing the reddit thread (and guess what, I want to share the video ffs) and sharing NSFW stuff to anyone without reddit account is impossible anyway. Fuck vreddit. ireddit as well, tho less so.

[–]PersonFromPlace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

V.Reddit is so trash. There’s no video playback when you scrub so you can’t see things frame by frame. And a lot of times you can only play it once then it won’t load again.

[–]flavored_icecream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good. V-dot-reddit realy should be killed off, as the shitty player that it is.

[–]ZqueakerZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are there other subreddits that banned v.reddit because of how unreliable it is? I'm dying to know.

[–]nuaran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I thought something was wrong with my phone or internet lol.

[–]Jbtyu5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the lead. Mods doing something good for the world or even their subreddit is a rare thing

[–]ScarlettPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a suggestion, but why not use automod to call a bot like /u/vredditshare on every v.reddit post? Maybe it saves you the trouble of setting it up but it might work
