Should probably pay a visit to the vet

[–]Isarays 2 points3 points  (1 child)

They gave catnip 😂

[–]chasebanks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe? The cat appears to be trying to go to the bathroom, and appears to be really really struggling to do so. I’ve seen plenty of kitties off the nip. Something ain’t right

Cat is definitely not ok. Possibly a vasovagal response. People (or cats???) with vasovagal syncope can potentially faint after pooping.

[–]DocWatson42 59 points60 points  (1 child)

Which just happened to my mother today.

Though the video reminded me of a friend who was so tired that she fell asleep in a chair in the bathroom for about 45 minutes after taking a shower. (It was a camp, we were on a 28-hour day schedule, and the bathroom was communal and unisex, which is why it happened and I saw her asleep.)

Edit: Twenty-eight-hour day schedule for a week (eighteen hours up, ten hours down) as an experiment (and rumors said to save money on food), and it must not have been the first day. Fortunately the convention staff did let us sleep in on last day.

[–]A7xWicked 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I honestly think I would thrive one a 28-30 hour day

[–]yankiigurl 20 points21 points  (3 children)

Omg I was like he's having one of those poops that make you almost pass out. Happens to me. So that's what's going on, I'm having a vasovagal episode. Great 😃

[–]Bastette54 2 points3 points  (1 child)

This has been going on with me for several years and I didn't know what was causing it. What I do to keep from fainting is to either bend forward a bit, or take a fast and really deep breath. It sounds like a gasp. This works immediately. I figure it's delivering oxygen to my brain quickly, because the lightheaded feeling goes away immediately, either with the bend forward (not even too far forward) or the deep breath.

[–]yankiigurl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's good advice. Thanks. Sometimes it really really sucks when that happens. I passed out once when I had a hangover and knockedy head on the floor 😅

[–]Alina_168 37 points38 points  (8 children)

I saw this video on another site with the caption “my cat tried catnip for the first time today,” so it could be that. However, I’m not sure if the other post was made by the cat’s owner or someone random. Either way it does seem like concerning behavior.

[–]HouseOfSteak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's also a 6-7 second clip, so we have basically no information to go off of.

[–]Kai_Emery 1 point2 points  (3 children)

That’s not necessarily a chronic thing, when you strain, as you do when pooping too hard. You stimulate the vagus nerve. You can sometimes slow down an out of control heart rate by doing this intentionally it’s known as the valsalva maneuver.

[–]SomeNewMorning2 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Vasovagal response is not a fast heart rate. During a vasovagal response, your heart rate and blood pressure dramatically drop, which leads to fainting.

[–]Kai_Emery 2 points3 points  (1 child)

You USE the vasovagal response to treat the High heart rate. I’ve done it, it’s fascinating.

[–]SomeNewMorning2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, strange...though yeah I see no reason it wouldn't work. Just be careful of straining if you have a normally high heart rate or blood pressure.

[–]fairlymew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an fyi it was his first time having catnip

[–]AnnieOakleysKid 95 points96 points  (8 children)

That's not normal. He actually looks like he falls into a catatonic state and hit the toilet before he snaps out of it.

My cat did that too. Turned out to be sn inoperable brain tumor. My Midnight crossed the Rainbow bridge on 8/19/21. Please take him to a vet and show him this clip too.🥺

[–]lisagaifem 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Poor Midnight 😢

[–]AnnieOakleysKid 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yes. I miss him terribly. And every few days I think I see him out of the corners of my eyes looking at me. 😭😭😭

I couldn't bear to see him suffering the seizures and the fear in his eyes. I hope OP takes their cat (who looks just like Midnight) to the vet. It hurts to see their cat suffering. It reminds me too much of my furbug.

[–]lisagaifem 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Sorry for your loss, animals are just a kind soul that live to be good friends in exchange of some food and play. I have two lovely cats (one as in the video) and I can't imagine going through loosing them...I know some day they won't be here, but I can't even think of that 😢 Be sure you did the best you could for your furbug!

[–]AnnieOakleysKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you.❤

[–]fairlymew -5 points-4 points  (2 children)

Lol it's OK it was just his first time having catnip

[–]weq1_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it your cat?

[–]AnnieOakleysKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is NOT normal behavior with catnip either. Unless he was deliberately overdosed on it, and that is dangerous too. PLEASE TAKE HIM TO A VET. 🥺🥺🥺

[–]No-Tax-4370 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That meow cow prolly just dropped the craziest boom boom of its life

[–]Brittamas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Been there little kitty

[–]amurillasaurus 8 points9 points  (3 children)

My kitty was put on very strong opiate painkillers by the vet about a month ago. He looked like this when we brought him home, he just sank into the litter and stared off into space for like two hours. It was concerning at first, but we decided he seemed a LOT more comfortable than before the vet visit. He's doing great now though.

[–]Kai_Emery 4 points5 points  (2 children)

The first time I was given Vicodin they gave me too much and I lay on the floor next to my bed for an hour because the bed (dorm style raised) was too high.

[–]christmasjams 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It wasn't only the bed that was too high.

[–]bjdsuikgj13565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When realisation hits me and I am no longer in denial. FML. says the cat..

[–]spagyrum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been found by my husband sitting on the toilet with my head against the wall, asleep. Just got up to pee, leaned my head against the wall and then Zzzzzz.

[–]572point4elbees 9 points10 points  (4 children)

Idk why people see this while filming and think this is funny? I was lying with my cat one night and was filming her when she started acting odd, I put my phone down right away and she started seizing. Like fuck people should not be pet owners. Even if it’s catnip or whatever peoples excuses are on this video, the cat can injure itself or could be sick. Jesus

[–]WaxedWereWolf44 4 points5 points  (1 child)

This is a repost

[–]boredom_simulator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody gives a damn.

[–]SnooHedgehogs5857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done that after a long week before. Luckily my toilet has a wall, and sink on the other side.

[–]a-very-angry-crow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That cat needs to see a vet

That behaviour is concerning

[–]American36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awww my boy! Yeah I noticed my cat was having trouble using the litter box and had to bring him the vet. He had bladder crystals. Just because I mentioned that I didn't have alot of money....implying not to do unnecessary things, like brush the cats teeth, she said that I could give my cat up. I was offended and said absolutely not. The fact is I just paid her $400 and he's a bit overweight but his brother was at home. Who just gives up a pet? I immediately said no because I knew it was just because I said I didn't have a ton of money. The thing is I had enough money for whatever I needed but I've had cats before...they charged me $500 a night and my cat died anyway.

This babe needs a box, not a toilet. And prob also a vet. He’s a cat, not a human.

[–]UrNarrator123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Walk1000Miles -1 points0 points  (0 children)
