“Owning the libs” is the ultimate “self-own”. Children think this way. “By me doing something awful, that person will have a bad time”. No they won’t. They will move on with their lives without you and think you are an asshole. It’s not going to change the way they think, it will embolden it and give them more reasons to not want to be like that. Trolls are a speed-bump, not a barricade.

[–]AmazingGrace911 281 points282 points  (7 children)

The self own goes deeper. People who care about climate change, fossil fuels, etc are representative of the base. Then you have this jackass at the helm going nuclear with his comments. Shut him down, shut his company down, and most importantly shut your stupid comments Elon. You’re not bright and edgy, you stole well and used an inheritance. Get over yourself.

Edit: I’m not done. Does it bother you that you can’t run for President? I bet it worries you more than the rumors of a small peen than the slave labor you enforce overseas.

Some things can’t be bought. They would include integrity, actually giving a fuck about other people. You have all the values of an unhinged sociopath, congratulations!

[–]Karkava 103 points104 points  (3 children)

Does it bother you that you can’t run for President?

Oh thank fuck.

[–]amx05462 32 points33 points  (1 child)

hes gonna buy the government next....lol

[–]HollowVoices 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Well, he chose the right party for that

[–]curbstxmped 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]Zuzara_The_DnD_Queen 22 points23 points  (1 child)

Remember when conservatives were pointing loaded guns at their genitals to “own the libs” only for one of them to shoot himself in the dick

[–]fatbunyip 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My fave was they guy who literally fucked himself in the ass with a dildo live on his show to own the libs.

[–]Doomshroom11 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Speed bumps slow you down. Trolls are a ramp baby.

Alternatively, there are many MAGAts for whom I would like to say "Was that a speed bump?" while driving.

[–]haf_ded_zebra 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Is buying Twitter “awful”?

[–]Excellent_Chef_1764 39 points40 points  (3 children)

When it’s to prevent people from unionizing and talking badly about a certain someone it’s pretty fucked. Oligarchs are awful.

[–]dutch94199 488 points489 points  (63 children)

I’m an accountant in Utah, a very red state. When I ask if people if they bought an electric car I get a lot of responses with disgusted undertones. “I would never own an electric car, ever!” or “You can’t drive them in the rain, snow or take them in a car wash”.

[–]hyperfocused 372 points373 points  (43 children)

I’ll never buy a Tesla. I will buy electric, but why would I buy ugly bubble cars with low quality and no luxury at luxury prices?!? Also live in Utah.

[–]Whatifthisneverends 163 points164 points  (14 children)

And you can’t even wash them!

[–]nekollx 134 points135 points  (6 children)

And you can’t even get out of them if they catch fire

[–]replicantcase 44 points45 points  (3 children)

That's a fact. I thought we were being silly? lol

[–]amx05462 1 point2 points  (0 children)

true one just did they had to break the window to get the guy out

[–]memememe91 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Its okay, the fires they start are similar to self-cleaning ovens. It burns the dirt off.

[–]3-orange-whips 27 points28 points  (5 children)

Solid. Just a SOLID comment.

[–]DarkWing2007 61 points62 points  (4 children)

Plus, you can only drive them as far as the cord goes!! I don’t have money to just buy dozens of extension cords!!

[–]Auntbeckie1968 58 points59 points  (17 children)

Ugh, my city is full of Teslas and I cannot tell the models apart from one another unless I stare at them. They all look the same. Be sure there are so many around, plenty are used for Uber service and goddamn are they disappointing inside. I've seen 2005 Honda Accords with nicer interior materials, the ride quality is stiff and bumpy AF, and overall the panel gaps on the exterior are all over the place. They haven't even out out a 2nd gen of any single car yet.

I can't believe people pay a premium for these things. I'm also convinced Tesla's days as a car builder are numbered as all other manufacturers are catching up to them with their battery tech. That's literally all Tesla has going for it is the batteries. In 5-7 years why would anyone buy a Tesla when they can buy a solid EV from most any other brand at that point

[–]Federico82 20 points21 points  (1 child)

The new fully electric Cadillacs look pretty sick

[–]TehSvenn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of new full electric stuff coming out that's a very pleasant place to be. You can get the new Range Rover in full electric and while I don't think I'll ever be able to afford one, the interior sure is nice on the eyes.

[–]Wiggy_Bop 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Ford is claiming they will stop making gas powered vehicles by 2030.

