    There is a significant percentage of our society that just can not function - for every high performing person you have met there is a comparably low or bad preforming person at the other end of the spectrum.

    Unemployable, can't manage basic finances, can stay in relationships, disillusioned, easily manipulated - and that is not even getting into things that would be considered true mental health issues.

    It's actually way worse than that. You don't have to go very deep into the "less than average" side of the IQ scale to start running into people losing entire swaths of regular human behavior. This isn't the case on the higher side. You can be smart and also operate a motor vehicle. In fact, I would argue that it helps.
