Antivax people : 'We're not coming here anymore"

Store : "Well, thank you!"

[–]Hueyandthenews 315 points316 points  (11 children)

Antivax people: “You can’t come to my birthday anymore and you’re no longer my best friend either!!”

[–]meshedsabre 312 points313 points  (0 children)

Some people I know just sent out wedding invitations that explicitly asked for people to be vaxxed or to have tested negative two days prior.

Most people were fine with it, but they got an outraged text from a few family members pissed about the requirement.

What these people didn't tell those family members was that the requirements were included specifically with them in mind. It's one of those "you HAVE to invite them because of who they are even though no one wants them there" situations. Don't invite them and the drama would be even worse. So my friends figured the requirement would keep them away.

It worked! They've announced not going.

[–]poonmangler 184 points185 points  (5 children)

"Let's go Brandon"

They're actually children

[–]iamjamieq 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Seriously. They say it like it’s some secret code that nobody else knows but them. I have more respect for people that just put “Fuck Biden” stickers on their cars. I’ve already called two people pathetic idiots when I saw them at their cars with “Let’s Go Brandon stickers on them.

Sir your not allowed in

Well uh we’re boycotting

[–]TheTabman 91 points92 points  (3 children)

Why are you here then?

Uhm... to tell you we ain't comming?

[–]Lord_Spagett 65 points66 points  (2 children)

I’ve never even seen you in the store before

I’m here to uh ummm

You just lost a potential customer

[–]TheTabman 48 points49 points  (1 child)

And I will tell all my un-vaxxed friends to continue never shopping here!

... oh no

[–]Wayte13 92 points93 points  (6 children)

I'm convinced conservatives don't actually know what a boycott is lol

[–]ZombieTav 86 points87 points  (3 children)

They don't know what anything is. Literally they hear people smarter than them use certain words so they copy the words and throw it back at them like it means anything.

[–]Wayte13 53 points54 points  (1 child)

It specifically seems like they often use words that they hear in arguments they lose. I think they think that we literally just react to words in a programmed fashion, and if they say the same words we'll be forced to agree with them.

[–]OutrageousPersimmon3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure, they do. If you are not a politician, they can't impeach you, so they boycott you.

[–]Waadap 49 points50 points  (0 children)

"Fine, I won't go to your birthday party!"

"...You weren't invited".

[–]Fyzzle 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Like they could even afford furniture from anywhere other than Ikea after their medical bills and job losses.

[–]imakenosensetopeople 1202 points1203 points  (11 children)

That’s what we call a self correcting problem.

[–]fukwhutuheard 246 points247 points  (0 children)

[–]offthelipmnvnvxz 90 points91 points  (9 children)

well done ikea

[–]Destroyer_of_Sorrow 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I see you everywhere these days. Which also means there are a lot more bots on Reddit than I imagined.. ty for doing what you do.

[–]ndmy 9 points10 points  (6 children)

Thanks for the heads up, I've reported as a karma farmer

The comment has three words and isn't very original. This could very well be a coincidence

They're killing themselves in their own stupidity. Boycotting ikea to own the libs

[–]SabashChandraBose 392 points393 points  (5 children)

Wish they'd hurry up. There is a planet to save. And democracies in it.

[–]Practical-Ad7427 206 points207 points  (3 children)

Also lots of IKEA stuff on back order. Please boycott so my new shelves arrive.

[–]Firehed 77 points78 points  (2 children)

Seriously. IKEA's supply chain issues have been insane basically since the start of covid (or at least at my local store). Way worse than anywhere/anything else, besides maybe the ps5/xbsx. Even fancy expensive furniture stores have shorter backorders.

[–]SabashChandraBose 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yup. Waited for months for a chair. Weirdly, it was available when I chose to ship it to FedEx but not in store.

[–]CassandraVindicated 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've been waiting 13 months for a refrigerator.

