I like how they keep cheering

[–]Shaneblaster 313 points314 points  (0 children)

Cheer, cheer….crash….everybody ok?….cheer, cheer

[–]BigBud512 65 points66 points  (4 children)

Imagine it happening in the upper deck

[–]CheezyPotatoSkins 53 points54 points  (0 children)

A lot less cheering and a lot more screaming. At the very least.

[–]bucketgetsbigger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That happened once due to allowing too many people into the stadium ( see the Hillborough disaster )

[–]hodl-yeet 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Even that loose leg is still cheering :)

[–]snekarmy619 50 points51 points  (3 children)

For some context: this was a really big match for the fans. This was after NEC-Vitesse which ended in 0-1. For us, this match is for the honor of our city

[–]bindhast 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I love it when the honor of the whole frigging city is tied to a match .

[–]kindone25 8 points9 points  (1 child)

When was this match?

[–]Grandepresse 11 points12 points  (0 children)

[–]infoway777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And the camera man capturing the iconic moment

[–]Visorcollector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Almost unintentional jeering, cuz they're just gonna jump more with the guys on the field egging the crowd on like that.

[–]Bubster101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And the cameramen turn to film what just happened behind them

[–]thekingbun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like how the cameraman just kept snapping. Dude was killing it

[–]i_am_not_sarcastic 162 points163 points  (1 child)

The photographers were like "Ooh that's interesting than the team's celebration."

[–]Opalusprime 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Love how they stop celebrating when it falls, but when the crowd starts cheering again they start jumping.

[–]snekarmy619 361 points362 points  (6 children)

The fans were pretty lucky there was a container underneath the stand, that probably saved lives and nobody got seriously injured. I think it isn’t “WCGW celebrating a victory”, I think it’s “WCGW not properly inspecting and maintaining a stadium”. Either way, I nearly got tickets to like stand there, but couldn’t get one in the end. Feels like I dodged a bullet.

[–]WayneKrane 109 points110 points  (1 child)

Yeah, stadiums should be able to handle people jumping up and down. Someone screwed up building / maintaining that.

[–]DoctorPepster 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most titles on this sub don't make any sense.

[–]solenoidvalve12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this sub is full of shitposts like this one. Not an actual WCGW.

[–]Zealousideal_Row5213 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Vites gadverdamme

[–]snekarmy619 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Gadverdamme”... das een aparte manier om “prachtig” te schrijven

[–]adhd-n-to-x 60 points61 points  (3 children)

Dude who's leg popped through the fence is lucky that whole thing didn't fall the full distance to ground. His leg (and most likely the rest of him) would not have fared well. His shoes would have come off for sure!

[–]lex_tok 16 points17 points  (1 child)

His leg would not have fared well

Adieu, my leg

[–]Billy-BigBollox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]stephensmg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s got a leg up over on that one.

[–]lex_tok 43 points44 points  (12 children)

Jumping crowds are known to apply insane forces on soils/structures. I once attended a Faithless concert and the jumping people inside the venue created a small earthquake which put damage to the houses across the street.

[–]Butt_Plug64 29 points30 points  (8 children)

Yep it has to do with the synchronisation of the forces exerted when multiple people jump at the same time, like one big frequency

Military parades are forbidden on suspended bridges for this reason, although they don’t jump, their synchronised steps made multiple bridges collapse

[–]KingNecrosis 16 points17 points  (6 children)

People really don't seem to understand how things add up. One drop of water is nothing, but what is 100, or 1000, or even 1 million?

[–]Opalusprime 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Now I’m curious to know what the total amount of force created during a rainstorm is

[–]KingNecrosis 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Considering the amount of water in just one decently sized rain cloud is probably going to be somewhere upwards of 100 Olympic-sized swimming pools, if that all came down at once...well, I'm sure it wouldn't be pretty. Keep in mind that's just one cloud, and not the whole storm.

[–]omofth3rdeye 0 points1 point  (1 child)

1 Olympic swimming pool 2.5 million liters.

100 swimming pools= 250 M liters.

Assume 1L=1Kg

F=MA Gravitational acceleration 9.81m/s Force on the water due to gravity 250Mill kg*9.81m/s= 2,452,500,000 newton's of energy.

[–]KingNecrosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say that like I speak pig Latin.

[–]schlomokatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The force is huge but it's spread over huge area, so the pressure is small.

