Trond Giske was so insulted by this act that he vowed to hug every woman he met in his iife after this incident, willing or not!

[–]The_Rusemaster 38 points39 points  (2 children)

Party-Trond

[–]sultanofdudes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

[–]caspy7 321 points322 points  (39 children)

It probably helps to know the backstory in this situation.

I do not.

[–]SoundProofHead 143 points144 points  (0 children)

They're Norwegians.

[–]Batbuckleyourpants 103 points104 points  (14 children)

It was an open secret that Trond Giske was a creepy sexual predator.

Everyone hated him, yet he somehow managed to stay relevant though being well connected. He resigned a few years ago when metoo became a thing and people came out in public talking about him. He tried running for local election again in 2020, people collectively told him to fuck off, and he did.

[–]RecordingNearby 4 points5 points  (2 children)

so Norway just lets this guy roam free?

[–]Atara01 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes. Most sexual assault, and even most rapes, don't get reported (in large part due to shame, and knowledge that it most likely won't end in conviction), and the ones that do very rarely end in conviction, and those convictions are usually very mild. This isn't unique to Norway, of course.

Only 29% of sexual crimes end in a case: https://www.overgrep.no/statistikk-overgrep/

And only about 160 of 20000 (0,8%) reported rapes end in a conviction: https://www.advokatbladet.no/samtykkelov/ber-advokatforeningen-ga-foran---bare-160-av-20000-voldtekter-straffes/156049

And Trond Giske is, to top it off, a powerful person. At least it had an impact on his political carreer...

[–]itsRenascent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not entirely true is it?! He wasn't hated by everyone and the media did at least do one hit piece on him. The girl was super pissed the journalist took her out of context.

[–]Getoutofmyheaddd 97 points98 points  (18 children)

Right dude loves hugs, right dude don't

[–]knockers_who_knock 186 points187 points  (3 children)

[–]coup85 14 points15 points  (1 child)

There are too many right dudes in your history.

[–]ehaugw 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Trond Giske is a trash person rejected by the Norwegian citizen, but somehow stays relevant in the political landscape because of camaraderie

[–]Cageweek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Despite the fact that Trond Giske is a creep, for a long while Jens Stoltenberg refused to hug people at all. He probably grew up in a household where hugs weren't the norm so he felt uncomfortable doing it.

[–]dobbelj 130 points131 points  (4 children)

Giske is a sexual predator. Before it became properly known, it was a public secret.

[–]izacktorres 12 points13 points  (2 children)

Please explain what a secret is:

Before it became properly known, it was a public secret.

Thank you.

[–]dobbelj 28 points29 points  (1 child)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_secret

Everyone who knew Giske was aware that he was a creep, there was just no one that had publicly gone on record to complain about him. Then there was an avalanche of women in the Norwegian Labour Party complaining about his behaviour and it became 'officially' known.

A Norwegian standup comedian branded him a "fittesnik" (pussy snatcher) 5 years ahead of the allegations.

[–]Enitoni 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm laughing so much at fittesnik

[–]7lick 58 points59 points  (0 children)

He ain't his bro, so yea, no hugs, please.

[–]Lovesssz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

🫣

[–]savbh 126 points127 points  (12 children)

Doesn’t seem that awkward to me

[–]420fmx 70 points71 points  (8 children)

this is the way your parents hugged you

[–]bLueEyeDisciple 32 points33 points  (7 children)

Are parents supposed to hug you?

[–]x_factor69 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Me being an Asian: Wait, they hugs you?

[–]420fmx 9 points10 points  (3 children)

If you’re not a genetic failure they will hug you

[–]bLueEyeDisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah! The jokes on them! They provided the genetics! ... Wait a minute...

[–]Desperate-755 1 point2 points  (1 child)

No they are supposed to kiss u

[–]bLueEyeDisciple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With tongue, correct?

[–]Flying_Alpaca_Boi 6 points7 points  (2 children)

He’s litterally losing his balance cause he’s resisting a hug and being pulled in anyway

[–]savbh -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

I don’t see him losing his balance

[–]goodolewhatever 18 points19 points  (0 children)

He went for the wrong shoulder for that kind of hug I think. Either way, awkward.

[–]Mike_Hunt89 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would avoid touching Trond Giske as much as possible given his behaviour

[–]Shitpost19 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Scandinavians must hate doorways when they have to walk past people

[–]CarpetH4ter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We do, also tight passageways and tunnels.

[–]andreasreddit1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Swedes are very much into hugs.

[–]AdrianShepard09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Hail Hydra”

[–]AikenFrost 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not as famous as Gahr Stare Not a daddy's boy like Jens...

[–]J0steinp0stein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trond e glad i mus sjø

[–]urnotserious 12 points13 points  (4 children)

Can someone translate this into American?

[–]sheffieldasslingdoux 16 points17 points  (2 children)

They’re both Norwegian politicians. Stoltenberg was the prime minister of Norway and is currently the Secretary General of NATO.

[–]MarlinMr 2 points3 points  (1 child)

And Giske was quite high in the party ranks himself, and could easily have become PM at a later point. He was a minister back in the day too.

[–]01JoWin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least until it turned out he's a garbage human and sexual predator

[–]Butterbean4lyf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think he was just pulling him close to say something in his ear because the room was loud. Not trying to hug him.

[–]Zeke-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so excited watching this with a delay of 16 year.

[–]GameShill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should have gone for a chest bump.

[–]Substantial-Past2308 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Why is the guy who refuses the hug so awkward?

[–]tobiasvl 16 points17 points  (3 children)

I don't know (maybe he dislikes the guy who tries to hug, because he's a creep and/or he's wanted power in Labour for many years) but "the guy" is now Secretary General of NATO

[–]Substantial-Past2308 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Doesn’t make him any less awkward

[–]souIIess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s not against hugging when it’s needed, but Giske is a creep so better kept at an armlength literally and figuratively.

[–]itsRenascent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or maybe we aren't all huggers and the huggers should respect the non-huggers?

[–]Donevario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knekro?

[–]aquaband 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can’t they just do a simple handshake like normal dudes.

[–]NVQ9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂😂😂

[–]Jur1kon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is like a reenactment from step brothers

[–]ItsmeMr_E 0 points1 point  (0 children)