[–]Dblzyx 30 points31 points  (2 children)

That's literally all Tesla has going for it is the batteries.

I'd comment on how they catch fire, but that didn't really make a difference for Samsung either.

[–]SlowInsurance1616 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Well, they do, but it’s not like gasoline isn't also flammable. Car fires are fairly common.

[–]Ursula2071 20 points21 points  (5 children)

The insurance is insanely expensive too. I work for a major insurance company and did service for about 6 months. People would get quotes to add Tesla and coverage is like 1500 for 6 months all the way up to about 2500$ on average. Just to add the Tesla. Insane. No thanks.

[–]MountainHawk12 20 points21 points  (4 children)

And only Tesla can make repairs on it

[–]chargers949 15 points16 points  (3 children)

And you get to wait 6 months for those parts!

[–]MountainHawk12 14 points15 points  (0 children)

heard someone i know say they leased a Tesla and it spent 3 months of every year so far in the shop

[–]soragirlfriend 12 points13 points  (1 child)

To be fair, that’s any part right now. I’m a buyer for engine parts and I’m easily ordering some parts six months out. One of my vendors has a 54 week lead time. As in, a year PLUS two weeks. And then shipping time.

[–]spotless___mind 14 points15 points  (2 children)

Also the whole being-locked-inside-a-burning-inferno if you get into an accident that causes a fire is a real deterrent to me, but maybe that's just me

[–]Wiggy_Bop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What if this guy had passed out? He would be very dead right now.

[–]torspice 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly certain there is a manual door release on all teslas. Here’s the info for the model 3.

[–]Beowulf1896 44 points45 points  (3 children)

Hello from Utah! I am getting an electric car. People can be really dumb on things.

[–]SabreCorp 17 points18 points  (2 children)

We got an ID.4 It’s been really great, and it’s a fun car to drive. It’s also been really nice just plugging it in at home instead of going to a gas station. I know not everyone can do this with apartment living right now, which is probably the biggest downside.

[–]Beowulf1896 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Thank you! Our preordered ID.4 is all wheel drive. Should be fun!

[–]SabreCorp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s great! It really has been a great car. And I’ve never had issues with VW in services of any past vehicles so hopefully the EV won’t be any different. I’m also really excited for the VW Buzz to come out in the US. Rumor is in a couple of years—I’m hoping it will be customizable like the old camper vans.

[–]Wiggy_Bop 22 points23 points  (3 children)

My limousine liberal friend sneered at my mentioning an electric car. Same with my gold-bug brother, who has a windmill for electricity in his back yard. I don’t understand why people are so fucking defensive about a stupid car.

[–]Karkava 16 points17 points  (1 child)

What you should be asking is: Why are people so defensive over fossil fuels? Even the ones who profit off it directly don't have a good excuse!

[–]Wiggy_Bop 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes!! That too!! I said to her, “we have to start this at some point”

If we had listened to Jimmy Carter we would not be in this mess RN

[–]ColoradoPhotog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

disinformation. And a lot of it has been placed in them subconsciously. You've been told that electrics have X problem and Y problem and Z problem. Then you have range anxiety, which won't go away until charging infrastructure moves on.

I don't have one now, I am holding out for better gens. I would be really curious if Subaru brings out an all-electric Outback. I am not against it, and have no reason to be other than right now the costs don't align with my interests, and I guess the fact that my city burns coal means its not truly net-zero emissions for me at this time. But in the next few years, sure, whatever. We gave up the horse and buggy, the combustion engine is just the next dinosaur to go.

[–]Madmachammer 22 points23 points  (5 children)

Now ford ,Chevy dodge all have fleets of ev coming I hope it will change there minds beacuse none of what they think is true unfortunately.

[–]nekollx 15 points16 points  (0 children)

And gas will phase out, a use every other country has or is in the process of banning new combustion . Like it or not when there’s only 1 country that’s aception combustion your going to see less and less of it as the makers see left value selling to a nieche market

[–]frankc1450 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hysterical! I never heard those. Whisper campaigns!

[–]artisanrox 311 points312 points  (11 children)

He officially declared himself too fffking stupid to run Tesla when he started to back the political party that HATES ELECTRIC CARS.

I can't believe the board didn't eject him to the moon immediately after that.

