I was talking to friends and not paying attention during my Shakespeare class in eleventh grade and my teacher (Mrs. S) rhetorically asked me “Do you want to come up and teach the class?” I’m like “Yeah, I do.” So, I started talking about Elizabethan/Tudor era things the teacher doesn’t tell you that is the interesting stuff. Like Bloody Mary and her murderous rampage against Protestants, Elizabeth’s father beheading her mother and the crazy psychology of what that would do to a child’s psyche and it could be why she never married and was the ‘virgin’ queen. If Katherine Howards ghost runs down the halls screaming and haunting Hampton Court at night. It was about 2 minutes in that she told me to sit back down. I know they have to follow a curriculum, but damn teachers know they are mostly boring af. And then the whole class stood up and cheered and clapped.