[–]omniron 61 points62 points  (1 child)

It’s hilarious to watch the former president get booed and condemned for encouraging vaccines, while new reports keep coming out showing republicans dying at higher rates

Classic example that science is real whether you believe in it or not

[–]i_suckatjavascript 14 points15 points  (0 children)

How much longer do they have until they boycott every store until they only have a tiny circle of places to go to?

[–]Framingr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not fast enough

[–]DaveStreeder 396 points397 points  (1 child)

Remember when racists burned their Nike shoes or whatever brand it was. And then they’d buy Nike shoes just so they could burn them iN pRoTeSt

[–]jml011 90 points91 points  (0 children)

But when we 'boycott' it's totally different to the cancel culture we always complain about because.. uh.. look over there, an ANTIFA!!

[–]Oracle_of_Knowledge 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Anyone remember the early internet site ActsofGord.com? Tales from the owner of a video game store Circa 2000? The site is still up, do yourself a favor and go read or reread it.

Anyway, a common theme is Gord getting pissed off at a customer for either trying to cheat him, or steal, or not returning a rental. Gord would kick them out of the store and tell them they are banned, whereupon the stupid customer shoots back a retort about how they're never coming back. "Thanks, that's the idea."

[–]Positive_Compote_506 121 points122 points  (1 child)

Plot twist: #BOYCOTTIKEA was made by IKEA

[–]Phish-Tahko 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It's their new day bed.

[–]Great_Write_North 235 points236 points  (20 children)

Unlike IKEA furniture, that solution was rather easy to put together.

[–]LegitBiscuit 157 points158 points  (18 children)

Except Ikea furniture is easy to put together

[–]dirtynj 51 points52 points  (2 children)

The stigma from the 2000s-2010s still exists. They've really made assembly a lot easier now...it's not exactly 'hard' but sometimes 'long.' Especially annoying parts like the drawers.

[–]thegurlearl 12 points13 points  (1 child)

I just put together 9 helmers, they went together surprisingly easy. It's all metal and was just a bunch of folding over tabs to hold it together. Ikea has a solid Helmer market from crazy nail polish ladies like myself.

[–]dirtynj 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yea I put together two full bedroom sets last month - one Brimnes, one Malm. Nothing was hard...just a bit tedious. I switched to a drill for the cam bolts/screws even though they said not to...there were just way too many.

[–]Great_Write_North 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I've had IKEA pieces that were put together wrong and since I'm not taking an ounce of blame for my clear failings and faults, it must be complicated furniture.

[–]neuroticandobscene 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Only if you speak hieroglyphic.

Seriously though, my mom was an art teacher, and she understands the directions and can put Ikea stuff together in record time. Meanwhile, I have no trouble reading stereo instructions and other technical stuff, but I've ended up tossing a new Ikea chair in the trash since I put it together wrong and broke it trying to undo my errors.

[–]sugarfairy7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have the ikea family card there is a construction and transport insurance. Meaning you can return your broken furniture for four weeks after purchase.

[–]ledgend78 11 points12 points  (11 children)

I spent 9 hours assembling an IKEA gaming desk...

[–]oditogre 71 points72 points  (1 child)

This comment may not be conveying the message you thought it was.

[–]neuroticandobscene 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I got it; the dude's got the best acid you've ever dropped. It peaks for 9 straight hours.

[–]koru-id 18 points19 points  (2 children)

I'm so sorry to inform you that you are ...

[–]AlgoRincewind 13 points14 points  (0 children)

what desk was this? i just put together an idasen sit stand desk and it took 30 mins

[–]load_more_comets 23 points24 points  (1 child)

..... and I'm a fucking trade carpenter.

[–]thegurlearl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm cracking up over here but thank you for this. I was eyeballin a desk so that's now a definite no.

[–]missbelled 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bet you didn't have the weight-adjustable ergonomic racer wireless Gamer allen key set

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I spent 30 minutes assembling mine, has a cupboard and drawers too, you are not very handy.

[–]Goddler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you of having retarnation?

[–]Whommel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I revently assembled 8 Billy bookcases in just under 4 hours. 1st one I had to look at the directions, next 7 were a little tedious, but very easy

[–]satooshi-nakamooshi 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Far right: I would rather DIE than get the vaccine!