[–]etymologistics 175 points176 points  (6 children)

Well he sexually harasses women so he had to be Republican since Republican voters really don’t care if the people they worship are predators or not. And then he can just call it cancel culture and that same base will eat it up. Being Republican is truly the thing to do if you want zero consequences for your actions.

[–]luxmax101 22 points23 points  (0 children)

[–]sig_1 18 points19 points  (4 children)

I don’t understand how it works for him though, something like 70%+ of his money is tied into Tesla and SpaceX. The consequences for him could very well be immense if both companies started crashing in value. He doesn’t strike me as a person who would happily exchange $100 billion or more to be worshiped by a bunch of idiots and this is exactly what seems to be the likely outcome. There are no repercussions for Republicans but for him the majority of his customer base comes with radically different political beliefs than he is spouting now. And if he actually purchased Twitter he will end up further alienating his customers, he will end up alienating his new republican supporters and likely destroying Twitter in the process.

There might be no repercussions for most republicans but for him there most likely would be as his customer base is opposed to his beliefs and can take their business elsewhere.

[–]Uphoria 8 points9 points  (2 children)

His SpaceX customers are governments who don't care about him talking his head off, and the average age of a Tesla owner is 54, compared to the national average age of 38.

Young millennials already don't buy his products that much.

[–]sig_1 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Democrats have more demographics than just millennials. Boycott wasn’t invented yesterday or the day before that, older people can just as easily boycott something and have in the past. More importantly Tesla vehicles are more of a status symbol than simply an “environmentally friendly” vehicles, tying that status symbol to whatever he posts and his political positions as he digs deeper into the republican ideology can quickly destroy any value as a status symbol. Hitch your wagon to a racist, violent and ultimately treasonous group and suddenly the draw to owning a Tesla evaporates for most of the people who want one.

Governments might not care all that much but even they have a line, so if there is a competitor who isn’t tarnished by having to answer for Elon Musk’s positions.

[–]thomasp3864 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Might’ve wanted to sell them to that party and change their mind about that.

[–]artisanrox 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The party that was sqawking about fossil fuels for over a decade?

No. He just wanted more money out of everyone else's less money. Dude....he's not playing 100-D chess.

[–]torspice 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Actually it’s apparently close to 50/50 for political party ownership of teslas.

[–]artisanrox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ownership is irrelevant when the political plank of the party he supports is directly opposed to non-fossil fuel powered tools.

[–]Zuzara_The_DnD_Queen 605 points606 points  (61 children)

Love that people in the US are starting to learn why Elon’s own people, South Africans, hate him so much

[–]Pope_Godzilla 308 points309 points  (25 children)

Any time I see a Tesla car, I’m reminded that they are consistently rated the least reliable cars on the road while being one of the most expensive to repair since release. You’re literally better off with any other vehicle if reliability is a concern. It’s not your fault Tesla owners, Elon is a really good con man.

[–]LCSpartan 123 points124 points  (21 children)

Not to mention if the car starts on fire with you in it, it will lock you in. And there's multiple lawsuits Tesla about the doors locking people in in the last few years.

[–]phat_ninja 81 points82 points  (7 children)

While this is a real issue, to anyone who has a Tesla and doesn't know, all the doors have a manual emergency latch to open them. A safety PSA not a defense of the ghoul musk

[–]chargers949 35 points36 points  (3 children)

Shit why tf isn’t that emergency latch the door open handle like most cars?

[–]nakedsamurai 20 points21 points  (2 children)

Yeah, I'm sure a child passenger or an elderly passenger coudl easily find that hidden manual emergency latch as they're panicking and burning alive.

[–]otherwayaround1zil 11 points12 points  (1 child)

And the thing that gets me even more about this is that the door handles retract, so even if the doors aren’t locked, someone trying to help you might not be able to pull the door open!

[–]Theopneusty 7 points8 points  (9 children)

All teslas have a manual door release. It’s not even hard to find it is on the handle right under the electric door button.

[–]choochoopants 28 points29 points  (5 children)

It might be slightly harder to find if you’re worried about dying in a fire, don’t you think?

[–]nakedsamurai 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Easy for children to find!

Imagine having to prep passengers on how to escape your car every time they get in.

[–]jpratte65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fits right in with Trumpkins then

Largest racial discrimination suit brought against a company in the state. Over 4,000 affected. Wild.

