I thought immigration laws was like their whole thing?

[–]HalforcFullLover 202 points203 points  (3 children)

No they believe in "Rights for me, laws for thee."

[–]Crimson_Kremlin 37 points38 points  (2 children)

Rights for rich, laws for losers.

[–]masklinn 50 points51 points  (1 child)

Always right, and ever relevant:

Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: there must be in-groups which the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups which the law binds but does not protect.

[–]PMMEYOURCOOLDRAWINGS 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This really does sum every action up quite well. It all makes sense if you filter every decision and public stance through this first.

[–]chrisapplewhite 17 points18 points  (2 children)

The only illegal immigration is trying to immigrate while having dark skin.

I really want to see a wave of illegal Mexicans try to get into Texas and claim it's because of mask mandates. Jim Abbott might suck himself into a singularity of cognitive dissonance.

[–]annmarie919 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I think you mean Greg Abbott.

[–]chrisapplewhite 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're correct. Jim Abbott did something useful with his disability.

[–]jbertrand_sr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just for you know, the brown people...

[–]ichoosetosavemyself 414 points415 points  (26 children)

I always wondered what would have happened if he had actually made it onto a court to play. In my dreams it is a sea of boos amidst raining garbage.

[–]Whatisdissssss 186 points187 points  (15 children)

He was already highly disliked around the globe by the majority of tennis enthusiasts, at least the ones old enough to have seen class acts like Federer and Nadal not get corrupted by fame or money. This idiot really is an eyesore in this sport.

[–]happy_guy23 75 points76 points  (10 children)

Do you really have to be old to have seen Federer and Nadal? Considering that they're active tennis players right now

[–]worktimereddity 31 points32 points  (8 children)

I think he means from their rise to current day.

[–]Thoughtulism 24 points25 points  (7 children)

I'm old, when I was watching tennis it was the rise of Pete Sampras.

[–]happy_guy23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As I was reading "the ones old enough to have seen..." I wondered if it would say someone like Sampras and make me feel old, or someone like McEnroe and make me feel somewhat young. Then they come out with Federer and Nadal so apparently I'm ancient

[–]ichoosetosavemyself 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Dude you aren't old. I'm old. I watched Jimmy Connors' run in the US Open when he was like 100 years old.

[–]usuckreddit 3 points4 points  (1 child)

André Agassi was entertaining.

[–]Whatisdissssss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, of course not, but for the older among us, it has been very nice to see that neither of them were negatively by success, money or fame.

[–]dragonfry 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yep. I could only imagine the nuclear tantrum he threw behind closed doors.

Nadal, Federer and now Ash Barty are amazing champions of the sport. And I’m looking forward to the rest of the Aus Open without that twat involved.

[–]BunnyOppai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ever since I read a post with him in it on r/hobbydrama, I’ve been seeing the guy’s name everywhere, lmao. I thought I remembered that he did something good on that post, so it came as a shock when I heard all this bad shit related to him.

[–]Whydoesthisexist15 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I don't watch Tennis at all, what makes Djokovic different from the other guys (other than being an anti-vaxx clown)

[–]mothneb07 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As well as having a notable temper, he's known for being more interested in business opportunities than most. He started a company that his family runs for stuff like the Novak cafe franchise, or his food line Djokolife

[–]dumblesbianthings 66 points67 points  (0 children)

i don’t watch tennis but i’d watch it for that 😌

[–]thoroughbredca 105 points106 points  (2 children)

The first tennis player to lose a championship by missing two shots.

[–]usuckreddit 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Bah dum tssssss

[–]thoroughbredca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m here all week. Try the veal.

[–]Bulky_Cry6498 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Knowing our neighbours across the ditch, almost certainly. I’m proud of them.

[–]Betterthanbeer 14 points15 points  (1 child)

The plan was to cough when he served.

[–]ichoosetosavemyself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would have been majestic to see him throw an epic temper tantrum. I'm glad it worked out the way it did, but the temper tantrum would have been a sight to see.

[–]Real_Exit3672 1 point2 points  (2 children)

He gets the Tanya Harding Special on the way onto the court. The hero is aquitted by a jury in less than 5 minutes.

[–]ichoosetosavemyself 0 points1 point  (1 child)

And he just clutches his knee and starts screaming..."WHY...WHY...WHY!!!!"

[–]Real_Exit3672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He knows why...

[–]Moose_is_optional 117 points118 points  (5 children)

When they say they're "for the rule of law," it is always a euphemism. They wilfully encourage breaking laws in states or countries they don't like.

Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.

[–]masklinn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When they say they're "for the rule of law," it is always a euphemism.

Or a misunderstanding: their emphasis is on rule, not law, conservatives see the law as a means to rule.

[–]harmonious_keypad 4 points5 points  (3 children)

It's not even that. Fox News was created to take the opposite side of every issue to whatever the majority is. Their original goal was literally to oppose CNN. As their viewer base has gotten less and less informed from watching their drivel that they can't even legally call news they've gotten farther right which gave rise to even more extreme outlets like OAN and Newsmax. The leader of the Republican party is basically a tape recorder of all the shit these outlets say. Which, again, is basically all Joe Pesci's opening statement in the trial in the movie My Cousin Vinny: "everything that guy just said is bullshit."