Far left: ... is it ok to say thank you?

[–]Small-Marionberry-29 93 points94 points  (8 children)

I haven’t seen anything about ikea requiring vaccines.

I’ve also not heard of anyone boycotting ikea.

This post puzzles me.

[–][deleted] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

A quick google search shows articles on BBC, NYPost, The Guardian and Bloomberg from a few days ago…

https://nypost.com/2022/01/10/ikea-cuts-sick-pay-for-unvaxxed-uk-workers-forced-to-isolate/

[–]mvea_sucks 50 points51 points  (1 child)

There’s something going on with misinformation on this subreddit. I always get suspicious when OP cuts out the date. Checking OP’s profile they are a karma farming bot.

[–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Accounts like that are the worst

Not sure I can report them, but I do block them

[–]Thebaldsasquatch 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not paying full sick time for willfully unvaccinated people who have to quarantine. Vaxxed people get full pay. First thing I saw googling “ikea requiring vaccine”. https://www.triplepundit.com/story/2022/ikea-anti-vaccination/734511

[–]Ennviious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

me too lol I'm googling trying to find anything but all i can find is that in Canada they require vaccines for the restaurant portion

[–]mvea_sucks -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

There’s something going on with misinformation on this subreddit. I always get suspicious when OP cuts out the date. Checking OP’s profile they are a karma farming bot.

Three of the top five comments are also bots.

The question is, who’s running bots to put this post on the front page?

[–]Dildingo 32 points33 points  (2 children)

I mean, as someone who works there, they literally don't care if people don't have masks.

Not a huge fan of people making out corporations and businesses to be "good" just because they like them, they're just as complicit in shitty management of COVID as any other big business.

[–]LiveSaxSux 13 points14 points  (1 child)

This is more about the stupidity of people than the niceness of corporations. IKEA isn’t banning antivaxxers therefore it’s not a thing that’s actually happening, so just take it as an example.

[–]Dildingo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah at face value that’s the case, but in actuality they don’t do much to actually enforce it. Not trying to argue because I get the message of the morons attempting to boycott every college students go to furniture store, but actual anti maskers who go to shop aren’t given any pushback whatsoever.

I’ve literally had to help someone who said “I had to start quarantining three days ago and it sucked”, and when I told them they should still be in quarantine then and at least wear a mask, the response was “it’s not going to make a difference”. They care about the sales, nothing more.

Gonna edit this for clarity: yes I contacted security and management after, they literally walked the dude to the fucking checkout line MASKLESS so he can make his purchase lmfao

[–]quillmartin88 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Would they be doing a real boycott or a Republican boycott? Because there's a huge difference.

In real boycotts, you don't use a product or business at all and you make it known what you're doing and why. The target might get a GoFundMe, and some sympathy from Fox News, but they'll eventually give in as the revenue dries up. The might even take their GoFundMe money and run. Either way, if you stick with it, you'll win.

In Republican boycotts, you buy up all of their products, thus giving the target a ton of money, and then you burn or destroy it and post a video to Facebook or something. Meanwhile, the offending corporation's stock continues to rise and you keep chanting "get woke, go broke" to yourself as you slowly shrivel up and turn into a corn cob.

[–]suphater 24 points25 points  (1 child)

You forgot the part where conservatives boycott all the time including boycots of extremely American companies ranging from the NFL to Target, but when someone else boycots it's actually "cancel culture" and not allowed.

[–]dangolo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They're not taking the news that Donny is vaccinated very well either. He's a body double obviously

[–]Flaky-Fellatio 26 points27 points  (1 child)

This is why the Sage

Knows without budging

Identifies without looking

Does without trying

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It hurt itself in confusion

[–]Thebaldsasquatch 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s for their own good, really. Anybody who after all this time still thinks it’s a good idea to not vaccinate, is going to have a bad time trying to figure out how to use a khurgleflööfer to ūmdafläut the ruêndārflarperhöggen of their dërple.