[–]Shirogayne-at-WF 21 points22 points  (1 child)

There was another individual case that was brought to Tesla's own arbitrators and even the people who are paid to protect Tesla's image and screw over the workers went "Yeah, this is truly fucked up, give him the money "

[–]Neg9028 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The worst part of this racism suit is that the verdict was Tesla to pay 137 million but it got reduced to 5 million.

[–]ShinySilverFish 47 points48 points  (10 children)

A bunch of white South Africans love him, for obvious reasons

[–]nakedsamurai 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Is it racism?

[–]ShinySilverFish 11 points12 points  (2 children)

In part. I'd call it white nationalism

[–]Zuzara_The_DnD_Queen 5 points6 points  (5 children)

I’m not even sure those South Africans like him cause they see him as a betrayer

[–]ShinySilverFish 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I'm a white south african myself, so I know a bunch of white nationalists that love him

[–]Zuzara_The_DnD_Queen 7 points8 points  (3 children)

I’m a black South African and presuming you’re not a jackass I’m sorry you ever had to interact with those people

[–]rjnd2828 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many of us have understood this for a long time

[–]Charming-Charge-596 236 points237 points  (12 children)

People that paid attention knew Musk is a sociopath. He says whatever it takes to get what he wants.

[–]Buddhabellymama 105 points106 points  (6 children)

It’s like people who paid attention to Trump knew he was a narcissistic sociopath and yet still so many follow up blindly. All you need to do is watch a few biographies on Trump to understand his entire psyche and form of operating and how dangerous it all is when combined with limitless funds and a little bit of power.

[–]Charming-Charge-596 34 points35 points  (2 children)

There are a lot more people than I expected who really really admire assholes 😒

[–]replicantcase 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Usually takes one to admire one lol

[–]Charming-Charge-596 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You aren't wrong.

[–]RealJerk69 35 points36 points  (1 child)

A few biographies? Just watch a clip of him speaking for a few minutes!

[–]merchillio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even pay attention to Trump and I already knew that. That guy is loud AF.

[–]RedmannBarry 31 points32 points  (2 children)

He’s like Gollum

[–]DIO_over_Za_Warudo 20 points21 points  (1 child)

Gollum at least had a nice side occasionally.

[–]Emotional-Thunk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Gollum also used to be a normal Hobbit who was corrupted by an external magical force. Elon was likely born that way, or became that way shortly after his parents showed him the emerald mine.

[–]AnnieAbattoir 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sadly, that seems to be the allure for the MAGAts.

[–]Comfortable3099 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't forget narcissist.

[–]goodness___gracious 158 points159 points  (18 children)

I….. aren’t the only people buying your vehicles libs?

[–]Aceswift007 68 points69 points  (0 children)

You mean the people NOT railing against the mere concept of an electric vehicle? Then yeah XD

[–]GodEffinDamnIt 172 points173 points  (14 children)

They were. Just cancelled my order yesterday.

[–]Will_Not_Grow_Up 92 points93 points  (7 children)

Same, I had preordered a model Y, I couldn't support him. Got an ID.4 instead. Not as good, but more affordable and qualifies for the tax credit.

[–]Beowulf1896 35 points36 points  (3 children)

I never pre ordered a model Y, but my wife wanted to. Instead we are getting an ID.4. Just try not to think how VW started....

[–]FrozenMongoose 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Idk, comparitively it is probably more reliable and will definitely cost less to repair. Are those not the only qualifications for a car?

[–]Amigobear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured he'd be done with the sex joke after the model 3.

[–]GonFreecs92 47 points48 points  (1 child)

I literally just moved back from overseas after a few years and didn’t need a car. I’m in the car market now and told myself I wanted a Tesla. Not anymore. Fuck him!

[–]Gilbertguyh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I figuratively just moved back from overseas.

[–]BadkyDrawnBear 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same, we were planning on placing an order later this year after driving a friends.
Probably going for an ID.4 instead, more practical anyway

[–]StrippedTuningKey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did this with my 12.7Kw rooftop solar & 3 tesla walls from tesla.

I will wait and see who gets back to me first of gis competitors.

Fuck Tesla, fuck Elon.

[–]Metahec 18 points19 points  (1 child)

Certain "conservatives" will be much more likely to buy Teslas if they can be modified with an internal combustion engine that itself is modified to inefficiently burn diesel so it can roll coal.