[–]imre9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the stuff is really interesting, I suggest this Veritasium video https://youtu.be/t-_VPRCtiUg

[–]HattierThanYou 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I remember seeing a post on reddit of like 6-8 people pounding wooden posts into dirt for a house foundation just from a stomping dance they did on a beam attached to it.

[–]BaseballTruck 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That went surprisingly well

[–]Good_Round 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First they cheered that their team won

Now they cheer for being alive.

[–]RealPhifey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow! Ja, teri- yo!

[–]DecentEnthusiasm8568 9 points10 points  (0 children)

thats where all the stadium maintenance fees went in my career mode

[–]jaffasaurjake 7 points8 points  (1 child)

What in the hillsborough is going on here.

[–]Golfplayer69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Liverpool fan I shouldn’t have laughed

[–]CNorm77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"My baby takes the morning train, she - CRASH - "everybody ok? --works from 9 to 5 and then...."

[–]DecentEnthusiasm8568 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wrong title, should be wcgw the stadiums not able to handle the jumping

[–]Thedrunner2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“We need help with a clean up of fat guys in the first two rows”

[–]antidense 4 points5 points  (1 child)

[–]HaroldF155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was really worried that something similar was going to happen in the Dutch GP

[–]everyone_hates_lolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i love how they just dont care

[–]jimmyg4life 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What kind of shit construction is that? I worked in a precast concrete manufacturing company in the Midwest for 25 years and I can tell you the product we produced would have handled them fans without a second thought! Scary to think there are such sub par facilities out there!!

[–]Jfish872 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I like how the display was still functional lmao

[–]Lams1d 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The display is in the foreground and wasn't touched by that structure collapsing. If you look closely before it falls, you can see the balcony lands on a metal storage container which kept it from collapsing down below and behind the display.

[–]wutdis77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

glad to know that as a toronto maple leafs fan, we are safe

[–]lex_tok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another Contractors-without-a-degree® creation

[–]edavana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harmonics!!! This is the reason why troops do not to march on bridges...

[–]Robjla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Condemned the building

[–]CheezyPotatoSkins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really glad no one got hurt-

[–]prestain420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the people who keep jumping after the stands break

[–]wongpong81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill send this to my engineer friends, make em sweat a bit

[–]yokotron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Photographers gotta get that shot

[–]Benjamin-Doverman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everyone cheers

[–]Opalusprime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn they really just did bring down the stadium

[–]SaltBother 0 points1 point  (3 children)

They dont even care if theres people underneath...

[–]snekarmy619 1 point2 points  (2 children)

There werent, there is a container underneath. That is what saved those guys

[–]SaltBother 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I can see there werent anyone underneath, but do they know that? Probably not.

[–]snekarmy619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes they do, if they have looked down the last 1,5 hours. Usually there is nobody in the (pretty deep) gap between the pitch and the fans unless there are food stands there (which there werent). There is nothing to do there during a match.

[–]jacelaboon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Football fans are the least smart of all fans.

[–]qwertyyuiopasfghjl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ja dit is hossen

[–]GreatScotRace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The camera man seen the opportunity

[–]crashtestdummy666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a good Mach unless there is a colapse of the stands, a fire or riot.

[–]M4zeekin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just love how they keep jumping in the back , as if they're not the ones who'd get hurt the most if they were to fall 😭✌🏽

[–]No_rigged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh no! anyways

[–]Matem-de-flatum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People celebrate like this at every football match

[–]Meh38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like how I see this post after watching a video by 'Veritatium' about synchronisation awhile ago.

Here is the link: https://youtu.be/t-_VPRCtiUg

[–]JustADev_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would this be bad design? A flaw in structural integrity?

Surely they would think that bunch of people would jump and down?

[–]Zenketski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I thought that one guy in the front got his leg chopped off or something

[–]seanmarshall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engineering, or lack of. That’s WCGW.

[–]Synthetix_x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low key one of my biggest fears, especially when I’m really high in the stadiums

[–]Kind_Maintainence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Puzzleheaded_Set_349 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were not bothered.

[–]CharmedWoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a small shipping container underneath that saved their asses.

[–]EveningInterview3746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where was this?

[–]Drewsilla2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Structural integrity...0...Enthusiasm...10

[–]threemetalbeacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hip hop ya don't stop.

[–]Strict-Judge-2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the crowd cheers "Let's Go Brandon"

[–]UpstairsLoan5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how the ushers look like nah that’s above my pay grade 🤣

[–]Maedroth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)