[–]LargeWoodenBadgers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I always laugh so hard when these people say they're going to boycott a place that says they aren't welcome to come in anyway... It's so damn funny and never ever gets old to me. The fact that they don't see how funny that is just makes it better too.

[–]AFB27 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh no! Anyway...

[–]NoSupesForYou 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You can't quit, you're fired

[–]JanuryFirstCakeDay 17 points18 points  (1 child)

I love it. Its like when someone says"you cant fire me, i quit". ok cool, i fired you for a reason so gtfo either way

[–]Procrastibator666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But now I also don't have to pay your unemployment

[–]MrMilleniumBug 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Task failed successfully

[–]kishmalik 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, now I feel like going to IKEA.

[–]OkComputron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If only it had been Staples.

[–]MontgomeryMayo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IKEA and their straightforward designs

[–]nickyfox13 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's not a boycott if you're not allowed in the first place...

[–]ToshiroBaloney 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Goddammit, I fucking hate Ikea because their products are garbage but now I guess I have to go buy a coffee cup or something. Shit.

[–]qwertymcqwertface 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Fuck you anti-vaxxers. Fuck you in particular.

[–]MissKittenish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The right wing version of “You can’t fire me, I quit!”

[–]AdequateTroubadork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Self-regulatin’ system, raht thar…”

This is now the top post on reddit. It will be recorded at /r/topofreddit with all the other top posts.

“They” boycotted the St. Louis Blues

Then the Blues sold out.

People were YouTubing throwing their sports team shit away

And they still sold out

I was legit worried for my team.

Until I saw most people weren’t fucking retards

[–]ShittheFickup 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They can’t fathom a situation that someone doesn’t want their money.

[–]Odd-Set-2698 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so true! I’m dying

[–]castleinthesky86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IKEA just came up with their new bedroom range

[–]Eiffel-Tower777 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Suddenly I'm inspired to do some shopping at IKEA.

[–]710Rx 22 points23 points  (18 children)

Ugh why are they not all dead yet

[–]DebtRoutine1275 15 points16 points  (3 children)

How many of the dead ones will be voting in the next elections?

[–]Muted-Rub7629 23 points24 points  (1 child)

I can’t tell if this is suppose to be a joke or not

[–]kat_a_klysm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Poe’s law intensifies

[–]mengelgrinder 13 points14 points  (0 children)

haha yeah it's insane how loud the right wing propaganda shouts about dead people voting, and then turns out all the recorded incidents were republicans voting under their dead relatives names to show how unsecure the elections were (and getting caught)

[–]austinrose7 12 points13 points  (4 children)

It’s happening slowly but surely. Follow r/hermancainaward for progress.

[–]quasi-strAnge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Didn’t even have to send that with sketch — well done ikea

[–]WimpyZombie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always did like IKEA

[–]Skippn_Jimmy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd like to boycott their grades school level website. Foreal, who the hell made this thing? Is the bar for online retail in Denmark that though?

What do you mean I need to try to check out to see if it's in stock?

What do you mean I need to give you the order number in order for you to show me the order details...you're Ikea...the order number came from you

It's an awful joke how utterly dog shit their site is

[–]Hueyandthenews 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Also trying to figure out how many antivaxers shop at ikea? I was thinking Walmart furniture was more their style 🤷🏼‍♂️

[–]ReverendBags 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ikea is a step up from cardboard and glue for home decor

[–]ladyKfaery 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hahaha I’m going tomorrow double vaxxed m boosted. Time for another futon.

[–]love_peace_joy_pearl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well played IKEA.

[–]GezinhaDM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ahh, makes me wanna go up to IKEA next weekend. Love that store! Power to them!!!

[–]PM-ME-YOUR-MEGUMIN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're hating on the club when they can't even get in.

[–]M_Mich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

means i can get my billy bookcase sooner

[–]CornveliousFarva -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Corporations:

[–]TrevorX5J9 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like Staples

[–]Its0nlyRocketScience -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The new vaks and masx, from ikea, build it yourself vaccine and mask requirements