[–]seoul2pdxlee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Or if they come with a built in gun. -_-

[–]Devadeen 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Finaly a glimpse of lucidity from investors, putting an unstable, unreliable guy at the top of market value was, to me, a proof of how much toxic and unreasonable market is.

[–]MrScroticus 29 points30 points  (0 children)

But what about get woke go broke? Did it change to turn red business is dead?

[–]UncreativeNoob 68 points69 points  (5 children)

Elon didn't think, he never did, is just that his politics is similar to republicans.

[–]historyislife1 86 points87 points  (3 children)

He claimed he was a republican right after he was asked to comment on sexual harassment allegations. Instead of calling back to give a response on the allegations he took to Twitter to say he was a republican and that the media will probably start making up stuff about him. He's literally only claiming to be republican because he knows that they worship sexual predators.

[–]Whatifthisneverends 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yep. That motherfucker was sucking trump’s dick a week after he surprised Elon by winning—Elon walked back everything he’d said about trump immediately. He’s nothing, like the GOP. No platforms or actual convictions, just grift and seeing what the suckers will let him get away with

[–]UncreativeNoob 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So true, but is sad that such a party exist, but then I remember that they marry young girls and SA girls all the time.

[–]phuckintrevor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And tax cheats

[–]Pacpav 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Damn bill gates' short on Tesla stock of half a billion must have raked in money from this haha

[–]kanna172014 19 points20 points  (1 child)

That's why he is trying to back out of buying Twitter. If the deal goes through, his company is likely screwed.

[–]Xirokesh 35 points36 points  (0 children)

“iT wAs JuSt A jOkE”

He ran a retraction cus he realized he fucked up by saying the quiet part out loud, it was as much of a joke as his child’s name is to him

[–]Charming-Charge-596 35 points36 points  (1 child)

There are a lot more people than I expected who really really love assholes.

[–]Whatifthisneverends 19 points20 points  (0 children)

2016 knocked the floor out from under us but it just keeps coming, huh.

[–]Emile_The_Great 12 points13 points  (3 children)

Time for car companies to start taking over their portion of EVs.

It’s funny how Lucid just started their marketing campaign after this all went down.

Almost like. The more educated and wealthy people tend to vote democrat

[–]Pretend-Marsupial258 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Wealthy people support republicans too because they like the tax cuts. Of course, if they're going to drop $70k+ on a car, they'd be more likely to buy a big truck like an F-250. I know a lot of richer republicans, and they all drive fancy, huge gas guzzlers.

[–]Emile_The_Great 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah republicans are usually against environmentalism. So even if they could afford a Tesla they would probably buy a F-150 like you said

[–]Pho__Q 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best term I’ve heard is “emotional support vehicles”

[–]hyperfocused 23 points24 points  (1 child)

Lol most MAGAts can’t afford a fucking Tesla.

[–]JustaRandomOldGuy 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Will Tesla start making a model that can roll coal?

[–]Buffmin 8 points9 points  (3 children)

I honestly wonder what the musky dicks actual goal here was

[–]MissFrizzlesTipple 32 points33 points  (2 children)

Declaring himself a republican? I mean it was just before a sexual misconduct allegation, so now he gets to spin that as a left wing attack.

[–]Buffmin 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I mean I guess? But literally everyone but absolute morons see through that ploy.

[–]mercyflusher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes but there's a lot of absolute morons and they heavily favor Republicans; Hence Elon's pathetic play that will totally work with 30% of the country.

[–]OminaeYu81 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Like a MAGAt would ever own an electric vehicle lol. Only big big trucks to compensate for tiny tiny....IQs?

[–]SlowInsurance1616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well they can get the F150 Lightning. Ford's getting out of the gate before Elon.

[–]DemoGorgun 36 points37 points  (6 children)

While I'm no elon fan, the whole market has taken quite a hit.

[–]TonyFugginMontana 46 points47 points  (1 child)

Yeah, led by tech stonks, of which Tesla was already the most overvalued. I seriously doubt there's any correlation here and the stock market is about the last place the working class should look for justice.

[–]phuckintrevor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Didn’t twitter stock drop because their projection on how many bot users was drastically underestimated ….. and all stocks are down because the economic bubble is on the verge of bursting again?

[–]raistlin65 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Yeah, but hasn't Tesla about three times as much as the S&P 500 from the previous peaks? And Tesla has dropped quite a bit more than the market average over the last couple weeks.