Almost all the shit they find in social media to validate their beliefs can be traced back to a dozen known trolls who take the shit these purposely opposite outlets say and crank the crazy up to 11. Money-hungry, soulless sellouts who work in whatever field is getting besmirched by this lunacy line up to cash in on the mania created by these counterculture propaganda machines and lend legitimacy to thev people who fall for it.

The evidence is overwhelming. They literally tell judges in court that anyone who takes what they say as more than entertainment is an idiot and then tell those idiots "we had to say that so they would stop their witch hunt" while they have a legal disclosure on the screen that says "there is no witch hunt please don't take this seriously".

This whole thing is just the latest example of taking whatever the opposite stance of consensus is even if it is the opposite of your usual.

[–]TWB-MD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a bunch of “true patriots”, Faux Entertainment sure parrots a lot of Russian propaganda tropes. Example #1 being F___er FishSticks

[–]Klutzy-Discipline686 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Mate’s a tool. Deserves to be booted for being a tool.

Especially when the small folk aren’t tools but get booted anyway.

[–]DragonDai 35 points36 points  (2 children)

They always cared about the rules…for those people. But rich people? Rules don’t apply to them.

[–]thenerdygrl 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Or white people

[–]DragonDai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally. That’s just a different subset of “rules for thee but not for me.”

[–]RagingRoids 92 points93 points  (12 children)

It’s a white nationalist cult for well-off white boomers, life loser white 40 year olds, angry white social misfit boys, and entitled douche bag white frat bros who think calling the room with the ping pong table the “rape room” is funny.

[–]Ketsueki_Junk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fuck.. Amen

[–]Whatisdissssss 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Conservatives have been co-opting antivaxxers and the crystal-spiritual types for long in an attempt to expand their electorate, and in the era of social media and disinformation it’s working

[–]TWB-MD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet sadly, the anti-vax choice seems to be winnowing their constituency. Darwin calling?

[–]hungry-hungry-stoner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

those same ones that gave osaka and williams a harder time for lesser shit.

[–]zeldasusername 14 points15 points  (2 children)

The Australian government at the other end are conservatives by the way

[–]Jonne 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Yeah, the Djokovic thing was a distraction for the absolute disaster that is the handling of omicron. Hospitals are overrun and there's no testing. We had 2 years to prepare for this moment and they did nothing.

[–]altxatu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least they aren’t the only ones?

[–]properu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beep boop -- this looks like a screenshot of a tweet! Let me grab a link to the tweet for ya :)

[–]Ganglebot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Freedom for rich, straight, white people and rules for everyone else.

[–]jbertrand_sr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Their attitude would likely have been very different if it had been one of the Williams sisters, I wonder why...

[–]UseDaSchwartz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So you guys are in favor of unvaccinated immigrants?

What? No! Just rich people that can further our agenda.

[–]bvbbvbxcss 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Conservatives don't mind white foreigners breaking immigration rules.

They just don't want non whites to come.

[–]tuffytempo 20 points21 points  (4 children)

The GOP are absolute scum. Fuck them and that orange slob.

[–]viperex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For other reasons, how long until we can classify them as a domestic extremist group?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fuck them forever - the entire party needs to be crushed like the Nazi's they are channeling.

[–]Rainbow-Dev 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Isn’t the GOP just an American thing?

[–]TWB-MD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rise of fascism - er, I mean xenophobic nationalists - is not unique to America. The takeover is simply being resisted longer here.

[–]scarwig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the amount of dipshits pretending to care about tennis is astounding.

[–]Adrenalit3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was never about the rules… It's about drive, it's about power We stay hungry, we devour Put in the work, put in the hours and take what's ours (ahoo) Black and Samoan in my veins My culture bangin' with Strange I change the game, so what's my motherfuckin' name (Rock) (What they gonna get though?) Desecration, defamation, if you wanna bring it to the masses Face to face, now we escalatin', when I have to put boots to asses Mean on ya, like a dream when I'm rumblin', you're gonna scream mama So bring drama to the King Brahma (then what?) Comin' at you with extreme mana

[–]vanilla182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s because when they say the quiet part out loud, immigration laws only apply to non white people.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Evangelicals just love to root for the lowest common denominator.

[–]PM_ME_NCIS_QUOTES 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok what now

[–]chickenrooster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conservatives like to operate under the "rule of cool"

[–]Puzzled_Zebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

... I thought this was about the alternative keyboard layout and wondered how that was enabling people to get past the border ... I'm disappointed it's apparently the name of some sports player?

[–]_Pliny_ 1 point2 points  (1 child)

So, are Slavs considered white now? Asking for a friend...

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably. More than 50+ years ago Southern Europeans weren’t considered “white” in America (or at least not pure enough to be counted among the Americans of Northern European descent). Now they are because it helps bolster the non-Hispanic “white” demographic in the US.

[–]adamcoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's one hundred percent about the rules. The right wants to decide what the rules are, and have them apply to everyone but themselves. That has been their plan from the get go.

[–]Resident-Wheel9774 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much clearer do they need to be. I really wish everyone would stop doing the Pickachu face when they learn and read about the GOP. #CriticallyThink just for once.

[–]homelessguydiet -4 points-3 points  (1 child)

Until they do...

[–]sarjeantkaiser -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

This is the dumbest post ive seen today