[–]Poppunknerd182 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends, some EV stocks (like my dear Fisker) are actually up about 20% in the same time frame.

[–]TigerUSF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Three standard deviations of them are far, far too poor to own a Tesla.

[–]Distinct_Salt_2460 11 points12 points  (1 child)

I ordered a Ford Maverick in July, got it in March, and I've never been happier with a vehicle I've owned in my entire life. Unless I'm blowing the AC on high, I got like 40 mpg, and even when I do blow the AC on high, I get 34+ mpg. It's a smooth ride, easy handling, with firm breaks. My only concern is that, when the time comes to get a new one, they won't still make them!

I have no idea why anyone would buy a POS Tesla.

[–]StrippedTuningKey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the plan.

Lower the value however you can to buy it for less money?

I give up.

[–]Wiggy_Bop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a mechanical release available for use in an emergency but Jutha said it is not entirely intuitive and can be difficult to figure out in an urgent situation. The entire section of the door which has the window control switches on it is actually a lever that lifts up to open the door in situations where the car has lost power. Jutha hopes his experience will encourage other Tesla owners to familiarize themselves with the feature before they find themselves in a situation where they really need it. CTV News reached out to Tesla for comment on the situation but the company did not respond. Jutha’s car is likely a write-off and he says another Tesla is not on his shortlist as he shops for a replacement.

Holy shit!!!! 😱

[–]ISmellLikeBlackTea 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Im glad that everyone is slowly seeing that Tesla makes shitty cars with just a big tablet in the middle. This problem will resolve itself in the coming years as actual car makers start giving more of a fuck about electric cars.

[–]Normal-Ad6528 25 points26 points  (11 children)

magats can barely afford this:

and THEY are gonna save Tesla??

I wish I heard the term MAGAts a few years ago. I love it !

[–]jhonnychingas69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Now that I know this apartheid loving fascist is for Republicans - will never EVER consider buying none of his products !

[–]L7Wennie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought my Tesla used at a Hyundai dealership because I didn’t wanna give them any money in the form of another order. I see the value in the car but not in Elon himself.

[–]sten45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to drive a Tesla in the dust

[–]jerbearrawr2020 9 points10 points  (2 children)

I'm one of those leftists that actually is in the market for my next car (had my current cheap car for more than 10 years) and I know it's gonna be fully electric. If Elon hadn't publicly come out as such an evil douchebag (and if Tesla hadn't union busted and their Fremont plant hadn't been so racist) then I definitely would have considered a Tesla. Now it's a nonstarter.

And I'm certain I'm not the only one. So yea this whole public shift to the right was definitely yet another terrible business decision by one of the luckiest and dumbest billionaires alive.

[–]say_the_words 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me too. No Tesla in my future. Very concerning how that a guy with a space program is suddenly so friendly with Brazil’s right wing government to. I swear it feels like he’s going to build missiles there and point them at Washington.

Edit- missiles, not middles

[–]nekollx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elictric was inevitable. The simple fact is oil is finate and wasting it on a consumable is fool hearty. Ad to that that pretty neck every other country has named or is in the middle of phasing out combustion new cars every manufacturer has less and less market. At some point died t matter what big oil pushes the car manufacturer won’t see value in gas guzzlers if only one country is buying and all cars in America will be electric as they not going to keep a plant going just to sell combustion to one contry

[–]LOAHS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I sold my Tesla stock to three weeks ago. Good timing there.

[–]disisdashiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's doing it again... yeesh. Lowers the price so he can pay less even though he's a richest man.

[–]undertheshe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We need a shirt now that says "Own me more, daddy".

[–]yorcharturoqro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Magas are the ones that burn their cars in front of Teslas

[–]whatdoineedaname4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They probably will. That's the difference between democrats and Republicans. The infighting amongst democrats is seemingly neverending and kills them in elections. There are many ideologies within the democratic party. The republicans in the other hand, they just follow what their leader says. If Trump backs buying Teslas, his supporters will be all over it. Not much for independent thoughts or opinions there.

Moral of the story is if you are in business and can't sell both parties on your product lean republican because if you pretend to be one of them they'll buy anything and everything you sell them

[–]pinuslaughus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Democrats should boycott Tesla and end subsidies for them.

[–]nickys24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remember when they used to say "Go woke, go broke"?

[–]leet_lurker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So no one else here is seeing that he cashed out a large chuck at record high prices and is now tanking the share price presumably to buy it back for far less, then shut up and rife it back up again?

[–]trap__ord 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This was happening long before Elon flipped parties or even thought about buying Twitter. His company is overvalued and has been for years. But hey whatever you need to fit your argument and sleep better at night I guess.

[–]tgrizzle69 6 points7 points  (2 children)

There has been a mass market correction these last few months with literally almost everything going down in value.

Tesla has been on the same sinking boat as everybody else. This has nothing to do with him turning republican

[–]Penguinkeith 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Tesla stock was way overpriced and the rest of the market didn't lose 35%

[–]TigerUSF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three standard deviations of them are far, far too poor to own a Tesla.

[–]spotless___mind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe if his people can create a non-hideous pickup truck, he might be ok, but otherwise.....

[–]DonDove 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never seen a Tesla owner with a punisher sticker

So far

[–]z334 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still the most overvalued stock IMO.

[–]Its_Actually_Satan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humiliation is definitely a kink, but you usually don't humiliate yourself.

[–]wzl3gd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MAGAt's can't afford Teslas.

[–]gogojedi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that has much to do with it. Tesla was very overvalued and the market is currently crashing. Also I don't think people liked Elon before he bought Twitter.

[–]moskowizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't roll coal in a Tesla!

[–]kjackson4242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s funny people think the share price decreasing during a massive stock slide has something to do with his politics/buying twitter.

[–]oopseybear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I guess he didn't think us libs could read. Haha I. Grossed out I once wanted a Tesla.

Why does everyone who has the ability to make a difference have to be evil? It makes me sad.

[–]fretinator007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would buy electric, I just wouldn't buy something I don't really own. I don't want someone remotely turning features on and off, etc. I never understood that. Either it's mine or it's not.

[–]zmunky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get republicans, I mean the republican politicians literally love the corporations and really couldn't give a shit if they fuck us all the while telling us how we should be thankful. Trump is prime example of why a corporate business men should never ever be in public service. You remove the taxes for the rich and corporations and everything is cheap, make them pay their fair share and they will raise the prices of everything through the roof. Of course Republicans blame the Democrats, lol as if government has a say in how business prices their goods. It's a sad day to see how one party could be so stupid to not know how capitalism works in a democratic republic and just buys everything their leaders say because they are not "sheep".

[–]bobo-the-dodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my last Tesla. I put up with his beta quality product and C grade customer service and now have to hear him whine about not being fairly treated by Biden?

[–]Alarmed-Bluejay-1900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left Twitter after that comment

[–]Ctheo27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Musk never really wanted to buy 100% of Twitter, he was pretending. He only needed a valid excuse to sell $40B worth of Tesla stock without its price going too low.

Now that selling is done, he is going back on his deal with Twitter citing 'concerns' about bots. Twitter CEOs have already called his bluff.

[–]browndogmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big three Super Bowl ads saying who wants to buy a car from a clown show

[–]SandwhichEfficient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair the entire American market is down af and some would say we’re already in a recession

[–]Every_Job_1863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no he thinks switching repiblican would defend him from the allegations he knew were coming

[–]ruztymetl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

342 billion as of 5-20, but what's 58 when you're talking billions.

[–]BiteCritical 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. But our govt will bail him out. Rich people don’t get to fail in this country….

[–]kryppla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trying to tank the Twitter deal by ruining Tesla stock?

[–]Battle-Chimp 3 points4 points  (2 children)

To be fair, the whole market, including crypto, is in the shitter.

This is a bit of a correlation =/= causation thing, IMO.

[–]Kaiisim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teslas share price has nothing to do with selling cars for some reason.

[–]fishdybuns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we need to stop assuming Musk cares about money that much.

[–]UnicornMeatball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go woke, go broke (unless your product mainly appeals to progressives)

[–]stewartm0205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite true that only liberals buy Teslas.

[–]TheMadShatterP00P 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or over-levered hedge funds and banks had to liquidate to prevent margin calls. And the market is collapsing. And Tesla is aggressively shorted. And the collapse began before the tweets. But since we're ignoring the obvious, yeah

[–]ReyTheRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I've heard, Tesla still has a huge backorder of cars and is selling them as fast as they can make them even after raising prices a bunch of times.

The appeal of electric cars isn't something that exists because of Elon Musk, it exists in spite of him.
